Hey guys I'm looking for some thoughts on this two cards the Asus GTX 980 strix edition vs the gigabyte GTX 980 windforce I will like to know which do yo think is better in terms of cooling system, OC, performance and how quiet they perform, Since I'm looking towards building a silent rig but without losing performance and ability to have a good OC. Thank you for your answers!

I'm thinking on buying new graphics card and I'm little bit confused which GTX980 is the best because there are so many of them. I want to choose best gtx980 for money. Please if you know something about gtx 980 recommend me which one should I get, right now i'm thinking of asus strix 980 , sc acx 2.0 , windforce , evga ftw , msi gtx 980 ... please recommend the best performing one thank you. And also on amazon.com reference gtx980 costs more and has less performance, so i'm interested if that's amazon pricing problem or it is meant to be like that.

Hey guys I have this Card. and am about to send it in for an RMA. However during my testing of this card I realised that the card...seems to perform pretty strangely. If i fire up too many chrome tabs and youtube, the card actually would not boost. Also After gaming for a bit, the card actually stops boosting, and won't boost again until after I reboot my com. was wondering if this is the case for other owners of this card or the 280X? Temps while gaming is about 80-85 Celcius. In Heaven this spikes to about 93 max thus far.

So yesterday I posted here about a problem with my brand new R9 280 (totally new build), whereby it was seen in windows as a standard vga adapter, and severy time I installed the drivers, windows would go black on reboot after some weird graphical glitches(lines all over the screen). I used Driver Sweeper to uninstall all drivers, installed beta, tried again with newest, tried with older drivers, you get the idea. I even reinstalled windows after wiping my drive and still no luck. I'm starting to think the card might be a dud. Just wondered about any other steps you guys might have for me to try before I RMA this. Thanks! Specs for reference: MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970-UD3P CPU: FX-6300 GPU: Windforce R9 280 3GB RAM: HyperX Savage 8gb PSU: Antec Edge 650w

Hey you beautiful people! I was wondering if ya'll could give some custom help with overclocking for a first time overclocker. I have a GTX Windforce 970, and a cabinet with medium to good airflow. I use msi afterburner, and i was wondering what would be the optimal overclock for it, aswel as safe temps for it my specs are as following: GTX 970 AMD FX-6100 Six cores (upgrading soon) 8 gigs of ram Thanks - Soulsie

Alright I'm considering buying a GTX 960 And I narrowed my search to 2 Brands The ZOTAC GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 (ZT-90301-10M) (not the AMP!) and Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 WINDFORCE 2X (GV-N960WF2OC-2GD) (not the G1 Gaming). They have the same price in my country which one should I Pick?

Hi Linus nation, Quite a short question (I hope). I want to put an RGB led strip in my computer case and I want it to be the same color as the blue illuminated Windforce logo as in the Gigabyte GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD. Does anyone know the RGB code for this? And what RGB ledstrip do you recommend? Thanks in advance. Greets from the Netherlands, Bramovitz

Here's my setup - Asus Motherboard, F2A85-M LE AMD A10-5800K (APU - Radeon 7660D) 8 GB Corsair Vengeance (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10) Amacrox Freestyle - 750W PSU (aka FSP) 1TB HDD Cooler Master K380 Windows 8.1 Here's the story.. I initially wanted to get the MSI R7 260X but then a bunch of people online suggested I buy the Gigabyte WindForce edition R9 280 instead, that's just perfect for my budget and bang for the buck. But the thing is, I'm not in the US and my @%#&!ing country's recent change in rules, is somehow denying all payments (regardless of the bank and type of card) to international websites for electronics. If you didn't already guess the PMSing country, it's India. So anyway, I'm willing to spend around Rs. 12,000 - 15,000 (that's around $200..) for my first GPU. And after I saw the GigabyteWF R9 280's specs, I gotta say.. 3GBs GDDR5, 384bit, with those clock speeds at this price?! Freaking Awesome. Now I'm hellbent on getting that GPU, or, since it's not in my country; and my country won't let me - an alternative. I've tried buying from Newegg and Amazon.COM (not amazon.IN - they didn't have it) both sent me an email a while after saying my order was placed, that my payment has been declined. And I get in-touch with the bank and they told me what I've told you. Freaking new rules. But I then checked up Gigabyte's website online and I called up the dealer in my city. The guy said he's stacked up on Nvidia cards (but nvidia for my rig wouldn't be the most optimal fit, would it?) and they've only just began importing cards from the US o' A, so he told me they'd take around about, and I quote, "a quarter of a year to a year, max" . . . . . .. yeeeaaahhahahhahahhahaa  No. <_< I'm not gonna wait a year. Or maybe I'll just have to *sigh* .. I've never bought a GPU before nor am I sure how to judge them, but going by hardware specs, on paper, the Gigabyte R9 280 kicks some serious butt at the pricing. Anyway! I digress... Basically, I want an alternative to the Gigabyte R9 280. And I've scoured the internet, none even come close to this GPU at this price point. I want a card of the similar, high tier chipset, 3GBs of GDDR5, and a 384 bit memory interface. I currently have a single monitor at 1920x1080, but it's just a matter of principle for me- so to say..you know?... I want that extra bandwidth, even though the internet says 256bits for 1080p displays should be fine. I want that extra 1GB for a total of 3GBs.. I've seen Watch_Dogs somewhere mention 3GBs of memory for enabling high textures.. How's the MSI R9 280? XFX Radeon R9 280X? And so I ask, fellow tech lovers, which GPU would be ideal for me at the $200 price!? Shall I wait or something? Is there a better card I've missed?(it seems impossible that I did) I'm gonna be using it for gaming of-course, but I also have a Wacom tablet, so I do some graphic stuff with Photoshop, also some 3D modelling, Cinema4D stuff, etc. Future-proofing, who knows? But I'd like this card to last me a while, say 2, 3 years down the line, I'd even be willing to settle at 1280x720p gaming... Does anyone have any idea? I'd really appreciate it. And gosh I hope the cards you guys suggest are available here @_@

So I'm building sort of a budget build for about $500-$600 and my friend is selling me his old GeForce GTX 780 WindForce cards (2 cards) from Gigabtye, in almost new condition, for $75 each ($150 total) because he upgraded to 980s in SLI (he's sort of rich). In my build I'm planning on using a Pentium G3258 for my processor temporarily until I can afford a 4770k or 4790k and then using the Pentium for a mini-itx media PC build. I just wanted to know if the Pentium will bottleneck the 780s to a point where they're not usable and if it's a worthy investment. Also I would like to know if it's better to buy one 780 and then using the extra $75 to buy a better CPU. I'm up to any suggestions for the build in general as well . Here is a link to the parts for build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zQ2tsY Here is a write-up as well: CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($64.98 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.75 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($126.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($36.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Apotop 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.99 @ Newegg) +1tb Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm Hard Drive (Already Have) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card (2-Way SLI) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card (2-Way SLI) Case: NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($67.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($81.98 @ Newegg) Total: $467.67 + $150 for video cards = $617.67

I bought two of these when I was upgrading my system from the HD7870 Ghz edition I had in there. So hows performance? PROS Overall More than i was expecting from a mid-high end AMD card. A Single GPU can run all everything I own over 60FPS which is fine for because i only have a 75 Hertz Monitor. The fans also don't spin Under Normal workload. Two of these cards in crossfire almost triples my 3DMark Score and Increases Valley Benchmark Considerably. So even though I Basically bought a HD7950 on terminator class steroids there was still a massive improvement over a now 3 Year old GPU. All Triple "A" Games run Flawlessly in crossfire with the Omega drivers. CONS Crossfire Works MOST of the time. There is no lagging or micro stutters, but the freaking shaders man... They glitch so hard i get a headache in about a minute. Now from what I've tested its only happened in early access and a couple Indie games so i guess that can be expected. The Omega Drivers made the setting up crossfire a bit weird Hiding the whole mention of crossfire until I restarted the system. While playing games BOTH cards kicked up the volume to the max because combined 6 cooling fans(Thank god those don't run like that all the time). Modding Experience: If your Into that kind of thing, I found the disassemble pretty standard for a GPU, almost identical to the video Linus did. Painting any one the metal requires some kind of Priming Layer because the paint wont stick otherwise. Overclocking: nothing worth Noting, Same as HD 7870 was Conclusion: Is it worth the cost? I would say so. Would i recommend it? Leaning toward no, Just get a single 290x or a GTX Games Tested battlefield 4 - Ultra preset -Great WOW,LOL,Dota 2 -High Everything all options on -Overkill and a half Spintires- High-med-low -all settings crossfire failure, single card was fine though COD advanced warfare - as high as it goes - Great, Fans loud as hell after a while BeamNG.Drive Beta- high no FXAA - good could be better, game probably not optimized yet Skyrim stock - High - destroyed it, run all the high texures you want lol minecraft moded shaders - damn good -shaders did some weird stuff but pretty good otherwise, Overkill titan Fall- High everthing -Overkill again Games i didn't have time to test Watchdogs Assassins creed black flag Batman arhkam origins Ill get the benchmarks up soon...

You may have seen my last post from yesterday, asking which, from a list of locally sold used GPUs, would be the best card for the amount of money spent. After your suggestions, I have revised my choices and now have three top contenders. ASUS R9 290 DCU II - $250 Gigabyte 290 Windforce - $200 AMD Radeon 7970 XFX double dissipation - $200 Let me know what you think would be the best bang for my buck here! I really appreciate all your input, thanks guys!!

Hey! I seem to have an issue when I try to overclock my 970 g1 card! Even if i just slightly overclock the card, I get fragments in benchmarking and games crash pretty quickly (after 5min-ish)! Its really bugging me because I have read a lot of great things about overclocking this card, and I really want to overclock mine, just a little bit! I want to do something like 150+ mhz core clock, 250+ mhz mem clock, 110 power limit, auto fan and as little as possible, if no increase in voltage! But It just crashes the games for me, while it seems everyone else who has the card, overclocks like this or higher with great success! Do anyone have any tips or ideas? My setup is: i5 4690k 4.2/4.3 ghz (a bit oc'd) asus z97-a mb corsair rm850, 850w psu 250g ssd 2tb hdd gtx gigabyte g1 970 oc'd the system through 5way optimization that asus provides through the mb, does that interfere with me trying to oc the gpu?

Hi guys. I want to know which card is the best one in terms of overall performance with and without OC, which one is the best overclocker, less noisy, coil whine, to make it simple, which is best? Or should I just buy the cheapest one? Will there be any problems with the single 8-pin connector of the strix? Which one fits in a Corsair C70 (it has 320mm clearance for GPU), and the motherboard matters? I'm getting a Maximus VII Hero. Thanks!

Hey yall, It would be that time to decide what GPU brand to go with and I need some advice. Firstly, which card would perform better from stock. Secondly, what would perform better overclocked and finally, which would run coolest stock and overclocked. Any answers appreciated

Dear, I'm preparing to buy the Gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming and i was thinking to replace the windforce front metal cover to paint it white so it matches my build. I'm looking for a replacement so i won't have any problem with the warranty. Does anyone knows where i can find one ? I tried eBay and Amazon but didn't find anything. Please note that i'm not thinking of buying an other VGA like Galax HoF, etc so please don't suggest me other video cards. Thanks.

Hey, I recently purchased an MSI HD 7950 (non twin frozr edition) and the cooling is absolutely appalling! (it's this one). I was wondering if I could use a Windforce cooler from a Gigabyte 7950 on my card, and what other stuff would I need to do the upgrade (other than thermal paste and a screwdriver). Thanks, Aaron

Both of these cards are placed on Amazon.co.UK by gigabyte for the GTX 970, and I'm not sure what the difference is between them... They seem identical to me. Could you please tell me what the difference is (if there is one)?
