Recently my HDD failed, so i bought some replacements, reinstalled Win10 etc. I still have the old drive, however, and I was curious if i could put it in my PC and possibly still use the space on it? It was a 250 GB drive, I was working on my PC and it failed. The BIOS still recognizes the device and the storage, so is it possible i could wipe the drive and reuse it? And is it possible it could damage my PC?

Hi, I currently have a AMD processor and wish to convert to a Intel Processor, Because of this, i Need a CPU and Mother Board, As i am on a Budget, I wish for the best performance for £250 or $307. Don't worry about the rest of my setup, i will build it around the Mobo / CPU - I only ask for it to be compatible with the following case: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/nzxt-h440-new-edition-black-red-mid-tower-windowed-case-usb-30-4x-120-140mm-fans-included?utm_source=google+shopping&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKEAjwkJfABRDnhbPlx6WI4ncSJADMQqxdO6iK74A_hLo38we4SHvrvlc97K3qH_aQqASwZTa2eBoCcTrw_wcB (I play games such as CSGO and my younger brother sometimes plays minecraft on it so anything suitable for the 2 is good) Many thanks

Hey, so... I've messed up my Samsung S6 Edge badly. Smashed the screen accidentally and then bought a repair kit ...ended up breaking the whole screen as Samsung phones are almost impossible to repair. Anyways... I've just started Uni and only have £250 and I need.... NFC Wireless charging Finger print scanner IR Blaster (not very important but would be great) Great battery Reliable (Don't mind getting a 2nd hand phone) I appreciate any feedback, thank you!

So lately I have been looking into getting a cheap android phone while I wait for about 6-8 months until I can buy a flagship phone. The budget I have right now is somewhere around 160-250 USD to get a new phone. I'm currently coming from an iPhone SE on metroPCS (T-Mobile) , it's been a good phone and all but its size factor and battery is starting to get to me. Since I am a student, I spend the majority of my free time on my phone on youtube and social media. But it has gotten to a point where its small screen and obsolete battery has become a large nuisance for me. Right now I am looking for a phone in the specified price range above and that has at least a 1080p screen, good to great battery, promising specs, 32-64gb of storage, type-c is optional but definitely a headphone jack. I read some stuff about the Moto G6 but It seems like it comes off as a very fragile phone with acceptable battery life. And then there's the Xiaomi Mi A2, it seemed good so far but it does not have a headphone jack which I am very skeptical about since I use wired headphones. Anyways, I'm just looking for some recommendations on a phone I can get. Any recommendations?

Hello guys, I am currently shopping for some new headphones as my old Siberia V2's just gave out. I narrowed my choice down to the Sennheiser HD599, Beyerdynamic BT880 pro and 990 pro. These have the most features I want in a headset and at a price point I'm comfortable with. If any of you have experience using any of these let me know, I'll greatly appreciate any additional feedback! I wanted to know in the event I went with one of the beyerdynamic ones, whether or not I'd be able to drive them without having to turn my volume all the way up as they have a 250ohm impedance. I have a Maximus VIII Hero and from what I've heard it has great built-in audio, I wanted to know whether or not this was true and whether I could trust Asus' marketing material advertising it would drive anything with up to a 600ohm impedance. Thanks in advance!

Just wondering what would be the best allocation unit size for my 250gb Samsung 850 Evo drive to get most performance. I saw back in the early ssd days that 1024 was the best at the time for a 32 GB ssd but these days wondering what is the best 512 bytes to 4096 kilobytes Just want best size for performance and seeking files.

Hi, I love linustechtips and watch your videos on a daily basis. Often re watching build logs and challenges multiple times! Great job! I'd like to discuss something else though. We've all heard of the $200 dollar graphics card, the RX 480. That really is a fantastic price for the performance you get. However, I live in the UK. The cheapest RX 480 card is actually £195, if you do a quick 195 GBP to USD conversion on google it will come up with $250+ bucks. India area reportedly paying $450 bucks and poland are having cards shipped over there at inflated prices too. This seems rather horribly unfair to charge 1/4 more, and in the india case more than twice the amount, just because we're not americans. I'm wondering of Linus or anyone else here can shed light onto why the $200 dollar card, isn't really $200 when it comes to the UK, and other countries. It can't all be about shipping surely! P.S. the 195 figure I quoted is tax free, so that's not being included.

Hi, I am buying a r9 390 very soon and I think I need to get a good monitor. I can spend around 200 - 250 euro. I play a lot of CSGO and a bit of H1Z1 and Arma 3/2. I was thinking of getting a 144hz monitor. I dont want to spend too much since I am buying the r9 390. I want a good gaming monitor that isn't too much (doesn't have to be 144hz). I think I saw somewhere that the cheap 144hz ones (I think AOC is the brand) were crappy. Something like they are slightly faulty monitors that Samsung and other companies would have thrown out but were bought buy this company?(not too sure about this) I live in Ireland so I can only really buy from sites in Europe (mainly UK).

Hi, im just going to get striaght to the point. I am looking for a 144hz/120hz monitor under £240/$340. If it could have IPS with it that would be good if not a TN that produces half decent colors. Saying this how much worse are TN panels compared to IPS because i have only ever had an IPS monitor. Here's a few i have been looking at so if you could help me choose between these that would be good or if you can find an even better monitor within my budget then amazing! This asus one is my favorite so far: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-VG248QE-24-inch-LED-Monitor/dp/B00B19T7QC/ref=pd_cp_147_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1PZWMWA9KKWNXV3RKSQC&dpID=41WiNKwv9vL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL70_SR70%2C70_ http://www.box.co.uk/Benq_Xl2411Z_24_LED_3D_1080P_Gaming_Mon_1551974.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw1_KwBRDEz_WvncL4jGwSJAAEym0d2ClpUodYCovbDq-nQxHimlqA0MiSMYw1hk13CH1hnxoCZuzw_wcB http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-25UM57-Ultrawide-Monitor-2560x1080/dp/B010JRGIR2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444755911&sr=8-1&keywords=lg+ultrawide http://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-G2460PQU-Widescreen-Multimedia-Kensington/dp/B00C144AYK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444748671&sr=8-1&keywords=144hz+ips http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-GN246HLBid-inch-Monitor-EcoDisplay/dp/B00IG0Z0HY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444749602&sr=8-1&keywords=Acer+Predator+GN246HLB Please look on UK sites since that's where i am buying from also the "MONITOR MUST BE VESA MOUNT COMPATIBLE" Thanks, Luke.

I know, I know. Never buy low-end GPUs. But, long story short, a friend of mine wants needs one for gaming. The card must be half-height and pull very little power, that narrows it down to the GT 730 (The one with the 64 bit bus and 384 CUDA cores), the 750ti, and the R7 250. However, the 750ti costs too much so I'm stuck deciding between the GT 730 or R7 250. I know that both are pretty pathetic, but which one performs the best? In short, R7 250 or GT 730 for casual gaming?

So I got this computer for around 330- 340 us dollars. It has 8 gigs of ram, AMD APU 7870k overclocked to 4.1ghz stock and 4.5ghz turbo with integrated r7 250 1 gig and assrock fm2a88m-hd+ r2.0. The stock frequency of the gpu is 866mhz but I can overclock it to around 930-940 without any problems(thanks msi afterburner). My question is: Is it worth it getting a second r7 250 for dual graphics(and if yes which version the ddr3 2 gigs one or the gddr5 1 gig one), or getting a new gpu(for example r9 390x)? I have low budget and in my country few people actually sell pc parts(I mean like on ebay) so the "how much time and money does it take" factor is also very important. I'm happy with the processor (it rarely goes over 3.8) but the gpu is not satisfying at all. To get 40-50 fps on AC rouge I had to to lower the resolution to 1024x720p and that's on medium settings. What do you guys think?

Hey LTT, Recently I've been thinking of upgrading my laptop, due to college needs, the laptop I'm using is a HP 250 G3 with the following configuration: CPU: i3 4005u RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz HDD: 500GB 5400RPM + adding SSD in a few days GPU: Nvidia 820m 1GB This is a pretty basic configuration for my college needs and some CS:GO so no need to OC or anything but I do have the need for more RAM due to VMs. So I got this great deal on these two RAM modules Kingston 4GB 1600Mhz CL11 http://www.winwin.rs/racunari-i-komponente/racunarske-komponente/ram-memorije/memorija-sodimm-ddr3l-4gb-1600mhz-kingston-kvr16ls11-4-1187384.html Price: 28.3 euro Kingston HyperX Impact 4GB 1600MHz CL9 http://www.winwin.rs/racunari-i-komponente/racunarske-komponente/ram-memorije/memorija-sodimm-ddr3l-4gb-1600mhz-kingston-hyperx-impact-hx316ls9ib-4-4750439.html Price: 29.1 euro So it's obvious, right, get the HyperX, it has a cooler and a much better warranty. My question is: Does it matter if it's CL11 or CL9 in a laptop since I don't know what the stock 4GB of on board RAM is??? I couldn't find anything in the HP manual for this laptop except that it needs 1600MHz DDR3L RAM at 1.35V and both of these sticks match the description. Thanks and cheers!

I'm in dear need of new headphones. I have $250 for headphones. They have to be very comfortable and have great sound quality as well. Thanks. Also, I would prefer for them to not be open, but rather to have a closed design.

I know this isn't supposed to be in this section but I couldn't find one that would fit my post. So I'm asking you guys some tech you would recommend under $250. I kinda need a new pair of cans but I think I'll be fine for now. And no computer parts. I've already thought about that and I may get some to finish my build. I dont want components because Windows 7 is $100 (unless one of you have a copy I could have for freeeeeee  ) Just kidding! So yeah. Thanks guys!

Hi, i'm searching for a new pair of headphones and don't really know much abot this topic. I already did a lot of research but didn't find anything that fills my needs. So... First of all VERY IMPORTANT i'm searching for on-ear or over-ear headphones not in-ear! They should be very comfortable because i'm going to wear them 3 to 4 hours every day. They will be used on pc as well as on my smartphone and i'm going to do pretty much anything with them: Gaming, Music (I hear pretty much every genre) , Video Editing, Watching Movies and so on. I like bass, so there can be a bit more of that as on completly neutral headphones. I already tried the Sennheiser Momentum OverEar and sound-wise they where perfect, but the earcups where too small for my ears. I also liked the Bose QC25, but perhaps there's something better out there. My Budget is 250€ I hope you can help me with that PS: Sorry for my bad english

Hey everyone, I've been recently looking for an entry level laptop for college work, reports and some light software, maybe even some very light gaming (CS:GO and similar). I've thought about it and a Pentium dual-quad core and 4gb RAM with Intel HD graphics would have been good enough. I was planning on ordering the laptop and came across a sale from a store. I was planning on getting a Asus laptop as I have lots of experience with Asus products and 99.9% of the time it is positive. But the local store offered a deal on an HP 250 G3. CPU: Intel Core i3-4005U 1.7GHz (3MB cache, 2 cores, 4 threads) RAM: 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L (2 slots, 1 free) HDD: 500GB SATA 5400rpm GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 820M 1GB DDR3 Screen: 15.6 " LED HD 1366x768 (AntiGlare) Communication: WiFi, BT 4.0, LAN Ports: 2x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA, RJ45, 3.5mm combined Audio, card reader Web cam, Full keyboard with numerical and Li-ion 4-cell 41 WHr battery. Warranty: 12 months Now the weird part is, it was at a really good sale and a friends company managed to deduct tax from the purchase for me and I got it for 245e total. Was it a good purchase? I'm worried because of the i3s low clock, the Pentium in the Asus I was planning on buying was a quad core with Turbo Boost 2.16 to 2.56GHz, 4gb RAM (single slot) and same GPU but it cost 355e. Generally i3>Pentium in everything, but this Pentium is a true quad core and high clocked. I didn't feel like spending the 110e difference, I thought it would be better spent on a 4gb RAM stick and maybe a 256GB SSD. Thanks and cheers LTT community!

Hey guys, sorry for asking again but my price range increased to $400 if I can convince my father that it would be better for me. I am currently using a BenQ G2250 (very low I know) and have R7 260X and a FX 6300. I am looking into upgrading my monitor to something much better. I really want it to be with an IPS display, although I play a lot of FPS games, and 1080p, as I don't have a very good video card. So If you can suggest me a few maybe 3-4 monitors between 250 and 400 dollars and pointing out the differences would be really great! (maybe one that costs 250,300,350 and 400) The main reason I want a change is because when I don't use my Gunnar glasses my eyes hurt and become red. Thank you for your time! Edit: A good response time would be nice too!

So im picking out some parts for a new build. Im trying to go with a mid level expense/performance computer. I choose Kaveri. Linus and AMD say that Kaveri is great with an R7 250, so thats what im gonna spring for. The R7 250 has two variants and a million manufactures. I wanted an answer for some questions about them. >should I go with the GDDR5 1 gig or the DDR3 2 gig? >Which manufactures would you guys recommend? >Should I even be buying a R7 250, or is there a better card out there now for that price range? >Would it be worth crossfiring it with the Kaveri or doubling up on that cards later down the road? Thanks alot guys. I appreciate the help here. If it means anything im planning on using a Asus Crossblade Ranger.

Okay so im still not sure what processor to by for my 1155 socket mobo, i was thinking either xeon or i5 like the title states but i wasnt sure which. i know that ghz dont matter but i wasnt sure if hyper threading would help with preformance, because i know many games dont take advantage of like quad or six core cpus. my theory is that the more hyper threading the quicker it is. the ghz is the same of the xeon i was looking at compared to the i5 i was going to buy which was a 3570k. i know that xeon doesnt have on board graphics like the i5 does but that is why i was going to buy a 660ti any way. But looking for some thoughts, ideas, or suggestions thank you :)

Hi! I'm looking for a sweet pair of cans on a budget of 250 US dollars. I have a Xonar Essence STX and won't be using these anywhere except my PC, so the impedance is a non-factor. Comfort is important since I game a lot, as well as listen to music while I work, so when I wear these I'll be wearing them for extended periods of time. I also really enjoy solid low end. I don't want basshead headphones, but I'd rather them be bass-heavy than anemic. I was leaning heavily towards used DT 880 Pros, but I can't have a coiled cable since my computer is a few feet from my chair, and I don't want it stretching across my keyboard. I've looked at the Audio Technica ad900x as well, so if anyone had any experiences with them I'd like to hear about it. Thank you for your input!
