I used to play on 1440p 60hz monitors for well over a decade, it wasn't until last year that I bought a 1440p 144hz (165hz OC) monitor. Personally speaking, I mostly feel the difference when playing games such a League of Legends or games where the FPS goes well above 200+, otherwise... on games where my FPS bounces between 100 - 144, I don't feel as comfortable as when I was locked at 60. I'm aware that upgrading the GPU would fix the issue, so let's skip that part. I've noticed a bunch of people opting for 4k 60hz gaming, (putting the resolution aside) they seem to enjoy 60 FPS. So what's the point of throwing more money in order to enjoy 120+ FPS?

Budget (including currency): € 2000,00 (± 10%) Country: Italy Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming - target 2k 144FPS Other details i would love to have a build that can be upgraded "easily" for the next 6/8 years (maybe with new cpu and gpu). i don't have any preferences about AMD/Intel or AMD/NVidia. Just want performance! Plus (not mandatory): i would have a white-themed PC. PS: I don't need monitor, keyboard and mouse

Budget (including currency): £ (n/a) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My current rig - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jmKwQq I currently game at 1080p/60Hz (because that's all my monitor supports), however, I am looking to upgrade to this Iiyama monitor (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/iiyama-g-master-gb3461wqsu-b1-34-3440x1440-ips-144hz-1ms-hdr-freesync-ultrawide-gaming-monitor-mo-13j-iy.html) in the near future and would like to try an max out games at 144+fps @QHD. An ideal example of a game that I'd like to run as high as possible at 144fps is CDPR's upcoming Cyberpunk2077.

Hello, Curently i have rtx 2070 super graphics and iam using 1080p 75hz monitor. I want to buy 144hz 1080p/1440p monitor. I play League of Legends and CSGO but i play a lot of singleplayer games where i cant hit 144fps. I want to know if gaming under 144fps on 144hz monitor look way less smooth. Iam scared that ill get used to play at 144fps and singleplayer games where i get around 70-90 fps will look way less smooth and laggy. BTW sorry for my bad engllish and thanks for answers.

Thinking of buying a monitor, but I'll have to make a decision.

Hellol, i definitely need help building my new gaming rig. The variety of parts and options is absolutely overwhelming. And to not overwhelm you with text: 1. Budget & Location I have money. But i do NOT want to spent it on something i don't need. So just make sure that my aim is fulfilled and keep the budget as tight as possible. Location: Germany; Currency: € 2. Aim Gaming: AAA-Games (Witcher III, GR Wildlands, Prey, ...) : Minimum-FPS: 60 at medium/HIGH detail @1080p Battlefield 1 Multiplayer: ~120-144fps at minimum-detail @1080p CSGO at minimum 3000000fpms [ ] Hardware: large enough HDD SSD if you really recommend it [never had one, so won't miss it] non expensive OC, if it's worth it Case doesn't really matter, but a red LED Front-Fan or something similar would be nice 3. Monitors I plan on running two monitors. My current 21.5" 1080p as a secondary monitor, and the other, primary, monitor you will suggest me (see point 4). 4. Peripherals I need: 1. one gaming-monitor: 144Hz(+); 24"; 1080p, high color saturation & brightness; good quality; (G-Sync/Freesync, if you really think it's worth it) 2. a mechanical keyboard (just recommend me one if you want. Otherwise I'll search for myself) 5. Why are you upgrading? 7 year old potato wich perishes if it even glimpses at witcher 3 -> Will use it as backup PC

I have tried changing the "iVSyncPresentInterval=1" option from 1 to 0 in my documents, game, Skyrim Special Edition. This doesn't change anything.. I can go from 58 fps to 61.4 fps that is about it. I have tried lowest settings and it makes no difference.

Hey guys so if I have a 144hz monitor and im playing a game and my frames go from 60 to 80 is it better to cap my fps at something I will always be above or should I let my fps go higher. I notice that at lower fps there is a considerable amount of input lag and the game does not look as smooth. I was thinking that capping it would me consistent frame times but i dont really know what would look better and feel the best.

Hi, I want to upgrade my PC because I want to play some games at 4k but mainly to play FPS games at 1440p 144fps, stream, photo and video editing! Just let me know if you change some parts or if you have any kind of suggestion. Thanks

I already have a Ryzen 5 2600 and was wondering if getting the RX 5700 would be a good combo to go with it or if I should get a cheaper graphics card to pair with the Ryzen 5 2600? If so what would be your suggestions? I'm trying to get 144 FPS on 1080p for most games and always above 60 FPS on the new AAA titles.

So I am soon going to be building a new system to game on a 1440p monitor at 144fps. I just want to confirm that this pc will be able to handle that kind of load and that there isn't anything wrong with the PC that I can't see. Please let me know if there is anything that you think that I should change (as long as it doesn't cost too much more, my budget is $2k). Also keep in mind that some of these parts are chosen for aesthetic purposes, and although they might be overkill they make the system look how I want. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 Motherboard: Asus Prime X570-PRO RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8GB 3200MHz Storage: 4TB Samsung 860 QVO SSD GPU: MSI Gaming Z RTX 2070 Case: NZXT H510 elite PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G1+ 650W 80+ Gold Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU

Hi, i just bought a MSI 2080 ti gaming X trio, and after setting all up for it, overclocking my 1440p monitor at 160Hz, making it detect by the OS and the NVidia control panel and everything...when i fire up BF1, Destiny 2, BF4, FarCry 4 and 5 (those are the titles I tested) the FPS counter never crosses 50 or so, staying always around 35 and 40, with all the above listed games. I have already tried all the different settings in every game, i turned on and off G-sync, both in the display itself and the software, i scaled resolution, i removed FPS caps, and even reinstalled some games...but nothing. I have to say that i have a FX-8320E as CPU, and i know it's a bit old, but it's overclocked at 4GHz without problems and while in game never gets used more than 80%, so i think it can't be the bottleneck...i don't know a ton about the work that te motherboard (is a M5A97 EVO R2.0 by ASUS) is supposed to do in order to feed with data the GPU, may that be the problem, cause the motherboard is 5 years old like the CPU too! There is one more thing to add, i still have windows 7...and i know, before someone criticise me that i had to upgrade all the pc and not only investing 1400$ on the GPU, but that has sense to me because the whole machine will get and upgrade in some months, and i really needed a new GPU cause i'm working with tensorflow and the 2080 ti was really appealing to me cause of it's tensorcores...those are the only things right now which seems to work fine, since the GPU is eating data perfectly...but still i can't game in my spear time! If you need more data let me know! HELP PLEAS...i'm getting mad looking at 30FPS in "2K"!

Need help with a gaming of build Okay so I’m in Australia and it’s so annoying trying to build a mid range gaming pc without breaking the bank so I decided to go prebuilt (because it’s cheaper with shipping and that kinda thing) and I’ve found this website aftershockpc.com.au and I’ve made a build.I wanted to know how well my setup would do at high settings 1080p gaming fps wise, the games I would play are r6s, cs go,cod, apex legends, which I want to hit 144fps and other games like forza, resident evil 7, I want to know if I could hit a min 60fps in high settings and last thing I wan to know if this is a good build for vr. I know I’m asking a lot for this pc but it costs a lot of money. Pc parts Case: Bolt premium full steel chassis | zero mount tempered glass design-Slate black Motherboard: Amd ASUS tuf b450m plus gaming (4 ram slots) Cpu: Amd Ryzen 5 3600 | 4.2 ghz | 6 cores 12 threads Graphics card: Zotac GeForce gtx 1660 super 6gb gddr6 Ram: 16gb ddr4 2666 mhz klevv perf (2x8gb | dual channel) I would make a pc part picker list but I don’t know all the details to do that Anyway Thanks in advance Guys?

I am starting a build for my younger brother, who wants to get into pc gaming instead if just using my pc. He has a budget of roughly £600 and just wants to play 3 games at 144fps Fortnite- mainly high settings, epic view distance, no shadows Csgo Rocket league 1080p 144hz monitor. Is it possible to get that many frames at this budget??

Hello everybody, My problem is that i thought about upgrading my GPU as my GTX 1060 6Gig is not really capable of 144 FPS in Battlefield and other Games in Full HD. But i dont know if its just the GPU or also something else? My Rig: -i7 6700k @4,6GHz -GTX 1060 6Gig -16GB DDR3 Ram -Gigabyte Z170 HD3 DDR3 Motherboard -144Hz Full HD Panel I run Battlefield V on medium to low Settings and i only get like 70 to 80 FPS, i dont know if thats any good but HWMonitor said that while playing the GPU runs at arround 75%. My overclocked i7 is at arround 70-90% on every Thread / Core. Temperatures are all good and always lower than 70 C° on both CPU and GPU and Ram is also not full. I thought about buying a RX 5700 XT to get 144 Fps but now im a bit stuck in thinking if this really helps me and fixes my problem because as it seems, the GTX 1060 doesnt even run on 100% while playing. Any Ideas or Recommendations are welcome :) thx

Hey Everybody, I'm having trouble with my new build. After initially setting up the computer, I was able to play doom and overwatch at a consistant 144 fps with no dips at all. Butter smooth. Temperatures and load percentages were at great levels. At the end of the day, I remembered I forgot to update windows. So I had windows check for all of the OS updates, had them apply, and went to bed. The next morning, excited to play on my new build again, I'm seeing that I'm not getting the same performance I was before. My frame rates are not consistent at all and are never reaching a consistent 144 fps. Unable to figure out what caused this change in behavior. Temperatures of CPU and GPU are still fine and the load of the GPU only gets to around 50-70%. Here are the specifications of my build. CPU: Intel i7 8700k (not overclocked right now) GPU: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 A8G RAM: 8GB 3000MHz Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z370-E Power Supply: EVGA Supernova G3 750W CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X52 Monitor: Asus MG248Q OS: Windows 10 Home Edition 64 bit Things I have tried: 1. Ensure nvidia Control Panel has monitor set to 1080p at 144hz 2. Ensure Windows has the Monitor Settings Screen refresh rate at 144 Hertz 3. Reinstalled Nvidia Drivers. 4. Edited Game Setting to Enable/Disable Vsync and Enable/Disable Anti-Aliasing. Tried multiple combinations of these settings, this will either lock the fps at 60 or give inconsistent frame rate. 5. Also Tried to Use GeForce Experience Game Optimization with no luck on getting steady fps. Note: I am using Steam's FPS counter to determine fps or Overwatch's FPS Counter. Any help is very appreciated. I'm just trying to get the best performance out of my new build. Thanks Everyone!

Hello I have this Setup: GTX 1080 G1 Gaming i7-6700 3.40Ghz 8GB 2400Mhz Sometimes I get bellow 144fps and that really grinds my gears. I mean I play at 1080p, everything on Low and some on OFF but Textures that are set to High, since it doesn't matter to me how it looks. My GPU usage is like 30-40% and I watch some times my fps drop bellow 144. Now I have capped them with RivaTuner at 144fps but it's a GTX 1080 ffs it should get 300 with low presets and like minimum something like 200 or 170fps. Any ideas?

Hi all, I have a 144Hz monitor, but have decided to set it to 120Hz in the NVCP to remove a flickering issue. Trouble is, games still run at 144fps even with Vsync enabled. I know some games allow you to specify the refresh rate, but a lot don't. Should vsync not lock the games to 120fps if the monitor is set to this? Any thoughts would be great! (I'd like to avoid software such as RivaTuner). Thanks in advance!

So on Killing Floor 2 there is a option called bUseTextureStreaming i notice more consistent fps around 134-140 and also better looking textures when it is set to False but i did notice my memory usage was around 50-60% so is it safe to disable this or should i keep it on default as true Note: my load times are exactly the same PSU: Cooler Master 750V CPU i7 4790k GPU MSI GTX 980 MOBO H97 SSD 250gb no brand Ram 8gb idk brand Case Antec 1100V2

So, the thing is, I have a lenovo Y50 laptop with a dedicated GeForce 960M graphics card, I connected the monitor to the laptop using an HDMI cable. The monitor is ASUS VG278HE. Can I get a higher fps, more than 60Hz? what type of connection I need? is it even possible? Thanks!
