Budget (in USD): As cheap as possible but probably 300 USD. If something truly better then 400 USD. I am buying this in America so a direct link to the best option is appreciated. Are you open to refurbs/used? List one refurb option just in case. Priorities Performance. Battery life isn't that big of a consideration. How important is weight and thinness to you? Not too much. As I understand it laptops aren't thick like they used to be 15 years ago. Preferred screen size 16/17" is preferred but 15 is fine too. List which programs/games you desire to run. Primarily Tally ERP, Chrome, browsing the internet and Word. Other information: Is it really good enough to have a dual core laptop? All options below 500 USD seem to be dual core and I want this laptop to last at least 5-7 years so I thought a quad core would be essential. Is that not the case?

Hi everyone! I'm thinking about getting new earphones, but I can't choose between the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 and LG TONE Free FN7. I've tried the latter and I know it fits, but I'm not sure about the Galaxy as I've never tried. I have an S20 FE and a Galaxy Watch4 (and MAYBE I'll buy a Samsung tablet later this year), so the sound quality should be better and I can use their "ecosystem" stuff. What do you think, which one should I get?

I'm a 4th year Mechanical Engineering student who is looking to buy a secondary device. I'm extremely sorry if this is the wrong place, it's my first time using the forums. I need it to be lightweight and portable since I want it to largely replace my laptop (a huge heavy gaming laptop). My budget is about 75,000 INR (~1000 USD) and I hope to buy the device mid-March and I need to have the device before the End of March. I'm planning on buying an 11-inch M1 iPad Pro 128 Gb version with an Apple Pencil, I need to know if it makes sense for me. My main uses are: Running Citrix Workspace, and occasionally code for my current internship Almost all of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams as well I want to get into 3D modelling (not CAD) and freelance a little in that field. I used to draw/sketch a lot, I want to get into it again, obviously digitally in this case (not a necessity) A second display/device to multi-task with college projects and internship at the same time. (A second monitor might work but I don't have the space for it on my desk) I do CAD modelling on my laptop and it's not something I intend to do on the other device, I'd love to view CAD Models on it though. The portability is an important factor since my current laptop and charger are almost 3.5 Kg and I've been avoiding work since it's a pain to carry it. As I asked before, I honestly need to know if it even makes sense to buy this. I'm not sure if it's the best. I use tech for a long time so whatever the device, I intended for it to work for at least 6ish years, and this is my second tech purchase with my own money so I'm extra careful (learning the importance of money) Main Concerns: Is the Samsung Tab a better option? I do not have any other iOS devices, not sure if that will cause an issue. Is a thin and light laptop a better option? (I'm concerned about their power in my budget) I have a Bluetooth keyboard to use it at my home but I will need to spend extra for keyboard case at some point in the future. I will start travelling a little and need to use it outside my house from April End. Am I not making the best decision? Edit: I'm sorry if it looks like I'm being extra stupid or if I'm not making sense. I'm extremely confused and on a limited budget since I'm paying for this and not my parents.

2 in 1 Need help choosing between 4 laptops
No_RGB_No_PC posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Disclaimer: long post Hello. In my quest to find the perfect laptop to buy I have narrowed it down to 4 options. My many focuses are on display quality, colors, and size. My plan is to use this laptop for general school use (writing essays, taking notes, etc.) and content consumption (streaming movies & tv, youtube, etc.) The 4 laptops are below: Option 1: HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop - 15t-es000PC touch Specs Price (No tax): $1109.99 ($1064.99 with student discount) CPU/GPU: i7-1165G7 with Intel Iris Xe GPU RAM 16 GB DDR4-3200 (2x8 GB) Display: 15.6" diagonal FHD, IPS, micro-edge WLED-backlit, multitouch-enabled, edge-to-edge glass, 400 nitsB (1920 x 1080) SSD: 512 GB Pros Big Screen (great for multitasking and content consumption) Great sound (Built-in Bang & Olufsen) Cons Average display ( 350-400 nits, sRGB=99%, ADOBE RGB=76%, DCI-P3=75%) Heavy (~4 lbs, not the easiest to use in tablet mode; I could probably get used to this) Mushy keyboard Bit-depth unknown (probably 8-bit, could be 6-bit) Option 2: Lenovo Yoga 9i 14" Specs Price (No tax): $1,469.99 (No student discount) CPU/GPU: i7-1165G7 with Intel Iris Xe GPU RAM 16 GB LPDDR4X-4266 Display: 14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, touchscreen with Dolby Vision™, 400 nits SSD: 512 GB Pros Good size screen (balance between size & tablet-mode/portability) Good tactile keyboard Cons Average display (350-400 nits, sRGB=99%, ADOBE RGB=74%, DCI-P3=75%,) Most expensive option Sound not as good as other laptops (Mainly HP & Dell) Bit-depth unknown (probably 8-bit, could be 6-bit) Option 3: Samsung Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha Specs Price (No tax): $1,049.99 ($679.99 with student discount) CPU/GPU: i7-1165G7 with Intel Iris Xe GPU RAM 16 GB LPDDR4X Display: 13.3" FHD QLED SSD: 512 GB Pros Beautiful Display (400-600 nits, QLED, sRGB=99%, ADOBE RGB=N/A, DCI-P3=96%, 8-bit) Tactile keyboard Light and portable Cons Small screen (not that good for multitasking and content consumption) Sound not as good as other laptops (Mainly HP & Dell) Option 4: Dell XPS 13 (9310 2n1) Specs Price (No tax): $1,449.99 ($1,371.99 with student discount) CPU/GPU: i7-1165G7 with Intel Iris Xe GPU RAM 16 GB LPDDR4X-4267 Display: 13.4" 16:10 FHD+ WLED Touch Display (1920 x 1200) SSD: 512 GB Pros 16:10 display Display is above average (450 nits, sRGB=100%, ADOBE RGB=78%, DCI-P3=79%, 8-bit) Great sound Cons Expensive small-ish display (not the best for multitasking and content consumption) The main conflict is display size vs display quality as well as price. The HP ENVY has the largest display which I love but the display isn't as good as the Flex2 Alpha or XPS. Same with the Yoga 9i, it has the best display size in my opinion but the worst quality display and is the most expensive. The XPS has the second best display and is 16:10 which is great for productivity and has great audio, but it is the second most expensive and the display is small-ish. The Flex2 Alpha has the best display out of the 4 but also has the smallest display. I know that which laptop to get ultimately comes down to personal preference, but I have been going over it for days and just can not decide on which one to get. Which of the 4 laptops would you get and why? Thanks for all the advice. -
Hello, I am looking to buy a budget laptop for my sister mainly for her college. She is a medical student that would need Microsoft Office apps (Word/PowerPoint) along with some 3D anatomy stuff. I had to find something portable with a good decent battery life. I found these two options at Amazon of my country: HP 15-dw2081ne (Core™ i5-1035G1 processor, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce MX130 2GB). Huawei MateBook D (AMD Ryzen 5 3500U, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD +1TB HDD). Both laptops seem good with FHD displays at 1080p. The HP one is $50 cheaper than Huawei's. Now the factor that would make me choose either of them is League of Legends, as she plays this game only. Which one of these laptops is going to be better on the game with higher settings and more FPS? I searched YouTube and both seem okay, but which of them is absolutely gonna take over the other here or just as overall gonna be a better laptop for all her needs? For now I'm leaning more towards the Huawei MateBook as it has way more storage than the HP (1TB HDD along with the 256GB SSD) and the extra RAM. Thanks in advance.

Currently looking for a gaming laptop, I was originally looking at systems under £800 as you can see in my previous post, but on review, I think that may be a touch unrealistic. Especially taking into account for the fact that I want to be able to use it for a good few years at least. Previous Post: So, now I think I've narrowed it down to two of Asus' offerings. The A15 and the FX505DV. They are both the same price with the same financing options, I'm just unsure of which would be the better option for me. The A15 has the new Ryzen 7 4800H processor and a GTX1660Ti graphics card, whereas the FX505 has a Ryzen 7 3750H and an RTX 2060 graphics card. I have no idea which is really the best option for me, I want a competent gaming experience and reasonable future proofing, bearing in mind this will be a secondary gaming system for me. Is the performance difference going from the 1660Ti to the 2060 worth it to drop to half the core count in the processor? I will be getting my first nice mouse soon for CSGO and general editing and stuff. I'm thinking about getting the Logitech G502 with a Steelseries Qck+. Two questions, will this be a good mouse and mousepad combo for CSGO? And also, I will be keeping this mouse for a long time and don't know how the mouse update cycle, so when will a new version come out, since I like to buy things as soon as a new updated version comes out.

Hi, this is my first post here, I had a question about mechanical keyboards, more specifically, which ones should I buy. I have heard great things about Ducky boards, and Also Coolermaster Boards. Corsair is off the table, as they gave me a shitty keyboard once, will never buy one from them again(not to say they are a bad company, just they don't make the best Keyboards). Any other reccomendations are welcome, although I am only looking for full sized keyboards with a standard ANSI layout under 120 USD. Macro or media keys are nice, but not something I would like enough to go over budget for. RGB is also a must have. If you see any sales, please link them. *EDIT I FORGOT TO SAY I LIKE CHERRY MX BLUES!

Not really in a rush, so I'll probably be waiting on sales for any suggestions. Previous suggestions ive gotten were the 1060 6gb, RX580 (if i can even get one) and even cheap 970. So after numerous budget changes and looking around for the last week, the Razor Blade Stealth, specifically the i7-8565U 1080p Matte display model with 16gb ram, 256gb SSD and the 25W MX150, seems to be an almost perfect laptop for me, as I'll be doing some light gaming, video editing and administrative work, and want a small portable package, plus the inclusion of thunderbolt 3 should help to future proof this, the only downside for me at least being the price. I'm able to pick this unit up for £1279 (~1560USD) which while I can afford, it's still more than I've ever paid for a laptop and probably is the maximum I'll be willing to pay, so before I bite the bullet I was hoping to see if anyone had some useful feedback on this laptop or can recommend anything better for less? I'll be buying off of Amazon to make use of their 30day no hassle returns as judging by reviews the QC on this laptop doesn't seem too good, also being in Europe I do get the 2 year warranty should anything go wrong after that. Thanks in advance!

Looking for a lightweight laptop for school, video editing and occasional gaming. I found a refurbished xps 15 for 960 but I am worried about temps however I can't find that much on the ps63 which is 1000usd. Which laptop would you recommend and why?

Hi all, I'm looking for a new 15.6" laptop that would last me a couple of years in uni, and have been for a while now. It's an incredibly painful task as I always hit a snag whenever I find one I might otherwise consider. I don't plan on playing any new AAA games for the most part, maybe a few (but my current rig will be staying at home so I'll be able to use it over the weekend for that anyway). I'd still like to have enough power to comfortably handle older games, esports games or indies (and osu) at 1080p60fps, which is why I'm thinking of a 1050 or 1050ti woud be a good pick (an mx150 probably wouldn't be enough so I've been excluding it and everything worse than the 1050). I'm okay with an i5 8300H or a similarly performing cpu, as it's similar to the 4770 I have now which is enough for what I'll generally be doing The U variants of both newer i5s and i7s are okay as well as long as they aren't much worse than my 4770. If nothing else has to be compromised, I dont mind paying a bit extra for something a bit better like a 8750H or something between these two. The big problem here, at least for me is the screen, as I'll be doing some adept drawing and other color work. It doesn't need to be great, but I'd like to have at least 90% sRGB coverage, which is similar to what I've been using so far. IPS isn't a necessity as I don't need great viewing angles or brightness (I'll mostly be using it indoors), as long as the color reproduction and similar stuff is okay. This is where I've had most of my problems, as most great laptops I've found, even with IPS panels, only had 60% coverage which is bad just by looking at it, let alone even thinking of doing any such work on there. Otherwise, 60Hz is enough for me, but I certainly don't mind 120 or 144Hz to give me a better experience in league or something. Of course, 1080p is all I need. I of course dont mind going higher, but I'm pretty sure such screens are reserved for either worse specced or much pricier and premium laptops, neither of which I want. I'm not too worried about things like battery life and portability that much, as long as it isn't below average, i'm okay with it. 8GB of ram and a small ssd and hdd (or an m.2 slot + 2.5" slot, either of them taken or free) is enough as long as it's upgradeable (doesn't have to be easy, I'm fairly adept at taking apart laptops). It can also be a refurb, at least I'm assuming it can be, as from what I've heard and checked, those are usually safe picks to get. For my budget, I'm looking up to 1200€ max, preferably lower. I could go higher, but I've found a decent refurb strix II for 1300€ that has an 8750H, a 144hz 90% sRGB screen and a 1060mq, so at that price point I might as well throw the extra 100€ and just get that instead. I might eventually end up going with that anyway if I don't find any better pick, but the further down from that 1300€ I go, the more I save for my next build after I'm done with uni. I'd like to note that, not only I'm from EU which, from my experience already has higher prices on electronics than say the USA, but i'm from Slovenia and over here the whole computer electronics market is incredibly messed up and illogical. What might cost 900€ elsewhere costs between 1000-1200€ here, so please leave some extra spacing with recommendations. It was insanely hard looking for such a specific niche laptop, especially as it's incredibly difficult to find panel specs for specific models of laptops, and many reviews don't cover those as well (god bless Jarrod's tech, Notebookcheck and Ultrabookreview). I've found some insane value TUF FX504s with an 8300H and 1050ti, but from what I've researched those particular models of laptops have pretty crappy screens (though on the site it says 130% sRGB which has been seriously bothering me because so far I haven't found any review claiming any fx504s have more than 60% coverage on any panel). There's just no way to look up a specific model number after the generic model number, for example "fx504" or "fx505", to make sure that particular one is okay. This is also why I've thrown out most other (comparably much cheaper) gaming laptops out, not because of the design or bulk, but because everyone had the same story: I saw the specs, they seemed good; I saw the price, it seemed good; I spent 2 hours looking up reviews just to later find out it's sRGB gamut is 60% or even below. It's been an incredibly painful two months of looking up laptops. I'm well aware that finding a laptop whenever your parameters are anything other than "price" or "raw performance/specs" is a dreadful experience (a friend has been through something similar just recently), but I never expected it to be this bad. Worst case scenario, which isn't that horrible anyway, I'll be going for that scar. I'd like to try and save some more money if possible as I'll probably rarely use that 1060mq's full potential during my next couple of years. Thank you all in advance for any replies, and happy gpu dropping.

I need help finding a laptop that would be good for both computer science and gaming. I plan on ordering something in a few days as I will be going to uni soon. As of right now I live in Maryland USA but in a few weeks I will be going to Germany for school. My budget is about $2000 to $2400. I've already tried a Razer Blade 15 advanced (i7 8750h and 2070 max q) but returned that due to loud coil whine and have also tried a Asus gx502 (i7 9750h and 2070) but returned that as well due to a few physical defects. Due to this I am somewhat afraid of having issues with another laptop. I would prefer something that isn't too heavy (I'm willing to carry up to 6 pounds around) and I'm not to concerned whether it is 17" or 15" as long as I can carry it around if needed. I don't intend to use it in class but might use it for class work on campus. Battery life isn't too much of a concern as I am not expecting to use this sort of laptop in situations where I'm far from a outlet. 4 to 6 hours would be considered a bonus in my opinion. I would prefer something that is max p but I'm open to max q as well. I'm looking to buy from a place such as hidevolution as I've heard many gaming laptops aren't exactly cool and I'd like to do all I can to keep temps reasonable and fan noise not too loud (I'd say 58db is getting too loud for me but I can live with it if it means better thermals). I'd consider both thunderbolt 3 and Gsync as bonuses and not essential. I did find this on amazon, the Acer Triton 500 with 2080 max q, but I'm a bit weary of the inverted motherboard. I'd like to be able to easily access ram and M.2 slots so this wouldn't be ideal, but I can't find anything as small for the price. Thoughts? Is there any major downside to getting an i7 8750h over an i7 9750h? Thanks in advance!

Hello internet, I need your assistance (sorry if this isnt in the right spot, this post didn't seem to fit in any category as it deals with VR and GPU/buying advice etc)! I have a decision to make, I want to get into VR but don't want to deal with being tethered in one spot, so when I saw the quest I got excited and thought this could be it, however the games are limited and are pricey so I got even more excited when the Oculus Link was announced so that I could play steam games that I own. This comes to my second issue, my PC isn't powerful enough to run VR with high FPS (link to userbenchmark w/specs Here). The games I would mainly be playing in VR would be Minecraft (vivecraft) and maybe VRchat with a few other misc ones thrown in as well as watching movies and the like. My question is this: I have saved up for the quest (64 gig version @ 400 bucks) but don't know if I should get the quest (when ever its even back in stock, could be a month from now or more due to delays) and play the native games/ try my luck on getting playable frames on my current setup, OR upgrade my GPU now for better performance overall (I was thinking 2060-2060 super? Open to suggestions on that too for around 400) and wait on getting the quest/wait for the next gen untethered VR headset to come out. So I turn to you, smart people of the forum to ask what I should do. Any advice would be appreciated! ~Fox

Hello guys, I see the Asus VivoBook F510UA get regularly recommended in different forums in 500-599$ price range. But I can't see the AMD version of it recommended or discussed anywhere. I can't even find any reviews online. As I see the main different is the CPU (i5 8250u vs Ryzen 5 2500u) which performs roughly equivalently as I read multiple reviews. And the AMD laptop has 256 GB SSD instead of 1 TB HDD of the Intel one. The other specifications (even the design) seems pretty equal. Shouldn't it be a good buy? Or am I missing something?? Pls give your opinion as I plan to buy it today on cyber Monday (a few hours left) P.S. There are also some major confusions. The title in the Asus page says it has 1TB SSHD, but the specs below (and newegg page) shows 256 GB SSD !! Also the newegg page title shows the processor is dual-core. But the specs below shows quad-core. Also R5 2500u is quad-core as I see online. It's all getting so confusing. Pls help me with the right information and opinion. Thanks.

I have a budget of £1000 to spend on a new laptop it will be mainly used for studying, needs to be able to handle a stressful office workload, normal to have 20 tabs open. it needs to have a decent battery life do that it can last a full day of university. I have been looking at the HP envy x360 15.6 R7 4700u which is £900 but the only concern I have is the 250 nits display with 45% NTSC compared to the 13 inch model which is 300nits but 72% NTSC but it costs £1000. I am also open to other suggestions as long as it is £1000 or below and available to buy in the UK. Thanks

Hello! I have been currently looking for a laptop but I'm having complications finding one. I'm on a $850 budget and I plan to use the laptop for Art, Music Production/DJing, and mid tier gaming (meaning I won't be using it for triple A games but mostly games like Minecraft and and low polygon games) I'm mostly looking to buy one during Cyber Monday but is there any laptops I should look out buying? Thanks!

Looking at laptops for college and was wondering which one of these I should get for schoolwork and some gaming. Ive found 2. One is a Zenbook with a i7-770HQ, 1050ti (4GB), and 16GB ram with about 10 hours of battery life. Also there is the Dell G3 with a i7-8750H, 1060 Max-Q, 16GB ram with only like 4 hours of battery. Was wondering which one people think I should go with. Was leaning toward ZenBook but i feel that it will be outdated much sooner than G3. Thoughts?
