Hey guys, i'm from a laptop and i'm using 2 monitors. I've turned off my laptop screen. Is there going to be a problem if I turn on both my monitor and my laptop screen. Will i have fps drop on games?

Hey guys, I am having an issue with my set up where having 2 monitors connected to my GPU is causing it to crash to grey or black screens. This tends to happen after the system only being on for a short time. However when I only use my main display the system runs fine. I am able to play games and use the pc as normal with no crashes at all. GPU temps are normal when gaming and the card is at stock clocks so I don't believe it's a temperature issue. I have the latest bios and drivers. I have tried doing a clean driver install using ddu to clear the old ones. Further I have tried a new dvi cable for the second monitor and using the hdmi port on the card instead. However the crashing still persists. The monitor works fine with my poxy work laptop so I don't think the problem lies there. I have looked at loads of forum posts detailing similar issues on older cards but can't find a solution that works for me. I'm at a bit of a loss with it, but I'm probably missing something really obvious. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hello, so I plan to buy a 4K monitor and I was wondering if my Nvidia 1060 can run 2 monitors ( x1 4k monitor , x1 FullHD monitor ) at the same time since its 2 different resolutions. I was thinking to run my old monitor on HDMI and the new one on Display Port. Old Monitor - VS248HR - https://www.asus.com/Displays-Desktops/Monitors/Eye-Care/VS248HR/ New Monitor - Dell P2720D IPS - https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-27-monitor-p2720d/apd/210-aulk/monitors-monitor-accessories Thank you.

Hi, I'm a long time youtube viewer, first time forum poster. (I dunno if I'm posting in the right place, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Lately I've been having a particular issue which made me think about benchmarks done when presenting cpus and gpus; nowadays, Some of us (or a lot of us) have 2 monitors, not necessarily fancy monitors but still, more than 1. And while we game, we're using that second monitor for youtube, maybe music, maybe twitch viewing, or anything really. But that second monitor cost precious gpu ressources, and sometimes, it might reach its limits. I used to have a 1440p and a 1080p secondary monigor, my 1440p died on me, and so I bought a 4k monitor. But now, opera dies quite often on youtube whenever I play games ! Out of Vram it says. Task manager tells the same story, my Vram is maxed out all the time. That never happened to me before, never really thought about it. And so I thought, maybe, could we have some actual benchmark ? how much Vram would we need ? can we maybe plug second monitor on our good old gpu taking dust and making sure our browser plays on the old gpu ? does it make a difference ? does it make it worse ? do fps drop significantly by just having youtube running or is it mostly fine ? Is 12gigs of Vram on brand new midrange gpus actually enough for multi-monitor content ? There are tons of questions that I'm wondering about now that I'm facing those issues, and I think the community would be interested in a deep dive of this sort of thing because well, more and more people take an additional monitor, and before we know it, our precious computing ressources fade away into our seconday content viewing. The LTT video about having an Arc gpu as a secondary GPU for streaming also made me wonder about the possibility to have it run video content while the main gpu runs games too. What do you guys think ? I'm curious as to whether or not y'all would be interested to see this sort of benchmarking, cause let's be real, none of us play games or do anything with nothing running in the background.

Hello, I have been using computers for a long time but have never build one myself. I have a good knowledge of computers but a massive lack of knowledge when it comes to brands, prices and furthermore where to shop (I would probably get everything from Amazon and Newegg). Let me add in that I have just moved to the UK from Brazil, and things here are quite different from what I am used to. I am starting my PhD here and I have £1000 to buy a computer, I wish to make the most of it. I have read on this thread that it is preferable to let you guys give me the suggestion of parts rather than posting my own list in here. Can anyone please help me? 1. Budget & Location I am buying from Glasgow (UK) and have a budget of £1000. I think I could extrapolate the budget, but not by much, so maybe £1050 would be the most I could go. 2. Aim The most demanding task of the system will be performing numerical simulations using matlab and mathematica, so a good processor and a good amount of RAM are in order. (I imagined a latest generation i7 with 16 GB of RAM). Also, less demanding, I will use it to write papers and my thesis using LaTeX, as well as browsing scientific journals as part of my research. For this I am aiming for 2 19-24 inch screen monitors. I do not require a lot of storage space, so perhaps a 240GB SSD would be enough for me. I do not require it to run Windows, but I have a Windows 10 license that I could use, so that does not have to be included in the budget. Also, a more office looking case would be good. 3. Monitors 2 4. Peripherals A comfortable keyboard and a wireless mouse. 5. Why are you upgrading? I need a computer for the PhD. Thank you very much in advance!

Hi there. Soooo, I have decided to buy additional monitor and plug it into my gaming rig. Issue is simple, when i set everything i want as i want it, its all fine and cool. But after reboot, everything goes back to original settings, except of resolution. My left hand side monitor is by default a secondary monitor and its pluged into hdmi port in graphics card. The right hand side monitor is by default primary and its pluged into display port to vga adapter as the monitor itself is a crapy 35 pounds (money) amazon warehouse deal, just for being here to play video or websites ect. What i did, i switched the primary and secondary settings in Nvidia controll panel, set all my icons wherever i want them to be and gg. Next thing i know after turning my pc on the next day is that all stuff is moved into the right hand side monitor(the crapy one) where i set it to be on the left hand side. My specs: CPU-AMD FX8350 MOBO-Gigabyte GA-990X RAM-Single DDR3 8GB module (HyperX) 1600mhz GPU-Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 OC 6GB GDDR5 PSU-EVGA Gold 650w It's a budget gaming rig so it is what it is If anyone had similar issue or know how to prevent settings to reset, please give us a shout. I have also ordered a DVI cable just to check if that helps (as dvi is 3rd and 4th port on my GPU, where DP is first and HDMI is second) MAny thanks ;]

I have a problem where when CSGO is in fullscreen mode, and I click on another application on my second monitor, CSGO minimizes. I tried to put the recommended, SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 %command%, into my launch options but CSGO won't run with the command in. I get a error that says it can't find, SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 %command%. Do you guys have any idea what' happening here??? Thanks for the help.

Hi all, Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else? I searched and couldn't find. Issue : App windows rearrange after sleep state. Basically, when my computer wakes up, all my app windows re-arrange themselves on my main display. The biggest issue is that i use multiple desktops for personal and work. It gets super annoying to have to set this up every morning or every time I step away for a few hrs. Attempted Trouble Shooting : - Updated drivers - Deleted PnP Devices and installed proper Monitor Drivers - "Never" sleep option for monitor power configs. - Created multiple power plans. - No sleep, hibernate only (this did not work, reverted to recco'd AMD power plan.) Happening since this morning.I have 2 monitors and the left one is blinking while the right one would sometimes completely lose picture and then get the picture again. On the other hand when i unplug the left monitor everything is fine with the right one working alone. Edit: GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1050 When i plug the right monitor by itself it's fine and doesn't turn off and on or blink, also i had this 2 monitor setup for over a year on this gpu without issue and only now it started.Tho when i plug the left one by itself it blinks and turns off and on.

Hey guys. Once again i come here in need of help. Today my monitor randomly switched to a black screen with a message saying "Input Not Supported" I run a dual monitor setup, where my secondary monitor is hooked up to a hdmi splitter, that mirrors the signal between my TV and the secondary monitor, for movies and stuff. But today it suddenly stopped working, i tried switching out all the hdmi cables, and nothing. I tried doing all the suggestions from the first 3 pages on google, and still nothing works, safe mode nope, even wiped all my drivers and got the newest from nvidia, and i also did a driver rollback with no luck either. I dont know if its windows 10 being a problem, or if its my hdmi splitter thats done, becuase if i run the hdmi directly to the secondary monitor it works fine. What do you guys think? Thank you in advance.

[if this is not in the right forum location, I am very sorry] I was wondering if there would be a way to have 2 monitors for gaming but not have the game be centered on the bezel. I was hoping I could just extend the view to my second monitor and keep my cross hair on the main monitor. If there is a way to do this, that will be highly appreciated. If not I will just but another monitor. I am using a Nvidia GTX 770 by the way.

[build Help] Hello Everyone... I am looking to build a nice powerful PC (speedy) for work in... Photoshop | Illustrator | Lightroom | Autocad | Forex Trading | Web Research (20+ windows open at a time) | Web Design | Movies I often have most of these programs open at the same time. MONITORS: I am going to get at least (1) Dell Ultrasharp 34" Curved Monitor - U3415W... Dell 34 Monitor If my pc build is capable, I will get (2) of these monitors, but I know they require a lot of gpu power at 3440 x 1440 resolution each (6880 x 1440). So if anyone has advice on that it would be most helpful. If not one monitor will do just fine. Also, if you think a particular part is overkill or underkill, please let me know. I appreciate the help! My budget is $4,000-$5,000 (not including monitors). I am seeking advice on which options you would suggest in my parts list or another suggestion if you think it would be a better fit. PC PART LIST CPU (1) Intel Core i7-5960x ($1,049) ...or... (2) Intel Core i7-5930k ($579) ...or... (3) Intel Core i7-5820k ($389) CPU Cooler Corsair H100i ($104) Motherboard Asus X99-Deluxe ATX ? ($311) GPU (1) NVIDIA 980 ($500+ which brand?) ...or... (2) Wait for 980 8GB Release ($?) ...or... (3) NVIDIA K4200 ($775) - The GPU is one that I am not sure about... K4200 is supposedly good for CAD, Photoshop, etc... but I'm not sure how the 980 would stack up. Do I only need (1) of these to run one 3440x1440 monitor? Do I need (2) to run two 3440x1440 monitors? Storage WD Black 3TB ($163) Storage 2 (1) GSKILL Phoenix Blade PCIe SSD 480GB ($680) ...or... (2) Samsung 850 Pro 512GB ($329) Memory (1) GSKILL Ripjaws 4 series DDR4 2133... 15-15-15-35 (8x4=32GB) ($429) ...or... (2) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2133... 13-15-15-28 (8x4 32GB) ($399) - I've been told by a local computer guy that there is going to be no benefit to me in going over 2133mhz... He told me I wouldn't notice any difference, and overclocking would potentially compromise my system. I'm not sure if this is true. Case - Cooler Master Cosmos II Full Tower (Black) ($298) Power Supply - Corsair AX1200i Platinum (overkill?)($288) Optical Drive - LG BH14NS40 ($44) Sound Card - Creative Labs ZXR 24-bit 192KHz Sound Card ($189) LAST QUESTION: What other cooling should I buy for my case? Thanks for the help. I'm new to this, but trying to do my research right. This looks like the best place for answers!

My friend Skyped me and said his other monitor wasn't working. It's recognized by Windows, but the display shows that there is no input.
