My screen had become dim and black after I spilled some small amount of water on the keyboard. The laptop (HP) is like 8 years old and is operating on windows 7. When the water fell on the keyboard, I panicked and removed the keyboard from the laptop immediately. I then dried of the water from the keyboard and placed it back into the laptop. When I was connecting the keyboard to the laptop, the screen blinked two times and went black. I started to worry whether will the laptop work or not. I restarted the laptop but it was black still and I became a lot worried. I then noticed something on the screen and it was the HP logo which was very dim. I felt relieved but the screen was dim which I was not happy about. I started the windows normally and waited for the windows to load everything. Good news - The laptop works Bad news - It's way to dim and I can't see anything so I just can put on the torch to see where I was going. Another bad news - I am in lock down and I can't get out of the house and give this laptop for repairing. So please, I really need your help. I want your help to fix this laptop and it needs to be done very soon. I want to at least be able to use this laptop until the lock down is over and that I can buy a new one.

So i recently bought a new MOBO, CPU and Ram, when i put everything together and loaded up my windows 7 installation disc, i noticed that it would restart the PC a couple seconds into the normal windows 7 loading screen, and would repeat this over and over again. I have extensively searched and tested methods however none seem to work.. Methods I've tried to fix this: Safe mode Safe mode with network Removing ram so there is only one stick Changing the sata cables connected to my SSD and sata ports on the MOBO Testing with a HDD Resetting BIOS And a couple others ive forgotten, please let me know, i cant use any programs obviously as its got no OS on it(sort of the issue) Thanks!

Basically: Should I use an update tool which is designed for windows 7 but is running on windows 10 in compatibility mode to update my bios. Explanation: So the problem is my ddr3 memory is currently running at 800mhz. I've go into my bios to try and change the speed and the only options are 800mhz or Auto and both yield the same results. There is a jumper on the board labelled 133mhz mem oc and I have tried to use this but moving it's position to the other pins upsets the motherboard and sends out an memory error bios code even though the memory i'm trying to use is 133mhz rated. My bios isn't the latest version though and I believe updating may solve my problem however, the tool used to update it "Fox Live Update" is designed to be used for up to windows 7 and to get it to show any correct information about my system I had to install it using the windows compatibility tool. My over arching question about this issue is do I A:Use this tool in compatibility mode which may have unknown consequences or do I use the very old hard drive running windows XP which is also supported by the tool? Any insight would be really appreciated Details About the System are in the text file System Info.txt

Okay so I have a laptop (toshiba satellite P755-S5382) that has some pretty good on board speakers with one glaring issue. That is that even though they can rock the lower frequencies rather comfortably without any noticeable distortion via. a line in. But when actually listening to any audio coming from windows itself their seems to be some kind of software that makes it to where the frequencies that it plays are on a curve. To put it simply, it's like the computer is handicapping itself by not allowing full utilization of the range of the speakers, imagine if somebody took an EQ and turned down the lower frequencies, that's how it's acting. Now to go through the canned responses, yes I have gone through and disabled all the sound modifiers in windows and in the Realtek audio drivers and to no avail. But there is one way I was hoping I could go about it. You see, through the line in/mic the limit on the lower frequencies is not present, and the limit is also not present on the headphone jack. So what I was wondering is if I could take the system audio and pipe it through the headphone jack which would then go to the line in where the audio from the line in would then be played through the speakers. So basically what I am asking is, can I make it to where my system audio plays through one output while my onboard speakers play from a line in?

Had my PC for about 4 years it's getting a bit slow takes a while to load up, and does weird things like when i alt tab from overwatch my PC pretty much dies (only started doing that about a month go) and can't do anything without a massive delay. I talked to Microsoft and blizzard about it and they both said there was alot of error problems with my windows and other stuff that they couldn't fix and i'd need to wipe my PC. I'v put everything i want onto an external hard drive hopefully this is fix a few things or at least help. Should i restore of factory reset, thanks!

as the title states , AMD , unlike Intel w/ kabylake , is officially supporting windows 7 and will release drivers for it source is german (as it appears to be w/ amd "leaks") https://www.computerbase.de/2017-02/amd-ryzen-am4-treiber-windows-7/ "AMD will also provide drivers for Microsoft Windows 7 for Ryzen and all chipsets for the AM4 socket. This was announced by the manufacturer as part of an information event on the platform. Intel officially supports Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 with Kaby Lake under Microsoft's operating systems." ** on the topic of Hvec 265 , this is handled by the gpu according to the article and not on the cpu "That Ryzen can accelerate video, in turn, is unlikely. As a rule, the video processor is integrated in the graphics unit. Desktop PCs based on Ryzen always need an external graphics card and its video unit will probably decide which formats can be accelerated in hardware." ** ** no guarantee on the accuracy of these translations as i used google translate and gave it a quick proofread , im no linguist

So, I got given a PC second hand by someone I know that goes to my local church. He installed Windows 7 on it for me. However, I'm having an issue with it. It keeps telling me that I need to activate it and that it's not a genuine copy of Windows 7. I can't activate it online because of this error "No records found for given DNS query." Whatever that's supposed to mean. I asked one of my internet friends what I should do, and he said to download either Windows Toolkit or KMSpico to activate it. The thing is, I don't wanna risk downloading either of them and give my new PC a virus. Another thing that's confused me is that the product key that can be displayed on my PC is a 20 digit code, but it looks like if you want to re-enter or type in another product key, it's gotta be a 25 digit code. What should I do?

Here's my system specs. Windows 7-64 BIT Intel i5 3550 @ 3.3 Ghz ( NO OC ) ASUS P8Z77-M Sapphire R9-Fury Nitro ( NO OC ) Corsair Vengeance 16GB @ 1333mhz ( NO OC ) W.D Blues 1TB X2 ( STEAM / Games / Other Programs and Software ) Transcend SSD370 128GB ( OS, Google Chrome etc nothing else ) So for some weird reason, today all sudden my PC started to BSOD and I can't even see the BSOD, my PC will just freeze black screen and restart itself, I only know it's BSOD because Windows informed me when the PC restarted. The only thing I did before this happen was Defragging my two Hard Drives, I have an SSD for OS Boot Up and I used Auslogics and I been using for Years and it was fine. Nope didn't had any update with it or anything either. ( And no of course I didn't defrag my SSD ) So when it first occurred was when I was watching a video on Facebook, all sudden BSOD. At first I thought could it be my GPU Driver causing it, so I've updated it to the latest AMD ReLive 17.3.1 and no go, was just playing Wticher 3 and it BSOD on me again. ( And as usual I did a clean uninstall and update, using DDU etc blah blah blah ) I check online alot suggesting could be a dying hard drive or something or maybe RAM faulty. So I used Crystal Mark Disk Info to check all my Drives are healthy. Same for my SSD. I even did the most basic by doing a System File Check via cmd. The only thing I didn't test was using MemTest86, not yet. What do you guys think it's causing the problem ?? Could it be a dying hardware ?? I do have plans on upgrading to RyZen but not so soon, and it's so sudden... Here's the crash report I obtained using WhoCrashed. On Thu 09-Mar-17 14:33:05 GMT your computer crashed crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\030917-5350-01.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x74080) Bugcheck code: 0x1A (0x41284, 0x1155001, 0x0, 0xFFFFF70001080000) Error: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System company: Microsoft Corporation description: NT Kernel & System Bug check description: This indicates that a severe memory management error occurred. Hi people of the internet, I have just currently purchased my first SSD - currently, my computer build only has 1 HDD and this has everything sat on it. My ideal scenario is to install Windows 7 onto this SSD, then remove the current partition off the HDD but still keep all my other data such as my games, documents etc etc I was wondering if there is any way to create this ideal scenario and if anyone can offer any advice or guidance, it would be most welcome!

Sup folks, I've been having this issue for quite awhile now, I still don't know how to fix it. My PC says there are updates that need to be installed, which is true, but when it reboots to install said updates, it's stuck at "preparing Windows configuration", then abruptly shuts off and reboots normally, without installing any updates. The Windows update windows keeps popping up saying that I need to install important updates and that the pc will restart in 15 minutes (which for now I have resorted to opening cmd and stopping Windows Update manually by "net stop wuauserv") Operating system: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64 bit Hope someone knows how to fix this issue. Thanks in advance, Regards, TJ

Hi everyone ive been playing with my first SLI setup recently testing it on a friends 4k monitor and ive been having a few issues but thats in a different post. whilst ive been pouring over internet forums trying to come up with a solution i noticed this in my dxdiag in windows 7: My GTX 1080 is only recognised as having 4095mb by direct x this is in windows 7 with all the updates, the latest driver (plus an attempt to resolve by doing a driver rollback) and the latest motherboard bios as a just in case. interestingly i don't not get this problem in windows 10 but im having other problems in SLI with this that i wont go into now. im noticing quite a difference in frame rate in windows 10 with all the same drivers with direct x11 games and can only put it down to this right now. does anyone know of a fix for this?

I am running windows 10 for an year and a half now, and i am facing problems with it from a month. I use my PC mostly for downloads, browsing, editing, rendering and a bit of gaming, but sometimes when my pc is idle (only utorrent running) it starts laging and then if i want to open any file or folder it gets stuck and that too for countless minutes. The only way i could get out of this infinite hang-loop is to force shutdown my pc. I know its not the best way to deal with it, but what would you do if you have work to be done and your pc has already been stuck on the "End Process" dialogue box for an hour(yeah it has happened more than twice). Anyone who can figure whats the problem?

A few months ago I created a portable Linux(ubuntu 14.4 lts). uses it many times. but yesterday I faced a strange problem. suddenly my portable Linux crashed and after then an error message showing Operating system not found press Ctrl+alt+del to restart somehow I manage to fix this issue(from the internet, they said it is happening because MBR gets corrupted. I have no idea ) now, after fixing this MBR issue, I'm facing another problem, that is now another error message showing Boot MGR is missing 1.i don't have any system repair disk. 2.i have 2 os(win7 and 10) on the same hard drive. 3.automatick repair not able to fix my problems.and none of the cmd commands working. is there any solution without formatting my hard drive? can't I just copy a boot record from another computer and paster into my computer?

Hello, I am on windows 7 pro and I am looking for quick ways to unlock my computer without typing in a password but while keeping it secure still. I have thought about using a flash drive or something of that nature but it doesn't really appeal to me. I'm looking for either a piece of hardware or software that will allow me to unlock and lock my computer weather it be by voice or simply by leaving the area. Any suggestions are welcome!

Hi guys! It's my first time here, I'm French and I don't have a lot of skills in English and in hardware, I just know the basic. ? So recently, I bought an acer aspire vx15 on rue du commerce ( https://m.rueducommerce.fr/produit/acer-aspire-vx-15-vx5-591g-558z-noir-29072208#moid:MO-2428AM70609592 ) with Linux installed into it ( not gnu Linux, not ubuntu... just Linux.) I installed windows 7 because my oncle is an computer scientist and he give it to me.? As you probably see, my new computer doesn't have USB 2.0 port , only USB 3.0 x3 and a type c connector but they bolth not working in win 7. I used a software which changes the ISO files for integrate usb 3 drivers and it works for the installation, but now I have my computer with win7, 4usb port which doesn't work and no wireless connection ( my wireless card need drivers for function .) I don't know what to do, please help me?? Thanks!!

I had to re-install windows 7 (he doesn't want to upgrade to 10) on a friends machine, the issue now is that after I installed the driver for his GTX 470 (i got the latest from nvidia's site) the system blue screened and now everytime it tries to boot windows it just keeps bluescreening. Ive tried clearing the CMOS and re-installing windows and other solutions I found on the Geforce forms but nothing seems to work. He dosent want to upgrade the GPU since it was working before I reinstalled windows and he dosent want to spend money on it, not even on a GTX 1050.

I am currently on windows 10 and have a bootable usb for a windows 7 install. When I boot off of the usb I go through the installation process and get to the partition and formatting of my hard drive. I can see my primary hard drive that already has windows 10 installed on it, it does not make me format the hard drive and acts as if I can install windows 7 to it without formatting it. Will this cause any problems or am I safe to not format the hard drive? Also, will I retain my drivers?
