hi guys, i have a gtx 1660 ,16gb ram(dual channel)at 3200mhz,600watt psu and a r7 1700 and i play fortnite competitively at 144fps and i figured my fps drops and stutters must be a result of low gpu and cpu usage ,btw ive updated every driver,my motherboard's bios and re installed windows but its still the same.My gpu usage is always around 40% ,my cpu is at 30% and the game only uses around 2.3gb of my ram, i want to get the most out of these and i need ur help to fix these issues.

Hey Everybody, About a month ago my brother told me that the computer he uses primarily for gaming was having some-type of CPU usage problem; when he launched a game it would go to 100% usage and would say "Very High Power Usage" in Task Manager. Not long after this random problem started, the motherboard had a burning smell, and the board completely failed. I obtained a new power supply, ordered a new board, and put the computer back together again just yesterday. Here's the problem: every time I launch a game the CPU usage gets really high, usually 100%, then hoovers around 60-70%- But the real problem is that power supply fans ramp up to about 100%, and task manager says "Very High Power Usage" for the game, and after just a few rounds the computer automatically, and without warning, restarts itself. It doesn't matter what game I'm opening. I believe it has to be restarting itself because the power demands are far too high for the computer to withstand, and this problem is probably what shorted the last board out. I am not running any new equipment (except the replacement board and new PSU). Any ideas as to what is causing this odd high power usage problem only when gaming? I inluded a photo of temps and the power usage demand from task manager below too. Thank you very much in advance for the help! I also don't believe the PSU is under anytype of power strain. We used to have 2 gpu's in here, but I removed one just to reduce power draw and it is still having the problem. Is there a good download to see PC power usage myself just to make sure that's true?

I have a dell precision t3500 and I am looking into upgrading to a better graphics card. I am considering getting a 1650 (no external power cable) or a 1650 super. The stock power supply has 525 watts, and the cpu is an intel xeon x5687 consuming 130 watts. I have 16gb ddr3 ram, and a 1 tb hard drive. I am not sure if it can handle either of those so that is why I came here.

Hi I have noticed that my PC is using about 11 GB of ram which is high because I am not using that much of it. 2.5 GB Chrome 1 GB Android emulator 1 GB other apps how much windows 10 pro is using ? 5.5 GB ? I had a laptop with 6 GB of ram and never got above 5GB usage with chrome open! it is not a problem really unless I am working on AutoDesk programs or Adobe. I looked around trying to find apps to monitor Ram usage in details but couldn't find any. Any thought where is the 5.5 is or how I can find it XD or is windows really use that much ? My PC specs R9 3950x RTX 2070 Super MSI Meg Unify x570 G.skill Ripjaws 32 GB 3600 CL16 Corsair MP510 480GB another SSD 128 thank you.

Recently I've seen someone report about how Task Manager is inaccurate for CPU Utilization because it relies on the Base Frequency to calculate the CPU Utilization which is completely ridiculous as almost none of the CPUs these days run at those frequencies because of the boost functionality that is becoming more and more prevalent even in the low end. Another view of this is what if Microsoft wanted to focus on the majority instead to provide a more accurate tool *as they claim* in the article below, because custom built PCs are considerably lower in sales, well some OEMs might disable the boost functionality but not all of them do, HP for example lets the CPU Boost behave as intended which is arguably the biggest PC pre-built vendor, it's safe to say that most processors never run at Base Frequency. ---TESTING--- Onto the tests though, I've tested the CPU at different loads using this tool https://github.com/GaetanoCarlucci/CPULoadGenerator/tree/Python3/ I have an 8700K that is overclocked to 4.6Ghz while the Base Frequency is at 3.7Ghz, that's a 24% overclock over base, the Base Frequency is taken into consideration in Windows but my processor never goes below 4.6Ghz. 50% CPU Load 80% CPU Load 100% CPU Load This is where Task Manager becomes the most misleading because it is artificially limited to 100% when Resource Monitor is not, so in my scenario if the CPU load (reported by HWiNFO) is above 80% then Task Manager will report 100% because Microsoft has decided that a percentage scale should be between 0 and ??? because it calculates the percentages based on the Base Frequency where in my case the percentage scale in Resource Monitor is from 0% to 124%. That's not all though because in Resource Monitor the CPU column for the individual processes is actually being reported accurately, same in the Details Tab in Task Manager but not the Processes Tab or the Performance Tab, what's with all the discrepancy? it doesn't make any sense. ---Turbo Boost and Microsoft's response--- It becomes even more of a problem when the C-States are enabled and the CPU underclocks itself lower than base on idle then the usage reported by Windows will be lower than the actual CPU Utilization, you could test it yourself by underclocking your CPU lower than base and run a full core load, the CPU usage will never reach 100% in either Task Manager or Resource Monitor, and from my research it seems like this change was made in Windows 8 but back then they let Task Manager behave the same as Resource Monitor by letting it go above 100%. Here's the article that Microsoft released: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3200459/cpu-usage-exceeds-100-in-task-manager-and-performance-monitor-if-intel From my understanding they released this article because people kept reporting this as they didn't understand why this was happening, but it's quite appalling that their solution to this in later versions was to slap on a bandage fix and limit Task Manager to 100% so people would stop complaining, though from how they're phrasing it I'm assuming the intended purpose is to take Turbo Boost into account? but that's not what's happening here and even Microsoft themselves don't understand how percentages work because they say in the article "A processor that’s running 50% of the time and clocked down to 50% frequency performs only half the work of a processor that’s running 100% of the time at 100% frequency" that's not true, a processor that's at half the frequency and is running half the time will perform QUARTER the work of one that is running at 100% frequency and 100% of the time. Another thing I've noticed is the Third-party disclaimer on the bottom "The third-party products that this article discusses are manufactured by companies that are independent of Microsoft. Microsoft makes no warranty, implied or otherwise, about the performance or reliability of these products." Is Task Manager made by another company? or is that a general statement?

Hi, i have an issue with my rig, this is driving my crazy but i got a pretty new pc (1 year or so) and this are the specs: CPU: Intel I7 8700 GPU: ASUS Nvidia 1080 TI RAM: 16 gb DDR4 Single Channel 2900 mhz Every component has the latest update available (windows, gpu, cpu, etc) The thing is, EVERY game i play on 1080p has the same issue: The CPU usage is higher than the GPU, sometimes by a huge percentage while other times it's a smaller range I dont know what to do about it, whenever i go to 2K or 4K (using Nvidia DSR) the GPU fires up sometimes at 95% or 99% but at those resolutions the fps take a huge hit, wich is not ideal, considering the fact that i have a 1080p monitor. What should i do? This is driving me crazy and i dont want to play on 2K or 4K, there's gotta be another solution right?

Hi, so I've been using MSI Afterburner as my go-to program for monitoring my CPU and GPU statistics, but I've gotten to the point where the left-most portion of the actual program is going to waste since I don't actually overclock my graphics card. (It's stock OC'd anyway) What do you guys recommend as a new, clean, simple, all-in-one hardware monitor? Something like this below would be nice:

After building my new PC I've noticed that the FPS and GPU Usage in Rocket League has been very low. I have GTX 980 Ti with a Ryzen 1700 on a b350 plus motherboard, as well as two 8gb ram sticks both at 3200mhz. Other games run fine. PUBG, for example, runs around 100fps at ultra settings. Rocket league on the other hand, barely reaches 100fps with highest settings, while my friend who has a GTX 1060 gets nearly 200fps in Rocket League. Strange thing is that my GPU usage stays at 30-50% while playing Rocket League, unlike in other games where it easily reaches 90-100%. GPU's temperature stays at 50-60C in RL. I've already tried the following: Changed some settings in NVIDIA Control Panel (https://imgur.com/r/RocketLeague/r6YMc) Reinstalled GPU Drivers. Disabled Shadowplay. Messed with Rocket League's in-game settings, tried fullscreen, borderless, vsync on and off, and the lowest settings, which helped only 10-20fps. Changed GPU's PCIe slot. I'm kinda helpless now, don't know what to try next. I've been thinking about getting myself a 120hz monitor, but if I can't even reach the required framerate I might as well buy a second 60hz monitor... Thanks in advance, Aksu255

So in games like gta 5 and battlefield titles i notice more than other games like the division, overwatch, and destiny 2 that my gpu usage is awful if i try playing in 1080p instead of 1440p. For instance in battlefield 1 and in the battlefield 5 alpha lowering the resolution to 1080p yields no difference in FPS and i noticed it also lowers gpu usage to 50-70% instead of 80-99%. What i have noticed is both of these example games i just named are more cpu heavy games but in gta's case the cpu usage never goes over 70%. Im running the gtx 1080 ti paired with an i7 8700k at stock speeds still and 16gb of ddr4 at 3200mhz. i should also point out temps are fine as well cpu never goes over 80c at 100% usage and gpu never goes over 70c at 100% usage.

So I just made an account on this site because I do have a problem while I'm playing games. I bought a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB not so long ago since I built my first PC while I first got the GPU, and I did'nt have any problems with it until I started playing NFS Payback and Forza Horizon 3. The problem is that after a good 30min of playing these two games, 5-10 fps drops every 10-30 seconds, nothing that's really making the game unplayable but it is a bit annoying. But after some minutes the fps drops increase and the game stutters, and some minutes after that the fps drops from the high 80's to 5 and the game also freezes for a second and then continues on and all of this just goes in a loop. I first thought the problem was the temperature of the GPU so i put the GPU fans to 95 and did'nt see a difference. But then I checked the GPU usage and noticed it was going from a 100 to 0 after 30min of gaming. I still don't know why it does. I don't know if it's because my i3 8100 that is a bottleneck or something else. I've also tried to downclock the GPU from it's oc to see if that made any difference, and it did'nt. Maybe I'm just dumb and can't see the clear issue or it's something with the GPU. Also when the GPU is in use, for example used in gaming, it makes a highly pitched buzzing sound, don't know if this is normal or if this is the issue. Anyway would be glad if someone helped since i've had this problem for a long time now (if this is to any help, this is what I'm currently running: i3 8100 (3.6GHz), GTX 970 4GB, 2x4GB 2666MHz corsair vengeance ram, MSI z370 gaming pro motherboard, temporarily a corsair vs650 650w PSU which is 80+, stock cpu cooler, 4 stock fans that came with the h440 case, WD blue 120gb m.2 ssd, 2TB seagate HDD and some phanteks extension cables.)

Just noticed this on my machine too. High spec machine but high cpu use after the video's been playing for a while. Found out this is a problem with the YouTube Ratings Preview Plugin. Essentially it is adding lots of DOM elements on top of each other, you will see it if you right click and inspect on the rating bar.

Hello, so for the past few months my GPU has not been able to pass 40% usage and I have tried a couple of things and had to replace the PSU and motherboard for other reasons. It's not thermal throttling because the max temp is around 65c and the CPU isn't bottlenecking since its sitting around 20% usage. I just formatted my SSD and HDD, did a fresh install of windows, reset the BIOS, and it doesn't change. Drivers are all up to date as well. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 1700X on water GPU: EVGA 1070 SC on water RAM: Corsair Vengence DDR4 MOBO: MSI x470 Gaming Plus PSU: Corsair CX750m Any suggestions help. Thank you! DxDiag.txt

Hey guys recently i posted this thread here regarding my bottlenecking issue And it turns out that the issue causing this was the cpu usage being stuck at 100% the whole time so i tried almost all the fixes in that thread except for reinstalling which i did today to no avail Litterally the moment windows was ready to use i opened task manager and it instantly showed me 100% cpu even after the cleanest windows format install so right now im pretty damn down and confused onto how is this happning to me could it be that i installed the cpu incorrectly or some bios/hardware issue causing this i dont know so im hoping this issue will fixed soon by the help of you guys SPECS Zotac 1070ti amp xtreme i58600k 850w PSU z370 pc pro mobo 16gb ram

So I wanted to listen to music and I ran Spotify on my phone, I fell asleep and woke up the next day with the phone still playing music, it's been charging and listening to music for about 7-8 hours on my S9+ (quick charging) The battery obviously didn't get to 100% I'm usually a careful person battery wise and I've only had this phone for less than a month. How much damage have I caused it?

Hi, I have a problem with my pc (Ryzen 3/8GB/850 Evo SSD/1050TI). I have 100% disk usage ALL THE TIME (10mb/s read and write max). This began last week and came out of nowhere. I built this pc last October. So the ssd is at 100% usage all the time and it takes over 30 minutes to boot into windows 10. Nothing is using the disk... So when i try the disk on another pc, it works with no issues. I have tried everything to fix it from software/os. I have not changed any uefi/bios settings. I have tried every solution from google. My pc does not work with any other Hdd/ssd either. Can someone please help I cant do anything on my pc. :((( what could cause the problem? EDIT: The SSD is a brand new. Bought brand new 1/2018, works on any other pc just fine.

Hi, I've been experiencing a lot of RAM usage on my computer. I have two 4gb of ram, I know it is really not enough for 2018, but the prices are pretty high right now and I am waiting for them to drop. My question is - Is there a way to lower my RAM usage? Here is a screenshot

Hi, having a bit of trouble with a recent PC I built and I felt this was the best place to go. Here is a link to my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NfZqkd Essentially my computer is working too hard for the tasks it’s doing. When I open OBS I get at least 50% usage (with no recording or streaming turned on). However, when I open stream LABs OBS (suppose to be less taxing for your cpu) it jumps up to 100%. This obviously doesn’t make sense, since I have an older pc with lower grade part and it works better than this. I’m getting a better radiator, to test if it thermal throttling, but I doubt it. I believe it has something to do with the motherboard or the CPU may be damaged. If anyone has any ideas, I’m open for trying them. Thanks

Hey guys can you recommend me a program that measures the power usage of my computer? Would be great to also see temperatures of components. Thanks in advance!!

Hey guys, I just built a new PC with an Intel 8400 and 8GB of 2400 RAM. I am noticing high RAM usage when idle with no application or windows open. I understand that Windows 10 uses a decent amount of RAM when idle but I didnt think this much. There is also a good amount of my RAM being used a cached RAM? Will this RAM be freed up for application when it is needed? I have posted a picture for better understanding. Thanks

Hello everyone! I have a Toshiba satellite c55-a5308 laptop, and it has 100% disk usage all the time. It makes it impossible to do anything at all. I've tried everything you can find on any other forum or video, such as: | Disabling windows search Disabling superfetch Disabling prefetch Checking the power to the drive Changing the 5400rpm drive to a "Seagate 2tb FireCuda Gaming SSHD (2.5")" Using an ssd Updating windows Reverting to the first public windows 10 build Checking antivirus Resetting virtual memory Performing disk check Checking StorAHCI.sys driver And anything else you can find | Please help me, as my laptop is unusable in this current state, and I really don't want to buy a new laptop yet, as I am saving up for a decent laptop.

Hello everyone I watched some videos and I am really confused now! You all know about new AMD 1800x and Intel 8700k, they both are great, but what is happening with the fps in games? I watched these videos and noticed the same thing: AMD has lower CPU usage but it also limits the GPU a little, so the FPS is lower. With Intel the GPU is always on 90-100%, with AMD its like 70-90%. What is going on here? Normally if you have powerfull CPU, it should be able to stress the GPU completely and game should have more FPS. But this is not happening here. (Most of these games are pretty good with more cores and still this result?) Or does it depends only on the clockspeed of cores? Please help me to understand it... I am playing FinalFantasy XV and my i5 4460 is mostly between 60-95% usage. My RX580 8Gb is all the time complitely at 100% so I cannot udnerstnad, why in these videos games have less FPS with less CPU usage. Sorry for my bad english, I tried my best

Hi , so i own a rx480 and when i turn instant replay on from the amd drivers it instantly bumps up the usage to 80-85% even if my pc in in idle , instant replay is set to 3 minutes at the bitrate of 30mbps so it shouldnt go anywhere close to that percentage of usage especially when the video card should be idle pretty much in windows .. can anyone help me out or tell me if i configured something wrong thanks!
