Recently I build my first gaming/school PC and a friend of mine helped me install windows. Because I was curious I Googled why my Programm Files have x86 and not x64. Realizing x64 "is for old PCs" I quickly checked and now I'm left in confusion. Why is it saying two different things and is it bad that I downloaded some apps as x86 ? (Picture describes situation)

Setup: Ryzen 2700X (stock Prism cooler) Asus X470-F Gaming on newest BIOS 2x(16GB (2x 8192MB) G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16-18-18-38 Dual Kit) running at D.O.C.P. speeds Palit RTX 3070 version 1 750 Watt EVGA SuperNOVA G3 Modular 80+ Gold LG C10 connected via HDMI to the GPU BenQ 1080p 120Hz LG G900 mouse LogiTech Stream cam Firefox using the AMD Ryzen Balanced Power Plan Hi Everyone! I upgraded from a 1080p monitor to the C10, from a 1080 to the 3070 and from 16 GB to 32 GB a few months back. Somewhere around that time (apart from initial RAM issues, which happened immediatly) the problems started. Since then i have experienced freezes (with the iconic sound problems) that don't resolve to a bluescreen and thus don't produce crash reports (i think?), bluescreens and back to desktopcrashes specifically in Dota 2 (was always rock solid) and Star Citizen (a mess and crashes could be coincidental) without any error messages. I have been trying to analyze the bluescreen files using WinDbg, but i'm a little out of my depth there. From what i can tell it attributes the crashes to the modules: - nt (x1) - amdppm (x2) - hardware (x1) - nvlddmkm (x1) It also starts each debugging log with: *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for win32k.sys These are just the results from the clean install on the new drive, so i don't know what the other errors were, but from my recollection it mostly said amdppm.sys on the bluescreen. Such diverse errors would have led me to believe that it's a memory problem, but memtest says it's fine and i don't know how else to test for errors. "Unable to verify timestamp" leads me to speculate that the MB clock is bad (battery low?) but for all i know that could be a normal warning for a bluescreen crashdump. To troubleshoot i did (roughly in chronological order): - ran bootable memtest 86 for all tests, dialled in the RAM speed at DOCP timings but 2866 MT (earliest speed without any errors on all 4 passes) -> greatly increased stability, did this directly after installing the second RAM kit, thought the memory controller on my CPU just couldn't handle the same speed on 4 modules vs 2 - updated all drivers/windows updates -> no change - changed Dota 2 renderer in an attempt to stop the btd crashes -> no change - ran sfc -scannow (it repaired LG drivers and something with onedrive) -> no change - ran chkdsk -> no errors - reset windows to earlier image using the built in function -> no change - disconnected the second display and replaced the HDMI cable (first cable sometimes showed intermittent picture loss/artifacts) -> no change but no more artifacting/picture loss - reinstalled windows on a different drive, removed (almost, windows apparently put the bootloader on my second m.2 and neither of my m.2s was previously part of the install) all other drives -> no change (didn't install the LG drivers this time, never connected the webcam) - used ryzen master to turn off precision boost overdrive -> no change - updated BIOS from factory version from 2018 to most recent and ran bootable memtest 86 for all tests, dialled in the RAM speed at DOCP timings and speed, 0 Errors 4 passes -> bios update improved RAM stability, but didn't fix the problem - ran sfc -scannow (it repaired onedrive again) The problem (bluescreen and freezes) happens most often when running a game and starting/stopping video playback in firefox, but i didn't collect rigorous data on that, so that might just be a false correlation. I can't reproduce the problem by running stresstests (furmark + ycruncher) and at this point i don't even know where the problem could be. I already sold my 1080 and i don't have a different AM4 chip, so i can't test by swapping hardware. These problems are generally hard to predict, sometimes they don't happen for multiple days, sometimes multiple times per hour. If You have a concrete idea what the problem could be that would obviously be great! Otherwise clearing up a few questions would probably go a long way towards helping me narrow down my search for a solution: - Could the RAM be unstable, even though memtest86 says it's completely fine? - Is it possible for the graphicscard to cause failures in the nt/amdppm/hardware modules? (aka can i rule the graphicscard and display out?) - Could my secondary M.2 drive that apparently hosts the bootloader be the problem or can i rule storage out? - Would it be worth it to switch out the MB battery or am i on the wrong track there? I don't know which files to make available, i obviously have some crashdumps, but i don't know if they would help/if i should censor something about them, so tell me if You think any specific file would help with diagnosing the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank You!

Ok, so I was thinking about buying some more hard drives. Now I know I sound crazy for wanting a bunch of hard drives, but I think with the money it could be a good idea. So if I bought a 200gb ssd nvme m.2 hard drive for only windows 10, then bought another ssd nvme m.2 but with 1tb for video games. Would separating the things in my pc like this improve performance? Currently I have a hdd hard drive with 2tb for only videos, pictures, and of course minecraft mods. I also have a 1tb hard drive that I'm currently using for my video games and windows 10. If I reinstalled windows onto the 200gb ssd, reinstalled my video games on a 1tb ssd, and used the previous 1th hdd for just vr games; would separating everything improve performance? I do think doing this would definitely give my data a less of a chance for corrupting and losing everything. In the future I may even get another hdd or ssd for Linux. (btw I have 6 sata ports on my motherboard.) Could this possibly even slow down the pc since it's searching through multiple hard drives constantly?

powertoys by microsoft comes with a lot of useful features like resizing in explorer, better multitasking view (or however that's called),search bar like on macos etc. but why didn't they include it in windows 11. Since it came out after windows 10 it's understandable that they didn't really include it in win10 but now that win11 is here, they could've included powertoys into it. It's kinda like microsoft doesn't want users to customize their pc even more or/and add more features

I tried to create a bootable USB Linux mint installation medium via balena etcher, but I got an error message claiming it was missing its partition table. my first research concluded that that wouldn’t be a Problem but when I then tried to boot of of it, the boot selector didn´t find my USB stick. the verification and validation process were successful. I´m confused now as to what I did wrong. Here are the tutori als I followed: https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/verify.html#authenticity-check https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=291093 I´m using currently a 15 inch razer blade advance (2020).

Built my pc today and installed Windows 10 through an external hard drive to m2 drive. My power went out while the download was going on and now when my PC turns on, no display comes up, but peripherals (mice mouse and keyboard), motherboard leds and fans turn on. My computer is connected through a surge protector and my old pc had the power go out on it all the time and was fine, so I assume it’s an issue with the ssd itself. Do I need to try installing on a different drive and and wiping the old one? Help would be greatly appreciated!

New boot manager entry created every time I start up my pc
yelifiv posted a topic in Troubleshooting
This started happening after I installed Pop OS! alongside Windows 10 dual boot and using gnu grub bootloader Every time I boot up my PC a new boot entry is added to my boot manager inside my bios. All the entries are exaclty the same have the following name : UEFI: SAMSUNG MZHPU512HCGL-00000, Partition 7 I already tried removing all of them with bcdedit /delete on my windows os but they keep reappearing. Does anyone know how to fix this or what might be causing it, it's annoying and I'm scared if they pile up it might cause errors. -
Apps start freeze one by one. No BSOD, no suspicious error messages in windows event log. Occurs both during load (games) and just on desktop. One app freezes, and when you try to click anything else that still works - it freezes aswell, including windows task bar. Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing. Mouse cursor keeps working even after everything on the screen froze. Already tried: 1) Disabling C-states 2) Updating BIOSes (for MB updating from F21 to F22 did "fix" the issue for several days) 3) Checking all drives for errors (using chkdsk) 4) Checking windows installation for errors (using scannow) 5) Checking RAM for errors (using Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and MemTest) Hardware: In profile info. Boot Drive: that Samsung 980 Pro in M.2 connected to CPU. MB BIOS: F22 GPU BIOS: 90.04.76.00.D5 (previously it was 90.04.76.00.D4, did update it right before making this post) Windows:

So I made a fresh build and the components consist of: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT, RTX 3070 EVGA, 16gb ram corsair vengeance pro 3200 Mghz, x570 Aorus elite pro motherboard, 750 watt corsair psu gold rated, 1tb ssd Samsung EVO 860 4tb Seagate hdd. I think thats it and my old pc was a pre-built from BestBuy. It had a i5-9600F, 8gb ram(single stick), gtx 1660, 500 watt, 1224 tb(total storage). So I need to upgrade because I was having issues with my first pc(old pc)and I wanted to take gaming to the next level(pro skill level). So I upgraded and made a fresh build. But the issue here is that when I was done building my new pc. I didn't sign out out of nothing on my old pc. I just kept everything there in terms of data/files/app data. And my brother that helped me build my new PC told me to unplug the the hdmi cable coming from my old pc to my monitor. He didn't specify which cable to unplug at the time. So me being an idiot unplugged the Power supply cable while my old pc was on. He immediately yelled at me and told me to turn on my old pc to check if everything was working fine and everything looked fine. And it was so I was beginning to setup my new pc. I downloaded windows 10 to a USB stick and bought an activation key from a cheap website. After setting up my new PC; I immediately downloaded my games to start gaming again. When I downloaded my first game I wanted to check the graphics and the frame rate. But the second I went into a match in game. I noticed a difference in my mouse sensitivity. My mouse felt slower than usual. I didn't understand why my mouse was behaving this way. Keep in mind I had my mouse software installed as well and I configured it to my liking. I had the same dpi as my old pc and I was so confused. I looked up some fixes and similar issues as mine on Google. And it told me to reinstall mouse drivers, reinstall windows, I downloaded third party programs to optimize my hardware. I thought of every possible solution to fix my mouse. I even went into settings and turn off enhanced pointer option(It was on by default). I thought maybe it was monitor and monitor is working fine no issue, no lag, no nothing. I thought it was input lag but my mouse is at 4.17ms for input lag. It was the same before building my new pc. So it's not my monitor, it's not my mouse. I also tried using a different mouse and a different USB port but it was the same result. I also noticed that my mouse threshold values in registry edit were different. They were set to 6 and 10. Before they were 0 and 0. I dont know if that has anything to do with my problem. This problem has started when I built my new pc. My mouse sensitivity was fine before upgrading. I also noticed that my old pc has the same issue for some reason. And at this point I don't know whats going on. But I hope anyone that has my problem has a permanent fix for this. I'm in desperate need of help.

Hello. I downloaded Roblox on my NZXT BLD Kit PC and it was working for a while as it should. I haven’t had this PC very long (30th of December), and I could play Roblox for a while. All of a sudden one day my PC couldn’t play Roblox and every time it did it would completely reboot my PC. So I waited like two weeks then 2 days ago I got fed up and contacted Roblox support. We exchanged emails and they gave me some tips that did not work until this morning. They told me to go back to before you started having the problem. I did and now I am stuck in a Blue screen loop. Everything I try doesn’t work and it keeps giving me the error code: 0xc0000001 I am quite new to this and really need someone’s help! I tried contacting NZXT support but they are closed so I contacted the emergency line and they just said to get back to them? And windows support doesn’t help and Roblox won’t email me back. I am so confused and really need someone’s help.

I installed a new Windows 10 installation on my HDD over the older one as that one was corrupted and was causing issues with certain apps. After the installation, the whole windows was laggy even on basic tasks. I used to get stable 60+ fps on ultra settings on God of War, now it stutters a lot and fps drops below 10. I checked performance and saw that CPU and GPU usages are below I updated the whole windows, waited for it to install new drivers. Still it is laggy and i am not sure what to do. in the task manager i see System , windows module installer worker, COM Surrogate, USO core worker services using disk 100 percent.

I have had this problem since I installed Windows 10 about 2 years ago (new custom PC), but the problem was occuring very rarely until some days ago. I have tried Windows reset, clean install of drivers of audio and video card with no luck. I noticed it is happening every 7 minutes (after updating: December 14, 2021—KB5008212), I also took a look if there was a spike in CPU usage and I saw after every freeze that 3 processes of Windows were running and by the time it was back to normal these processes were back at 0% usage. Process 1. StorSvc Process 2. DoSvc Process 2. EventLog Upon further searching, I came to the conclusion that these were actually logging the errors, and I noticed that because I ran out of space in just 2 days (after installing the update I mentioned). Almost 60 GB of log files were created in about 2 days. Also, I have multiple audio devices: the audio freeze happens on all of them so that excludes a specific device. The audio freeze is always happening the same time as the video freeze—it's not a big freeze, about a second or less, but it could happen 4-5 times in the 7th minute. Some info that maybe helps: Windows 10 Pro, 21H2. OS Build: 19044.1415 Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0 As far as I know this has something to do with the Microsoft store (or an app from the store).I have tried everything I could find about troubleshooting the Microsoft store but I had no luck. So,what are you guys thinking? *I am attaching the log file(xml format) from the event log. UPDATE: here is the link of the file if the attached one isnt working LOG.xml

Hi all, I am hoping some one can help me I am getting really sick of these crashes given it's a nice headset when it's not crashing my PC I was hoping someone can help me fix the problem. G hub is upto date and the firmware of the headset is upto date. I have tried reinstalling g hub and the headset driver multiple times. I see over the years that people have had the same issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/LogitechG/comments/q9b7gq/logitech_g_prox_headset_hid_crash/ https://www.reddit.com/r/LogitechG/comments/khrkwv/g_pro_x_causing_random_windows_crashrestart/ https://www.reddit.com/r/LogitechG/comments/dg1hi8/logitect_pro_x_headset_crashing_windows_10/ https://www.reddit.com/r/LogitechG/comments/lmf4zc/logitech_g_pro_x_crashing_pc/ https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/mtavd8/pro_x_headset_driver_crashing_my_pc_when_playing Thanks in advance.

On 31st of December i found my my nicehash made no money and my internet wasn't working. i stopped the mining and got to my work, 10 mins after stopping i had my internet back working. I thought it was a coincidence. But throughout the day i found out that 5 mins into mining, my internet stops working. I am on wired connection and my wifi still provides internet, it is just my PC that loses internet. I tried using PIA thinking it might be some kind of geoblocking that Indian govt might be implementing without any legal procedure (happens), but my internet still crashed. Asus RT-AC 1200 is my wifi router, in case that matters.

Browser, version and OS: Modded Windows 10 Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? Not sure What happened? I received a computer with windows 10 installed, but the computer doesn't support windows 10. It was modified for this system since Windows 10 was never meant for this computer. It is the Aurora R3. It has been acting glitchy after a couple of weeks and eventually it shuts down when doing light things such as browsing the web. I just need a windows 7 system clean backup to install on my computer to go back so the shutdowns don't occur again. Screenshots of the issue, if applicable: I don't have any Any other relevant details: Screen starts to flicker and my mouse cursor stops moving. If anyone has a clean windows 7 system backup I can use to help restore my computer, not sure how to uninstall the windows 10 from this computer. p.s made this account for some help for this reason

So, i decided to finally switch to POP OS with my Acer Nitro 5 after watching LTT switched to Linux videos. I just YOLO'd it and purchased a brand new m.2 drive and installed the os on it instead of using my old drive. Long story short, I was wondering if it is possible to simply put my original drive into an external enclosure and boot from it without doing any prep work?

Hey guys so recently I had my pc blue screen and it made me have to do a clean installation of windows. For some reason after this I cannot change my time zone. It is permanently stuck to pacific time, making my time off from my actual time zone. I've gone into date and time in the additional time settings, but it keeps prompting me with a pop up that says I don't have permission to change this even though I am the administrator for the computer. How do I fix this?

I've never used a Linux OS but it sounds like its superior to Windows for performance and customizability. Here's my initial questions: -Can I do everything I would do on a Windows OS on a Linux OS. -Can I run any windows program on a Linux? (Wine?) -How steep of a learning curve is it? Is it coders only difficulty? Or can any semi-intelligent computer geek learn it quickly? - What are the major pro's and con's What I use my PC for? -Video and photo editing -Gaming -Web browsing -Crypto mining (sometimes) -General work

Hey, guys. We have some older systems at work that run some of our processes. The computers are all XP service pack 2 and 3 and their hardware from that era as well. I'd *like* to clone them to a virtual machine on a new computer, in lue of hardware failure. However, I haven't found a good way to do so, largely due to drivers. How should I tackle this issue? Any help would be great. I'd like to build plug and play backups in case of a failure. Thanks a bunch
