Hi everyone. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. My CPU, an ever-notorious AMD Fx 9590, has a consistent problem. Whenever I'm putting it under any sort of load, especially gaming, it will work just fine for a while, but after a seemingly random period of time, my entire computer will freeze up and crash. Nothing responds. I'm fairly sure this is an overheating issue with the CPU, as the only time it hasn't happened is when the room as cold as hell. I *know* it isn't my GPU - I've used this CPU with two different GPUs, and this has happened consistently with both setups. I'm planning on replacing the motherboard/CPU/RAM when I can afford it, but in the meantime I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make this stop. Or at least, occur less frequently - because right now, it's practically every time I run a demanding game for an extended period of time. My setup is an AMD fx 9590, 16 GB of some unknown RAM (prebuilt computer), Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5 motherboard, 128 GB SSD, 2 TB HDD, and an EVGA GTX 1080 SC edition. I've included photos of my BIOS settings. I'd add them as an attachment, but they're about 15 MB over the attachment limit. I've messed around with these a bunch of times, I don't even know what to change any more. Thanks for your help, everyone.

So...total hypothetical *wink* assuming one has an FX-9590 and a Noctua NH-D15S with 3 fans, would one be safe in attempting to cool such a cpu with such a cooler? Ok, so I am looking for the absolute best cooler for the AMD FX-9590, I need it to be at least somewhat budget, and only if you have a good argument for me going to a different processor say that.

I know the 9590 runs hot since it has a 220w tdp but taming the heat is not in an issue atleast til i swaped my motherboard, my original board was a msi 990fxa gaming but it cant compleatley handel the 9590's power needs, so i went and bought a new asus sabertooth 990fx r3.0 of which i had seen good things about. But with the asus board my cpu temps skyrocket when doing anything and it ends up doing a thermal shutdown. So far ive tried re seating and re applying new thermal compound (mx4) and adding fans to the vrm and radiator of my h100i aio but to no avail. Just to make shure i was not going crazy i swaped the msi board back in and everything was fine with decent temps even with a stress test running. Please can someone shed some light on this situation My build Amd 9590fx black edition Msi 990fxa gaming (old motherboard) Asus sabertooth 990fx r3.0 (new mobo) Corsair h100i aio water cooler 2x gtx 980 32gb corsair vengence Rosewill quark 1200w psu Nanoxia ds6 case And dor the record im happy with what my machine can do, and im not looking to start from scratch, so i ask please dont tell me to get anything differnt processor wise, i will take suggestions on a mobo in the 250 buck range if it comea down to it though

This build is dumb and I am dumb for making it, but I've owned a 9590FX since 2014 and I really, really wanted to finally finish building something with it, so I spent far more money than I should have in order to realize my younger self's dream 8 core PC. I salvaged the RAM from my last computer who died an unfortunate capacitor related death as well as the 3 HDDs who store all my samples, old song ideas, and a moderately dank Steam library. Currently waiting on some Molex to fan connectors to arrive so I can hook up my water loop and at least see if it can run Crysis or not. Even though the main purpose of this machine will be audio production, graphic design, and 1080p video editing. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ And if you're wondering why I chose a 590 that's right, because it had the numbers "9" and "5" in the name for full meme value. This thing is going to get bottlenecked so hard, but luckily the 590 is a nice enough card that when I decide to build another PC in 5 years this thing will still be moderately relevant. My old Gpu was a 660ti and I could have technically run this system with it, but I needed full meme value for this stupid build. It'll be running Windows 7 pro as I don't care to let Microsoft spy on me and I'm never hooking it up to the Internet after the initial driver downloads/updates anyway. I know DX12 is cool and the boot times are faster, but Windows 8 made me hate Microsoft (I smashed a laptop in rage) and the obscene data collection and bloatware of 10 didn't do them any favors either. Even if I'm going to be always offline anyway. I learned to fix PCs on Vista/ME/7 so I'm just going full nostalgia with this build. For additional cooling I will be setting a 32" box fan right next to the open case when in use and only putting the side panel on when not in use as this computer will be in a separate room from me when I'm using it (because recording) so noise-and to some extent, heat-is not a concern. I will be using the SSD as a boot drive and to hold my DAW+samples while the 1TB HDD is for holding recording and graphics, the 1st 320GB is for my game's library, and the 2nd is for holding a backup of the initial SSD. If I decide to ever sink more money in to this stupid thing I'll be replacing the HDD's with SSDs to run in RAID 10 for the only performance increase I could possibly care about.

My last pc in which Im looking to sell is a water cooled fx 9590 on the crosshair v formula z motherboard, 4x8 Gb DDr3 at 1600 Mhz, strix gtx 970, 240 Gb ssd and a 3tb hdd. The case is none to asthetically pleasing, with an acrylic side panel and 2x120mm fans and no rgb. Im not looking for a buyer at this moment, but rather a price I should shoot for in selling the build (I was thinking $300). In addition, I could include 1-3 ~18" monitors, and how much more could I sell the build for if I included them? Thanks, any opinions appreciated

Hey, I really need your help. I received this prebuilt from Origin PC, and I am having a frequent crash issue. I am receiving the 'CPU Over Temperature Error!' whenever I am in any sort of game after about 20 or 30 minutes. I have tested DiRT Rally, Dota 2 and GTAV. I have also tested Furmark for both GPU and CPU burn in, and the system stays completely stable throughout. I am unsure why this is, but I feel it may be important to note that only during games does my CPU overheat. I have checked that there is liquid flowing through the cooler and also the radiator fans are spinning. Basically, screen + system will freeze, unable to control anything on the computer unless restart with power button. My system specs are in my profile, however I will also put them here. I built my first rig a couple months ago and installed a Cooler Master Hyper 212EVO. The fan rattled a lot and made me nuts, so I've switched to a closed-loop liquid cooler: the Corsair H55. I don't do any gaming, but I do render edited video, which takes up 100% of my CPU (an eight-core AMD FX-9590 [4.7 Ghz]) for about 20 minutes. (I don't overclock at all.) With the old 212, I never saw my CPU temperature get higher than 71° C, and they cooled off very quickly. Now with the H55 loop, SpeedFan reports a CPU temperature of < 103° C. 'How has my CPU not melted?' I asked myself, so I reseated the pump with Arctic Silver 5 paste (spreading it evenly with a card) rather than the stuff that came with the H55. And still, I'm seeing SpeedFan report over 100°. This is corroborated with the ASRock Extreme Tuning Utility (I have an ASRock 990FX Extreme9 board). But Core Temp and Speccy report the individual core temperatures as much, much lower. So my question is: what gives? Is my CPU really running at 104° C? How has it not called all the boys to the yard because it's so hot? And how on earth does a liquid cooler (albeit a 120 mm) run so much hotter than the heatsink? Is the 212EVO just that awesome (despite its fan)?

help, please. I just finished building my rig, (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/z7YGsY) and I turn it on and no beeps, no display, nothing. Only the fans turn on and GPU light turns on. Nothing else. I don't know if it's the processor or the motherboard. I have tried switching the ram slots around and that didn't help. please help me.

Would it be rather stupid or smart to buy an AMD FX 9590 as your first CPU, because no one ain't messin' around with that 220W TDP. But because its for 200$ on Newegg, it looks urging that 'Meh, what the heck could go wrong?'... FX 8350 is also a second choice though! Providing all the blessed cooling for the CPU, would it still rather be a good valued build with such a processor? I am keen for valued PC, if not then i5 is also and option too! (Plus the all praised FX-8350)

I have just bought a group of motherboards for far below their normal price I currently have an FX8120 and am looking to upgrade. two of the boards are am3+ so will work with my cpu. one is an LGA-1155 socket. Would i be better off buying an FX-9590/8350 sort of thing, or buying an i7 3770k? are there cheaper intel options that will work well? I would love to crossfire to 390x cards in the near future so would like to be able to have both in x16 mode. thanks for any help!

So I decided it was time to build a new computer this year. My last build is starting to age out. It's been a great computer but the Phenom quad cpu and Radeon 5670(by Sapphire) is starting to struggle with the games I play on it. Also the case has been through three iterations and even though it would be plenty big enough for the new build, it's very outdated style wise and features such as cable management behind the motherboard weren't really a thing in the $50 to $150 dollar price range when I bought it. I have a crosshair v formula-z motherboard and was thinking to upgrade my cpu. So i was thinking of buying fx 9590 But is it worth it? To buy a intel cpu i have to buy a new motherboard so im just sticking with a amd cpu and i mainly game so i think i will be ok with an amd cpu But my fear is that amd will release there new 'zen' cpu's (leaked info)soon and I'll be stuck with a last gen cpu and the newer once will be similar in price Should but it or wait for few months?

As a "soon to be new PC gamer" I sold all of my consoles ans even my TV to begin the road to PC gaming. Besides all the AMD Intel fan wars, is it really a big deal that I got the FX 9590? Is it a huge mistake? Keep in mind I went for an Xbox one to a rig worth around 4k. Are we not just splitting hairs at this point with my experience? I really would like to know! 980 TI with cpu upgrade FX 9590 or i7 Skylake?

Hello, I'm planning to upgrade to a single MSI GTX 980 Ti 6gb from a 770 2gb to maximize the use of a single monitor such as Samsung's curved monitor LS34E790 running 3440x1440 mostly for gaming. I'll use the computer for lots of other things but nothing like rendering/photo/video editing. Here are the caveats: 1. I'm upgrading from a FX 6300. Thus, it's either one cpu upgrade or cpu, motherboard (MSI Z170A Gaming M7 probably), and DDR4 ram upgrade. 2. Money is not exactly an issue (still within my means), so it's not about cost but mainly about cost to increase in gaming performance ratio. Is the switch to intel such a big increase for gaming that it's worth the money? 3. I'll be purchasing the computer parts at the end of November on cyber Monday for sales, so there's time to think things over. Also, I won't actually buy the monitor until January of next year in case better 21:9 monitors (especially with more hz and G-Sync) comes out. 4. Skylake isn't a big need of an upgrade for most people, but I felt my situation might make it worth it. Still, my lack of knowledge about the cpu is limited to the i7 6700k. If there are other, better skylake cpu coming out before the end of November, I'd like to know. As far as I know, Skylake would be the best possible intel upgrade at the moment? Not including X99 since this is mostly for gaming, and I don't consider future proofing due to extra cores, since 2 to 3 years down the line, I would rather just upgrade all over again if need be. 5. There's also the case for simply upgrading to a FX 9590 now and waiting until next year for new cpu announcements? Again, my knowledge in this area is essentially nonexistent but I heard something about AMD zen. So, does the purchase of a 980 Ti in my case warrant an upgrade to FX 9590 or Skylake, such as the i7 6700k? Hi guys, I'm planning to build my new pc and would like to ask if AMD 8-Core FX 9590 4.7 GHz Processor is compatible with MSI 990FXA GAMING Desktop Motherboard. I would also like to ask if you would recommend MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming 8G Graphics Card or what would you recommend instead. All this is going to require a lot of power, of how much should my power supply be? Considering the processor requires 220W and for the graphics card they recommend 400W should I go for a 750W power supply? And what brand would you recommend for the power supply? Thanks very much

I am new to this all so I just wanted to check, am I missing something here or does a H110 just not cut it with this cpu. If I need to do a custom loop after I get the GPU I want then so be it. Just wanted to check with the pros first.

Long time LTT fan here but first forum post so here goes I have a 990FXA-UD5 rev 3.0 and my aging 1090t is getting a bit slow. At £180 ($250) i can afford a FX 9590. Is my mobo rev compatible with this CPU as the FX 8350, using the same architecture as the 9590, is. Power and cooling are not an issue. My main uses are for gaming but also heavy rendering in solidworks and other CPU heavy applications. Other question is, does the 9590 offer a tangible performance increase over a 8350 when overclocked? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After much consideration i decided that i wanted my graphic card to be an r9 290 and i want to build a good pc around it. Im considering either a fx 8350 (going to try to overclock at around 4.7) or an fx 9590. In the future im going to add another r9 290 for dual GPU Im not sure about the motherboard though, for the time being ive seen the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 and ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 Any suggestions on either the cpu or motherboard ? I've already thought about intel cpu but at the same price as 9590 (240 euros) i cant find anything worthy The rest of the system will have 16gb ram 2133mhz and an 120gb ssd (probably with an 850W plus PSU) Thank you P.S. note that the primary target is gaming and recording at the same time

Hello form community, Recently I purchased the power hungry hot 'AMD_9590' and require a CPU cooler (Preferably a good bang for buck closed-loop water cooler that can handle my '9590's 220w Thermal Design Power output. I have never used or had experience with a chip so hot, however: CPU = Power = Processing & operations = More Power... you kind of understand , In short I haven't purchased the "Retail-packaging" which includes a OEM_AMD 120mm watercooler. I have seen some coolers but I have a strict budget of £70.00GBP which is about $108.00USD. These are the coolers I found but some do and don't physically say on the manufactures website regarding if they can support 220w-TDP (My CPU). Coolers: -Antec Kuhler H20 1250 CPU Liquid Cooler -Coolermaster Nepton 120XL -Coolermaster Seidon 120M -Thermaltake Water 3.0 Performer 99.CFM -Corsair H80i (Any other suggestions accepted!) Basically in short I need a CPU cooler to keep my CPU at safe levels (I know that my chip has higher safety levels due to heat.) and I might even underclock it, though I have no clue how to. I required the amazing brains of the community to help me pick something safe and extremely effective. So I was at micro center today and they were selling a 9590 for $199.99 so i had to have it. My initial reactions are: Holy crap this thing is fast, and it sure is a great heater. This is the only test I ran so far, I have not touched any bios settings yet. So what do you guys think about this. Was it worth it? Cooled by NH-D14
