  1. My custom-loop custom desk-pc-build, with all its 'customness' glory to be revealed when complete! Feel free to reach out if you have questions
  2. Budget (including currency): Country: Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm planning on making a pc in a desk and I have some questions for building it. my most concern comes from cooling as seen in the photo below there will be 3x120mm intake and 3x120mm exhaust. but there are some other things which I fought about and I'm not sure how to deal with them on being should I have 2x120mm fans underneath the gpu to help with cooling or will it even matter that much. second rn I have a 120mm aio(corsair h60) it have an intake and an exhaust fan but as there will only be 9cm of building room having two fans and the radiator would only allow for about a cm of breathing room. which I don't see being very good, so would I be better off keeping both fans on or taking one off and if so should the fan be intake or exhaust. If you have any other suggestions or tips I would greatly appreciate. link to some of the parts I'm gonna be using. 3. I just made the same post in the wrong category/fourm Can someone piece together a "high end" gaming PC (not really a pc.) for under $350 CAD? In reality it just needs to be a cpu (preferably 2018 or newer), mother board, ram (16G), NVMe ssd, and cooler (stock cooler is fine if applicable). I have a psu, and gpu, and will be building a desk PC so don't need a case. If multiple people want to provide their suggestions below it would be appreciated to have different choices to pick from.
  4. Budget (including currency): as little as possible without sacrificing quality Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Programming, Gaming (less of a priority), 3D modeling which will hopefully include physics simulations eventually ( to the extent of what a 2080ti can manage combined with my limited knowledge of physics) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a desktop setup that I like but I'm hoping to nix the big desk (most of the space just ends up collecting junk anyhow) for a comfortable couch or something that can be mounted in such a way where I could sit on my couch with my dog ( she gets ansy if she doesn't get enough cuddles as she's a rescue with separation anxiety. I'd like to migrate my existing setup into something usable on a couch without sacrificing access to multiple monitors semi close to my face as I am near sighted and prefer to not wear my glasses when using my computer (and my eye doctor agrees that this is a good practice). I've considered switching to a laptop but honestly I hate touchpads and I don't want to sacrifice the screen real estate (I'm actually considering a 3rd monitor when I can afford it) or the performance (although pxe is totally an option as everything needs to be hardwired anyhow). I get that's not an ideal setup but I love alone and it's not fair to my dog that I work so much. My initial thoughts on this is some heavy duty extra long hydraulic mounts for my monitors so I can fold them back when not in use and a wireless keyboard and mouse on a platform that folds underneath the couch when not in use. Anyone attempted anything similar and have suggestions?
  5. Budget (including currency): 1500€ - 1800€ [Laptop] ; 1600€ - 2000€ [Pre-built PC] Country: France Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA Games, Modded Minecraft (Over 200mods), ¨Programming/Coding Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I've also considered building my own pc, but building your own pc here is way more expensive than buying a pre-built. Here are some laptops that I've considered buying : HP OMEN 15-en1003sf PC Portable Gaming 15,6" FHD IPS 144Hz (AMD Ryzen 5, RAM 8 Go, SSD 512 Go, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060) Dell Alienware m15 R6 15.6 Inches FHD Display Intel Core i7 11800H 16 GB DDR4 1 TB SSD NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 8GB GDDR6 Dell Inspiron G15 5510 Portable Gamer Intel Core i7-10870H 15,6" Full HD 120Hz Grey 16Go RAM SSD 512 Go NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6Go ASUS TUF FX516PR-HN033T PC Portable Gaming 15-15.9 FHD (Intel i7-11370H, RAM 16GB, 512GB MVMe M.2 PCIe SSD, RTX 3070 - 8GB GDDR6, Windows 10) Here are some Pre-built that I've considered: Memory PC Gamer Intel i7-9700K 8 x 3,6 GHz, 16 Go DDR4 RAM, 240 Go SSD + 2000 Go HDD, 8 Go RTX 3060 Ti Memory PC Intel Core i7-10700 8X 4.8 GHz, 16 Go DDR4 RAM, 240 Go SSD+2000 Go HDD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12Go Memory PC Intel Core i7-10700 8X 4.8 GHz, 32 Go DDR4 RAM, 480 Go SSD+2000 Go HDD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6Go 4K which is better? or if you know something better that I can find in Amazon.fr, please do tell! Thank you in advance!

    DeskPC build

Hi, just found out there's also a LTT forum. LTT really inspired me to build a PC myself when they released their Desk-PC video. I really enjoyed building and planning it and I'm quite pleased with the result. Since LTT practically taught me how to build a pc I thought I'll share it with you. Immediately after watching the desk-PC video I knew I wanted one too so I started thinking about how I could build it and how it should look like. Once I had a good plan in my head I started modeling all the components of the PC to figure out all the cable lengths and other important measurements. Fortunately there's a maker space close to where I live so I had the opportunity to cnc mill all big parts out of plywood. I also modeled and 3d printed multiple smaller parts for the PC but I don't want that post to be too long. Then it was time to test fit all the parts, put them together and sand, prime, sand and paint everything. modeled 3d printed covers for the 200mm fans so they look the same regardless of their orientation Sounds easy in this short summary but man it took me a long time to create all the necessary parts for my pc (cant see them here) make them all fit and learning how to use a cnc machine in the first place After all of that was done it was finally the day where everything was ready to be assembled. It was also the day I was moving to a new place. So naturally the first thing that had to be running was the pc here you can see what all the cnc milled channels are being used for. Mostly extensions since I wanted the motherboard to be in the middle of the desk. Already looks way better with the thin wooden sheet on top. Aaaand done Funny thing is that when I first wanted to turn on my pc I panicked for a moment because it didn't do anything. Turned out that I just forgot to turn on the switch on the power supply In the end I just could not resist to turn the 3d blocking of the motherboard into a highly detailed 3d model and render a couple of sequences to also test if the pc is stable throughout multiple days of 100% cpu load when overclocked. After some crashes when rendering for longer than about 20 hours I got it dialed in and my 2700x now runs at 4.2GHz on all cores at 100% load for days (3200MHz ram).
  7. So I have the money, can book a flight, and I have the wife's approval to go, the only problem is, my computer is built into my desk. If I manage to snag myself a ticket, what should I do? I live about 12 hours away, which isn't impossible to drive but about 3 times the cost of flying with Flair. Should I pack up the whole thing and bring it? Should I just bring my monitor and peripherals? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated LTT Team or otherwise
  8. TL:DR I have a 480MM rad with 4x120mm PWM 1300 RPM fans and i want to reduce the exhaust to 2x120mm orifices is this possible and will air flow restrictions be a problem? And, 2x120mm high static 5300 PWM RPM fans for intake/exhaust(non rad cooling) what size rectangular orifice is required or is this even possible? Is there a sweet spot I should set the fans RPM's to to achieve the desired results? Question: If i have 2x120mm fans pushing 600-1400 RPM and 12v (50 CFM manufacturer claim) and I want to reduce them to a single 120mm outlet is this going to cause issues with feedback I have been unable to calculate the pressure of the fans but i don't want to have too many holes in my desk where the exhaust will be going because I'm worried about the structural integrity board if i make 4x120 holes in it. So I'm reducing 4x120mm fans on my rad to 2x120mm exhausts using two 3d printed 240->120 ducts(assuming it doesn't cause problems in airflow) Follow up questions: If i have 2x120MM fans pushing 1200-5300 RPM and 12v (230 CFM manufacturer claim) pressure (in H2O) is 1.17 . Is it possible to calculate a rectangular orifice requirement for this? like 2"x4"? My initial search results yielded conflicting answers and didn't answer the reducing question and i found a lot of results for 120mm fans......
  9. Hello all, new to the forums here. Just thought I'd share my current PC build, see what you all think and get a few suggestions for the next iteration. This was my first custom water cooled build, so I took it easy and created a layout that didn't require any bending. This was also the first desk I have ever made, so it's pretty rough, and the bottom half is still unfinished looking. This is sort of a prototype until I can finally find a house to move into (curse this housing market) and set up a little workshop and make something a little nicer. I'm hoping to improve my woodworking skills so that I can do a wood/resin top some day. I want to go all out on my next build, built in mini fridge and charging ports included. Any ideas on what your ultimate gaming desk would look like? Ryzen 9 5900x RTX 3080 ti 16 GB DDR4-4000 CL15 1000W 80+ Platinum PSU 1 TB NVME SSD EK waterblocks and fittings
  10. Hi all! I have been following the LTT forum for a few years now, and ever since I saw his PC mounted to the desk video on Youtube I thought I had to try something a bit more refined myself. I'm no carpenter and have no special skills but just used some basic tools from the hardware store. I ordered the parts back in Q1 of 2017, the i7 7700k had been released and the GTX 1080Ti was due to be released (I pre-ordered). I had been following Gamers Nexus and LTT on youtube for reviews of the products. I also ordered the HTC vive, my plan and dream was to get into VR gaming and still play to this day. I modified a case (a Gigabyte Sumo circa 2004 that I got from an old flatmate) and installed them and all was well. We moved to a larger house at the start of 2018, got married and got a dog. We had a voucher for a furniture company from Christchurch, New Zealand called Mocka (https://www.mocka.co.nz). They do nice kitset furniture and I told my wife I could get rid of the big ugly PC case and install all the parts into the desk https://www.mocka.co.nz/marlow-desk.html. It was my first go at watercooling (as air cooling for performance would be too limited given the internal height of the gap in the desk) and I used an EK Extreme kit to get me started, plus the GPU waterblock. This year I had to change the coolant, do some maintenance on the components and wanted to change some things about the desk, the layout, and tidy the cabling. I thought I should upload my build after changing the coolant in the loop and show the changes to the desk so people can try this themselves! Most other Desk PC's are either janky (mounting to the underside of cheap furniture) or building your own from scratch. Even if you can't get the same desk, one with similar dimensions should work (will post below). I got all the mods done before our baby boy was born, and I have been working through the lockdown so there might be a few gaps between posts but I'll try to get the photos and posts up as soon as possible. The professional photos are from Humphrey Hanley, a photographer and awesome guy: http://nohandsnoexcuses.com/. Please excuse the terrible shots from my phone that I tried to take during the build (and now). I had not planned on posting the build so not all steps have photos but hopefully none are missing.... any questions please ask me and I'll try reply as soon as possible.
  11. Hi guys, Just finished building my desk PC. The shape of the desk is inspired by the one Linus built. I am not a professional carpenter or anything, just wanted to do this for me The computer parts themselves are not new, but in time the GPU will be upgraded and water cooling will be added. - i5-4670 - Gigabyte Z87-D3HP - 2x4GB HyperX Genesis 1600mhz DDR3 Ram - Sapphire Dual X HD7970 3gb OC - Samsung 840 Pro 128GB - Seagate Barracuda 2TB - 2x AD Link 120GB SSD's, got the pretty cheap, just have a few games installed on them - Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo with SP120 Quiet edition - EVGA 750 P2 Platinum (originally a Be Quiet Straight Power 700w Gold, but failed 3 times, yes i'm that unlucky) - 2x AF120 and 1x SP120 Quiet edition Link to my Google Photos Album: https://goo.gl/photos/K65gMXWNZpMoUx489 I'm open to constructive criticism Hope you enjoy
  12. Recently, I've been in desperate need of something portable (Surface Book, Spectre x360, XPS 13" 2 in 1, Macbook Pro, etc.). I'm a musician. I love to play, record, capture and edit my sound files whether it's Logic Pro X or Pro Tools. I don't want to pay more than $1700 for a laptop, and I want it to last me at least 5 years. I prefer apple If possible, but I'm open to Windows Machines as well. Any suggestions? Requirements Are: Touchscreen (Unless Apple) 16 GB of Ram and 256 GB SSD (minimum) A CPU and design that will last at least 13" of screen real estate. <And their new Evolv Shift Series> I just saw it. Also, I have been contemplating building a PC either in a desk or in a Tempered glass case (I like the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv in Black or Gray with the glass, NZXT S340 Elite or the Corsair 570X). I want a Black, Gray, and White build if at all possible, not mix and match. Again, I want my DAW (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, etc.) to work, so an Intel system. Any suggestions? No more than $1800 with a monitor around 24" or greater, mouse, keyboard and a Logitech G920 (or something of similar build quality for less). I like to game so I would like to record and stream some gameplay like GTA V and the Simulator. Games include Forza Titles, GTA V, Minecraft, Construction Simulator 2015, American and Euro Truck Simulator. I have a build specced out at the link below. It's a little over, that's okay, just not more than $100. Black Peripherals if at all possible. I already have an SSD on hand so I'll repurpose it as a boot drive. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. All Prices in USD. Thank you for your personal (and possibly professional) advice. Link to build: Click Here
  13. Out of interest, how many people have a desk pc or want one? I was thinking of building one! https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/QTYQBT8 (I'm collecting some information about desk pcs and peoples preferences, please can you do my survey? Thanks!
  14. So recently for a school project in a class called Personal Fabrication I have a final project to build and use the machines in the room and in the construction lab so what I have chosen to do is build a PC inside a desk (may and may not be inspired by somebody on this forum :)) but in the next couple days I will be giving you guys pictures and how its going I have around 10 more school days to work on it and will be done around early January. Also the specs seem low specified but I will be upgrading these parts from my computer that I have now because I don't want anybody to steal these parts lol. Specs Now (Mainly parts I had at home) AMD Athlon II X4 860K 3.4 Ghz (OC 4.0) Cooler Master 212 Evo Nvidia 750ti (Might go with a lower spec card for now but I might go with this one but might just go for a cheap one on ebay because im not going to be using for gaming but rather a different computer for specific tasks) Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm 500w PSU (I have no clue what psu brand or anything it is but it works lol) Foxconn A88GN Deluxe I plan to go upgrade shortly after I build it but as I had those parts at home well most of them I will be just putting them in and hopefully it will all end out well. If you have any questions on how I plan to do stuff or give me any advice I would love it I should be able to post some pictures tommorow of it so far and might do some temp checks from in the desk and in a regular case
  15. Hello everyone, hello Linus, this is my deskpc inspired by yours, I improved some things and also did to my liking. Enjoy, it took a long time to make and i want to improve it even more. 100% hand made It is now necessary to upgrade the monitor to an ultrawide, and tidy up the cables too, which do not like confusion
  16. I think we all remember when Linus build his deskPC, and ever since i wished i had one of those. so i finally decides to go ahead and build my own. it were around the same time my younger brother were planning to but his first PC, so we decided to build the deskPC together, and do one custom watercooling loop for both PC's with dual pumps and dual rads. so i started drawing how it could look and explained him the cost and materials involved in the project. But he ended up just buying a case for him self, as a whole desk is too impractical when going to a LAN, and furthermore i were a little slow getting started on the project, and he wanted his PC faster than the buildprocess. this meant that it were now only my own pc, but i decided to go with allmost the same layout, and ended up not doing watercooling, because of the price (and my sistem isn't exactly new, so the cost would outweigh the bennefit). As the project were made on a tight budget, i used some "scrap" wood (form my parents home renovating project) and got the glass plate used for 100 DKK (approx 15 USD). The most expensive part were paint, and some new Noctua fans. I decided to change the powersupply cables to, though it is not modular. the rest of the parts were my current setup, which include the PC and Electrical desk legs. not that it is new or powerfull, but for those that might have the interest, here are the specs: CPU: AMD A10-7700k (stock heatsink) Motherboard: ASUS A88XM-E RAM: 8Gb hyper x DDR3 GPU: ASUS GTX660 PSU: Cooler Master 600W Storage: Kingston 120Gb ssdnow Seagate Barracuda 3Tb 7200RPM
  17. I built a desk pc somewhat similar to what Linus built in his video. My hard drives are quite a ways away similar to the desk in the video. I cannot find sata cables longer than 36" but that is not long enough to reach the mobo from where i positioned the hard drives using the cable management i built in. Any advice on where to get longer (4'-5' ) sata cables?
  18. Hey everyone, I've been thinking about building my own desk pc for a while now. Finally got around to designing it and I've started building. Thought it's time I show off my progress a little. Maybe get some advice if im doing anything wrong. Been watching ltt since the rc fire truck video was a month old. Been inspired to do this since Linus showed off the lian li desk pc years ago. I bought a glass desk years ago with this build in mind. So I'm essentially building a slim Pc case to go under my glass desk. Thus turning into a deskpc. SO the dimensions are: 23.75" x 17" x 5" external 23" x 16.5" x 6" internal. There will be a 1 inch false bottom to hide cables. And a 1 inch gap at the top that won't be seen but needed to be able to have the whole thing on drawer rails and slide out. The glass table I have has 2-1inch bars running across it to hold the glass. Thus the need for a 1inch gap. Here's how far I've gotten so far. I've made, a box.
  19. Budget (1500€ without GPU): Country: Germany Programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have built 2 part lists one AMD and one INTEL: 1.AMD: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/FEB_02/saved/4cTNcf 2.Intel: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/FEB_02/saved/MK3d99 High Guys, my friend is finally upgrading his pc and we need a little help here. He decided to use a Lian Li Desk Case as found in the part Lists and now we need a little hand on how we should spec out the system. He has a GTX 1060 6gb model, that works fine for him and does not want to upgrade yet. I have built those two part lists, if you can have a look and tell us some improvements we can make, please tell. Everything, thats not listed is already there and will be saved from his old system. And as I have to build it for him, we ruled out Watercooling for now. As always thanks in advance. Greetings from Germany. F3B
  20. Budget (including currency): $2000 Country: UAE Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Multi use in a shared household, mainly for Abode Design Suite, Web Design, coding, AutoCAD work (some 3D) and a little bit of gaming, likely racing sim. Other details Would like to do a cool water cooling system as the desk top will be glass, but wouldn't really know where to start! Plan to use 3 monitors in total, I already have 2 monitors which are very basic but will likely get a better monitor as the main screen to go with the new build. Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated! Computer Desk Plans.pdf
  21. I'm building a ghetto deskpc using an old dell insperon 9200 with an intel core2 duo 6600 2.4ght, 4gb ddr2 ram, and a zotac gt 710 zone edition 1gb ddr3 gpu and I'm looking to squeeze just a few extra fps out of low end esports, currently im getting between 48-58 FPS on league of legends at any setting from very low to med. high and at 720p and 1080p but can climb to almost 100 when nothing is in lane so I think im getting a bottle neck but im not sure if its the cpu, gpu, or ram holding back but id like to just get to a stable 60fps on low 720p, it also plays fortnite at low preset 24-30 fps but I don't play that game so im not worried about it. but I would like to be able to play fallout3 or new vegas on it if possible.
  22. I am considering building a desk of that will be in the 2000-3500$ range sometime in the future. Looking for a Core i9 and at least 32 GB of ram. And also team Nvidia on the GPU(s). Any help? Custom or aio cooling? I’d like some feedback.
  23. Welcome To A project to rebuild my crappy old desk and replace it with a brand new desk with my new PC built into it. 24. Im looking to build a custom water loop for my ryzen 5 1600 and i need advice on what to double up on and how thats going to work. My case is actually my desk and i will have a photo attached.
  25. Well, heres my plan of my first build updated. Remember that i live around here and if you didn't look the link. Yes im from Panama. that being said is a little hard to bring tecnology to here so i can only buy from Amazon or ebay and here are some few companies that offers shipping services from USA to PTY (that's the designation of Panama in airports) and some of them are expensive and other more cheaper. im just need to investigate more companies. also notice that english is my second language im good at it but i think i know basics at least. Im planing to buy this in December so i expect the price be <2000$ or price drop as min. of ~10% my budget is max 2200$ and i think the total price of shipping would be 200$ max. for start i will buy anything that is need to build the pc. (ej Cpu,PSU,case, etc.) then go to the peripherals and the monitor. I will overclock this cpu to 4.6 GHz so if you have at least the Asus-Z170 A to Asus Z170 Premium MOBO and the I5 6600k tell me you option you made to overclock to 4.6 GHz it will be helpful. Also im building this PC for ONLY PLAY GAMES and surfing the internet. not for editing video so that why i choose I5, instead of I7. The most benefit of my build is because here on Panama we use dollars. something that is a huge benefit vs any country in Central and South America. because the currency PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($238.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($99.99 @ Amazon) Thermal Compound: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 11.1g Thermal Paste ($38.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus Z170-DELUXE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($299.99 @ Micro Center) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($76.88 @ OutletPC) Storage: PNY CS1311 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Seagate 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($89.88 @ OutletPC) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card ($650.00) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe ATX Full Tower Case ($147.98 @ Newegg) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.99 @ NCIX US) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 IP67 PWM 107.4 CFM 140mm Fan ($27.88 @ OutletPC) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 IP67 PWM 107.4 CFM 140mm Fan ($27.88 @ OutletPC) Monitor: Acer GN246HL 24.0" 144Hz Monitor ($179.99 @ Newegg) Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB RAPIDFIRE Wired Gaming Keyboard ($169.99 @ Amazon) Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse (Purchased For $0.00) Total: $2188.42 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-01 00:09 EDT-0400 May someone else ask if you can buy localy this. and the answer is partialy yes.
