Hey, so I myself would avoid getting used parts but my friend is buying a 500 Euro PC before Christmas that he plans to game on. Considering his tiny budget, we were wondering if it's worth buying any parts used and if so, which ones? I have a case, a hdd and psu and a xfx 6850 black edition from my old rig I could sell him but the real question is would he be better off buying better parts used/new or use the ones I have and buy what he is missing? Hi! For Christmas, I thought I could offer my dad a small PC (no need to be a high-end gaming PC) for him to plug on the TV and play X-Plane 10, and maybe later X-Plane 11 and Microsoft Flight Sim 2020. For now, I managed to take my old rig (The first PC I have ever bought and manage to game on it for 65$ total) Which is a Core 2 Quad Q9400, 6GB of DDR2 RAM and a GT710. I will also add a 1TB hard drive in it. For this, I will need a new case, since the old one doesn't even had any drive bays beside for the optical drive, and a new power supply since the old one is a SFX form factor. The computer will run on a 1080p 46" TV through HDMI. The case will likely be a Deepcool Matrexx 30 (39.99$ on Newegg + 10$ Shipping) or anything you can think is better. I don't have any idea for a power supply, so any suggestion below 50$ (CAN) would be welcomed! Also, if there is a better CPU that can fit the motherboard (LGA 775, DDR2 Memory) and a better GPU for 75$ or less in total on Ebay, it could be also great. Thanks!

So i recently purchased an I5-2500k and an asus p8p67 rev 3 motherboard from a friend for 75$, but i have had nothing but issues since buying. I am running at abnormal temperatures, and have nooo idea why, I have reseated the heatsink 4 times, 3 with artic silver, one with lepa thermal paste. the lepa did fairly well at first but after a week of not useing the pc, i booted the pc up and was running mid 60c-80c.... the lowest i had the cpu running at idle is around 42, but that doesnt last long. So after some minor research, and useing task manager/open hardware monitor, i have realized this cpu is running at 1.36? volts.and is clocking in at 4.3.... this processor is only rated at 3.3-3.7 turbo. so my new issue is, what are the stock specs i need to input to bring this thing back to stock, because i have noooo idea. Before yall ask, room stays around 80ish degrees F. house is set to 78 but my main pc and my devices boost the temp up a bit. Im hopeing my stock cooler is still sufficent to bring this back to stock, all i built this pc for was to run overwatch on like low/med, maybe some gta on med, and mostly just use it as a youtube and twitch stream machine (just an entertainment pc, since xbox is gonna stop supporting the 360 soon) The Picture is my latest application of paste useing the smear pattern with a small xtra blob in the middle to oooze out (bout the size of a BB) and it is brand new atric silver 5. Also, if i have to redo the thermal again........ how much paste does intel like? my main pc is running a fx 8350 with a 240mm lepa AIO (where the lepa paste came from) and i have had noooo issues with that, i run max like 40 degrees. I5 2500k asus p8p67 = $75 msi r9 270x 2gb = $100 Cooler master 430 elite = laying around 8gb Crucibal Balistics = $28 240 gb adata SSD = $57 Corsair CX500M = $35 a beat of a machine for the price, if i can get running.... So I've been a PC enthusiast for a few years and I know a good amount already, but I'm new to water cooling in that I've never personally done it. I'm planning on getting a good deal on a lot of used parts soon that includes two bottles of ancient water cooling fluid- Feser One, in pastel green and purple. Having little experience or knowledge of premixed fluids, are these useful for anything anymore? I know antifreeze for vehicles has a very long shelf life (decade+) but that's not really apples to apples (as Linus discovered back in whole room watercooling ). The rig & loop I'd be using it in is not especially valuable so I'm willing to take risks if you think it's okay, just want to know beforehand if anyone knows for sure the stuff is useless. Also- if using a premix like this, would I still need a kill coil or other additives? I know premixed fluids are supposed to have biocide and anti-corrosives in them already but would the same hold true for this old stuff? Thanks for the help.

PSU Corsair CX500 (500 watts) Cooling Raijintek Triton 140-blue (the new model, not the one that leaks everywhere) As you can see, the parts list is all over the board, and this build really doesn't make much sense. Much of this is due to upgrades that I made later down the line (For example, I received the water cooler as a Christmas gift). Since these parts don't really make sense together, I figured it would be hard to sell as a whole package. I have a few questions about this subject, however: (repeat) What is a rough estimate of how much I could expect to get for these parts? Do you think it would be better to part the system out and sell each component individually? Is it even worth selling the whole system and starting fresh, or should I just upgrade? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking of getting two used Xeon E5-1660 CPUs, along with a 64gb set of ECC RAM, and eventually a Titan X, all for my main computer, along with most likely a 10gbps network card for both my workstation and my NAS. Which will be used for everything I do, video editing, 3D modeling and rendering, gaming etc. Looking for some dual LGA2011 motherboard suggestions(needs to be a standard form factor). And any tips people might have on what other hardware I could run, or recommendations on cases I can use for an E-ATX/SSI CEB motherboard.

Looking to get some help for spec'ing out a workstation for some adobe work and maybe a little gaming. I don't play games of this gen. the newest I play on PC is rFactor. I'm just looking to keep it cheap, simple, and easy to afford being 16.

Recently i've been toying with the idea of buying used pc parts for a build from ebay, something mid range. What attracted me to the idea was the possibility of getting a high performance part for perhaps near half the cost. Though buying used parts isn't something i've really done till recently, where i bought a used part to fix someones pc. (told them it was used btw) So here i am asking you guys' advice on the matter, what are your pros, cons or experiences with buy used parts....particularly from ebay would be helpful. Planning a build, and i was wondering what the danger, if any of buying used graphics cards and cpus. They would be coming from the used section of amazon, but I still had some concerns regarding their performance. Have any of you guys had any experience buying and running used parts? Any tips?

I'm spending around $1,200 in all for everything and wanted to know if this is a good build for 1440p gaming at 60 FPS: Dell Optiplex 9020 FFF ($550) i7 4790 16 GB of DDR3 RAM 2x 500GB HDDs Windows 7 Pro I'm planning on getting a used GTX 980Ti for around $300. I'm also going to get a new ASUS PB277Q monitor which is around $300. I'm planning on putting a $50 HyperX 120GB SSD in it as a boot drive and I have an old Seagate 2TB SSHD that I'm going to use for game storage. I think the PC comes with a free Windows 10 Pro update. Do you guys think I can do better with a custom build or is this good. Are the prices good?
