Ok, so I'm planning to upgrade my PC. I Currently have a MSI micro ATX motherboard with a shitty amd cpu that I'm not quite sure of the name. I have 8 gb of Kingsont hyperx ram running at 1600 mhz. I have a Nvidia GTX 760 graphics card, a thermaltake 600w power supply, a 1 terrabit hard drive, and no ssds. I plan to upgrade to an ASUS x99 pro motherboard with 16gb of corsair vengence ram running at 2666 MHz. I plan to keep my current graphics card. Also, I plan to get an i7 5820k (which i plan to overclock to about 4.0 ghz). Anyways I have two questions in this all. 1. Will 600 watts be enough to power all of this, or will i have to go with like a corsair HX 1000i? And secondly, since I'm keeping my same Hard drive, will I have any issues booting up to Windows 8 and having all of my data, or will i have to get a whole new OS and then re-download all my files? Any help is appreciated, Thank you!

I'm currently using tritton ax pros that connect using usb for the mic and optical for audio. The audio part works fine but the mic part doesn't. The mic is detected in windows and isn't muted but still doesn't work. I haven't used the mic part in over a month but before it worked fine. I've also tried to use different mics and the same thing happens, shows up in windows but doesn't pick up any audio. Any help would be appreciated. OS is windows 8.1 What I get in sound/recording tab If you need more info let me know.

The easiest way to accomplish this process is to already have your hands on a copy of Windows 8’s downloadable .iso file – acquirable by just finding a free copy. If you have a flash drive of the appropriate size (at least 4GB or greater, depending on whatever file Microsoft lets you grab), you’re golden pony boy! Insert your flash drive into a USB slot on your system, and then go grab Microsoft’s Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool – don’t let the name discourage you. Install the app and run it. It’ll ask you to select an .iso file to be “burnt” onto your USB key. Go ahead and select your Windows 8 .iso file – the fact that it’s not the right operating system as the tool’s name has absolutely no bearing on what you’re doing. Just ignore "Windows 7" I works with Windows 8 too! On the next screen, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to create a “Windows 7 backup” (again, ignore the name) on a USB device or DVD. Pick the obvious answer, select your USB key from the drop-down menu. Select your USB device When you're ready to let 'er rip, click on "Begin copying!" If the tool needs to format your USB key first, it'll let you know. Pretty easy, right? Thanks for following this tutorial!

so i use a very low spec compaq laptop for software development, and i just recently factory reset it to try and remove some of the bloat ware ive accumulated over the years. It was great, ran smooth, all my compilers lived happy care free lives. jump to a few days ago, windows prompts me for a free update to 8.1, i assumed they had fixed some crashing bugs with browsers or somthing, and decided to run it. several hous later (like 8-9), its still running, i have to go somewhere the following day and decide to bring it with me, it had been charging on my desk all night and i assumed it was good to go, later i realized it was still finalizing some parts of the update so i just chilled and let it do its thing (it was on like 95%). everything finished up, and i loaded into my desktop. i proceded to open up a c++ compiler and go about my buisness, now heres where it gets wierd, if any program is opened or i click on the taskbar (not on a taskbar program even just blank space), it would go back to the start screen (i assume, my backgrounds set to green and it was just a screen o' that) and immediatly back to my destop, and back and forth every 30 seconds or so. i would just reset it and load my back ups, but open the control panel promps the bug, rendering the pc useless, i dont know how to get into the boot sequence to fix it, if i could even do that, or how to do such if at all possible. Im totally cool with a backdate, system wipe, or anything of the sort, as long as i still have the os. If thats not possible, im cool with installing ubuntu, but it would be a very last resort kind of thing. any help would be super appreciated, but im a total noob when it comes to this kind of thing

Hey guys, I recently got my razer blade, and when browsing the interballs the smooth scroll extension on chrome has made it so much more fluid and mac like, that I was just wondering if there was a program to enable this system wide. An example would be in the windows explorer, as what happens now is when I use the 2 finger scroll, it goes down one line at a time, unlike what I want it to be which is the smooth scroll that occurs when you manually drag the scroll bar on the right... I've checked the trackpad software that enables the 2 finger scrolling, however it does not have any options for the smooth scroll I'm looking for.

I was installing some drives, installed like three of them, I hit restart later until I got to the last one, and when it restarted, it would go any further than this screen:

Hello everybody. I just bought a 120 Gb Samsung 850 EVO, and I was planning on using it as my boot drive. Unfortunately, Im struggling to get Windows transferred to it. I tried creating a bootable USB drive, but the product key is not accepted, since its already being used in the HDD that I use. Im not sure how I can get Windows into my SSD. Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I have windows 8.1 on my laptop and when I rise the volume past 40% I get a banner saying the volume can damage my ears, which I get. The problem is that I accidentally clicked the button that limits the volume. Now I can't figure out how to rise the volume. Anyone know a solution? Edit: It's a samsung laptop and it only happens when I plug something in to the headphone port

I took some parts from a previous build, the new ones are starred: * Corsair 780T AMD FX8350 Black * Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 8GB x2 = 16GB total * Corsair H110 Cooler * Samsung 850EVO 120GB SSD Samsung 840EVO 250GB SSD (previously had windows 8.1 install on it) WD Caviar Blue 1 TB HDD EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Corsair CX600W PSU Build went pretty smoothly as far as I could tell. I'm able to access the BIOS without a problem by pressing delete during boot, but nothing else seems to work. If I boot to the SSD with windows on it, it gets stuck on "Preparing Automatic Repair" - the logo spins for a few seconds and then freezes If I boot to the DVD drive with the Windows 8.1 install disk, the logo spins for a few seconds and then freezes If I boot to a USB drive with the Windows install files, the logo spins and freezes I've tried removing every piece of hardware not required (wireless card, 1 stick of Ram, all hard drives except for the empty 120GB SSD), I've tried different SATA ports, I've tried disabling SecureBoot... No matter what I've tried, the process is exactly the same - It shows either the windows logo or my mobo logo, and the little dots in a circle animation plays for about 5 seconds and then freezes. I've let it run overnight hoping it just needed time, but that didn't work. HELP!

Ever since I switched to Windows 8 I'm now getting around 70-80, with sometimes drops below 60 Does anyone know how to fix this? I've updated my graphics drivers. I'm running a fx-8350 overclocked 4.6gHz with a GTX 770 II. PLZ HELP MIIII

Hello forum members, Lately I have been experiencing an issue on my Windows 8.1 computer. Whenever I try to install and program, the installer opens, you accept the terms and conditions, then you press install, and an error message comes up showing error code 2755. This has been happening on every program I try to install (about 20 of them). I believe the cause of the issue is that IOBit Uninstaller erased Registry files when uninstalling a program, and that the registry files are all messed up. I have tried looking up tutorials of this issue and they tell you to download a program, which finds issues, but wants you to pay to repair them. Another thing that has been happening (that I think is related to this is) that all my program icons have been dissapearing and being replaced by the no icon image. Below are some images that may help. Now my question is, Is there an easy (free) way to fix this or should I just revery my PC to my backup from February? The error message that pops up when installing ANY program. The Icon that is replacing my program icons. Thanks in advance, Tony

Hello, I was wondering if there is a keyboard combination to use the "search all" function of the charmsbar in Windows 8(.1). I only know that pressing "WinKey+S" uses the search bar, however only "search files" is selected. Thanks

Hey guys! I'm in the process of purchasing parts for my new HTPC build and wondering whether to get windows 7 home premium or windows 8.1 full version. I can get windows 7 on sale right now for 69.99 USD, that's 30$ off normal pricing. Also, with windows 10 coming soon I feel it's a no brainer to get windows 7. Just looking for some other opinions. Here is the parts for the build below. Keep in mind I am not going to be purchasing them all right away but I have laid out so possible upgrades for the near future. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/jdidia1006/saved/6vPG3C

So I've been wanting a tablet for a while now but I've just never done it. I've also considered getting a laptop for trips because all I have now is my phone. So when I came across something like this http://www.amazon.com/Quantum-keyboard-Windows-Baytrail-T-Quad-core/dp/B00LU0UXA6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 it seemed like a pretty good deal considering it's only $250 USD. I don't expect it to play GTA or anything but stuff like FTL, browsing the web, and watching YouTube should be pretty easy for it to handle, right? I guess all i'm wondering if any of you guys have opinions on windows tablets and if they're kind of a waste or they're basically the second coming.

A friend of mine has a Lenovo ideapad U510 running windows 8.1 and when the machine goes to sleep all of his programs close, which is extremely annoying. I have poked around the settings a bit but found no mention of this. Any ideas?

I found some very cheap Windows 8 keys on reddit and I'm very tempted to buy one. What are the advantages of Windows 8 for gaming reasons, what are the disadvantages. I mainly play BF4 as of right now, if that makes any of a difference. Thanks guys

Hello all, hope we're all doing just dandy. As mentioned in my previous post, this is my current setup: The tablet in the middle runs Windows 8.1. I want to be able to, if possible; create tiles on the Metro/Modern UI which when pressed will send keystroke combinations to my main [the triple screen one, not in a different room or anything] computer. They've both connected to the same network, the PC is wired and the tablet is wireless. I know basic knowledge of creating batch files on the PC to send keystrokes, just wondering if it's possible to do so wirelessly? I have batch toggles for turning Synergy on and off, turning auto-hide the taskbar on and off, and will soon be creating one to toggle default playback device. I want to be able to open these batch files with key remote key shortcuts. If I've explained myself like an idiot someone please tell me. I've also just seen a spider on the wall so I'm going to retreat to bed like a coward now and cry myself to sleep. Cheers!

Hi there, Since it is a rather reported issue on the web I guess there is a thread in here somewhere, but I couldn't find.. so if you know of a thread redirect me to there Anyway to the problem. I have a laptop that had win7 ultimate, and wanted to upgrade it to 8.1. since the direct move to 8.1 deletes the apps I decided to pass through win8. everything was OK, kept (most) of my apps just fine and when I wanted to upgrade to 8.1 it asked me to update to the latest win8 updates, so I did. After about half an hour of downloading and installing it asked to restart (roughly 131 updates), and so I did. while rebooting it reached the screen saying: Failure configuring Windows updatesReverting changes and since then it is stuck (well over 2 hours now). Is there anything I can do to help the pc? or I should just wait until it finishes and then do the updates in smaller chunks? Many thanks in advance! btw, it is a Samsung NP900x (256GB SSD, 4GB Ram and 3rd generation Core I5, so I think it should be able to handle the update...) Edit: It seems to restart from time to time, and the simply continues with the reverting (does not seem to end as far as I can see...)

I have been having a problem with Nexus Mod Manager and .net framework. The installation is stuck at 0% whenever I try to install. I am on Widows 10 TP but before everyone assumes that is the reason, I attempted this on a windows 8.1 install. My friend on windows 7 is also having the same problem.
