I had an issue with backlight a bit back and fell had to send a technician out, upon him checking the bios he said that it was weird and had what looked like very old bios (insydeH20) and that it should have bios that let me use the mouse and make changes. However nothing we tried fixed it. Some stuff we tried was updating bios, replaced mother board (that was over a different issue and the bios did not change), used support assist to check for any issues, called dell support with the tech person still working my laptop. Nothing gave any result as to why their old or don’t allow me to change anything. Will attach a photo of my bios and what they should be.

Hi, I have a dell xps 15 9560, the nvidia graphics driver keeps uninstalling / reinstalling, with BSOD video_driver_error. This especially happens with applications that utilize the GPU, like a game. What I have tired: Done the hardware test by dell. reinstalled windows reinstalled all the drivers, multiple times have used driver easy pro Does anyone know how to fix it or have encountered it? I have gone through all the dell forums and I haven't found an answer.

Hello, I have a question, does the dell xps 15 9560 (1080p 16GB Ran 512GB SSD) support a extra HDD? I'm looking for a ICT Laptop. Dell XPS sound great so far, I only need a little more space. Thanks for reading! Was browsing Reddit and saw this beauty. After getting screwed over by Razer's CS this looks like a very tempting option for me. Can't wait to hear more about this on Monday which seems like the "official" release date. A pretty terrible rollout, the front page of Gigabyte's laptop page already is advertising an Aero 15 giveaway while they still have the countdown two clicks away from it. Anyone else on here have additional details on this?

This laptop has a total of 3 USB ports and currently 2 of them do not work, I suspect they are dead. What are some ways I can try to revive the USB Ports? I am covered by the warranty but currently I cannot afford the down time that an RMA would take. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give me. (I would also like to say sorry again for my last post)

So after reading through angry comments from Blade owners on QC as well as the fact that I can't find one anywhere, decided to choose a different machine. XPS 15 (i7, 16GB, 512GB, 960M) - £1649 New Surface Book (i7, 16GB, 512GB, 965M) - probably £2250 retail, around £2000 after student discount. Will be used as a jack of all trades (web browsing, Movies/TV/Netflix, Gaming at 1080p on BF1, Civ VI and FM2017, Light photo editing). I need it to be quite portable and have a good battery life, which is why I am leaning towards the surface book. I also value the higher build quality and tolerances of the Surface. However, I don't know whether to sacrifice CPU performance for a GPU which is 30% better in BF1. I'm assuming the i7-6567u will be used, does anyone know the specific chip that will be used? Price isn't too much of an issue as I've been saving for a while and need a sturdy laptop to last for at least 3 years. My only concern with the Dell is worse quality control and service than a Microsoft product.

Hey guys, I have an xps 15 (9550) and I love it, but I mostly use it in the dark with the brightness turned to 0% on windows and I also have an external app called windows shades witch turns the screen even dimmer (I set it to 70% - 80%) I also need to use the keyboard sometimes and since I can't see it I am forced to use the keyboard backlighting at 50% (and even though it's the lowest setting, it feels like it's 1000 times brighter than the sun) It also does not help that I sit at the "perfect" angle where the backlight slips trough the gap between the key caps... I know of the dell app witch allows you a little more customizability, but not in the backlight porcentage... So, is there a program that allows me to set it manually to a procent?

Hi everyone, I'm looking into buying an almost new (open box) of a 2016 MacBook pro 15" with touch bar. (256gb config) I can get a really good price on it (still to be confirmed). What would be the maximum you would pay for this MacBook. General opinions. And how much do you think in "windows laptop value" is the MacBook pro 2016 worth. don't hesitate to give really low prices. I'm just curious to know what this forum think of the "true" worth of a 15" MacBook pro.

Hi, I recieved a new Dell XPS 15 a couple of days ago, loaded it up and everything went smooth. Overall its a well built machine. There's a bit of coil whine but it's only audible if I put my ear to the keyboard so it's not a big deal. But there is one glaring issue. The fan. Specifically the right fan. It occasionally makes a clicking-like humming sound, not the usual hum that laptop fans make. I attached a short video of the sound. It's occasionally louder than what's in the video. It's not consistent, sometimes the sound stops entirely and doesn't only happen when the fan is at 100%. I took off the back cover and tried to see if anything was obstructing the fan, but there wasn't anything noticible. I even took the fan out to inspect it and it looks fine. Made sure the screws were in tight when I put it back in. It made the sound even when the back cover was off, I tested for that as well. Any idea what it can be? Or should I just have Dell exchange it for a new one? VID_20171025_132226~2.mp4

I'm trying to find a sleeve for my XPS 15 and i seriously can't find a single one that fits the dimensions of it. WxHxD = 357x17x235 (mm). Would be superb if any1 could find a sleeve for it, preferrably leather or something else a little bit more premium.

Hi Everyone, I recently bought a Dell XPS 15 9560 with a beautiful 4K screen, intel 630 graphics and a GTX 1050 GPU. It's generally working well, though I noticed in MSI Afterburner yesterday that the GTX 1050 seems to be turning on an off at roughly 1 second intervals even when its not being used by any programs according to the NVidia Control Panel. With NVidia Inspector I was able to see that it's only cycling between 0% and 1% load repeatedly, but it just strikes me as odd that it would do so even when I'm only looking at the desktop, where the Intel HD 630 should be doing all the work and the GTX 1050 should be entirely disabled. Is this normal? Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can disable the GPU completely when it's not being used by a program that really needs it? I am not particularly concerned about degrading my hardware since it's only being used a very small amount, but it seems like it might adversely affect my battery life, which is sort of annoying. Any advice or ideas you have would be greatly appreciated .

I am trying to reload windows 10 onto the laptop and after I choose to install with the recommended settings, it starts installing for about 5 minutes but then just the PC restarts. Any clues as to what could be causing this and how to fix it? I am reloading with a Windows 10 Home USB.

Hi all, First off, I appreciate any and all help you might be able to provide... My system, that has been absolutely bullet proof up until last night, basically crapped out after plugging in my Oculus Rift to my HDMI port on my PC and has been unable to boot into Windows and now, unable to even boot into the BIOS. I'm at a loss and have done an extensive amount of googling and combing through forums and still can't figure out what's going on. My current system is as follows: Gigabyte GAZ77-UD5h Wifi i7 3770k (overclocked to 4.4 w/ Hyper Evo 212 cooler) EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 16gb DDR3 Corsair Vengance Memory Corsair TX750 PSU Windows 10 Home 64 I initially was able to get PC to attempt to boot into Windows but then got the error message that "startup repair couldn't repair your pc". Upon reboot I started getting an error code of 62 (could have been b2) which related to the GPU. Assuming the GPU was fried I removed it and used my onboard graphics. This didn't fix the issue and was starting to get hung up on codes of A9, A2, A6, 99, b6, and probably a couple others I didn't write down. Some times I was able to boot into BIOS, sometimes I wasn't. Tried repairing Windows and it would fail every time. I've tested removing all but one stick of ram (even swapped positions & sticks), unplugged all extraneous drives and peripherals, tried booting with no SSD or HDD, cleared CMOS, flashed BIOS, removed CMOS battery... all to no avail. I'm now at the point where each attempt at booting up now only gives me an error code 32 (CPU PCI Initialization) or error code 15 (Pre Memory North Bridge) and continually shuts own before I can even get into the BIOS. Every once in a while I get a different code and can finally get into BIOS but when I try to load defaults and reboot I get the Windows error and have to reboot and get the same 32 or 15 error again. Is my mobo toast? Does this sound like a CPU issue? I'm at a total loss and have reached the limits of my knowledge base and skill level. Thanks again for any help and sorry for the long post. Cheers!

Hi, I recently bought a Dell XPS 15 9550 with 32GB DDR4 memory, i7 6700HQ, and GTX 960. No matter what the task, light or heavy, my screen freezes for a second every so often. If I'm simply scrolling down a page of google it will freeze for a second and then pick up farther down the page. Youtube videos, games, Video Editing, and 3D Modeling (autodesk Maya) all have the same issue. I wasn't expecting an issue like this with such a nice system. Other than this problem, it is working perfectly. Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks, Zach

Hey, I am interested in getting a gpu dock for my xps, but so far I have only seen the Razer Core (which is really expensive), one from alienware (just for alienware laptops) and one from Akitio at 218$ Links: Is the Akitio any good? And are there any other gpu docks that work with the new xps 15? Thanks! Edit: Also, if I have a case and a gpu, can't I use that instead?

Hi people, I'm looking to buy a 15" 1070 laptop and I did some searching on this forum and online and I have came to the final choice of this Asus laptop: https://www.amazon.com/GL502VS-DB71-FullHD-Gaming-i76700HQ-Windows/dp/B01K1INYD0?tag=laptop-magazine-20&SubscriptionId=AKIAIEF7KZG4SSIJ7QQA&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B01K1INYD0&th=1 Does any1 here has one or does it present any issues? I mainly like this one because it is not as heavy as the others. I was looking into the MSI ones but I don't really like that they look like christmas trees... However I am open to other suggestions and I could end up getting a MSI one if it's recommended. For budget I am willing to make an investment. I mainly want it to be 15" and have a 1070 (I don't care about the display quality for gaming since I will use an external monitor). SSD is a must.

Well, after owning (let me count) 6 Razer Blades, this one being my 7th, it's been a love hate relationship with all of them, and I don't seem to have learned my lesson. I've now got fan grinding on my less than one year old Advanced edition, 144hz RTX2070 Razer Blade 15 with 1TB 970 EVO PLUS. It's the fan which is situated underneath the left hand while typing. Not sure if that's GPU or CPU fan. (pretty sure this is the model RZ09-02887E92-R3U1) As you might have assumed I've already opened up the device to swap out the SSD, and I've dismantled some of these devices in the past, so I know how to change a fan... (but Razer won't just sell me the darn part) I have no interest in sending this laptop to Razer, I work full time from home and I can't work without my laptop. So my basic question is do any of you know where the best place to source the specific fan would be? I can't seem to find a part number online, but I can remove the fan and give you the number if needed. (First post in LTT, but been subbed since LTT was basically a teen.) Cheers

First post, but I have enjoyed reading previous posts of people guiding others when getting a new laptop. I hope you can guide me too. I'm considering getting a new laptop since my 3 year old Toshiba Satellite LB50-B-2E7 is disintegrating and now only have a maximum of 30 minutes battery life. I travel a lot which is why I'm looking for a laptop. My intention is to go all in and get a high end laptop that can last the next 3 years with the power to handle a little of everything from virtualization to a little video editing. It's meant for professional use, but I wouldn't mind it if it can handle a few games. After having this Toshiba, build quality have become a priority, since it feels like it's going to break when you pick it up with one hand and the keyboard have left permanent scratches on the screen. I can't stop looking at the XPS 15 9570 but I've heard that it overheats: i9-8950HK-processor 16 GB 2 x 8 GB DDR4-2666 MHz M.2 512 GB 2280 PCIe solid state-drev GTX 1050TI, 4 GB Does anyone think it's worth it to buy a laptop at that price? Are there any other alternatives? Any feedback is much appreciated
