hey guys, I've been running a Dell 690 motherboard in a system for a while now, but recently it will just freeze up, and i am unable to power it down either, then it will not power on unless it's been left to sit for a while. I point out the motherboard because everything else has been swapped and tested, but the board. Everywhere i've looked, people say its the PSU, but ive bought a new PSU for it and it does the same thing. There was one post about how a blown capacitor was the issue, but i cant see any bulging capacitors or any blown ones. specs: PSU- Dell H750P-00 motherboard- Dell 690 board CPU- 2 x Xeon E5345 RAM-8GB (4x2GB) DDR2 PC2-5300F 667MHz ECC GPU- Nvidia GT610 SSD- KingDian 120GB

Do you guys think a KFA2 GTX 780 HOF is a good value for 110 euros? I could get a gtx 690 for around 140 euros, but i'm concerned about the 2gb vram per gpu which I think is very little for current games.. I also found a gtx 970 for 140 euros, maybe I could convince the seller to sell it to me for 130 but he hasn't responded yet. All above cards are used, the 970 not as much as the other two apparently if the seller tells the truth. I don't want to spend a fortune on a brand new graphics card as of now, but I thought of upgrading a bit on my current r9 270x as maybe I will use it in another computer. As for the prices, I live in Slovakia, parts are pretty expensive here, a new 1050ti costs around 150eu and a 1060 3gb around 210.

Okay I got 2 GTX 690's and an original Titan 6Gb for free, which of these would be the better setup (I'm guessing the 690's but idk). I am going to be using it to build my girlfriend a pc that can run PUBG (she recently moved in, never had played on a pc before, now she's addicted to PUBG lmao). So do you guys think either of these GPU setups would run PUBG and current games? Thanks, Cheers! PS: The GPU's I got from two complete systems given to me for free, so on top of the GPU's I got a 4930k, a 3930k, 32Gb (8x4gb sticks) of Corsair Dom's, 32Gb (4x8gb sticks) of Corsair Vengeance, two AX1200i PSU's, a 1TB Samsung 840 Pro SSD, a 240Gb Corsair SSD, 2 2TB HDD's, a Corsair Case and a Lian Li case (both cases are in pretty crappy shape). But hell yeah i thought it was a great find for free!!!!

Hello LTT community, I was originally planning to go out and buy a GTX 1060 for my new PC for roughly $250, but I stumbled upon two really cheap GTX 690s on Craigslist listed for $100 and $198 respectively. They are both listed as slightly to moderately used for condition, and the two would only be $48 more. I have an 850 watt power supply, so power won't be an issue really. Of course, running games at 2560x1440p resolution won't be a problem for either card(s), but I run SolidWorks, and I think I could take advantage of the extra CUDA cores for Iray on the visualize software. What do you guys think? Are these two cards something I should consider picking up, or will a newer card still be better? Thanks, DAGGER51

The GTX 690 is my new favorite graphics card. I have never personally used one, but by what I know from other people it is pretty freaking great. It also looks cool and has three DVI ports.

Can someone explain to me why my new Asus 1070 Strix OC apparently SUCKS at surround? I am running 3840x1024 and Borderlands 2 runs at like 10FPS. The 1070 is a replacement for my GTX 690, which ran BL2 in 3840x1024 like a breeze, easily maintaing 50-60FPS. What gives?

Hello LTT Forum, I got a offer from someone i don't know that he wants to trade his Gigabyte 690 for my MSI GTX 960 4G +50€ It sounds like a good deal cuz the 690 is way better than the 960. But the problem is that i dont know if its that futureproof and if its even good today. Im a 1080p Gamer who plays alot of Graphicintensive games like The Division, BF4, Far Cry 4, GTA V and such. Is it good to trade it ? I dont know if it overheats or something, or if my i5 4460 Bottlenecks it. I know there are some scaling problems and stuttering with SLI and its basicly a SLI 680 Should i go for it or not? You guys probartly know more about that than me, thanks for reading. Have a good day !

Hi, I have 2 gtx 690s, would it be worth selling them and getting a gtx 1080?
-
There is 690s going for below £200 on eBay. Would a 690 be good in 2016? From what I have read, it is close to 980 in performance.

So I just had a thought while looking at new info about the rumoured GTX 1060: how much will it cost and what performance will it deliver for being the "X60" or mid-range NVIDIA card? I then went back to when I was hunting for a card to put in my rig and the 700 series showed up with "greatly improved performance over previous gen", which was true of the jump from GTX 660 to GTX 760 (I picked the 760). Fast forward a few years and the 600 and 700 series are now what the tech world denotes as "ancient". But just how ancient are they? Most are still good for gaming of course, they've just fallen out of fashion over time. Concretely, I would like to suggest a video summarising the gains that have been made to mid-to-high-end video card ecosystem over the past few generations (maybe even including the 400 and 500 series, or even beginning with the 8800GT ), similarly to "NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti vs 8800 GTX Crysis Image Quality & Benchmark Linus Tech Tips". I initially had the idea of comparing the last king of the "X90" range, the GTX 690, with a newer, single-GPU card such as the GTX 1070, with lower price and TDP, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) a higher performance level than the dual-GPU GTX 690. However, after writing this post, I felt like the generation-on-generation performance delta was maybe more relevant to the majority of the audience (the GTX 690 wasn't really aimed at mainstream gaming in the first place). Please tell me your thoughts on the matter, or post your current card, and if you feel the need to upgrade. Best, JM

hey, few days ago, I got an offer for gtx 690 (used ofc) for ridiculous price.. so I was considering to get it. But I have just 500w evga psu (didnt need more that time I got this one) so I went to the pc part picker and there I built my pc and checked the power consumption of whole system - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bWnZNG. I just want to run the card, without any oc of course... Is there any possibility to run this machine with that psu without any changes? ty 4 answers :33

Just wondering if the 690 is still good for todays mordern games?

is a 690 worth it if its cheaper than a 970?
mydisthesizeoftheocean posted a topic in Graphics Cards
hi i know the 970 is newer but the 690 will be better in dx12 because the vram will stack up, and its already better performance wise. its almost as good as a 980 so i was wondering, if i could snag one for cheaper than the price of a 970 should i get it or nah? also, would this motherboard handle a dual gpu card? since its sli and this motherboard cant do sli? i wonder because its in one pcie slot, ASRock B85 Pro4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard -
Hi! So I got a 690, as you can see. The problem is that my 770 runs ALL the games with higher fps. My GTX 770 runs Final Fantasy XIV on ultra with 5760x1080 res with 60 fps. My GTX 690 doesnt even get 30 fps when i run that game. ALL my games is slower. I get sooo much lower fps with this card. What the heck happend? Wasn't GTX 690 supposed to be a "high end" card? I 've enabled Multi-GPU and I got the newset drivers for GTX 690. Specs: GTX 690 I5 3550 (clocked to 4ghz) 12gb RAM MSI Z77A-S03 motherboard 750w + gold PSU Please help!! <3

It's that time to upgrade again. My reference GTX690 works fine and I'm moving it into a new awesome case for the wife, but that means I need a new GPU. The thing is, the 690 is a fantastic card, and I spent a lot of money at the time for it... but it's left me in a weird spot considering my performance expectations and current budget. My question: What card can I replace my 690 with that will deliver at least comparable performance without breaking the bank? I obviously wouldn't be asking this question if my budget was even close to what it was last time (it isn't), but I'd like to avoid shelling out the cash for a 980 while hoping it delivers the same spectacular results I've had with the 690. First world problem, I know, but maybe I'd get good advice here rather than relying on something like GPUBoss...

Hi guys. I have a GTX 780 SLI in my system, and I would like to fill up the two remaining PCI slots with graphics cards. I have U$400, and I would like to: Have 2 AMD cards to use in AMD optimized games (or a dual GPU card) OR Have a dual GPU Nvidia card to use as a PhysX card for a while until I build my portable gaming PC (and use this GPU on it) OR Get my 3rd GTX 780 and have a 3-WAY SLI (but I know it will not give me a lot of performance over my current setup) I will buy the cards on Ebay, because I don't mind buying used hardware. What do you guys suggest? What cards do you recommend? I know that it is unnecessary, I know! Please, don't tell me it again! I would also mine with the cpu if i can i74770k. Can you tell me your recomended coin, and how much will i make per day, and if you have a config for gtx 690s if possible, (but not needed). ty

I've got an intel core i7 4790K, an asus maximus vii formula, and a samsung 850 SSD. Before I got my graphics card I used to get 40-60 fps, maximum setting on minecraft. But since I got my GTX 690, high frame rates only come when I am on 2 chunk render distance. I have looked at performance and my CPU and GPU are at very stable temperatures. Also my graphics card only seems to stay at 500mhz when I'm on a high render distance and only go to 1000mhz on the 2 chunk render distance. On my 32 chunk render distance with maximum settings I only get 20-40 FPS. And when I max out Crysis 3 at 1080p, I am able to get 45-60 fps. Why? Just to make this clear. I have updated all my Intel drivers, all my Nvidia drivers and my java (which is 64-bit).

Sapphire is launching a new graphics card, one based off the dual Tahiti 7990 design, they've named it HD 7990 Atomic & it's water-cooled ! The cooler is based on a thick 240mm radiator & two 120mm fans running at a quiet 1200 RPM This might very well take the fastest graphics card crown from the Asus ARES II . Hi everyone, this is my first thread, so yeah... Anyways, I have all my parts ready for a new, 1st time build except for the case. My build is centred around the Intel i5 4670k and I will be air cooling with a Thermalright Macho. I am looking for a nice, aesthetically-pleasing, well-built case with good acoustic efficiency (but with airflow prioritising silence) and a side window within a flexible budget of £70. Three cases come to mind. The first case is the Coolermaster 690III. As the title states, I've found a great deal and am able to get this for around £50. This ticks all the right boxes but I'm worried about the build quality. Is it fully plastic or is the mesh metal? The second case is the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. This is available for around £70 and once again, ticks all the right boxes for me. I'm concerned whether its worth £20 more than the 690III though. Also, despite being a minimalist, I think this case might be a bit too bland but I get a weird impression that this case will look better in real life than the promo pictures. The last case is the NZXT Phantom 530. This is definitely the most appealing case to me since it has amazing airflow as well as very quiet operation. It's aesthetic is a love/hate thing but I love it. It literally is my perfect, dream case but I find it hard to justify the extra £50 over the 690III. I am aware that this is a full tower case, but personally I don't necessarily need the extra space, it's more of a bonus feature. I believe all three of these cases are solid offerings and I have done a fair bit of research. All these cases are easy to work in and have very good watercooling support. Although I'm not planning to watercool any time soon, I may change my mind if prices drop during my next upgrade cycle. So which case do you guys think is most suitable for me? I am very price-concious (as you'll see if I do a build log *hint* *hint* ) but I'm thinking whether spending the extra money will be justified in the long term since the chassis is the component that is likely to be reused the most. Thanks!
