WANTED! 2-in-1 Laptop 14-16" (16 preferred) R7-7840 U/HS 2560:1600 (true 16:10 1440p) M.2 2280 Slot (preferable second one, too) 16+ GB RAM (is it too much to hope for extendable one?) USB PD Charging (USB-C charging) 2x USB-A AND 2x USB-C Decent sound / trackpad / keyboard Maybe an OLED display? 400 nits, 90 Hz? Joke aside, if you know about a laptop like that, please let me know! Why is it that I can't find any R7-7840 Laptop? The HS "launched" in January. (Not even Notebookcheck seems to have done any tests on it...) Does anyone know if laptop manufacturers could just rebrand the 6800Us to 7735U, or are they actually "new chips"? Also, why isn't it more common to be able to buy a laptop without storage and Windows license? I own multiple legal Win10 licenses. I do not want to buy another one, thank you! A year ago I'd have loved the Yoga 7 (16" AMD) (GER/US), even though you only get a 300 nits, 60 Hz, 1080p (yeah, it's 1920x1200, but it's 1080 class) display. But now, the I want the new and shiny, or a sizeable price advantage over last gen (and no, the 7735U is not new. I refuse!) What are your thoughts? What are the specs you're looking for? Do you think any of my choices are stupid? Let's talk about it! - Jhon

Hello there, I travel a lot for work, and I carry my work-provided laptop with me. I need a 2nd, thin, light, convertible 2-in-1 laptop/tablet combo for my personal use (mostly media consumption and a bit of web browsing). I purchased a HP Spectre Folio 13, the leather wrapped 2-in-1 laptop, when it was released, for this usage before COVID. I loved the look, but more importantly the crazy long (18h advertised) battery life it has, as well as the convenient modes of folding it either flat or as a stand to watch movies (*very* helpful on planes). I also love the fact that is doesn't have any moving parts, so it's dead silent all the time. However it's been a few years now, and the leather is starting to tear at the seams, and the machine could use a replacement (battery life isn't what it used to, and I can barely get 6-7h out of it now As you might have understand by now, I don't need a powerful machine, I need: - 2-in-1 convertible (laptop mode + tablet mode, ideally with a similar "stand" position as the Spectre Folio 13 has) - 13" screen - 1080p screen is enough (more would probably drain the battery way too much) - 12-14h on battery (Cover most flights I take. more is always better) - USB-C charging (no proprietary stuff!) - Silent (no fan ideally) - At least 512GB of storage. More is welcome, user extensible is a plus, but not a requirement - 8GB of RAM minimum (16GB or more welcome, as long as it's not a drain on the battery, user replacement is a plus, but soldered on is okay) - No opinion on CPU, APU, etc. as long as it's able to play/transcode media content for VLC, Netflix, Youtube, etc. - No discreet GPU needed, I don't game on this machine - Windows based (Netflix app on Windows allows for download/local cache). I have a mac for work, and I don't want to tinker with Linux for this usage. Bottom line, I pretty much only use this thing as a web browsing and video playback machine (legally acquired DRM free local files, Netflix cached or Youtube). Any idea? I wasn't able to find something that fits the bill (No budget on this, price isn't that important, I need the functionalities first and foremost). Thank you for reading this and hopefully pointing me in the right direction! Best regards, Zak

I am currently looking for a new 2-in-1 for school. Of course, I plan on doing some gaming on it, especially when I travel, but I'm not looking for anything with crazy graphics. I'm a mechanical engineering student and I prefer to run Linux on my machines. I was previously running a Lenovo flex 14, the one shown in this LTT video. ( https://youtu.be/Nfz46HXvPLc ) It served me very well and there were very few things I could complain about. I even upgraded it is 16 Gb of ram and a terabyte of storage. Sadly I have to replace it. My dad Spilled a glass of soda with ice right on top of the keyboard. As soon as it happened, I turned it upside down and tried to shake some of the liquid out while I was holding down the power button to force it to shut down. Luckily I was able to save the motherboard, but the keyboard is shot, and the screen is flickering. Part of me wants to try to replace the keyboard and live with the screen, but I also want to look at my options for something new. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

So I have a Thinkpad X1 Yoga and the frame around the screen seems to be cracked near the left hinge, causing the screen to almost lift itself out of the case when opening the laptop or flipping the screen to use tablet mode. You can sorta see slight cracks on the back of the case. I saw recommendations for using hypoxy or super glue when the case of the laptop was damaged, can I use those same fixes in this case? Thanks in advance (In some of the pictures I'm applying slight pressure to the screen)

So I was wondering what would be the best 2-in-1 Laptop for gaming? But with a budget of 500-2000€. The idea is that i'd like it to be able to run Rocket League 60+ fps on medium settings or so and so forth. So light-ish gaming on the move. I'd like it to have atleast 2 usb-a ports and a 3.5mm jack and a 1080p display. I've found several options but with every options there is some kinda "but", either it's not good for gaming, or it's not good at all, it has a 4k display which drains battery way faster, the battery is too small and cant last 5hrs which is kinda like my minimum, like i'd like it to last 5hrs not gaming all the time but movies, or light work and stuff like that. So far the only option i've found to fit into my budger, is the lenovo yoga c940 with a 1080p display. But the problem of living where i am (Finland), Amazon, walmart or other america/canada etc. based shops arent really an.. option and prices are higher here for.. everything it seems so its cheaper to buy stuff from inland stores instead of spending 100€ on shipping and customs. But if y'all have any recommendations i'll check them out and see if i can find something around here, but if u do find smth on Amazon that's actually ELIGIBLE for shipping to Finland it's also an option depending on the price.

So, my old laptop is getting abit long in the tooth and the time has to come to take it out back of the barn and... be merciful. Which is a long way of saying I'm planning on buying a new laptop, the thing is though is that I'm not sure what to get. I don't need a desktop replacement or gaming beast, but I do have a pretty tight list of things I do want. Basically, I'm after a 2-in-1, or something in the style of the Surface Pro, it doesn't need to be too serious specced and ideally I want a price that is 500 to 600 ish (GBP) I saw a couple that seem along the right lines, a dell one https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/2-in-1-laptops/new-inspiron-14-5000-2-in-1/spd/inspiron-14-5491-2-in-1-laptop/cn51901 and a lenovo https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-c-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-C340-14API/p/88IPC301189 The lenovo seems to have more ram of the bat, although a google tells me that the intel processor is slightly better performing. I know that I can pop the back of the Dell and increase ram and storage, assume that the lennie is the same. Normally I'd head out to a store and have a poke and prod, but human malware has put a stop to that, basically this just a sanity check to make sure I haven't missed anything obvious. (PS. By total coincidence I have a HP pavilion laptop for sale)

Hello, I live in Germany and I´m a student. Id like to buy a fairly cheap convertible notebook. The best bang for the buck. But I just cant decide between these two laptops: Lenovo Yoga 510: http://shop.lenovo.com/de/de/laptops/yoga/500-series/yoga-510-14/ HP Pavilion x360: http://store.hp.com/GermanyStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Z5E09EA&opt=ABD&sel=NTB Both are similar in specs and prices. Intitially i wanted to spend a maximum of 600 euros but at that price tag i could only get a core i3, so I thought Id go higher for better performance. I would love to hear opinions of people that had experience with similar or the same laptops and maybe give me some advice. In therms of display I also cant decide between 13 and 14 inch and need some tips for that too.

Owner of an Asus T100TA for a few years and generally quite satisfied with it! But just like anything else in electronics - I'm pondering an upgrade. The functionality was enough at the time - especially for ~$400-450. But i'd like - a better CPU - some more RAM - on an actual FullHD (1920x1080) screen - an ability to expand storage via SD - at least the same several hours of battery life length I know there are options that use a screen that rotates completely around - but what I'm thinking of is the same as the Asus - a way to detach it. Anyone researched the market recently? What stuff is available?

This may not exist, but I'm trying to fine a tablet with attachable keyboard for under $800 that has iris/iris pro/iris plus graphics. Anyone know of one that exists or is upcoming? If I can't find one I might just go with the Acer switch alpha 12.

Hello, I really like the idea of the Surface Book. A powerful laptop and tablet in one device intrigues me. I am looking for a laptop for college and I thought the Surface Book was a no-brainer, but the price tag, and the lack of USB-C is frightening me. I need something with a gpu, around the same or better than the gtx 965m 2gb, preferably better than the 965m. I also need usb-c/Thunderbolt 3, and it needs to be a 2-in-1 with very good build quality. As of yet, think that the Surface Book with Performance Base is my only option for a powerful 2-in-1 for college. I'm looking for something better, does anyone know of a 2-in-1 that sounds anything like what I'm looking for?

The Lenovo Yoga 720 is compatible with the new Wacom G13 pens that should be coming out soon, along with the Lenovo Active Pen 2. I have been looking all over for a release date everywhere, but I'm not turning anything up. Does anyone know anything about the G13 or a similar pen that is compatible with the 720 and offers similar pressure levels? I would like a programmable button or 2

What I need: $1,000 New Or Used (I can go on eBay) 1080p+ IPS screen or better Can fold to flat, or 360 degrees. Offer smart pen support (no touch stylus that you can get at a random Target) More than 4GB ram 128GB SSD+ Backlit Keyboard 1 or more USB type A What is nice to have: Good battery life Close to 18mm thickness or less USB-C support 13-14 inches, 12 is acceptable i5 mobile processor Glass Trackpad Great keyboard

Hi all, I was wondering if it was possible to get around the limitation so many laptops seem to have now where they have a touch screen but no digitizer for active pen support. I was wondering if some third party manufacturers made styli that could overcome this by sending all the pressure information via bluetooth (this howtogeek explains they should exist: https://www.howtogeek.com/177376/not-all-tablet-styluses-are-equal-capacitive-wacom-and-bluetooth-explained/ ) So I see there is a model by Wacom for the iPad, but has anyone seen anything like that for windows laptops? I hope someone has the answer.

Disclaimer : While the first two devices are almost certainly coming (unless Nvidia pulls out a Shield Tablet X1-type move), the third one is just extrapolation based on previous news dating back to April 24th, and experience as to Nvidia’s method of announcing new Shield products. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we. On June 15th, XDA-Developpers reported that they had found a device codenamed “mdarcy” in "the Google Play Developer Consoles’ Device Catalogue". The product was supposed to boast the revised, shrunk-down version of the Tegra X1 found in the new Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite, the t210b01. What supports this is the fact that “mariko” is the codename for the t210b01 chip, and “darcy” is the device name for the 2017 Shield TV, and “mdarcy” is obviously a “darcy” device based on “mariko”. The device will likely have a smaller footprint conpared to the 2017 current-gen Shield TV, and could go fanless (I personally don’t back up this claim, as even the Nintendo Switch Lite, which consumes certainly less power than a fixed set-top-box, needs a fan and heatsink in order not to overheat, so imagine a device that would stay in your living room 100% of the time and that would have higher clock speeds in order to output 4K at 60fps… Yeaaah, it’s gonna be a no for me). But while we knew Nvidia was planning mdarcy, on August 5th, some new leaks coming directly from the related FCC filing by Nvidia have taught us that they’re planning a second Shield TV device codenamed “sif”. And unlike mdarcy, sif is supposedly the next-gen Shield TV. It is currently unclear which chip Nvidia chose for sif, but I would expect the Tegra X2 or the low-power version of the Tegra Xavier, since it will need to be more powerful than mdarcy (also, don’t trust the website when it says mdarcy and sif will share SoCs as their claim isn’t backed up by any source whatsoever and it simply doesn't make any sense). IO-wise, sif will apparently present no USB port (which I find quite strange and disappointing but oh well…) nor will it support/feature a TV tuner. Fast forward to the 30th of September, and mysmartprice.com reported that sif was just certified for Bluetooth 5.0 by the Bluetooth SIG, confirming what we know from the FCC filings and the Shield Experience 8,0 update. And we know the device concerned is not mdarcy because of the model number, that is to say P3430. The Bluetooth certification usually happening near the release date of new products, we can definitely expect the new Shield TVs some time soon, possibly before the end of the year (I really can’t imagine Nvidia unveiling these alongside the 1660ti Super, 1650ti and 1660 Super), or Q1 2020 (although I have no clue as to why they would do that). Both Shield TVs will also likely come out with new accessories, two of which were leaked in March: a controller, “stormcaster”, and a remote, “friday”. But that’s only two devices, right? And I promised you three. So, the Shield 2-in-1 convertible tablet, codename “mystique”. I know, there haven’t been any more leaks pointing to a release being due for the same time frame as the two above (the only clue we got of the existence of such a product was on the 24th of April), however the thing is Nvidia has always released their Shield products all at the same time, and around that time of the year. Plus, it’s been 4 years since we last got a mobile device from Nvidia (NO, the Nintendo Switch DOESN’T COUNT), and more importantly, between April and present time, a game-changing event (for this device, at least ) occurred: Android 10 has dropped, and it features a desktop mode. You can see where this is going, right? I predict that if the tablet ever comes to exist, it will use it as following: when handheld (only the tablet, not the keyboard), it will run Android normally. But as soon as you’ll snap on the keyboard, it will switch to the desktop mode WHILE still outputting to the primary display, "Desktop" which is one of the three leaked modes Nvidia has worked on (more precisely, the “NVIDIA Desktop Experience”). From the April leak, you can also choose to activate a specific mode on start up. And with the new Surface line up just announced, I wonder if they’re not thinking about taking on Microsoft’s solution head to head before it is too late, as Microsoft plans to combine Android and Windws in one device. I REALLY hope mystique will come out before the end of the year alongside mdarcy and sif, so we can finally have a decently-priced top-spec Android tablet again (2015 vibes anyone?). Another thing I hope for is support for stormcaster with mystique, like the the precedent Shield Tablets have supported the STBs' controllers. WiFi 5 (802.11 ac if you prefer). So yeah, no WiFi 6, which isn't all that great (although users tend to prefer to connect SHIELD TVs via Ethernet). If it helps bringing the price down, like the absence of NFC on the Shield Tablet K1, then why not. No need for me to tell you the launch is nearing rapidly. My guess is Nvidia is targeting a release after the announcement at CES 2020, as other SHIELD TVs were announced there at that time of the year. By the way, we have a problem of conflicting sources here, as although I said sif was the device that was just certified, 9to5Google claims the model number P3430 (the model that got certified) refers to mdarcy, while literally every single other source has said P3430 was in fact sif. And by reading their article, it seems as though they don't know about sif's (or simply the other SHIELD TV in the works) existence. New sources : https://www.wi-fi.org/product-finder-results?keywords=P3430 https://9to5google.com/2019/10/03/nvidia-shield-tv-dongle-bluetooth-certification-android-pie/ (Take this one with a pinch of salt, like the mysmartprice link)

Hey so I recently "fixed" my laptop after crushing the screen slightly and not eh accelerometer or whatever controls the rotation function in windows is all sorts of messed up. As far as I can see there is no option in the bios to disable it. So, I wanted to know if it is possible to disable it in windows because the keyboard keeps turning off and the screen rotates because it thinks it is in tablet/folded mode when it’s not. Alternatively, is it possible for me to just remove the module completely from the machine? Thanks in advance for you’re input.

I normally don't like to make posts like these without taking a thorough scan of the boards and making sure this wasn't already addressed somewhere else, but my needs seemed a little unique so I thought I thought "what the hell, the worst they can do is link me to where it's been addressed already". I am looking for a 2-in-1 laptop primarily for take-offs on blueprints. I'm open to just using a tablet, but I feel the onboard keyboard and more throughput with a larger SSD & I/O ports to be handy. I'd like to buy a high-end machine, so let's not worry about the price too much. I live in the US and work in remodels and renovations.

Hi there, I would like to ask if anyone got the latest Thinkpad L13 Yoga 2-in1 laptop (10th gen intel CPU), and if it's any good for mid-to-heavy day to day usage (programming, mobile apps development, watching videos, streaming, taking notes, online work, light photo & video editing) also if anyone tested Linux and how it performs on this laptop would be really helpful. I'm thinking of getting this one for me, as I like all Thinkpad family (build quality and keyboard) and this one looks stunning with a wonderful price, so I wonder if there's anything hidden to make it that cheap! These are the specs I want: - i7-10510U CPU - 16G RAM I can see very good reviews from people on the product page here: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-l/ThinkPad-L13-Yoga/p/22TPL13L3Y1 Thanks.

Hello, I seem to have encountered a problem, My RCA CAMBIO 10.1" windows 10 home edition 2-in-1 tablet has just pulled a black screen on me, here are the steps to recreate it, 1. Make sure you're signed into an account with admin privileges. 2. Press win+a to attempt to bring up the action center. 3. Swipe left with finger 3 times. 4. Shut down the tablet with power button. 5 Turn on tablet. 6. Sign-in to the same account. Now you have the black screen! This is the best info I can get you Ctrl+alt+del still works, that I the only way I can get the task manager up, or log out of my account. What do I do now? Thanks in advance!

I've been looking at 2-in-1 ultrabooks to replace my current laptop. Mostly with the $800 to $1,200 price range. My main considerations have been: Lenovo Yoga C940 (currently my main pick) Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 HP Spectre x360 I was wondering if there were any other models that might be worth taking a look at.

I notice in this review of Asus Zenbook UX362 (Flip 13) and UX333 (13 none-flip) that the battery life in the none-flip version of Zenbook seem to be a lot better than its 2-in-1 counterpart. https://www.ultrabookreview.com/23572-asus-zenbook-flip-ux362fa-review/ https://www.ultrabookreview.com/23495-asus-zenbook-ux333fn-review/ Like what the title suggested, I am wondering why is this the case, since aside from the flipping mechanic (anday be the screen), these two model of Zenbook seem to be identical in nearly every way, including the battery size, CPU, and Ram. The UX333 has discrete graphic but otherwise this shouldn't impact their battery life (especially in a positive way) that much. I noticed in the two cases that the none-flip UX333 seem to also be run with significantly lower wattage though, any idea why? What make the battery performance in these two models differ so much depite having otherwise the same hardware in nearly every way. *yes the screen in these two models are probably not the same but flip UX362 model have even dimmer screen which shouldn't take that much toll on their battery.

So my dell inspiron came with SK hynix 4gb 2400mhz RAM. This one: I recently bought from ebay, another 4gb 2400 sodimm for 40AUD, I thought ot was a good deal: The problem is even though these sticks are 2400, in the Dell insprion bios they are 2133: 2-in-1: + new ram: Where did the rest of the MHz go? And how would I go about finding them? Cheers for any info.

I'm looking around for a 2-in-1 that can handle small games like Castleminer Z, Minecraft, and Terraria. It's a planned upgrade from a Yoga 710 with a 7200u in it. I'd also prefer that it's light, bout Macbook Air or Pro status; somewhat compact, like the current Yoga; and can hold a decent charge when not gaming, like 6+hours. The XPS 15 2-in-1 looks good, but the Vega M in it is somewhat overkill. Budget is roughly $1000 USD to about 1300. Oh. And this is for a friend who's mom is insistent they purchase from Best Buy -__-

Hey, Sorry for asking a question that gets asked a lot, I've been looking through some threads and while it has already helped me narrow down on my search for a new laptop, I'd like a little push in the right direction anyway. I am looking for an overall productivity laptop, mostly to be used for university (computer science). I run a business on the side so I'd ideally be using it for writing down notes, doing research for uni and running my business. (digital marketing, programming, editing, lead generation, blabla...) I don't need it to be able to run games, I have a high-end system at home. I'm looking for something relatively slick but powerful nonetheless. I was thinking about getting myself the latest XPS 15, but saw there was a back-to-school deal on the Microsoft Surface Book 2. I heard the Surface Books have reliability issues, so I'm not too sure. My budget is anything under €2500, I like the idea of it being a 2-in-1 (I really like the latest XPS, just not sure if it's a good idea to buy it right now) and am looking for something durable with high build quality. Any suggestions? --> Link to the Microsoft Surface Book 2 deal in case you're wondering. <-- Thanks!

Several of the big companies (Dell, Lenovo, etc.) allow for laptop customization. I've ran across several smaller companies that will do custom builds as well. But I haven't seen any smaller or lesser known companies that do custom convertible laptop builds, only regular laptops. Has anyone come across any companies that do custom 2-in-1's? If so, please post their names/links. I would love to see check out their work, and maybe others would too.
