laptop I need laptop shopping advice
Kevin.Sahlstrom posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I have been scouring the internet for about an hour and I've only found 3 options. I'm looking for a laptop with a 4080 and a Ryzen 9 CPU and from my extreme googling there aren't many options. I'm looking at the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17. or the ASUS ROG Zephyrus DUO 16 (but the Duo 16 is a bit over my budget) most important part is the cooling and performance. how the keyboard feels or how the monitor looks is almost completely irrelevant. since I'm connecting it to a setup and the laptop will stay stationary most of its life. But I still need a laptop since i travel overseas twice a year, I do physical 3d classes and online classes. "Most of it's life" is more like 250 days out of 365 I'm going for a Ryzen CPU since I'll be doing a lot of 3d rendering and a lot of editing. 4080 is the highest I can go. and I need good opticx performance and raytracing. budget is around 3k. but even that is pushing it. -
Budget (including currency): $500-$1,000(AUD) Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video games(1440p, 140hz), mostly play MMO's and first person shooters. Linked is my current viable parts: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/JYstZZ I need to replace my current ram, motherboard, CPU and cooler. I had one of my ram sticks fail so I've been living with 12 Gb's of ram for a while which hasn't been ideal, I also damaged said ram slot removing the damaged stick hence the need to replace the motherboard, I figure if I'm going to be replacing the motherboard I may as well upgrade my CPU at the same time, I would prefer Intel just because I would safer with a brand I brand I'm already familiar with. Mostly just need some advice on what parts to pick up, I sincerely appreciate any and all advice you can provide.

Budget: Ram: $150* - If I should go with 2 x 16gb ram then I'd like to stay around $150. 2 x 8's aren't crazy expensive so if that's the case only worried about quality sticks. Motherboard: $250ish range. Less wouldn't be bad. Cooling: $100-$150 preferably Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming/Work. Primarily FPS but would like the RPG's to look nice. Work-life has more multitasking involved. Putting together a mostly new build with a Ryzen 7 5800x, which is a switch from my old Intel so ending up with a mobo swap and figured ram could do with an upgrade as well. Couple other questions mixed in. Already own. CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (Not super) <- Will probably swap this out next year. PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Gold 750w Modular <-Will this handle a future GPU upgrade? Ram: Looking at Patriot Viper SS 3600 16gb(2 x 8) Crucial Ballistix 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 Worth noting - I don't care about the RGB at all. Might even prefer it without. I was looking up compatibility and noticed that the Crucial Ballistix don't show as compatible with the ASUS TUF Gaming Pro, but that seems strange as it's a newer board. Mobo: Looking for something in the $250 or less range. Considerations - MSI x570 Tomahawk ASUS TUF Gaming x570-Pro I'm not sure if I'm missing any sort of significant differences in these two. I'd like to have the bios flashback and USB-c upgrade (for the TUF Pro over the Plus). I realize finding stock may be in an issue for these boards as well. Case: Lian-Li Mesh 2 Performance Cooling: I've read that the 5800x runs a bit hot and can greatly benefit from an AIO cooler. Open to suggestions on this up to 360mm radiator. The Arctic II seems to have solid reviews for its price-point. SSD: 970 EVO Plus x2 ---------- Peripherals: Keyboard + Mouse Gamepad - Orbweaver Desktop Mic Headphones Dual Monitors. Currently 144hz 1080p Not looking to change any of the peripherals at the moment, just listing for components sake. -Thank you for any assistance-

Budget (including currency): 100 euro Country: EU; Baltic states; Latvia Im thinking about getting an AIO because of the idea of this build. Right now i've stopped at liquid freezer ii 240 or 280 variant. Ofcourse i could go with a air cooler but then it wouldn't be funny. The idea is to make a meme build, with that i mean lian li o11d mini as a case; p5 plus or p1 as ssd; chinese motherboard with xeon and ECC memory. That's it for now, TIA and have a good day

So, I have a relative who is a choir director, and in this current time, they want to make a choir video of their students singing. They came to me (me being the family tech support) and said hey, can you put together about 30 clips in one video. I'm not the most experienced user of Premiere Pro, so I have no idea if this is even possible. Also, they said they would be willing to upgrade my PC to do this. I don't exactly have the most powerful rig. Tl;DR, I need to put 30 videos split screen into one video and I need to find a budget (but solid) rig to do it with. I already have a mATX rig, so mATX boards are appreciated if you would like to recommend a config. Mainly upgrades would just be CPU, MOBO, and GPU. Questions for people who REALLY don't want to read: 1: Can I combine 30 videos into one split screen video? 2: What kind of budget rig would do that? Thanks!

Budget (including currency): $2500 USD Country: United States of America Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Gaming: Fallout, Arma 3, FS2020, X Plane, DCS, VR, Squad, KSP 2 (hopefully soon!) etc. - Music Production: Ableton 10, Pro tools, FLstudio - Maybe some CAD programs in the future like NX12 or solidworks but that's not a main priority. Other details I would like peripherals to be included in the cost. I assume I will need to purchase a windows license too. Eventually I would like to upgrade these peripherals to a multi monitor setup with HOTAS for flight simulators like DCS world but for now Id just like one nice monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I can't decide between 1440 or 1080. Anyways, I have never built a PC before but I am not afraid to try! I am just very intimidated by the process of selecting which components are going to be in the build and sorting out compatibility. My budget is pretty firm but I would like to buy once and cry once so to speak, so going slightly over budget isn't automatically a deal breaker. I would like to build this PC as a devoted gaming rig as the only programs other than games I may run for any significant period of time would be DAWs and other music production software. I guess the standard request is to maximize my performance as much as possible while leaving some room for potential future upgrades to try to fight my machine being obsolete after a few years. As I stated previously, the only taxing upgrade I plan on getting in the future is a better set of monitors but for now I only need one. I am not sure what other details may be relevant to help you all make your suggestions but please let me know if you happen to have any questions. I really appreciate the help and look forward to reading your suggestions! EDIT: I wanted to add that I will have to transport this PC in long car rides occasionally so I was wondering if there is any hardware made to increase the number of mounting points between heavy components in the case and the case itself. My concern is that if I hit a bump in the road the mounting point for something like the cpu cooler or the graphics card may break due to the jostling. Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Budget (including currency): Maximum of about £500 Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I'm doing a Games Design MSc and will hopefully be entering the industry afterwards, so will need to use UE4 (5 when its out), Unity, Adobe Suit (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects). I also play many different games and types of game over time so hard to list them, but currently I've got back into playing PUBG as my main one. Other details: My current build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/HuwWeaver/saved/#view=xMXmP6 Hey all! I'm looking to upgrade my PC somepoint soon - its 4 or 5 years old now with no major upgrades so its about time it had one! I've used it for all my gaming since I've had it, and used it for much of the games dev I've done over the past 3 years on the Games Design and Programming BSc I graduated from this year. The link to my current build can be found above - like I say its about 5 years old now and has worked well the entire time, but its definitely about time for an upgrade and given I've gotten a bit more from my student loan this year and a new job, I've finally got a bit more money spare that I can use for it. This was my first PC build so I got a friend to pick out all the parts for me originally - I know a bit more about it all now but I'm still by no means an expert, hence why I'm asking your advice! I may end up waiting until the Black Friday sales so I can get things cheaper, but if I can know what I'm looking for early that would be great! I'm thinking it needs atleast a Motherboard, CPU, and RAM upgrade, but to exactly what is where I'm unsure. Any help y'all can give would be great, thanks!

Hello, this is my first time posting here, but i have been asking around and getting a lot of mixed commentary, i am not entirely sure how to proceed so any advice would be quite welcomed. I am looking to try and upgrade my PC, but too be truthful, i want to get the most "bang" for my buck out of the types of things i do, which for the majority is gaming, both singleplayer current release titles at highest settings and mmo gaming Blade and Soul being a major focus for me., game emulation, a ton of multitasking with music players, browsers, multiple game clients, and some times watching a video while gaming. I am hopeful to try and get into streaming in the future. but right now i just do not feel i have the net speed for it. My PC build is as follows. Case NZXT Phantom (Original) Mother Board Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Revision 4 CPU AMD 6350 (no over clock) Stock cooler Ram 8x2 Gskill TridentX DDR3 1600 7 cas GPU Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X Edition (8 gig ram) PSU EVGA Supernova 1050 Watt Gold SSD Intel 730 240gig HDD 1tb Western digital Blue Running two moniters, an Asus throw away (not that good, 1920x1080 and primary moniter is a Samsung S24C650 1920x1200. i have roughly a 900$ budget, and was trying to consider my options for a good upgrade, even considering moving to Intel 6700K, with a Gigabyte Gaming 7 MB and 16 gigs of ram. but as i said, i really would like some input on what would be the best bang for the buck in noticeable upgrade. and if skylake is the best upgrade a good non overclock cooler that would fit in my case.

Budget (including currency): ~$800-900 usd Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I'll mostly be using this for gaming. I'm relatively new to pc gaming so I'm not quite sure what I'll be playing. I'm not really into triple A competitive games. I'm not sure what I'll be playing because I've been to scared to spend my money on a game that might not be able to run on my current pc. Other details: Windows computer. I already have a keyboard, mouse, and 1080p monitor. I'm upgrading from an old retail pc from 2015 that costs less than $500 (very bad). I plan on building sometime before August or September. I want to play games at 1080p and 60fps. I don't care too much about fancy peripherals or rgb, just that it perform well enough. I don't plan on getting a 2nd monitor anytime soon. I'm hoping that this pc will last me a few years before I need to build a new one (might upgrade a few parts in the future). Looking for suggestions to lower the price. This is my first pc build, any help? Pc part picker link with the parts I picked out so far. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TheFurball/saved/N8JTMp
