I use this PC for video editing, video AI upscaling, and heating my house in the winter (not even kidding). I'm looking to upgrade but I'm not sure if there will be enough PCIE bandwidth. A lot of my applications can use multiple GPUs for rendering (like Davinci Resolve), or I use the extra GPU to multi-task with Handbrake, Topaz Video AI, games, etc. Current build: i5 11600K 64 GB DDR4 Gigabyte B560 AORUS PRO AX ATX LGA1200 Motherboard 2 TB M.2-2280 SATA SSD RTX 3080ti RTX 3080ti EVGA Supernova 1300W PSU Planned build: i9 14900K 96GB DDR5 Gigabyte Gaming X Motherboard? (4 PCIE gen 4 NVME slots) RTX 3080ti RTX 3080ti one NVME drive, but likely add more later. The current 14900k has only 20 PCIE lanes maximum, so what happens when I use them all up? What if I have 2 GPUS and 4 NVME drives?

A while ago I went through some vlogs of peoples' LTX vlogs from times' past. One of the booths that I would see would feature getting to use LTT footage and trying to edit the best video out of it. The winner would get some prize, typically. Now that LTX is over, are there any plans to do a Video contest again (whether remotely or not)? If not, would that be something that LTT could do this summer? I would love to enter lol

Budget (including currency): 400 - 450 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Palworld, Helldivers 2 and video editing Other details: This PC will be used play Helldivers 2 and Palworld on 1080p at 60fps. Video editing should be around the same resolution. I am doing this build as a surprise gift for my friend on his birthday. This is going to be his first getting into PC gaming. I am hoping this build will be stable enough that he won't need to upgrade for a few years; as well as, minimum maintance too. Please let me know what changes I should do, or if it good enough. Thank you. Parts List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Kr3mjH

Just curious if anyone might have experience with editing 720-1080p video. And what would be the cheapest build I could do for a smooth experience editing 720p video and maybe 1080p it just needs to be a simple build nothing fancy something to get the job done and while it doesn't need to render the final job quickly I'd like to avoid lag when scrubbing through video. That's all that's needed. Perhaps a used laptop recommendation too? Ideally looking to spend under $200. I already have 16gbs of DDR4 2400mhz ram. Dyt it'd be fine to use an office PC with like a 7th gen i5 or i7? I have the budget for better but I'm not looking for anything crazy just something that'll work.

I scored (or so I think) a base model M3 Pro 14" MBP for $1800 on a recent sale at Best Buy. I would prefer to find something cheaper. I'm considering a refurbished M2 Pro instead that I've found for $1600 on Apple's website. I don't know if I'd be missing out on features though. I tried so many different Windows laptops, but none fit the bill with build quality, speakers, screen, and overall non-gameriness. I prefer glossy screens over matte screens ideally OLED or Mini LED, and of course 120hz+ is a preferred option. I can find plenty of performant options from the Windows side but most fall short especially with speakers. In an ideal world, I'd love to occasionally pick up an eSports title like Rocket League and play on my 3440x1440 175hz OLED, but it seems thats wishful thinking. I've kind of given up the idea of gaming just because the MacBook Pro M2/M3 Pro are such compelling options. Also, why does no one offer a haptic trackpad in 2024? Diveboard trackpads are so BAD. I would really love some recommendations of video editing laptops around the $1600 mark that might be able to game. The feel of the latop is very important to me. Windows is fine I'm just very in the Apple ecosystem. Thanks!

Hello all! My dad's pc is nearing its 10 year anniversary, and I am helping him spec out a new one. Other than web browsing, the pc will be used exclusively for 4K video editing. No gaming at all, not even a little. (:c) TL;DR: Is a rtx 3050 a really bad choice (bottleneck) in combination with a i7-14700k, if the rig will never be used for gaming? Fast render times is not priority no.1 if it means saving a few hundred dollars. The budget is pretty high, and these are the specs so far: CPU: Intel i7-14700k GPU: Asus RTX 3050 8gb MBO: ASUS Prime Z690-A RAM: Corsair 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 5600MHz SSD (x2): WD Black SN770 500GB Gen 4 HDD: WD Red PRO 8TB 7200rpm 256MB Cooler: DeepCool AK400 Zero Dark Plus PSU: ASUS TUF Gaming 750W Gold Case: Fractal Design Focus 2 Solid This will total in about $2k, which is about as far as he wants to go. He edits only in Vegas Pro with little GPU acceleration, so I figured allocating more money to RAM and CPU would be better. I still think so, but seeing a 3050 next to an 14700k... it just kind of feels wrong. xd What do you all think? Is this a good move, or should I balance it out? It will be a massive upgrade anywho; he will be coming from a i7-4770, a gtx 660 and 16gb RAM. Thank you beforehand!

They are both priced the same & i like that the AIO comes with a screen but the only problem is not being able to put a GPU as i value peformance. So my question is if we put a gpu on the 7060 & an eGPU on the AIO will the peformance be the same?

Budget (including currency): Around $800 to $1000 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, video editing, and other more modern games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have an i5 6400 This is the build list I have made: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GMwhmD If you can make this one better or make a build that is better that does not use the i5 6400 that would be great. I like Intel and Nvidia but do not require them, just if the specs and price are the same I would take the Intel one. I need a drive for the OS and a drive for everything else. Would like my "everything else" drive to be two in raid 1 so I can lose one. Will run windows, would like to have more ram than less. Will need case and psu, can do without peripherals for now. Need any more info, just ask.

This is an issue that's been plaguing me for months now, and I finally want to try and fix it. I don't know what I could have done to cause this, but when I play a video with a Windows media player or try to edit with software like Davinci Resolve, it cannot play the video and Windows Media doesn't even complain about it being an unknown format, but VLC can play it just fine, and this is with videos in general, not just mkv. Other than trying an OS reinstall, is there anything I could do to try and fix it?

First build! I want something *decently* powerful, enough to handle video editing, some gaming (likely nothing too graphic intensive, see below), potentially streaming. Not really editing 4k all that much currently, but I imagine that will change in the coming years. Let me know where I can improve with my budget (i.e. more bang for the buck), and if there are any major changes I should consider. Any assistance welcome! VERY NEW to this. I've watched my fair share of LTT vids, along with other creators, but very much a novice here, lol. Budget (including currency): $1300 Country: $US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Premiere Pro, After Effects (potentially), Streaming (potentially), Rocket League, CS:GO, Valorant, Minecraft Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Selling 2017 iMac to help fund the computer. Planned parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YkvXvj (also listed below) - CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x - MOBO: Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 - GPU: MSI RTX 3060 Ventus 3X 12gb OC - RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 - Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME (for OS) Seagate BarraCuda 4TB 3.5" 5400 RPM (for bulk storage) - Power Supply: Corsair CX650M (2021) 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX - CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 59 CFM - Case: Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower Case - OS: Windows 11 (will need to buy) Already purchased: One 23.8" 1080p 165hz ASUS TUF Gaming Monitor (TUF Gaming VG247Q1A), customized Keychron C2. Peripherals needed: Mouse, additional Monitor (maybe one more for editing?) Additional info: I can't really afford to buy all these parts at once, so I'll likely buy them piece by piece over the space of a couple months. If anyone has some ideas as to what I should buy first/last, let me know! Also -- brother suggested full size tower for ease of a first build, but I don't have THAT much space in my apartment, lol. Thanks in advance for the help!

Title says it all, my current laptop (Eluktronics MAG-15) has served me well, but it's getting a bit outdated, and it's time for an upgrade. My main use case is Lightroom and Photoshop photo editing, and in the near future I will be editing 4k video. In terms of needs/wants: 1) Needs to run windows. Just never jived with MacOS personally. 2) 15-17 inch screen, with good brightness and color accuracy. Would prefer a non-oled model, as I still get wigged out about burn in 3) Full-size SD card slot. I dislike having to carry an adapter if at all possible. 4) Large battery, I know it won't last long during editing, but for when I'm doing other work or random browsing it would be nice not to be tethered to the wall. 5) Upgradeability. It would be nice to be able to change storage/ram or replace a dying battery. 6) Good speakers. Upward firing if possible, for when I don't need headphones, good audio would be nice. As far as budget goes: anything up to about $2500 USD would work, but if it goes slightly over it's not a deal breaker. Thanks a million in advance

Budget (including currency): Euro Country: European Union Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video Editing & Gaming few times per month Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey community, It's time to get a completely new PC in the next 2 weeks and here is what I was looking for and for what I need. Video editing is something that is key point for this PC and sometimes playing a match or two of FPS games like Counter-Strike or Warzone. I'm buying a PC in Europe so my default store for searching components is https://www.mindfactory.de/ since they have most of the parts, cheaper than most of the competitors and they are of course in Europe (Germany). My budget is around 3500€ +- 200/300€ should not be a problem but I would love to get under 3500€ or even cheaper. Here is what I've built so far: MOBO: MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K 3 GHz 24-Core Processor CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 56.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler GPU: MSI SUPRIM X GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB Video Card --> Not sure if 4090 is worth of upgrading or not? Or should change with anything else? Case: missing, I totally have no clue which one should I grab..feel free to give suggestions. ATX Mid Tower should be fine for it? Case vents: 3x ARCTIC Case Fan BioniX P120 Edit: Two monitors will come after but I'm planning on 4k, IPS. Waiting for the best price since it skyrocket. Do I need G-Sync or does not matter? As I said, I'm not a professional video editor (yet) but I'm fully into it. If there is any part overpowered and some part that is not good enough and should be upgraded, let me know. Thanks

Hi! 12gb rtx 3060 or 8gb 3060ti - which one should I buy for video editing work? I will be using adobe premiere pro, after effects and davinci resolve. Which card will serve me for long time? I'm planning to use it for 4 years at least. How about RX 6700xt? Would that be a good option as well? Both rtx cards are available in my country and within my budget. The Amd card is a bit expensive.

Hi all! A small company in the Video Production industry is launching what they’re advertising to be the “world’s fastest SSD”. Many people are skeptical and I would love to know your thoughts. Is this a legitimate product or just “smoke”? Product page: https://tropiccolour.com/pages/osp-space-shuttle-ssd The company is “Tropic Colour”, which is backed by an entrepreneur named Jakob Owens. He owns a few other companies, all based around providing video production resources, and has somewhat of a polarizing reputation. These companies all rely on a very strong social media presence, and are making some very shocking claims on this new product. They’re giving it a fancy packaging and creating a bunch of hype around a product that doesn’t provide much in technical specifications. Tropic Colour have been very vocal on their Instagram marketing regarding this new SSD, and have been accused by many of just selling a NVMe SSD in a custom enclosure. Here are a few of their Instagram posts: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CrCUEjXgvR8/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://www.instagram.com/reel/CryN3XvJWtu/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://www.instagram.com/reel/CsJ5XGcgVXJ/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

So I recently picked up video editing and the quality is only 720p so I thought my PC which I built for gaming with a decent upgrade path but fairly low end parts to start with would do the job. But the render time is ridiculously slow. Here are the specs: i3 12100 64GBs of RAM (I got some free lol) ARC A750 WD BLACK 500GB NVME SSD all on a b660m asus tuf gaming. I will clarify that I am a complete noob to video editing and it's ins and outs. I do understand that it requires a good processor, but I felt that with an i3 12th gen that 720p shouldn't take that long but again I'm a noob to it. I'm looking for some advice on what I should upgrade to or if there is a setting I have messed up or something I'm doing wrong. Your help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Budget (including currency): $400-$500 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Filmora video editor, photoshop, lightroom. Other details (Have case NZXT H510, old BFG PSU (550W NOT INSTALLED),): Hi everyone I am new here, I'm 17 and looking to upgrade my 2015 Asus M32CD desktop, specs are: intel core i5-6400 @2.70GHz, 12GB ram, 2GB AMD FirePro GPU, and 1TB hybrid HDD(boot drive) plus more HDDs and an old samsung SSD (128GB). Video editing is slow and choppy even at 1080p and if pushed too hard crashes, In photoshop selecting and masking even small areas takes 20-60 seconds and even longer sometimes, and in lightroom selecting and applying presets can take 1-2 minutes. This is not ideal and I wish for a faster option that can also handle some 4K; not any RAW video just basic 4k from phones and my canon M50. While having these programs open task manager showed CPU 86-100% Ram usage 80-100%, and power consumption was High-very High. I presume that for video editing I need a better CPU and for PS and LR I need more RAM? If y'all don't mind could you help me find the right CPU, RAM, and possibly PSU? My budget is $400-$500USD. I have a NZXT H510 case laying around, a new coolermaster cooler (don't know model number), BFG BFGR550WGXPSU, and all my existing HDDs and SSDs. I suppose I might also need a new motherboard for new CPU. I run Windows 10, and have two 1080p displays with a third when I need it ( in the future I wish to ad a 4K display). I thinks that's all the info. Again I use this for Photoshop, lightroom, and video editing along with simple tasks like documents, YouTube, etc. I originally wanted a laptop but found the price to performance ratio too high (the Dell XPS 15 lives only in my dreams). This is not a gaming PC the only thing I play on it is the 2005 Star Wars Battlefront. I will be using this for work as a Head Media Director at my local summer camp as well as personal photo/video projects. P.S. I also use an old alpha networking adapter for wifi and wish to upgrade in the future. Thanks you

how do i upgrade my 32gb RAM to 64gb on a later time? Money constraints. That is why i just opted for a 32gb in the meantime so i can start on working. I do After Effects (video renders & editing, motion graphics, animation), Photoshop, graphic designs, some 3d modeling & sculpting. Recommended to me was to get a 64gb RAM for the creative work. Will use this all for work and no gaming. I got a G.Skill Ripjaws 32gb Dual kit / 3600mhz / ddr4 / cl16. Board- MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 (memory slots = 4) CPU- Intel i5 12600K So.... how do i upgrade my 32gb RAM as 64gb on a later time? 1. is it better if i should just replace it with a new 64gb (16gb x4 sticks) later? 2. or can i just add another dual 32gb (of same specs) making them a total of 4 sticks (32gb dual + 32gb dual) 3. Will there be an issues with my option2?? ...since i know it is recommended to get RAMs by kits and not mix 4. What will be the difference (for creative work, NO Gaming) of a 64gb-pack-of-4-sticks...VS...two-kits-of-dual32gbs(having 64gb in total)? Provided they have the same specs of 3600mhz / ddr4 / totaling 64gb. 5. Furthermore question in case you are still reading.... will there be an issue (there's always a "but") two-kits-of-dual32gbs if they have different latencies? For example- i have an existing cl16 from my 32gb dual kit today. But only cl18 (but same 32gb dual 3600) is available at the time i can buy/upgrade later. So, is there a big issue in this case?

Budget (including currency): USD $1,000 (+/- USD $100 if need be) Country: United States of America Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily live-streaming, minor editing workloads, running multiple programs at once (i.e. virtual webcam, OBS, audio software), games not current gen but as recent as approx. 2018 or so (i.e. the Bandai-Namco Tales series, Arma series) but as old as DOS-era Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Upgrading from an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U workstation, worked previously off of an old HP Workstation running a very dated Intel CPU that cost almost pennies to replace. Not expecting anything mind-blowing or competitive (definitely wanting to stick to an AMD focus, though), but definitely powerful enough that I'm not gonna drop frames and can run comfortably with while still having some room to upgrade later down the line. Made the mistake of cutting corners and buying a compact workstation in hopes I wouldn't need much more, but with my current plans, I don't feel confident that continues to be the case. Attaching a parts list from PC Part Picker of about as far as I've gotten, with the current cost hitting around USD $1,010.88; however, if it's at all possible to optimise it further I'd be greatly appreciative. I plan to also run it by my local PC parts store to get their take on things to make sure I'm making as much of an informed decision as possible. Trying to keep a black and red motif going, but if I have to make adjustments based on cost, I might drop that entirely and save appearances for when I have a bit more cash to play around with. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the huge wall of text!

My current main monitor is 27" 1080p https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/monitors/gaming/66a3gccbus it's better than my other 2 which I use as my side and vertical monitors. My side monitors are one of the budget AOC monitors and I was looking to replace my main with 1440p or higher for gaming and coding (my main job). I have a laptop that is 2880 x 1800 OLED and my god even though its 14" I prefer it for coding just because of how readable everything is. I may need glasses but I honestly prefer the OLED clean look especially when consuming media. The main reason I am asking for help is because I really don't just myself to research and buy a monitor I will not regret (also a bit afraid of buying an OLED for my desktop because I use my computer probably more than 12 hours a day every day). My budget is probably around $800 but cheaper is preferred. If my dream monitor really is a dream for that price I am still open to see what all my options are. In advance thanks for you help if you decide to comment Also I might want to replace my vertical with a flat monitor because currently it is a curved TN panel 1080p. -- Edit I say OLED but I believe IPS also is pretty clear if I'm not mistaken (I literally have only ever seen TN and VA panels ) -- Edit 2 Just saw the QLED Alienware https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-AW3423DW-34-18-inch-3440x1440-Curvature/dp/B09VQ48X5Q and honestly I would be down for an ultrawide (I always blow up my budget lol) -- Edit 3 The Odyssey OLED G8 looks insane

Hello everyone, We are a small business with 4 employees that do video editing and animation. I am not that knowledgable about NAS but i know what we need: 1. 4 or more HDD slots 2. Enough speed for at least 3 PCs to watch 4k footage at the same time 3. Is it possibe that we do all of our editing and exports right at the NAS drives? As in just eliminate the need to copy files on PC drives. 4. Raid ofc The last think i am not sure how people do is how do i connect all 4 PCs with ethernet cables when all of the NASs have like 1 or 2 ethernet slots. I probably need some kind of an adapter right? Thank you in advance for your help.
