  1. Hi! I have been considering buying a new keyboard. My top two choices are the drevo blademaster TE ($70) and the ducky one 2 mini ($100). If I get the blademaster, I will also get these PBT pudding keycaps: https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Double-Shot-PBT-Keycaps/dp/B07JDVG4RQ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=pbt+keycaps&qid=1578958807&sr=8-3. That would bring the total price of the drevo keyboard and caps to $90, $10 less than the ducky by itself. I would just like to know your opinions on which keyboard to get. Thank you!
  2. I'm looking at my next upgrade to be a Samsung s20 Plus or the iPhone Pro Max. I don't want the ultra because in all honesty I don't use my phone camera that often and I don't have 5G in South Africa. I want to know from you guys what you think?
  3. Hi, So I have recently purchased a RTX 2070 Super (the Gigabyte Windforce OC 3X 8G - GV-N207SWF3OC-8GD model) and used MSI Afterburner to overclock it. I didn't really find somewhere a comprehensive forum that compares OC results for this card but I have found some user reports here and there and I am a little bit surprised with my results (in a good way). When I look at the clock speed during a game (Shadow of the Tomb Raider for instance) or run a benchmark I have the following results: Running at stock speed without any overclock I reach and cruise at 1905 MHz --> That seems pretty higher that what I have seen from other users With an overclock I can reach a cruise clock speed of 2130 MHz . This is with a core clock of +140 and memory clock of +900 . I can push it a bit more while still being stable but I noticed that my core clock speed won't increase above 2130 MHz Again, this seems a bit higher than what I've seen from other users. Anyone on this forum have had similar results or would know whay there seems to be some big differences ? Thanks,
  4. It's been a while since I have been here. But I am back because I'm in a dire situation. I can't decide which one to get. I know that I7-8700 has 6 cores and 12 threads. And on the other hand I7-9700 has 8c/8th. I don't intend on buying AMD because I have already bought parts for 8th and 9th gen cpus. Problem is that 9th gen cpus in my country are currently out of stock and their prices are inflated so high that i7-9700 (non-k) costs $87 more than a i7-9700k. Whereas I7-8700 costs around $345. So the question is would I benefit more from 9th gen i7 cpu or just don't bother with it and get an i7-8700? Main purpose is gaming and streaming from time to time. Rig: CPU:??? RAM: 16gb 2666mhz Mobo: b365m gigabyte aorus Cooler: cooler master hyper 212 Black edition PSU: 550W 80+ bronze. Thanks in advance, Netreo
  5. Hi, I want to buy a laptop for graphic design. Not too much rough use only will use it for any urgent case. I will buy them as a used product. I wanna know that which processor will be more better Intel Core i5-4210U 4th Gen or Intel Core i3-7100U 7th Gen Thank you!
  6. Hi All, Forgetting for a moment the cost of these two cards: 2080 Ti Asus Matrix (Boost 1815 Mhz) - AUD $3,699 2080 Ti Gigabyte Aorus Waterforce (Core Clock 1770 Mhz) - AUD $2,299 Both use liquid cooling in different ways. Matrix doesn't require an external radiator, whereas the Waterforce does (Also has a custom water-loop version). I am unsure about whether the 'Core Clock' on the Waterforce is referring to Boost Clock, or if that's its Base. Question though, is; if there is a sub 100 Mhz difference in clock speeds, is the performance worth the extra AUD $1400? Or is there something I have missed here? I'd love to see a comparison, but I cannot find one anywhere. My aim is understand what the price is buying. If it's simply the recouping of RnD cost, then the Matrix should have stayed in the RnD Centre IMHO.
  7. As the title of this thread suggest, im currently living with pretty severe bottleneck from my intel i5 5600 having to deal with a RTX2060. (Purchased knowing of the bottleneck but i got a good price, ok :) ) Since blackfriday and the holiday season coming up shortly its time to upgrade the rest of the rig, whats recommended for the least amount of bottleneck is pairing an intel i7 8700k with the 2060 and 16 gb of 3200? ram. But since i live in sweden and for some reason stores here price intel cpu's with insane profit margins, im available to get AMD cpus and AM4 boards for a better price than the intel alternatives. The question is it worth to get an r7 3700x some decent B450 motherboard and 16/32 gb of 3600 Mhz ram to go with it for about the same price even tho it will result in the cpu being bottlenecked by the gpu? Tl:dr, is it worth going from cpu to gpu bottleneck or should i go with a no bottleneck solution with less potential for upgrading in the future?
  8. Hi there! I am looking into buying a new 13" laptop, preferably 2-in-1. Budget is up to £1500. I was thinking about the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 or the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga, with an i7, 16GB RAM, at least 512GB NVMe and ideally I would like to go for a 1080p touch. The last criterion points to Lenovo, as far as I know they are the only ones that offer this screen combo, which I think would benefit battery life. Do we have any idea about the performance of these two, compared to each other, especially since the Dell have the 10th Gen i7s? Also, which one do you think has the best build quality, especially regarding the hinges? I am afraid of the accidental drop and/or an eventual loosening of them. Thanks for your help in advance!
  9. Asus tuf fx505: Ryzen 5 3550h Gtx 1650 Acer Nitro 5: I5 9300h Gtx 1650 Both are same price in my country (Malaysia) with same gpu but different cpu. Which one is better?
  10. Hi guys, I need a little bit of help. I am building a server for my office, and I cannot decide on which motherboard to get: I find very little reviews and comparisons between the following motherboards: 1. Gigabyte Z390 M GAMING https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-M-GAMING-rev-10/sp#sp 2. Gigabyte Z390 M (cannot find it anywhere in pcpartpicker, Amazon or Newegg, but I can find it in my country's online marketplace) https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-M-rev-10#kf 3. msi MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z390-GAMING-PLUS/Specification Why gaming and z390 you say? I find it not the cheapest but the next z390 out there with 2 NVMe slots, an ethernet port, and most importantly it works out of the box without having to guess whether I need to update my BIOS version or not, These motherboards seem to have a very good VRM and VRM heat dissipation. I considered Gigabyte Z390 UD (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-UD-rev-10), but it seems like it only has 1 M.2 slot, otherwise, it would have been perfect. Why 2 M.2? I am thinking of getting 1 M.2 NVMe SSD for my boot drive and programs, and the other M.2 slot is used for optane caching if I opt to use it in the future. I will have 2 x 2TB HDD as my RAID 1 setup storage. Thank you for helping this novice guy, who has not built a PC in almost 2 decades.
  11. Hi, would there be any scenarios where an i3-8100 be better than an i5-8400T in gaming? The i3 has a constant clock speed of 3.6GHz while the 8400T has a base clock of 1.7Ghz and a boost clock of only 3.3GHz. I play mainly Wahammer: Vermintide 2 and Apex Legends with an RX 580. PassMark here. What would you recommend? Thank you.
  12. Hello, I'm going to buy a new headphones but I don't know which to buy between HyperX Cloud Alpha and Steelseries Arctis 5 2019 Edition, I'm going to use it for gaming and listening to music. I would love to know your opinions which should I buy between these two headphones. Thank you for your time :) Here are the links for each headphones: HyperX Cloud Alpha -> Amazon FR: https://www.amazon.fr/HyperX-Cloud-Alpha-Casque-Micro-Gaming/dp/B076GT6XJ9/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?__mk_fr_FR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=hyperx+cloud+alpha&qid=1566653779&s=computers&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExVEpLQVRIN0NaSUgwJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDM1NzAwMlk4TDFQSUQxOFpZTyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzQ2Mjc3SEdQQlRISVU5WUk3JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== Technical Sheet: https://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/headsets/cloud-alpha-pro-gaming-headset Steelseries Arctis 5 2019 Edition -> Amazon FR: https://www.amazon.fr/SteelSeries-Arctis-Plateformes-PlayStation-Nintendo/dp/B07GFWMF2Z/ref=dp_ob_title_ce?th=1 Technical Sheet: https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-5#arctis-5-black-2019-edition
  13. TL:DR: Download one or more of these archives. Listen to the different songs. Pick which one out of A, B and C you think sounds the best. One is 160Kbps Vorbis. One is 320Kbps Vorbis. One is FLAC (around 1000Kbps). Download links at the bottom. Why? A few years ago I made a comparison between AAC, Vorbis and FLAC. It was pretty fun but not really anything scientific. I used lots of different codecs and at different settings. I've decided to redo the test but with more songs, a wider range of songs, and now only two different codecs. FLAC and Vorbis. The reason why I chose those two, and the reason why I chose those bitrates is because of Spotify. They recently announced "Spotify Hi-Fi" which costs 5 dollars more each month, but lets you stream lossless audio. The regular Spotify subscription has three different qualities. 96Kbps The normal quality setting on mobile. 160Kbps Standard quality for the desktop and web player. High quality setting on mobile. 320Kbps (this requires Spotify Premium) High quality setting on desktop. Extreme quality setting on mobile. So I thought I'd be interesting to see if the people on the forum can hear the difference between the free 160Kbps, the premium 320Kbps or this new Hi-Fi lossless settings. So the test... Here is what I have done: 1) Picked out 40 different songs from my collection of lossless music. 2) Cut out a 30 second portion of each song. 3) Added a fade in and fade out effect which each lasts 2 seconds. Just to make it less jarring when listening. 4) Made three separate version of each song. Two with Vorbis with a target bitrate of 160 and 320 Kbps, and one kept in the original lossless quality. 5) Converted all of them back to FLAC so that you can't just look at the file format. I also used different compression settings so that you can't just look at the file size. So the result are three identical looking files for each song. One named A, one B and one C. One of them contains ~160Kbps Vorbis audio. One contains ~320Kbps Vorbis audio, and one contains ~1000Kbps FLAC audio. The challenge is to figure out which one is which. Please bear in mind that the naming does not change between songs. All songs that ends with A has the same encoding settings. All songs that ends with B has the same. All songs that ends with C is the same. Download links: Here is the download link for the answers. The file is password protected though because I don't want people cheating. I will release the password at some point in time. Each one of these download links contains 6 different songs (except the last one which only has 4). 800 - Aimee - Ayumi - Bella - Cocola - Colleen Continent - Daisy - Dance - Death - Elizabeth - Eru Ginger - Green - Horo - Illya - Iselin - Jenkees Joanne - Kumin - Kuuko - Lotte - Lucy - Maggie Maria - Merica - Misaka - One - PenPen - Rem Sahono - Sayaka - Suffle - Silica - Stefani - Sun Tony - Uiharu - Yui - Yuri I also want to apologize in advance for my music taste. 15. Hi, new Ryzen processors are already with us and everyone interested already watched probably multiple reviews. I was thinking about building new PC from some time and wanted to build it with Intel i9 9900K. Because Ryzen 3 release was close, I decided to wait. Right now I think Ryzen 3700X is a better option, because it matches or even outperforms Intel in some scenarios and it is only ~10% slower in games. Differences in games should be also only visible in processor heavy locations and they should be smaller in higher resolution (I think about 1440p). In general this decision should be easy, BUT... I have an option to buy Intel i9 9900KF for ~310$. Now choice is more complicated, as this price is lower than for Ryzen 3700X. I want to build PC for many years (preferably 5+) with possible only small upgrades. Right now Intel is better (and cheaper in my case), but if I would like change the processor in the future, I will have to change also motherboard. On AMD AM4 platform I expect at least one more generation, and current x570 chipsets are coming with PCIe 4.0 support. Right now I cannot utilize this new interface, but possibly it may become useful in 2-3 years. So, I have only one question. Looking at the market today and possible future development, which one is better Intel i9 9900KF or AMD Ryzen 3700X? Of course taking into account lower price for Intel.

I'm not tech savvy at all, which is why I'm purchasing an affordable pre-built system (my budget is $900 and I'm leaving room to purchase a monitor). These two are really similar and have really good reviews - albeit one more than the other: The first system has a graphics card ram size of 6 GB in comparison to the second's 4 GB. The first system also has a 120 GB SSD card alongside the 1 TB Hard Drive (I heard downloading games onto the SSD reduces load time, but maybe you guys can speak to the validity of that). Both systems obviously have different graphics cards, but I don't know which is better than the other. Which system is better?
  17. I am looking to air cool a threadripper setup - I just need something effective and quiet. No need for flash. However I am struggling to find good sources of comparisons between the different options. AMD of-course just lists available options without showing preference. Bias would have me choose the noctua option over the wraithripper, but I have zero data to support a choice like that. Any recommendations and/or pointers to writeups/videos/whatever?
  18. Hello, I'm upgrading a 2nd hand computer that doesn't have a SSD, so I quickly searched through the Internet and found Crucial BX500 and PNY CS900, Now I want to know which is better between the two, I've looked at BENCHMARK of the two storages but still don't know which should I get. I'd appreciate it if you took the time to reply to this topic Thank you in advance Here are the components of the PC : It's an ASUS CG8480 Intel Core i7-3770K Nvidia GTX 670 Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB Kingston ASU16D3LU1KBG/8G P8Z77-M-Pro
  19. Hey guys, There is currently a used titan xp available for $1100 cdn used and private sale near me, and there are RTX 2080s on sale for the same after tax. I am wondering if I should go for the RTX 2080 or the Titan xp. Let me know if you need anymore details. EVGA 650w QC PSU btw. So the titan may bring me closer to max load. EDIT: I will be gaming with the card at 1440p.
  20. soo i have a question wich gpu would i be better of with ? Gtx660 (ti) or Gtx750 (ti) i watched some videos where gtx660 is deffinately better but in some cases mostly newer games (i guess) gtx750 takes the lead. i wont be playing a lot of games on it mostly Assassin's Creed series, GTA V and some shooters like Cod and BF. what's your experience with the card and which one would you suggest more... P.S i'm building a new budget pc witch socket 1155, with 8gb ddr3 ram and probobly i3 2240 (also i currently have gtx 460 v2 1gb) so what's your thoughts on it and what other alternative would you suggest for best budget price ? thank you
  21. After I used Windows 10 as my primary OS for many months, I realised that I wouldn't miss anything about it if I went back to Windows 7. And since I found that everything was more difficult, more frustrating, more ugly, and more time-consuming on Windows 10, I went back to Windows 7 as my primary OS. Windows 10 made the detail of just having an OS a chore and liability all on its own, whereas Windows 7 is just passively there, like an OS should be, and just works for whatever I decide to do, without any of the barriers, talk-back, and convolution of Windows 10. This post's sections include: 1) General Windows 7, Windows 10 user experience comparison 2) Gaming and application-wise 3) The modern Microsoft factor 4) My conclusion General Windows 7, Windows 10 user experience comparison: These are many of the reasons why I found Windows 7 to be a much more sophisticated, smartly-designed, and user-friendly OS than Windows 10: Windows 7 has a more useful and efficient start-menu design, that takes up less screen space, and requires less mouse travel distance to get to what you want. Pinning applications to a space-efficient list directly above the start button is a lot more space-smart, and functionally-useful than the live-tiles design in Windows 10. Windows 7 has an intelligent Windows Update set of choices, whereas in Windows 10, unless you edit Group Policies, you have basically no choice. The choice to defer updates is not useful, since deferring them still causes the same ambiguous and random update process to automatically occur, just a couple of months later. There isn't even a choice for how long to defer them. Also, with the Anniversary Update, Microsoft has reduced the availability of Group Policy options in Windows 10, a move which certainly wasn't done to be of any service to Windows 10 Pro license owners. Customizing file-associations in Windows 7 is straight-forward, while in Windows 10 it can be a repeating arm-wrestle with the OS, as sometimes Win 10 resets the file associations you've changed, and sometimes the ability to change file-associations "bugs," and it doesn't let it be changed, or doesn't list the application you want and doesn't provide any means to add the application you want to use to the list (such as to use Chrome to open URLs from offline, non-browser text). Windows 10's UI isn't very aesthetic to many people, and Windows 7's UI feels a lot more comfortable to me. Windows 10's UI can be changed to some extent, using programs like Startisback, Classic Shell, or Start 10, and Aero Glass. Windows 10's data-collection is invasive, and it isn't straight-forward to turn it off. Microsoft has made effort to spread the settings for various aspects of data-collection in many different places, to make it challenging for a person to find them all and disable them all. And extra efforts may be required to put a more thorough stop to MS' collection of your data, such as those described in the link in my signature. Don't presume that just because you turned off telemetry and data-collection during the Win 10 installation process that you got it all. You'll find more data-collection settings in individual MS apps that need turning off in them after the OS has completed installation. Windows 10 has so far tended to often require users to redo their OS customization work with new big updates, which can have the magical ability to reset things back to the way MS wants them to be. For that reason, and because of data-collection, and because of file-association challenges, Windows 10 is not a user-friendly OS. It's a for-Microsoft OS, that a user might have to struggle with quite a bit to get the way they want, and to keep it the way they want. It's rather abusive, in this. In Windows 10, there are in-OS ads, which is something Windows 7 doesn't have. Does anyone want to see advertisement in their personal space? I don't. In Windows 10, Windows Defender is a nuisance, unless it is permanently disables in Group Policy Editor, and all system warning notifications are disabled (otherwise Windows 10 will constantly bother the user to re-enable Windows Defender). Windows 10 has (lots of) bugs, and while new versions and patches fix some, they also often create new ones, sometimes major ones. Windows 7 has been generally bug-free (or, few enough that I haven't encountered any since its release). Microsoft uses Windows 10 to pester users about whatever random thing they want to happen: General: Microsoft is disgustingly sneaky: Windows 10 isn't an operating system, it's an advertising platform How to Get Rid of “Suggested Apps” (like Candy Crush) in Windows 10 How to Disable Ads on Your Windows 10 Lock Screen Windows 10 Creators Update: Turn Off Suggested Apps in Share Dialog August 2016: Microsoft's war against Chrome battery life now includes Windows 10 notifications January 2017: Windows 10: Microsoft is spamming Chrome users with pop-up adverts Microsoft's latest Windows 10 ad annoys Chrome users with taskbar pop-ups February 2017: Windows 10 pushes notifcaitons to remind you to watch the Superbowl and to purchase snacks October 2017: Is nothing sacred? Advertisement for OneDrive in my face when I opened Windows Explorer (I already pay for Office 365) Microsoft is putting OneDrive ads in Windows 10’s File Explorer https://boards.4chan.org/g/thread/59233293 November 2018: Microsoft wants to put ads in Windows email — and it’s already testing them out I feel that the best thing I've found about Windows 10 is that after setting everything up the way that I'd like it, it functions pretty much like Windows 7, with the only differences being worse on Windows 10 than in Windows 7. But, since it takes more work to set up than Windows 7, and since it takes work to keep Windows 10 set up the way I want it to be (since Microsoft's Win 10 updates seems to cause people's Windows 10 configurations to reset arbitrarily), I can't see why I would go with the OS that takes ongoing work to be good, rather than the OS that is simply good from the start. Areas in which I've discovered Windows 7 to be more configurable than Windows 10 include: Windows Updates, system restarting, the Group Policy editor, removing default apps, configuring what the default apps for file-types are, disabling background data-collection, account permissions, reliability, and visual customization. Gaming and Application-wise: There are no tangible performance differences between Windows 7 and Windows 10 in non DirectX 12 games and applications. While I haven't looked at benchmarks on the subject in a long time, last I saw, some games will perform better in one Windows OS compared to another, but, on average, across a large selection of games, Windows 7, 8, and 10 all perform within ~1 FPS of each other, with the two overall fastest Windows OSes being Windows 8, then Windows 7, with Windows 10 coming in last for performance in non DX12 games. On my dual-boot system, Windows 7 is the OS that's lighter on system resources, using only 13% RAM at idle, compared with 15% RAM-usage at idle in Win 10 (Anniversary Update version). Compatibility-wise, Windows 7 has better support for a larger amount of games and applications, having been the main gaming OS for a very long time, and continuing to be the OS with the largest market share. Because of this, Windows 7 also has a lot more community guides, fixes, and other materials to get games and applications to run on it, then does any other OS. Windows 7 is a more stable and reliable OS in general than Windows 10, and Windows 7 doesn't interfere with online gaming by automatically updating and sharing data, such as can occur in Windows 10, for whatever MS app and service wants to do that. There are more options available to Windows 7 owners, to ensure that there won't be any automatic updates while they're playing their games, and Windows 7 doesn't cloud-share OS updates to other Windows owners, which Windows 10 does, unless a person disables it. Windows 7 doesn't have directX 12, but it does have Vulkan, which accomplishes the same low-level hardware communication that improves application performance, and Windows 7 in Vulkan is just as good as Windows 10 in DX12. I think that Vulkan is more likely to become the industry standard than DX12, as it is available for all Windows, Linux, and more, OSes, whereas DX12 is only available in Windows 10. As Valve has expressed, there doesn't seem to be much point in making a game DX12, when making it Vulkan will make it accessible cross-platform. Also, there doesn't currently seem to be any benefit for Nvidia cards in DX12, with Nvidia GPUs typically losing performance when running DX12 modes, compared to their performances while in DX11 mode. Because of this, and because of Vulkan's availability on previous Windows OSes, I think that Windows 10's DX12 has nothing to offer Nvidia GPU owners. Windows 10 has a lot of problems right now, and Microsoft, with their new QA strategy (having laid off most of their testing engineers), has, so far, been unable to stay on top of them. I would avoid Windows 10 just for that reason. But there are other issues with Windows 10 that make it not the most sound OS for gaming, whatever a person is looking to do with it. The modern Microsoft factor: In the last 3 years, Microsoft has fired around 20,000 employees (many of whom were testing engineers), has changed management, has rearranged internal development and testing structures, has completely shifted business strategies away from software-first to monetization-first, and as a result, is no longer capable of quality product design, or of producing competent software releases. As ridiculous as things seemed to be under Ballmer, Microsoft is a not the same company today, for the worse, and Windows is not the same product anymore, also for the worse. The new Microsoft didn't design and develop the Windows IP, and has simply inherited the Windows IP, and is now just looking for how they can exploit and prostitute every cranny of it. It's just like when a pharmaceutical company buys the rights for a drug that they didn't research or develop, and then jacks the price up by 5000%. Or, it's like when a big publisher buys a developer of a popular game, and turns their game into a dumbed-down, overly-generic version of its previous form. Currently, Windows 10 is probably the most buggy OS Microsoft has released since Windows ME, and each new major Win 10 update brings as many new bugs as it fixes. I think that Windows 10 simply is not a professional OS. It's like an indie-dev's prototype that never solidifies into anything great, but just morphs from one bloated and troubled presentation to another. Also, Win 10 is littered with "bugs" that are intentional, to keep people using MS services - things like issues with changing default apps away from MS ones. If a program starts doing that on a person's PC, it's called malware. And it's not different when Microsoft does it, through Windows. I think that it is fair to classify Windows 10 as malware, especially since it installed itself on so many PC systems without permission. And malware to be cleaned from a system. I think that Windows 10 is not a professional OS, and many businesses agree, and see Windows 10 as a debacle to be avoided, with nothing to be gained over previous versions of Windows, but rather the liabilities of it being a perpetual beta OS, filled with a bunch of consumer crapware and half-baked phone/mobile apps that have no business on a PC. August 2014: Why did Microsoft lay off 'Programmatic testers'? With Microsoft having halved the number of their OS testing engineers, there were bound to be differences between traditional Windows QA and modern Windows QA results: July 2014: Satya Nadella Is Cutting 5,500 Microsoft Employees, Too, With Windows Hit The Hardest July 2014: Microsoft cuts 18,000 jobs July 2015: Microsoft cuts another 7,800 jobs, takes $7.6 billion "impairment charge" July 2016: Microsoft to cut about 2,850 more jobs January 2017: About 700 Microsoft employees will be laid off next week, sources say July 2017: Microsoft plans thousands of job cuts in a sales staff overhaul to fuel cloud growth January 2018: Microsoft makes a new round of layoffs across multiple business units March 2017: Microsoft claims 10 million ‘fans’ help it test Windows 10, but it’s sure got a funny definition of that word Today's Windows is not the Windows we are familiar with, and today's Microsoft is not the Microsoft we are familiar with. I think that both of those things, in their modern forms, are shit. And, in both my opinion, and experience with using Windows 10 since its release, using Windows 10 is sort of like walking through a minefield, in that you never know when something is going to screw something up, or even everything up, but you know that there are issues lying in wait to go off, all over the place. And every so often, sometimes frequently, something happens to create frustration, and requires work, sometimes a lot of work, to get sorted out. My conclusion: Windows 10 is a hyper-invasive, user-fighting, buggy, perpetual beta/demo version of Windows, that is ad-supported, and which is a constant chore and headache to keep set up, and to get it to do what a user wants it to. On the other hand, Windows 7, at least up until June / July 2015, behaves like it is the full version of Windows, which just works, obeys the user, and doesn't collect a user's data for resale to make MS money, and doesn't try to trick the user at every turn, or even at all. In my view, Windows 10 is a snake-oil OS, and many people are merely caught up in a sentiment they have of Windows 10 being new and the future, and they just want to ride that fluffy feeling while shutting down their minds completely. Meanwhile, the I find reality to be that Windows 10 has less useful functionality than Windows 7, is a lot less stable and reliable than Windows 7, is less user-friendly than Windows 7, offers a PC admin less control than Windows 7, is more invasive than Windows 7, has in-OS ads which Windows 7 doesn't, has an excess of bloatware pre-installed while Windows 7 doesn't, and constantly resets customised file-associations to force people into using MS applications, which Windows 7 doesn't do. 22. I know I could probably figure out how to build a PC myself but I'm lazy lol. So I watched Linus's prebuilt buying reviews and it scared me away from most of them, mainly for the performance differences. With that being the case I'm looking at ordering a PC from Maingear or NZXT. Any thoughts on quality? Or should I look somewhere else? Thanks

  24. I recently watched Linus' and other channels videos on Apple's lack of repair service, and after doing my part to support the Right to Repair Movement I decided to go ahead and make this edited image of the movie poster "Robots." I remember watching this movie as a child and thinking it didn't really apply to the modern day...I was very. Very. VERY. Wrong. Although I wish I wasn't. It almost perfectly parallels what is going on with apple. For those of you who haven't seen it (SPOILERS AHEAD), this movie is about robot life; no humans exist. As such, robots (much like real life computers) need the occasional repair and spare parts. Except in this world the main company to supply those spare parts are starting to release only new parts, without providing repairmen either. The main character is THE repair bot and manages to take down the anti-spare-parts agenda, paving the way for easier repairs and a myriad of customization. In my opinion this aligns with apple's lack of a repair and customization agenda and the Right to Repair Movement's fight against it. If anyone has suggestions or critiques of the image or the parallels I am drawing, please let me know. Thanks all! Sidenote: couldn't find a better place than off-topic to put this -Darkroe
  25. Hi LTT community! I've been a long time subscriber of Linus, however this is my first post on the forum. After my previous 1080p 75hz display broke I'm looking to get an upgrade and the choice is between a 75 hz 1440p monitor or a 144hz 1080p screen, as the title suggests, both from Asus. I play Cs Go, Dead by Daylight and openworld games and I belive that each option would improve my gaming experience in diffrent ways. So could you ever go back from 1440p/144hz and which option do you recommend? My CPU is an intel core i5 6600k @4.3 Ghz and my GPU is a Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4 GB. Cheers! Anton
