Hi, long time viewer first time poster. Ive had a Gigabyte 2080 Super Windforce OC for about 3 years now. The card doesn't thermal throttle, though it does get VERY loud frequently. The fans seem to jump from about 60-70% to 100% for a minute and back down. Here's some information about my system and ideas to fix it, it would help me a lot to get some opinions on this. The card was originally in a mid tower with a glass panel, and has now been moved into a ITX case (with good airflow, the Hyte revolt 3) With the switch I also changed from Intel to Amd. The card and case are clean. I have exchanged the thermal paste of the card before. I found it was very dried out, and changing actually fixed it for about 1 month before it was back to its loud old self. Here's some system specs: Ryzen 5 7600 2080 Super 16gb DDR5 Asus Strixs ITX mobo Windows 11 I feel like the card runs hotter because of some manufacturers defect, I got it new but discounted on ebay. I've thought about 1. liquid metal instead of the thermal paste to fix the drying out issue, and 2. deshrouding it and putting on 2 be quiet case fans. The visuals of the card aren't important, and voiding the warranty doesn't matter since its run out anyways. Thank you for any and all help. :)

So I've been doing some OCing on my GPU with decent gains through Afterburner but no matter what I do, it always boots up with the GPU fans at 50%. Whether a restart, coming awake from sleep, or turning it on for the first time that day... Always the same thing. In order to make it stop, I have to open Afterburner and then the fans immediately go to auto. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Afterburner a couple of times, but no dice. Currently its uninstalled and the fans are ramped up. I have the latest drivers. Anybody know how to fix this? Full Specs: Ryzen 5 3600X, EVGA Black Gaming RTX 2080 Super, 32 GB of Corsair Vengence LPX at 3600 Mhz CL18, Asus TUF X570 Plus WIFI, Silicon Power NVMe 256GB (boot drive), Samsung 980 Pro 1TB, 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM Hard Drive, 650 Watt Cooler Master 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply.

Hello linustechtips members. The past week my pc have been running games very poorly. I build my pc around 2 years ago now, and everything has been running amazing until recently, it seems to only effect my games. My hardware; Asus rog strix 2080 super oc i9 9900kf 8x4 corsair vengeance rgb pro 3200 mhz Asus rog maximus xi hero (wifi) corsair RM750 80+ gold NZXT kraken x52 x2 Samsung 970 evo plus 1TB NZXT h510 I will go into more details now. I have been using csgo to test while my pc has been acting weird, and here is a screenshot for context. The game is in 1440p with settings on low. As you will be able to see in the picture, I have 92 fps, and gpu usage of 95%. This is how my pc have been running every game I have tested such as, league of legends, rust and so on. https://gyazo.com/bedda8376548ab03b3c7277ae2a5ac9a A few days ago, when i booted my pc up and started csgo, my fps was back to it's usual self, as you will be able to see in the screenshot, approx 571 fps with same settings as mentioned earlier. The pc felt normal and everything worked amazing, or so i thought, the next morning when I woke up, my pc was back to acting weird with very low fps, it has now been stuck like that since, and once in a while when I boot it up, the fps in games are great. If you look on the last screenshot, you will also be able to see that the gpu usage is way lower at around 58% compared to the 95% usage in the first screenshot. https://gyazo.com/f99f8ec35f70520fb8da3e1fc68afefd I have been running some cinebench r15 tests, and i get around 2000-2050 in score, which is around the normal for a stock i9 9900k. I have also been running some 3dmark tests, and they also seem to be as they should. I can send a screenshot of one of those, if needed. Solutions I have tried so far; Reset windows Reset bios back to factory settings, and only enabled xmp. Downloaded newest and older versions of bios. removed all drivers for gpu, cpu and motherboard and downloaded newest version and older versions. All thermals are looking fine, from what I can see. V-sync are disabled in NVidia control panel. power settings is put on high performance. I am running out of suggestions myself, for what It could be. I appreciate all the help I can get extremely much, so thank you.

My brother got a pc and he managed to get a 2080 super but every game he tries to play it goes around to 15-60 fps and we can't figure out why. He clicked on the lowest settings but there was hardly any difference.
-
Heres my setup. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mGCKkX Basically, recently I bought a 2080 Super used. Pretty new, from what i know, only used for like 3 weeks. But I have been playing with it, and I'm not very satisficed. I believe my 2080 is underperforming, but i dont wanna spend $20 on 3Dmark. My Cpu and Gpu usage is around 40-50% both on games. I average on high, 1440p. 60fps on fortnite. Is that normal? I really dont think it is. (I am running at 3.7GHZ.

Was inspired by various YT channels to include LTT, this is actually my first ever build and it blew me away by how it actually turned out. I learned how to build simply by watching multiple step by step guides for it and how to set up bios, etc. I have yet to name this but I think part of the concept was mainly from looking at Alienware pics sometime ago and wanting to make something that really deserves that name. I'm not much for a gamer, but I plan to utilize this for animation and evolving my art from just having an iPad alone.

Summary Benchmarks and specifications of an alleged NVIDIA AD106 GPU have appeared on Chiphell forums, @harukaze5719 on Twitter posted all the details. The AD106 GPU in question could be the GeForce RTX 4070 Mobile, RTX 4060 Desktop, or RTX 4060 Ti Desktop. This AD106 GPU has been compared to the GeForce RTX 2080 Super and the RTX 3070 Ti or TU104 and GA104 silicon. Quotes My thoughts This is an interesting leak/rumor, as the performance isn't as bad as some other rumors were originally suggesting. If a 4060 or 4060 Ti offer around 3070 Ti performance, that really isn't too shabby, all things considered. Even if this is a 4070 Laptop GPU, that's not that bad either, offering desktop 3070 Ti performance. It should be noted that the original poster on Chiphell forums has since removed all these details, so take with a grain of salt and remain skeptical. However, in his updated post he does mention that final performance of AD106 will be higher and this performance isn't representative of future AD106 cards. There is also mention in that thread of someone with a 4060 Ti claiming 3080 performance. So, whatever AD106 part this is, the performance is pretty good if these results are accurate (and if we expect some performance increases in the final silicon). This card appears to be geared towards 1080p or 1440p. Especially with only 8GB of VRAM. Kind of a step backward from the 3060 12GB. Although, the 3060 Ti did have 8GB of VRAM. One of the biggest concerns with this AD106 part is pricing. As if it's priced anything like the Ada cards that have been released thus far, it will probably cost at least $500. While that's a $100 discount from the 3070 Ti MSRP, this AD106 part will need to perform more like a 3080 to be a better value proposition (since the 3080 MSRP was $699). Despite all this, I think the midrange market is suffering and cards like this need to be released soon. I know 40 Series Laptop GPU embargo lifts on the 7th or 8th. Therefore, we might get a better understanding of performance with low to midrange Ada cards around then (since that includes the 4070, 4060, and 4050). Screen double vision or mirroring while playing games
HazardOptics posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I'm currently running an msi rtx 2080 super and amd ryzen 7 3700x build and ive had this issue since day 1. My monitor is the Dell s2719dgf but i believe the problem may be my GPU. All drivers are updated and my windows is up to date as well. No matter what game I play unless its something less graphically intense my screen gets a strange double vision or mirroring look and doesnt go away until I restart. Ive played GTA V, Call of duty modern warfare, dayz, assassins creed odyseey and they all do this and force me to restart. Any help would be extremely appreciated! Sooo like most people I ran into a bit of extra stimulus cash and decided to upgrade. Went from a crappy budget $55 Deepcool case to a $260 Fractal Define 7 case. Started off as this cramped mess with my old rx480 ... Did the transplant operation .... NURSE GIVE ME 50CC'S OF DATA STAT! (pardon the kitchen bench ) And about 24 hours later I ended up here. Not without drama though, the first AIO cooler I got was leaking! so had to take it back to the store and get it swapped I take my whole rig in cause it was easier at the time but they were really busy so the guy asked can I remove it, I'm like sure lol so he handed me a screw driver and took off the cooler in-store on their display bench. got home and put it all back together, also got some nice red/black power extension cables for the gpu as the ones from the power supply are really chunky and hard to manipulate. All in all I'm pretty happy about it. Next step is to get a small led matrix audio visualiser powered by an Arduino or some type of active screen and stick it on that panel. Edit I forgot to put in the extra back shot of all the hidden HDD & cabling goodness

Budget (including currency): $2900 after tax Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Siege, Apex and programming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Rate my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Trcmhg Had a budget of about $3000 so decided with these parts. I was gonna go for 2080ti but found the 2080 super to be better price wise. Might end up upgrading to new cards later this year anyways. I do a lot of editing, programming, youtube/browsing, and gaming so 32gb surprisingly wasn't cutting it for me (average about 24gb a day in usage). So decided with 64gb 3600 CL17. Most power supplies were sold out so could only go with this one. 4.0 M.2 and case my dad gave me, hence the $0 price tag.

I’m planning on upgrading my system. I want to buy the RTX 2080 Super from ASUS. But it’s Price has increased to about $CAD 1200. And it’s rumored that NVIDIA is gonna release the new 3000 series soon. Or I could get the Razer Raptor display( which is 144Hz, 1440P, 27 inch). my current pc specs: GTX 1060 6GB i7-9700k my monitor: some old dell monitor. It’s like 24 inch. 1080P, 60Hz and 8ms response time. And it’s thick. so I’m not sure if I should buy the monitor now(I’d have to play at lower graphics settings because the card won’t be able to handle the better monitor) and wait for the 3000 series or just buy the card. Im just looking for opinions because I’m really stumped at what my best option is.

I am going to be upgrading my PC soon and was wondering if it is possible or even worth the time to Overclock a Gigabyte Windforce OC RTX 2080 Super. I have tried to find a Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 2080 Super but to no avail. I do not want to get the 2080 Super reference card. I prefer 3rd party GPU. If it is worth Overclocking the card any advice on how to do it safely would be appreciated also. I have looked online but all I can find is information on overclocking the Gigabyte Gaming OC version. Any information, advice, and/or tips would be greatly appreciated. *I am a complete NOOB to overclocking. Please consider this when replying. My brain and PC both Thank You * Thank you all in advance.

Hello together, I bought a Zotac 2080 Super Twin Fan very cheap some days ago and run it with my current system (see below). I know it's not the best 2080s but for such price i go for it. The cooling is under control and is not throttling anything Now my problem: I would say, that I have very bad performance for with the new GPU (see also below). My old GPU was a "6GB MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G" which was really good over the last years. Most of the time I play on my 3440x1440 monitor, but over the years the performance there got worse and worse and I can no longer play the games on medium with sufficient FPS. Therefor I changed it to the 2080 Super (bought it for 640€ which is cheap in Germany). Nevertheless, Apex, No Man's Sky, Shadow of the Tomb Raider are all worse and far away from other benchmarking scores. So now I'm wondering if I should switch to an AMD Ryzen 3800k with Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite AMD X570 to use the card completely. The RAM should be this: 16GB G.Skill RipJaws V black DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16. But it is worth spending ~700€ for it? Hopefully you can help me decide and/or tell me why I have such bad performance. I know the 2070S is by far the better price/performance, but I'm also going to be buying a new monitor and watercooling my PC in the next few months. So, I've got a few questions: If I'm watercooling mostly for fun/looks but maybe a little overclocking, does it make any sense to buy anything other than the founder's edition cards since any fancy cooling solution will be junked anyway? Second question, if I'm looking at a 120 or 144hz monitor, is the 2070S going to be a bottleneck on a 1440p in AAA titles? I'm no monitor expert, but I've been looking at a couple of monitors that LTT has featured. The LG Linus recently shot a video on as well as this Aorus: https://www.newegg.com/black-gigabyte-aorus-series-aorus-ad27qd-sa-27/p/N82E16824012006 Spending the extra $200 is definitely doable for the 2080S, but if the benefits aren't really going to be significant I'd rather keep my $200. I know there's no clear cut answer here, but I'd be interested in your thoughts and opinions on how you all would think about this decision. Best, Matt

Hi there, I'm upgrading from an old i5 3570k with GTX 970. I use my PC for work and heavy gaming (really heavy), but i don't play completely esports or anything, mostly casual, additionally as Plex server, VM, Testing web server. I won't upgrade the storage now, so I'm staying with my SSD and SATA drives for now. I play on 60hz Monitor with vsync so i will cap to 60 fps at 1440p, or occasionally 4K to my TV with lower settings and i don't plan to change this. I don't plan to OC unless needed in the future also don't plan to use PBO as any of the choices should be fine for 1440p 60fps if needed without AA i don't mind it, just prefer good frame pacing. I wonder between: x570 mobo with ryzen 3700x and 2070 super OR B450 board, Ryzen 3600 and 2080 super Both will be roughly the same price I know that x570 with 3700x will give me much more headroom for gpu upgrade in the future, but i 2080 super will give me more now. Whats your toughs. For RAM: There isn't much choice at my local stores so basically CL16 2x 8GB 3200 or CL16/18 2x 8GB 3600 I know CL 14 is better but with double the price i don't think its worth it at most i saw 3 fps difference, you can share your view. For the Case I wanted to go with CM H500 or CM 694 but both are not available out of stock at the moment, so maybe go with Thermaltake Commander C35, really there isn't much options for HAF cases... For PSU I think between 650W or 750W Seasonic Focus platinum For CPU cooling Arctic esports 34 Duo or Hyper 212 black/rbg/turbo etc I would like your input and thoughts, thank you.

So, I have been browsing EVGA's inventory, as one does during their anniversary event. I have been checking out what they have on sale and browsing their b-stock products, when I stumbled onto something interesting; you can get a new Titan X for only $399.99 USD now. So, that got me thinking, would a Titan X be comparable in performance (minus raytracing) to an RTX 2080. Going off of Toms Hardware GPU Performance Hierarchy, both cards are neck and neck as fare as their performance score (96.0 and 96.1 respectively). However, is the new architecture of an upper tear RTX card and real time raytracing really that much better when compared to a top tear Maxwell card? ~ Price for GeForce GTX TITAN X = $399.99 USD (new via EVGA at this time) ~ Price for GeForce RTX 2080 = $699.99 USD MSRP (can be found for a little less right now) I am not looking for advice on what to do, but just want to get some input/discussion going on from the community. Any thoughts? Another dynamic to consider is that RTX 2080 cards are likely to flood 2nd hand sites like Ebay once the RTX 2080 Super goes on sale, so comparing the used prices of a Titan X and a 2080 might change things. Note: the RTX 2080 super hasn't been revealed at the time of this post. My stance right now would be to save the $300 and go for the Titan X just because it seems like it has a much better cost to performance. Real time Raytracing is still very new and not really worth the additional cost, at least not yet. I am looking forward to what the 2nd generation RTX cards have to offer though.

So just got myself a Strix 2080 Super...this is my first time using NVIDIA so I have ton of questions. First of in the NVIDIA Control Panel, 3D Management, is there anything I should tweak ? Any sort of settings maybe I should turn off or on, something like that.... 1) Do I really need to install NVIDIA GeForce Experience ? Because I skipped that. 2) I can only tweak the GPU Clock, Power Limit etc via MSI Afterburner / ASUS Tweak ?? Unlike AMD which you can do with their Radeon Settings. 3) On MSI AB it shows that my Temp Target is 84C...should I increase that or just keep it as so ? 4) For some reason both GPU-Z and MSI AB shows that I have 2 Fans on my GPU....Fan 1 Fan 2...same for Fan Tachometer....why so ? I thought it doesn't matter how many fans you have on your GPU it had always only been 1 for all AMD cards. 5) On MSI AB Monitoring, there's a graph for " Power " is that the " Power Limit " reading ? On my previous Vega 64 MSI AB actually shows how much Wattage of my GPU consume... 6) Memory Clock @ 9000mhz ++ what ???? Maybe I've been using HBM Memory for too long lol...but since when did Memory Clock goes up this high lol ?? So what's are the Average Memory Clock for GPU these days ?? If I come up with more questions I will post it here.

Hi I am building a computer for the first time in about 8 years. Went with the Aorus Xtreme x570 board and the EVGA 2080 Super FTW however, this card doesn’t seem to fit into the motherboard because of the bulky GPU and fairly low clearance + the elevated lower right corner of the mobo (where the SATA ports are). Has anyone else run into issues with fitting this card or with GPU clearance on this board? I'm trying to decide if I should just order a different GPU - although it would suck if the new one also doesn’t fit - versus a new board, although the Aorus is supposedly pretty great! Thanks
