Hey guys, very new to the forum! Saw this page and thought I'd give you a tour of my soon-to-come build! It's an attempt to build a rather low end cost build, with quality components (love Corsair in particular) and low power usage. Case: Corsair Carbide 300R (thinking of buying the rubber grommets for better looking interior) PSU: Corsair HX650 80 plus gold semi-modular CPU: AMD FX-4100 3,6 GHz (Purchasing the Corsair Hydro H80i closed water cooling solution, instead of the stock cooling) RAM: 2x4GB Dual Channel Corsair Vengeance LP 1600 MHz 1,5V HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (Might throw a 120GB SSD at it at some point too) GPU: MSI 7950 3GB Twin Frozr V3 (Not the cheapest 7950, but by far the best looking/best cooling I've been able to find) Mobo: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (Not very familiar with mobs, but this seem to be able to handle my parts in a good way) I'm probably not going to over-clock my system, which is why the water cooling solution might be a slight overkill, but I'd like the coolest solution I can get, without running into compatibility problems with my rather small ATX case. Got any suggestions on how to improve on the build, should I be changing some parts or does it look fine and dandy? I've built my rigs a couple of times before, but I'd like to be sure before just venturing out there and buying a ton of hardware :D Woolbeach

Hi, I'm currently running a FX8350 with a HD7870 and, I recently bought a new screen : Asus PB278Q. The thing is, games won't run as easily on a 2560x1440 screen compared to my old LG 1080P monitor... So, I've decided to start planning a brand new build for myself. Here's the specs I've choosen so far : Case : Fractal Design R4 Titanium (No-Window) Motherboard : Gigabyte Socket 1150 (Z87) CPU : Intel 4770K RAM : 16GB Kingston HyperX (Grey) GPU : Sapphire HD7970 3GB Power Supply : Corsair AX750 Soundcard : Asus Xonar STX Radiator Fans : 2 x Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15 (Controlled with the integrated fan controller) Case Fans : 3 x Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition Watercooling : Swiftech H220 (With AP-15s) SSD : Corsair Neutron GTX 120GB SSD for GAMES : Crucial M4 256GB Hard Drive : Western Digital Blue 1TB x2 (Raid 1) Miscellaneous : 5,25 - 3,5 Adaptor Corsair's Sleeved Cable AX750 3 Fans Power Distribution (molex) I'm planning to take the HDD cages out entirely, and install my HDD in one of the two 5.25 bay. Also, my SSD would go behing the motherboard tray. EDIT : I've just added the modifications to the list.

As of now here are the things I want to include in my build: MoBo: Asrock z77e CPU: core i5 3550k Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance GPU: 660ti MSI or Asus Cooling: swiftech h220 PSU: Seasonic 80+ platinum 600watts Boot drive: Samsung 840 Storage: 2.5 inch 1tb black drive Casing: prodigy Theme: red and black Here are some of my questions: Is it worth it to wait for HASWELL, GTX 700 series and DDR4 integration? Any improvement in terms of spec? Is there an 80+ platinum powersupply that is below 600 watts?

SORRY EVERYONE I MESSED UP THIS POST!!! Don't bother reading since it's incomplete and I don't know how to delete a topic My first upgrade: Getting a new case (Zalman Z11 Plus) My specs from the beginning: - i5 650 @ 3.2GHz - Corsair A70 Tower Air cooler - OEM MATX LGA 1156 Mobo from Acer - ATI Radeon 4350 512mb - May not be seen in the photos but I did upgrad the PSU to a Thermaltake 500W - 6GB (2x2GB) + (2x1GB) Samsung RAM @ 1033MHz - Seagate 1TB 7,200rpm HDD - Upgraded Zalman Z11 plus case Hardware Upgrade Just an upgrade to a GTX 560 Ti 448 Graphics card since I thought that the i5 650 @ 3.2GHz dual core with HT was going to be good enough but I later upgraded it. Upgraded specs: - i5 650 @ 3.2GHz - Corsair A70 Tower Air cooler - OEM MATX LGA 1156 Mobo from Acer - EVGA GTX 560 ti 448 Classified Ultra - May not be seen in the photos but I did upgrad the PSU to a Thermaltake 500W - 6GB (2x2GB) + (2x1GB) Samsung RAM @ 1033MHz - Seagate 1TB 7,200rpm HDD - Zalman Z11 plus case Hardware Upgrade 2.0 I am not sure what I upgraded in these photos but I do remember I upgraded my PSU for my beefier graphics card. First I went with a AX750 from corsair but the fan was defective so I changed it for OCZ ZX 850W but I kinda regret it now because the cables are bulky, hard to flex, and on the short side. On top of that the PSU makes coil whine to add insult to the injury but I have no money and it's too late to switch, since I was naive and very much an amateur and just wanted more wattage without thinking of quality but I learned my mistake now. Upgraded Specs: - i5 650 @ 3.2GHz - Corsair A70 Tower Air cooler - OEM MATX LGA 1156 Mobo from Acer - EVGA GTX 560 ti 448 Classified Ultra - Currently OCZ ZX 850W 80Plus Gold PSU - 6GB (2x2GB) + (2x1GB) Samsung RAM @ 1033MHz - Seagate 1TB 7,200rpm HDD - Zalman Z11 plus case Hardware Upgrade 3.0 I upgraded my motherboard and my CPU since I was getting pissed with the OEM motherboard from Acer as it has terrible heatsink for it's chipset and would randomly shut off my computer. The RAM was upgraded also to 8GB but I don't remember when so I just added it here. Also I went through many coolers for my system, first the A70, then a Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E (too big), and now currently the Noctua Cooler Upgraded Specs: - i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz w/ 1.35V on BIOS level - Currently Noctua NH-12P SE14 - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 - EVGA GTX 560 ti 448 Classified Ultra - Currently OCZ ZX 850W 80Plus Gold PSU - 8GB (2x4GB) G.skill Ripjaws X (red) @ 1333MHz - Seagate 1TB 7,200rpm HDD - Zalman Z11 plus case I didn't like the cable management on this build but it was enough to slide by for about a year. My Gaming rig as of 2013! I got fed up with the Zalman Z11 plus case with it's terrible cable management, you had barely any room in the back, and especially it's almost a 3 hour chore to clean the PC. The dust filters are terribly place and you can't removed them without turning off the PC and tilting the entire case sometimes. Also 9 times out of 10 it will get dusty in 3 days after a full clean. One last thing to add is that the case was so flimsy it made so much noise and there was a lot of fans but since it had terrible cable management the airflow was always restricted which caused even more noise and poor temperatures both GPU and CPU. Had enough so I upgraded it and also I upgraded my storage before this upgraded but I decided to include in this one. Current Specs: - i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz w/ 1.35V on BIOS level - Noctua NH-12P SE14 - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 - EVGA GTX 560 ti 448 Classified Ultra - Currently OCZ ZX 850W 80Plus Gold PSU - 8GB (2x4GB) G.skill Ripjaws X (red) @ 1333MHz - Seagate 1TB 7,200rpm HDD - Seagate 1TB 7,200rpm HDD (This one has a denser platter so it's performance is increased and is now my boot drive so now I shaved off about 30 seconds of boot time) - External Seagate 500GB USB 3.0 Backup Plus drive. - Fractal Design R4 Arctic White with Window After all this my PC is quieter, easier to clean, I am so happy with the cable management it's much cleaner, internal USB 3.0 header, and watercooling ability in the future. I probably won't be upgraded for a while probably go for an SSD but not sure if it's worth it yet since I really don't need the speed yet and I don't do much intense video editing. Maybe I could raid my HDD to get more performance but I don't know how to yet but it could be worth a try. Peripherals: Too lazy to put a timeline but here is my desk and gaming gear. Current Gear: - Corsair M60 FPS mouse - Corsair K90 MMO Keyboard - BenQ 27" 1080p Monitor (GW2750) upgraded from an LG you will see in the pictures. - Logitech LS2.1 Speakers - Razer Electra Gaming Headset (40mm Drivers) - Dlink Dual band router - Desk from Ikea don't remember the names I know I stylized the mouse but it was the only pics I had at hand.

Hey, Wasn't too sure, but this seemed like the best place to post this in. I've built my own PC before and it's been working great since then, I've recently been asked to build someone a fairly cheap gaming PC, and wanted some more experienced advice before ordering the parts. Spec: Thanks in advance James

Hey guys, I thought I would just share a cool modding video that inspired me to get into case modding. It's an excellent video that shows the process behind case modding. He builds his own cases from scratch as well as using some very unique components that I have never seen anywhere else. I just want to be clear that this is not my own work! The guy who did this is a fantastic modder and film producer. His youtube channel is UnknownLobster. Enjoy! part 2 is here

We all know that feeling. That breath of fresh air you get when you wipe everything and install windows. The speed, the responsiveness. It feels like a whole new machine again! But after you've gotten over that shock you're faced with what to do next. Drivers are often first up, but after that what do YOU guys like to install? With tools like ninite easily available, do you like to use them, or are you old fashioned and do it manually? Super interested to hear what you guys have to say! Personally: I configure the computer for my domain. Then I install CHROME! uTorrent StartIsBack Office Photoshop Spotify Skype Filezilla Origin (Unfortunately) and any related games Steam and any related games CPU-Z GPU-Z MSI Afterburner VLC

Hello guys I need your opinions on my future build, I'm not realy on a budget I realy want something that will last me 3-4 years at least and with which I'll have possibilities of expension such as SLI, adding Ram, and Watercooling... I've already done a build and projected some expansions (sorry to spoil the fun :P) and started buying some parts. I just wanted you guys opinion on it and what future products I could (or should) buy and ones I shouldn't. For additional info, I live in Paris (France) and mostly buy on Amazon. I have several hobbies and my computer will be used for Gaming,Graphic Design, Music Production, and Montage/Editing. The last one is minor for the moment and that's why you'll see I haven't put tons of RAM in the build at a start. I have been researching, planning, and waiting for a lot of the components in this build. I believe it is ready to become a reality. So the purpose of this computer is light gaming for one monitor and in about a year a heavy gaming system running dual or triple monitors. The budget for this build is $1,000 USD. Now, onto the components... http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Obsidian-Performance-Computer-CC-9011029-WW/dp/B00BWLL9MY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370376789&sr=8-1&keywords=Corsair+Obsidian+Series+350D -Corsair Obsidian Series 350D; $104.99 http://www.frys.com/product/7680517?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG -Intel Core i5-4570; $199.99 http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-V6-GT-RR-V6GT-22PK-R1/dp/B003XNG6LI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370377378&sr=8-1&keywords=COOLER+MASTER+V6+GT -Cooler Master V6 GT; $49.99 http://www.frys.com/product/7297993?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG -Kingston HyperX Blu Red Series 8GB; $49.99 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Gaming-Series-700-Watt-GS700/dp/B00ALSNDS2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370378541&sr=8-1&keywords=CORSAIR+GS700 -Corsair GS700; $104.99 http://www.amazon.com/WD-Blue-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B0088PUEPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370379003&sr=8-1&keywords=Western+Digital+WD+Blue+1tb -Western Digital Blue 1TB; $64.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135304&Tpk=ASUS%20Black%2018X%20DVD-ROM&IsVirtualParent=1 Asus DVD-ROM SATA Drive; $18.99 http://www.amazon.com/Windows-System-Builder-OEM-64-Bit/dp/B0094NY3R0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370380096&sr=8-1&keywords=Microsoft+Windows+8 -Microsoft Windows 8; $89.99 The total price with tax included in my city is $743.76 If you are wondering where the motherboard is; I am waiting for the Asus Maximus Gene to be show up at retailers. Having become sick of console gaming, I got offered a bet that I couldn't refuse! So I now have £1300 to spend on a gaming PC and being new to PC gaming I'm not really to sure if I am doing it correctly. The other problem is that I need everything! So here is what I was thinking, but any help and advice would be great! I5 3570K Gigabyte 7950 Kingston 2400mhz Hyper X Predator 8GB (2 dimms) Samsung 840 SSD 128GB 2TB Seagate barracuda Zalman Z11 Corsair CX750W 80+ Cooler-master Hyper Evo 212+ AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 Acer 24" Full HD 1080P Monitor Windows 7 Microsoft sidewinder X4 Razer Deathadder Razer goliathus In the UK, this adds up-to £1163 without postage, so I think I will have some money left over for some games. Any help is welcome!
