I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE NB WORKS! I Put 2400mhz Ram on My System and when i put the XMP on, it changed to those settings 2400mhz CL10-12-12-31, DDR Voltage 1.65v and HT-Link 2400mhz. However my motherboard changed my NB to 2400mhz and CPU/NB voltage from 1.2v to 1.4v automatically. Why? When i Run my system to see with HWinfo64 the CPU/NB Voltage, at load it was 1.47V... is this safe? The other thing is DRAM:FSB Ratio is 36:6, what is the perfect Ratio for AMD FX? and How can i change the FSB Ratio? I Want to know the absolute safe CPU/NB Voltage and NB Temp, because i don't want it to degrade. And if someone can explain to me how the RAM->Memory Controller->HT-Link->NB are interacting with each other. For Example: AMD FX has a Memory Controller that handles the RAM and then there is HT-Link that connects the CPU with the 990FX NB and the NB handles the GPU and other staff, so when the NB is Running at 2400Mhz does the Memory controller run at 2400Mhz aswell? or the Memory controller Speed is sync with the HT-Link? Theoretically the Memory Controller Speed is the FSB that i need to Tweak to try to make the DRAM:FSB Ratio to be perfect I Want to know how i can Tweak My System Right for the 2400mhz Ram... Here is my system Mobo: 990FX Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z (Stock NB 2200mhz, HT-Link 2200mhz) CPU : AMD FX-8350 4.5Ghz 1.4v(1.344v on load), LLC Medium, 130% Power, VRM Phase Standard(Prime95 Blend all Passed). CPU : Cooler: Zalman CNPS20X RAM : G.Skill Tridant X 2400MHz CL10-12-12-31 CR2 1.65V(Memtest86 passed). My Voltage seems right AND Here is AIDA64 CPUID CPU-Z says FSB:DRAM Ratio 1:6

Hi there, In 2017 I built a PC with the following components: Mobo: MSI 970 Gaming CPU: AMD FX 8350 Black Edition CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X RAM: HyperX FURY 2x8GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 SSD: Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB GPU: Sapphire AMD RX480 Nitro+ 8GB PSU: Corsair RM550X WiFi Card: TP-LINK TL-WN851ND 300Mbps LED Card: NZXT 2m LED Cable There are two case fans. The machine ran perfectly for around a year and then started freezing randomly. This isn’t a blue screen, it just freezes on whatever is on the display. Only way to shutdown is to hold the power button. There is no overclocking active in the BIOS. I originally had the RAM in slots 1 & 3, but read the motherboard manual and saw that 2 & 4 are recommended so I swapped them over. Eventually within a day or so it froze again. The freezing is so intermittent and no way of triggering it. I can a game fine for hours, then when I close the game and browse the desktop is can freeze. I can boot the computer up fresh and it will freeze logging in. Sometimes it will freeze just browsing the internet. Sometimes it will freeze a couple of times in a quick succession, sometimes it won’t freeze at all. I’d added a 1TB HDD to the system during all this also. I hadn’t used the PC for a while and only started using it again recently and the freezing still exists and I’m not determined to solve it. I’ve tried disconnecting the HDD to save some power. But still it froze. I reseated the GPU, RAM and disconnected/reconnected power cables. It ran smooth for about a day, so then I removed the RAM and just sat one module in slot 1. This ran well for around 3 days I thought I’d solved it. I removed the RAM module and sat the other module in slot 2 but it eventually froze. I have done some reading online for MSI 970 and AMD FX 8350, it mentioned about over and under volting the CPU I tried both but it eventually froze. I read that VRMs could over-heat. I downloaded HWInfo/Monitor and the motherboard temperature was around 30-40 degC. I stress tested the machine using AIDA64 and it didn’t cause a crash. I ran a windows memory check and it didn’t detail any issues. I’ve formatted the SSD and re-installed Windows 10. Still it completely randomly freezes. The only things I can now think to try are different RAM <1866MHz, a different (perhaps larger) PSU and finally try a different motherboard… If anyone has some suggestions or thoughts as to what might be causing the issue or what I can do further to troubleshoot it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Like the title says, I have a problem with adding a third monitor to my set up. Gaming in 2 monitors, I hardly see any FPS drops when in 1080p in one monitor, and other monitor is idled at the desktop with nothing running on it, however when I add a third monitor, I experience huge FPS drops up to 30-40 fps in certain games when gaming in 1080p in my main monitor and the other two monitors on idle. No idea what could cause that huge amount of FPS drops when the other monitor's are just idled at the desktop background with no other windows, browsers, etc running while gaming on the main monitor at 1080p. Just to clarify again, I am NOT gaming on all 3 monitors, just ONE monitor at 1080p while the other two have nothing on it, just idled at desktop background. System specs: CPU: AMD FX 8350 OC'ed at 4.5ghz w/Cooler Master 212 Evo GPU: GTX 1070 SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 1TB Sata III Motherboard: MSI 970A Gaming Pro Carbon AM3+ RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16gb PSU: Corsair CX750 80+ OS: Windows 10 Home Edition Monitors: All the same brand, AOC 27" IPS monitors. If these make any differences, but it shouldn't I think: Keyboard: Logitech G910 Mouse: Logitech G602 Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link Archer T9E AC1900 Dual-Band PCI Express

Hello i want to know how much ( not IF ) my cpu will bottleneck , i want to upgrade to a high end card , even though i know i dont really have the cpu for it. my cpu is a amd fx 8350 AM3 Socket with 32gb of DDR3 ram. ( i am planning to upgrade these but these things wont be upgraded soon ) i've checked a site to see what things would bottleneck my cpu. and so far it has said 1080 (13% bottleneck) and a titan x ( 15% bottleneck ) it wasn't able to check for 1080ti and titan xp which was a bummer. 15% was still in the green area though so you'd still get "most" out of it but not its full potential. which i can deal with i can always upgrade my stuff later. but for now i'd have to live with a high-end gpu and a mid-end cpu. how much would it bottleneck my cpu? i should still be in the green area if its under 20% bottleneck , and what would you recommend me getting out of the high end cards. in depth answers would be greatly appreciated. i am clearly not the best at this computer stuff but i really love it.

I'm using the stock cooler for the fx 8350. My case is the HAF cooler master 912. All of my non used cables are tied up in the back. I just upgraded my motherboard to the msi 970a gaming pro carbon (one that can actually run my fx-8350 fully), but the temps have been insane when it starts getting to work. Idle temps are fine. CPU will be at 20 - 30. Here are some things I went through. The first time I put in the mobo, cpu, and cooler. I ran a project on FL studio just to test things. No lag while running this FL project like I used to get with my old board, but the temp of my mobo and cpu as seen on speccy, core temp, and AMD Overdrive seemed much to high. (Though I didn't really check my temps until I put in this new mobo) All of the readings from the 3 programs line up with each other. After playing a project that would lag with my old mobo for about a minute, my mobo temp would be at like 79-81 while my cpu temp would be at 69/70I realized maybe my temps could be higher than normal because I didn't screw on the cpu cooler holder tight enough, and therefore the cpu cooler might have been loose. Lo and behold, it was loose. So I took it off, cleaned off the thermal paste from the cpu and the cooler, and put it back on tight this time. (It is notoriously hard to strap on the fx stock cooler to the MSI motherboard, so I loosen some of the screws on the plastic component that you lock to the cooler to in order to make it easier to strap on.) After I finished that, I tried playing that project on FL again for a minute and my temps were even hotter. 84/85 degrees for my mobo, 73/75 for my CPU... Ok so I figured maybe I shifted around the cooler too much on the CPU as I was trying to strap in on and it may have messed up the thermal paste application somehow. So I reaaplied thermal paste again, put on the cooler better, and now when I load up the project in FL, my mobo temp is at 81 and cpu temo at 73 before I even play the project! That did not happen before. Before this (yes I am cleaning off the paste well each time btw) when I would load up the FL project, before actually playing it my mobo temp would be at like 55-65 and CPU temp would be around 50...I have no idea what's going on. I've read the fx - 8350 is a hotter chip in general at 125 TDP, and is recocmended that I get an aftermarket cooler like the hyper 212 evo, but should my stuff have been THAT hot in the first place? My fans seem to work fine, and they adjust to the increased temps. And the fact that my temps have gotten worse every time I've tried to put on my cooler again... Any idea of what is going on or what I'm doing wrong, and how to go about fixing this? Also, Speccy lines up with AMD Overdrive in the sense that, if Speccy says my CPU is at 70, then my CPU thermal margin on AMD Overdrive will be at 0. I've seen my margin get to -11/-12 at times while loading up this project or playing it back.

I am running an AMD FX 8350 on a MSi 990FXA-GD80 MoBo. I got myself Watercooling (Alphacool Eiswand) because I wanted to push it over 5 GHz. My CPU takes it pretty good, I was running 4,73 GHz on air for over a year now (always under 55 degrees Celsius) Here's the problem: my MoBo does not offer more Volts than 1,445 or something. But I need 1,55 or 1,6 to do 5,1 GHz. So I read in many Forums that you can go higher on voltage with the MSi Control Center. Of course I have this installed so I build the cooling loop today and I wanted to try a fast OC just for testing. But in Control Center there are exactly the same voltage presets like in the BIOS so I am getting nowhere with that. So I would be glad if someone knows help to my problem with this old hardware. And I know that it might get to 1,6 volts when I set it to 1,4. But I want it to work. It's useless when the PC freezes 3 out of 4 benchmarks... And yes my build is really fucked up but I know what I am doing ? Also: the rest of my PC is able to handle this OC, I am not discussing about parts. The only thing is that voltage problem

This is my last resort, I can't find the answer anywhere else. Does anyone know the CFM requirement for an AMD FX 8350 cpu? I'm trying to replace the stock fan on mine (not the cooler itself) and I need to know the minimum CFM.

So the AMD FX 8350 is $160 USD at my local store, and I am wondering if it is actually a good processor. According to CPU Benchmark (https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8350+Eight-Core&id=1780) it stands up pretty well against Intel CPU's. I would only use it for low to mid gaming, nothing horrendous. Anyone had experience with this CPU? Thanks in advance P.S. Please don't let this be a hate on AMD thread. If you dont like the 8350 tell me why, and if you do like it tell me why.

Hi guys! I need to your help. I bought a EVGA GTX 970 SSC Yesterday and noticed that in BF4 I'm getting random drops and lower fps than expected. I don't know if my FX 8350 is bottlenecking my GPU or is it something else? I have even lowered the settings and still get low fps(to the 40s) in big explosions etc. Any suggestions? Here I will leave 2 videos that I recorded, showing the FPS and hardware monitor. First video is of BF4 on Ultra and the other one is of the Battlefront beta. Any help will be greatly appreciated and thanks! They might still be processing, but it was recorded at 1080p 60fps. Video 1: Video 2:

Hey there I am having some trouble with my computer and I was hoping someone could find out what's wrong or a solution to fix this. Basically my computer is freezing every now and then and I can't seem to figure out how. It's mostly (not always) when I am using chrome. Everything will stop working and it takes about 30 seconds for it to fix and it will go back to normal. It never happens when I am playing games and my fps seems fine. But something tells me its my RAM. I bought HyperX Fury 8GB but I accidently bought it in the 1 stick module and not 2x4 GB. I know silly me. anyway I was hoping someone could help. Could it be that my computer does not have use of dual channel and only single? I am getting another stick when I have the money as dual channel is always quicker. If you need to know specs just ask

So I've had my current rig since the beginning of 2011 and I decided it was time to upgrade. Currently I have a GTX 550Ti, a Phenom II X4 965, and a 620W Antec powersupply as well as a Gigabyte 880GMA usb3 AM3+ mobo. I am planning on buying the Gigabye Windforce GTX 970 and the FX 8350 as well as a new case (the H440) as my current one (Thermaltake V3) is too small to house the 3 fan GPU. My questions are: 1) Is this CPU GPU combo a good match? 2) Will 620W be enough to sustain these new components (I'm under the impression it will be but not sure) and 3) Are the 3 fans the H440 comes with adequate for cooling or should I pick up a few of Corsair's AF series fans to replace them? Thanks all!

You can check my build in my signature down below. I'm currently running my 8350 on stock cooling eagerly waiting to overclock it once I buy the proper 3d party heatsink/cooler. Any suggestions for suitable or even ideal cooling for the particular cpu? My mobo is up to the task I think.

Hi Guys, I'm a bit concerned, and I don't know to much about vcore's, mosfets etc., I just did my build with a ASUS Sabertooth 990fx R 2.0, AMD FX 8350 cooled by a Corsair h80i (in push/pull at the back of an Fractal Design R4 case) I wanted to test the cpu and gpu today by doing a bit of Folding@home, but after a (short) while ASUS Thermal Radar started to act up, the Vcore sensores was reporting 80 degress centigrade, while the cpu was running 15 degress cooler. I know that 80 degress is about max, but why does the vcores get THAT HOT, while the cpu is just chilling? In the motherboards defence, it is a very hot day, but still now at night there is a 13-16 degree diffrence. Should I be concerned, can I fix it? Thanks

im not going to repost my build again lol im using a gtx 660. this build is (for right now) gaming. im a freshman in college majoring in interective media & design (graphic arts, photo/video editing, web design and maybe animation). im not sure what programs i will use. i will not be replacing any of the parts i have any time soon after the pc is bought. i am currently going to buy an 8320 but im hearing intel with its 4 cores and hyper threading (i believe the 4570 has hyper threading) but i cant tell if this is just fanboys talking or not. most people seem to agree that intel is better if you can afford it and with the 4570 being the same price as the 8350, if i was to switch to a stronger processor should i go with the 8350 or the 4570? is there a need to switch cpu's(8350 or 4570)? i can fit it in the budget if you think i should. also if you think i should swap for an intel could you recommend a mobo?
