Since VM seems to be inappropriate for even low-demanding gaming I want to have Windows XP installed along Windows 8.1 64-bit to be able to play TOCA Race Driver 2 one of my first and favorite games I ever played. I am new to the subject and have concerns over mainboard-operating system compability. Are the mainboards out there that support both XP BIOS and 8.1 UEFI?

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to play music on a car cd player from a windows xp install disc. Is it?

I was wondering how to update a windows xp system to Microsoft's latest update that deals with the wannacrypt worm (MS17-010). I heard that in an unusual move, Microsoft made the update available to windows xp systems too. I don't see the usual update prompts from windows update within the system. Going onto microsoft's website only shows options for windows vista and up. I was wondering how to download the update and apply it to a windows xp system.

Hello everyone! Last Saturday I went on the hunt for some nice things to a few second hand shops in the city where I live. I've found some really old games that i used to play when I was a kid. Since they were all 0,50€ each I got 20 of them... I don't regret it tho I got few really nice titles like GTA2 or Carmageddon OoO. Now the problem is that I made a VM(Virtual box) and installed Win XP on it, but the games won't run Prince of Persia 3D just shows starting screen and then crashes to the desktop... Carmageddon starts nicely, but then it is loading the game endlessly... CoD 2 is thinking that I have an illegal copy of the game since I have to share the optical drive from the host machine to guest Win XP installation... TL;DR Some old games won't work on my VM and I don't know why. Does anyone know how to fix it? I enabled graphic card sharing(GTX 750ti). VM has 2GB of RAM and 2 cores from my Athlon X4 860k. My host system is Win 10.

I have had this computer for awhile, since 2005. It had worked perfectly till suddenly one day, the windows xp user menu would not support my keyboard and mouse. I know it's not the keyboard or mouse do to both working in bios, but for some reason will not work past the bios menu after windows launch. Why is this happening?

Hello forum :D// Oh man, do I have a task, one of my friends PC recently started malfunctioning and asked me for help. Since I'm not an expert/professional I've come here for some advice on what I should do. Yesterday I went over to his house and learned these things: -After pressing the power button the motherboard responded with one beep. -Image 2 is what happened when I attempted to get the PC to boot into windows -I WAS able to get into PC's BIOS and a screen where windows asked me if I would like to boot into safe mode but the image was so disrupted it was impossible to read any text on the screen (however selecting an option would result in the PC locking up and not doing anything) -The Mobo had no integrated video so I couldn't take the GPU out to test if that was the problem (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128068 From memory I think this is the Mobo) This has lead me to conclude that the video card is damaged/malfunctioning but the rest of the computer is still functioning as I could still navigate through the BIOS. The PC is full of dust, hasn't been maintained very well, the dust has probably damaged the GPU, there was dust on exposed SLI bridge. Computer Specs: -OS: Windows XP -GPU: Geforce Nvidia 8800GT -CPU: Intel core duo (not sure of exact model) -HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB (S/N: WMATV3906577, Model: WD1001FALS, Date of purchase: 27/10/2009, SATA interface) -Mobo: Gigabyte (not sure of model, blue PCB if that helps) After seeing this and talking to him I'd like to do the following: -As his PC is old he said he would like to replace it with a new one but transfer/keep all of his programs and files. (I'm confident the HDD is still functioning, didn't make any strange sounds when I turned on the PC) I am not sure how to transfer the data from this old PC over to a new one, I've read that windows gets attached to its current hardware so it won't be as simple as plugging the HDD into a new PC. I did find this software that claims to be able to do it: (http://www.zinstall.com/how-to/how-to-recover-your-programs-and-files-from-a-broken-computer) Do you guys have any suggestions? Or should I take this to a professional and find him a new PC to put the files onto? If you would like more information I'm happy to respond.

Im running a windows XP virtual machine through virtual box on windows 10. I have two games im currently trying to run from their discs. Anno 1503 AD the new world. And Command and Conquer Red Alert 2. They seem to install just fine but wont play and the overall performance of the VM itself is less than desirable. If anyone knows anything that can help me or even a way to run these games on windows 10 without a VM. It would be greatly appreciated. Ive missed these games. Ill include screenshots of the VMs info and my system info.

Don't waste time and energy to tell me wtf are you doing with windows xp in 2017 and the awnser is retro gaming. It is possible to make gtx 970-TitanXM working with xp by just adding their name in the driver's notepad. Is it possible to do the same thingwith amd gpus as well? Keep in mind that r9 270x works with xp so it is possible.

Ok so i got me and my fammily a NAS for christmas, but what OS do i run. iv heard that FreeNAS wants 8GB of RAM and iv got 4GB so i dont really know what to do, here are the specs of the microserver: CPU: Athlon II NEO N36L 1.3GHz RAM: 4GB(dont know the speed or brand) HDD: 2.5" 1TB HDD i was thinking of running the OS of a 4GB USB drive seeing as i saw a lot of people do that and i had one around so the OS needs to be no bigger the 4GB. i was told FreeNAS was the best around but also that it needed 8GB RAM and sticking more RAM in this machine is right now not an option. the NAS needs to be accessed from two OSX computers, two windows 10 computers and one windows XP computer and preferably also my android phone but thats not that important. thanks for any help and any replies

hey, i am trying to help an older lady fix her 1995 dell (wxp). i got the system to work(but is almost repulsively slow), but am trying to upgrade her system with an workstation i got from my workplace. the hdd from the 1995 system is IDE, i cloned the drive to a new drive, SATA, but when i plug it into the new work station it blue screens when i try to boot to safe mode or normal. i am assuming it is a cpu driver issue or something else. i dont want to do a fresh install of window 10 for 2 reasons: they wouldn't know how use it, and dont want to lose their files. is there a way to do a fresh install of xp, and then add there users and files as if it was cloned? any insight would be greatly appreciated to me and to her.

I have an old 2003 HP Pavilion zx5000 running Windows XP Professional. Recently, It tried to boot and blue screened. No problem, I thought. I’ve been getting random blue screens and I’ve taught myself to ignore it. This time, I booted it up and it gave me an error saying something about lsass.exe Error. I tried safe mode, and I’ve tried putting in the XP disk, but the optical drive won’t detect it. Is there a program I can use to transport my disk to a flashdrive? Someone please let me know what I can do. Thanks! Please note that this is not my daily driver. I have this laptop because I have some old games from the XP era that I’d like play every once in a while. This laptop is also an exact one from when I was young so it means a lot to me. 58743266389__BB218AE6-AA78-42F9-A93F-F4AF5AD76459.MOV

I have an old IBM ThinkPad R52 running Windows XP Professional which I have been using as a spare computer. I noticed the hard drive was about to crap out as the laptop was running very slowly and the drive was making some very abnormal clicking sounds. Everything was working up until this point so I used Macrium Reflect to image the drive and bought another hard drive. Shortly after I had done this, the hard drive gave up and fully stopped working. Today I restored the image that I made of the old drive to the new one and the laptop booted up fine but was still running slower than usual. I thought that it would be a good idea to use the IBM Rescue and Recovery environment to restore the computer to its factory settings. I rebooted the PC and used F11 to boot into the recovery environment and it brought up a message which read 'Missing Operating System'. Browsing through the backup, all of the files for the recovery environment are on the hard drive but the computer cannot find them during boot. Please help!!!

I'm having a problem with reinstalling Windows XP Professional 32-Bit, I need to make a bootable usb but my only viable attempt ended on a black screen with some kind of a corrupt image. I'd be very grateful if someone can provide information on where to download a Windows XP 32-Bit iso and link some kind of software that turns that into a bootable usb, also if someone knows what I should set my primary boot option as when I'll be booting from that usb please tell (I have USB-ZIP, USB-FDD, USB-HDD, USB-FLOPPY), unless it's something different. Thanks

So I've recently found an old computer in my granddad's shed and he told me I can take it because it's a school computer which he got after our local school swapped them out for newer PCs. It's a Gigabyte GA-8S650GMX/Intel Celeron 2.4GHz/256Mb DDR system. The problem is that it also has the school's hard drive which only allows me to access the "student" account while "teacher" and "Administrator" are password protected, I've tried to change/delete the passwords with command prompt in safe mode and account manager but all I get is "Access Denied", I also tried resetting the Administrator password using usb drive and a few different password removing softwares but all of them require a paid licence and I don't know how to use cracks and such, I also tried to reinstall windows but all I was able to achieve is a usb install manager that's an app rather than a boot drive so I got "access denied" again. Please let me know if someone knows of any password removing software that's free or a way to make a bootable Windows XP usb (has to be 32-bit). Thanks

Hi Guys My friend asked me to backup his old hdd for him, and it gas windows XP on it so I thought I'd use it on my X58 system It works, but it automatically boots. It asks me to sign in, so I do. (there's only one user registered). When I sign in, it tells me I have to activate Windows. I can't do anything else. I get the activation window with 3 options: Turn off system Activate via internet Activate via phone I tried the phone method and it doesn't work. I tried the internet method and it can't establish a connection. I'm using a wifi adapter but even so I don't get any option to connect to wifi. I thought it would be a good idea to start in safe mode, but I can't get into safe mode. It says I need to use a proxy server but I have no idea how Please help me What should I do? I just want to play some old games :/

Hello, I am sure that this topic has come up in the past, but i couldn`t find anything that would help me. I am trying to instal windows 10 on an old Pentium 4 PC for a friend, with no luck so far. It runs windows Xp with no problem. The mobo and CPU are from the 2008 era, but they meet the minimum system req for windows 10. I have my windows 10 on a USB stick that I know it works (I checked it again at home and it works), but the problem is that it just surpassed the USB drive direct into windows Xp. the drive is recognized in bios and it is set to first boot. But when I reset it, nothing happens, it acts like there is no other device and goes straight to HDD. I installed windows 10 on only UEFI mobs, I have no experience with windows 10 on legacy BIOS. Is there any other trick to do on these old mobos? thank you for the answers
