Hello, For days now I have been searching how to use my Nikon D5100 as a webcam since I want to start giving online courses. I could use my computers webcam, but it seems such a waste not to go for a much higher quality and use my DSLR. I have bought a HDMI cable to connect the camera to the Mac, and have installed Screenflow as the video tool. However, the Mac does not seem to find or recognize the signal from my camera. I am now at a loss ... Do I need another device between the camera and the Mac, or another video tool, or something else ...? Thanks in advance for some help and some advice! And greetings from Belgium Anne

Lots of laptops are ditching webcams, which is really stupid especially since after this pandemic we'll likely be doing a lot more video conferences and online classes. I need a webcam and have been thinking about upgrading laptops to the ROG Zephyus G14 but the lack of a camera of any kind let alone windows hello is a massive turnoff. Are there any good options for 3rd party cameras that I can maybe leave on all the time even closed or are significantly less of a hassle than the majority of webcams. I'm not looking for video quality just something I can forget about.

Hey guys, I would like you to help me with a problem that came up. My webcam in my hp elitebook was working when I first bought it, but it started showing an error when I tried to open it some time later but the warranty ended so I didnt really care because I never used it...Sounds dumb I know. But what matters now is that I have to use it so i tried everything that came to my mind to fix it. So first thing I did was to update the drivers... the error went away but the camera was upside down.. since then I have reinstalled the drivers a couple of times, I have gone back to older versions, I have disabled and enabled the camera again, I have uptated drivers of other parts just in case it had something to do... I have run out of ideas so I ask for your help as a last hope before I go and buy one furstrated for the time I spend....I kinda took it personally. Btw my windows are also up to date. Thank you in advance

Hello Guys ! I hope your all doing well with the current situation ! I have a simple question concerning webcams for mac. As a lot of people, I've started to work from home, and to attend meetings, I've bought a webcam. Logitech peripherals always worked very well with my PC, so I've bought a logitech C920HD. But for work related reasons, I'm forced to use two setups, a mac mini and a windows laptop (both hooked up to the same screen). The probleme is that the C920HD has a very large angle, and people in my meetings can see the whole room, and that's not ideal since other people use the office as well... So I tried, with logitech software, to zoom in or change the very large base angle of the webcam, but in macOS the logitech software seems to be not updated since a while (as they say on their website), and on the windows side, the logitech software is usable, but when I zoom in, the supposed croped / zoomed output is broken (Like if the camera turns on and off very second). So now I have a camera with a way to large angle (very not convenient), and no software to use in macOS and a unsuable software output in Windows... Does anyone have a suggestion for a 1080p webcam with a way tighter angle that works well in macOS and Windows ? (or juste that have a software to zoom in, but that works in both OS ?) Thanks in advance to everyone that takes the time to read this and help me Have a nice day !

For about a week now windows hello face id has given me an error camera not working, so I tried to reset face id but was met with the same error. I then checked device manager and couldn't find the camera under anything. After going through windows forums, resetting windows 10, and attempting to install drivers from dell's support page I have no solution. Help would be much appreciated. error message from camera app is 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>

I am looking to get a Mac-compatible webcam for, mostly casual, business meetigs. My setup is in a way that I can't use Mac camera, so I am looking to get a dedicated one. Budget is under $300, preferably even lower. I see there are a ton of Logitech models C920, C920s, C920 HD, C922, C930e, ... There is even Razer Kiyo with built-in ring-light, but it is officially not supported on Mac - I am not sure if it would work properly since I saw contrary info on it. What do you suggest? What are you using?

I'm tired of not showing my face on Skype reunions with my friend group when I use my desktop. Last time I even put gifs of Nick Offerman in loop through the screen sharing so my friends would have something to see So I need a webcam, but I put some effort into making my desk look sharp with two small-bezel screens, headphone stand, speakers and such. Do you know any small, beautiful or well-integrated webcam with good picture quality and possibly good audio input? Is there any webcam that doesn't go on top of a screen?

Sup peeps! So couple of days ago i got myself a logitech c922 webcam to get ze face cam up while streaming. well all fine and dandy except from time to time when I open obs , c922 lights up but shows up in obs as only a black window. This has reoccurred a couple of times and I don't really have a clue why is it happening. One thing that I have noticed is that it tends to happen when I first open obs; from time to time obs itself doesn't open but only activates the webcam and as I open it a second time, then this glitch occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated as rebooting every time this happens is getting real old real fast.

I'm currently planning a student project and my group has decided on a small hologram projector. The idea is to essentially, grab the image from a webcam, mirror it so that it create 4 images that face away from the center of the screen (in different directions) and display it to project onto the hologram device. The device itself is simple and will be made out of acrylic. However, the project seems to be focused on the actual video capture. Beginner to intermediate programming can be done. Anyone have any clue on how to approach this? Currently, it can only be done through video editing software as far as I know, but we wanted it real-time. We also considered that the background may cause issues, leading us to think that we would also need to filter that out as well. A simple example of the project would be this.

I recently came across a driver pack called Intel Skycam. Dell, Lenovo and HP all seem to have the pack available but, none of them actually explain what the differnence is between Intel Skycam and there other webcam drivers, available for there computers. Does anyone have any information on Intel Skycam? Thanks.

hey there :-) so my brother is working in biotech, and they have stumbled on the need to hook up a portable camera for web conferencing purposes. Since they need to hook the cam on to various laptops and desktops based on the needs, I'm trying to help him out with a recommendation for a good HD WIFI WEBCAM. Then I realized I know nothing about these peripherals, so I remembered I have tech savvy geeky friends (like me ;-) for the rescue. Any ideas?

I was looking into The Razer Stargazer, I was particularly interested in it because it has Intel's RealSense technology . I was going to build a PC in the upcoming months as AMD ZEN and AMD VEGA or NVIDIA 1080 ti comes out, but when I got more into the Razer Stargazer page on RazerZone.com , the system requirements were Intel 6th gen processor. So, my question is ' Can I use the Intel RealSense technology with a AMD based PC. sorry for long post here's a RAZER POTATO

I have a lenovo laptop, IdeaPad 305. It has the lenovo EasyCamera built in. I also have a Logitech C920 webcam. On skype, when i try and use the lenovo webcam, it sits on the loading circle and never loads, however the camera works fine on the windows 10 camera app. The C920 works fine all the time. I've tried reinstalling the drivers for the webcam, and reinstalling skype. No luck. Any ideas anyone?

So I wanted to use my Ipad as a webcam for twitch so I got a software called iVCam. It works great (though I wish it was wired cause then less latency) but I don't know how to use it for Twitch. After selecting the hardware decoding option I was able to have skype detect it but I don't know how to let my computer detect it as a webcam and let me select it through Geforce's streaming option. Any alternative programs or something I can do to let this work?

I just purchased a webcam, it was a C615 from MicroCenter, I came home plugged it in, nothing, installed the drivers and now the microphone on the webcam works (yeay?) but the webcam camera is detected in device manager but not my any logitech software or any other software and as such, will not work for skype, camera, or discord's new video call, the only reason I got it. I tried uninstalling the LWS drivers then reinstalling through it, Uninstalling through device manager and trying to reinstall which gives me error code 18 and access denied (screenshot below), restarting my pc, and different usb ports. If you need my specs, I don't know what you would need besides OS but, my specs are Cpu: i5-4590 Mobo: z97-a Asus Ram: 4x4gb ddr3 corsair Graphics Card: RX 460 4GB Webcam: Logitech C615 OS: Windows 10 64bit Any help is appreciated and thanks for checking out my thread! I kinda suck at troubleshooting stuff

Hey everyone TL;DR ver: I want to use my phone as a webcam (and maybe mic) only software I found so far that works is called DroidCam. Long ver: I had a very old hand me down webcam that lost support in the first creators update for Windows 10 chucked it cause it was a cheap and crap one shrug before buying a new one I thought why not use my old Galaxy S5 as a webcam. I found some Ghetto software called DroidCam it has a mobile app and pc client (not sure about ios, mac and linux). It works just fine most of the time but you have to have the software running on both devices and it sometimes doesn't work because the mobile app doesn't detect the pc client or the other way around. Does anyone know of alternatives ? And buying a new webcam is a lame answer. The main reason I want to use the phone is I already own the phone and to get a decent webcam would pretty much be a waste of money imo, I use it for light streaming mainly to record my keyboard and mouse area in game and the quality on the phone camera is a lot better than the old webcam.

So I'm researching some cameras and I've come across a few that could work for my needs without being too expensive but I think i need more help here. I'm really looking for a camera that will record long sessions without a problem and also be used as a Webcam. I know there are a lot of Canon and nikon DSLRs that will work with programs like digicam. But I also found a nex-7 which isn't listed. However, the nex-6 is. Has anyone gotten the 7 to work with it? Also any other recommendations for something around $300? Keep in mind I also have hdmi capture for my computer.

Hello, I have a MSI GE62 6QC apache laptop, my webcam has always been working fine since I've updated from windows 10 to windows 10 creators update. The webcam shows up in the device manager and it says I have the latest drivers installed, I've even deleted the drivers and installed them again. On my pc I have a key to turn on the camera and it regularly works. When I open OBS the led indicator next to the webcam doesn't turn on, but when I open the windows camera program the led turns on (meaning that the webcam is activated) but the screen just remains black. Could you please help me fix this problem? Thanks you!
