Hey there! I am kinda new in the pc-game and I'm now thinking about upgrading my Prebuilt PC... I bought my PC about a year ago and up until this point I was scared to upgrade it apart from some RAM... The PC is an HP Prebuilt using the erica 2 Motherboard and it came with a Ryzen 5 3400G without a dedicated GPU. I'm happy with the CPU but i thought about upgrading to a 1660 super or something (haven't done any research on that yet), but my proprietary 180W PSU is holding me back. There is a 500W PSU made by HP called the L05757-800, just from looking at the pictures it seems to fit, however in a spreadsheet made by an HP support-guy it isn't listed as compatible with the erica 2 MOBO. He said he didn't check if all configs worked but this is still enough for me to put off buying it since it is a 100€ unit here in Germany. I am pretty sure it will fit physically since they used the same case for nearly all their Prebuilts, but there is still a chance the connectors might not fit or it won't have the connectors I need for the GPU. I've read about similar cases in some forums but I want to be extra cautious. There isn't really that much information about either of these components so I am hoping some of you might know the answer or experienced something similar. It would also be nice if someone could explain to me wether that 500W is TDP, but that is less important since the entire system once finished will probably only need ~300W-350W. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi all, I'm about to replace my old Antec PSU with a better-quality 500W PSU, since I just realized that it would be too risky to use this Antec VP500P Plus PSU for the new RTX 3050 graphics card. PC specs: CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5500 GPU nVidia RTX 3050 8Gb GDDR6 RAM 2 x 16Gb DDR4 SSD 1 x M2 SATA 512Gb + 1 x SATA 500Gb HDD 1 x 5Tb SATA 7200rpm + 1 x 4Tb SATA 7200rpm USB 5 x 2.0 + 3.0 USB devices Fans 5 x 14cm case fans PSU Antec VP500P Plus 500W The PC is used for 3D and Unreal game engine, and it won't be overclocked at all. I've also checked several online PSU calculators with varying recommendation results, ranging from 308W to 369W, so I guess a 450-500W PSU will be enough for my needs. I don't have a plan to upgrade it to a higher wattage, at least for the next 5 years, unless it is absolutely necessary, because I need to save daily operation/electricity cost during the bad economy. After searching on my favorite online shops (Tokopedia.com and EnterKomputer.com), I found several options that are in my budget range (IDR 500k to 900k): 1. Xigmatek Xagatek X - Power III 450W (IDR 457k) https://www.tokopedia.com/maxcom-computer/xigmatek-xagatek-x-power-iii-450w-psu 2. Deepcool PF500 500W 80 Plus (IDR 524k) https://www.tokopedia.com/distributorpc/deepcool-power-supply-pf500-flat-cable-500w 3. MSI Mag A500DN 500W 80+ Standard (IDR 635k) https://www.tokopedia.com/jayapc/msi-mag-a500dn-500watt-psu-power-supply-500w-80-standard 4. EVGA 500BR 500W Bronze (IDR 735k) https://www.tokopedia.com/garudamegastore/psu-evga-500br-bronze-500watt-psu-evga-500-watt-500br-bronze 5. be quiet! System Power 9 500W 80+ Bronze (IDR 807k) https://www.enterkomputer.com/detail/157438/be-quiet-SYSTEM-POWER-9-500W-80-Bronze-Certified-3-Years-Warranty-Number-1-PSU-in-Germany Please give me some advice on choosing the best PSU within my wattage and budget limitations. I'm also open to other 450-500W PSU brands/types, as long as it's still within my limitations. Thank you in advance for your help. -Nubitol

I just ordered an EVGA 3060 and wanted to know if I could replace it with my current gpu for like a week or 2, while my other components for another pc arrive. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QCtwTJ Is 500w going to limit/damage my gpu? Is it safe? It will only be for a week until my new pc arrives

Hi I recently got a new ups forza nt-1011 https://www.forzaups.com/products/internal/NT-1011-eng Now, I've never used a ups before until now so I followed the instructions that are in the manual, pretty much just plug in the ups to the outlet and leave it charging without anything plugged in the ups for 6 hours at least, which is what I plan to do, but one thing I noticed is a peculiar smell, it's like" new plastic" , not exactly burn but it's odd, is this normal? also can i turn off the psu when i no longer use it during the day ? or does it have to be "on" all the time? thanks for your time o/

I know...purchasing a pre-made computer is not ideal in normal circumstances, but we're not in normal circumstances these days and I recently eyed a decent HP pre-made computer in a store near me. The computer has only a 20% increase in price compared to the components added ne by one, and for the tragic situation we're in, it's not bad. This machine has such features: Intel Core i7-11700 (not the K version) 32 GB DDR4-2933 MHz RAM (2 x 16 GB) 1 TB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 Ti (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated) DVD Reader 500W Power Supply I'm a bit concerned about the power supply situation though... I'd use the thread opened on this forum to calculate the wattage, but it seems to be stuck at the 10th generation. If I had to make a computer on my own I'd use a 600watt supply (as recommended also for the 3060TI), but I don't see why they'd put an inadequate power supply inside the computer. In the absolute worst case scenario I can replace the power supply, but do you think 500 watt is enough for the configuration? With regards to buying a pre-made computer, the situation in my country seems to be even more tragic than in North America. I preordered my GPU (3060TI) a minute after launch and after 8 months I still can't get it and I'll have to wait at least 3 more months, meanwhile I'm afraid the rest of the components would become much more expensive and hard to find. Thanks for the help.

So I am building a new gaming pc, but I have realised I don't have much money left in my budget for a psu. Any good recommendations for a psu which has like 500-600 Watts of power and won't break after a few days. Thx. If you want specs for the pc just ask and I will be happy to provide.

My system is currently running on an i7-4790k with the MSI GTX 970 4G. The PSU I use is the BeQuiet Straight Power 10 (500w) Now I would like to upgrade my GPU to the Gainward GTX 1080 GLH and I am concerned, whether or not the 500 watts will be enough to run this card without any issues. Amazon and Mindfactory are recommending 500w for the GPU alone, which is confusing to me, because I have done a little research on different forums and many people say, that 500w will be sufficient. Should I go for a 600-700w PSU just to be safe?

So is this PSU rly worthed to buy ? https://uk.hardware.info/product/81622/aopen-prima-plus-500w

I recently purchased the EVGA 500B for my build and am now wondering if it is worth getting a new PSU. My build is a i5 6600K with a gtx 1070 witch only uses 350W. I have heard that you should avoid this PSU and im wondering if its really worth shelling out the extra $80 for a better PSU just to replace my 500B? Is there really a problem with this PSU? if so what is it? It seems fine to me. My build: https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/NyCyqk

Hey guys! I'm looking for a good & silent PSU for my upcoming PC. It has to power a GTX 1080 & a i7-6700k so I'm looking for a PSU at about 500 Watts. I have my eyes on these: EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2 Enermax Platimax D.F. 500W be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 550W Corsair RMx 550x Wich one would you choose? And why?

Basically what the title is asking, is that specific power supply a good one? It is rated at 80+ Silver as well. I am getting it for my soon-to-be i3 2130 and GT 1030 gaming build, which will have upgrades for a i5 2500k / i7 2600k, GTX 1050 (maybe) and 16gb ram. I don't need over 550w, but I am on a budget. The BeQuiet unit fits perfectly under my budget and my aesthetic perfectly, has black cables, and I've heard everywhere praise BeQuiet for being good, so I am making sure. Yay or nay?

Hello people, so I have a Corsair CX500M (Model number: 75-002017) from an old build and planning to use it in a new build for a family member. For last few years, I've had this notion that one or more of the models for the CXM (maybe it was the CX or CS series instead) had a reputation for not being reliable. So I decide a couple of months ago to check online about this and nothing of the such popped up (bar the CXM being made of cheaper components than usual). Okay, I don't need to get a new power supply! But, wait! Recently, someone on my new build post (Ryzen 5 gaming build) said At the time I knew that the website i was using for my components no longer sold the CX500M but I thought, "Amazon's probably selling it." However, the thing that struck me was that the person said CX500 and not CX500M. Did they mean CX500M? Did they thought I meant CX500? Regardless, I looked at the CX500 and the CX450M, and sure, they exist but the CX450M look different to the CX500M. Why does it look like we have two different looking power supplies with the CXM name? Are they generations of CXM? If so, which is the newer generation and why does it exist? Is the older version more unreliable than the newer? Many thanks. Here are some pictures:

hello, i was wondering if its normal for my gpu to use 100% and over 100% power consumption from my power supply while still getting very low gpu usage.
