I built it around 2012 following a Toms Hardware guide and since only upgraded the CPU, GPU and added some RAM and Storage. Some things I have in mind are: 1. Graphics Card I recently got into AI image generation and want to upgrade to a graphics card with more VRAM and thought about buying a RTX4080 16GB, I'm unsure whether or not there are cheaper/better options, but if so they are welcome! 2. Motherboard Since my Asus PRIME B350-PLUS is quite old and since I still have my old CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 1600) and GPU (GTX 1070), I thought about upgrading the MoBo in my current PC and to build a second PC with the old one to use as a NAS/host game servers etc. . Preferably with multiple M.2 Slots. 3.CPU I want to get a faster CPU preferably with more cores too as I'm afraid it'll bottleneck my system down the line. Since I get a new Motherboard I might as well jump platform if it's worth it. So either Intel or AMD. 4.PSU My current 650W PSU might not suffice anymore if I get a GPU upgrade so some recommendations for a new one would be appreciated. 5.RAM I don't know if my old RAM sticks are still good speed or not, so maybe I should change those too? Maybe even DDR5 if those are worth it by now. Sorry if this is asking a lot, I'm an Software Engineer but know pretty much nothing about hardware so any help is appreciated!

I am using a HP Z8 G4 Workstation currently fitted with 2x Xeon 5122. Looking at the product specifications for supported CPUs, it is an incomplete list of Xeons from this generation. I am considering upgrading the CPUs to 2 x Xeon 8173M, but am having a hard time finding out if this CPU is *actually* supported by the MB. I have tried to contact HP technical, but yeah, good luck with that..... Are there *any* reasons this CPU is not supported by the system? It could be specified with a even higher end CPU in the Xeon 8180

I need some help, what should I upgrade first in my pc? Fortnite on the lowest settings is running at like 80-150 fps when actively playing but goes up to 250-300 fps when looking at the ground. What will give me that extra fps. I would like tips on both what will make the most difference and what will be most budget friendly.

As per the title, would it be worth it to take advantage of the upcoming end of the return window to upgrade? the return window for my R5 5600 closes on the 31st Jan. Good day LTT, I am currently planning a major performance upgrade for my gaming PC. It currently has an i7-7700k and 2070 SUPER. I play at 1080p, aiming for 144hz (or 60hz on less competitive titles), and as much detail as possible without sacrificing FPS. While I play a variety of games (genre and age), several recent newer titles (Returnal, Spiderman, HZD, CS2, among others) have been unable to maintain FPS relevant to their genre and I would like to upgrade. I am fairly sold on the AMD 7800X3D on the CPU side (and 32GB of DDR5, up from my current 16GB), but for the GPU, I am less sure. Here are some of my thoughts: Budget: $500-$600. This is what I spent last time for my 2070 SUPER and I would like to stay in this price class this time. I am ok with used from a reputable seller. Resolution: 1080p. I am happy with my current monitor, and don't have any immediate plans to go to another resolution anytime soon. I may get a 4K TV but couch gaming will be limited to more casual titles over steamlink, so I am ok with less performance here. FPS: As close to 144hz as possible for all titles. I do like to play some faster-paced titles and I like smooth fast frames. 60 FPS minimum is my goal in non-competitive or fast-paced games. Detail level: Many recent games have required me to adjust the details noticeably low to maintain 60 FPS minimum. I do use Ray Tracing where available Longevity: I am hoping to have this card remain viable for most titles (again, I'm not always playing the newest stuff, but having a variety) for ~4 yrs, which is seeming like my normal GPU upgrade cycle. CPU will likely stay for at least 5 years. Non-Gaming Usage: I don't do much rendering or productivity that hits the GPU, but I do regularly stream to twitch, currently on the nvenc encoder To those ends, I am currently between one of the 4070 cards (base Super, TI, TI Super) or a used 3080/3080 TI. Budget (including currency): $130 Country: Canada My Hp laptop (Probook 445 G8) I just got from eBay has an inferior 250 nit 45% sRGB screen 1080p (hp part no. M47408-001). I want to upgrade the screen with one that is compatible within the service manual. I want the 400 nit 100% sRGB 1080p screen (hp part no. M47409-001) found on page 9 of 90 in the service manual http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c07012041.pdf Problem is I don’t know the model number that Samsung or LG or AOU or whoever assigned to this screen. The suppliers like laptopscreen.com and blisscomputers.com don’t have product specifications for the screens they carry other than resolution and whether it a 30 or 40 connector. I called them and they have model numbers only and only know if it is compatible. If I order I could get a worse screen than what I have since there are 9 screen variants. They need a model number if I want a screen that performs to my specs. I called HP multiple times and they don’t know and if they did they won’t tell me. They do sell the screen on hp.parts.com for $588 when I know that screen costs $100 elsewhere online. Does anyone have the model number for the the 400 nit 100% sRGB 1080p screen (hp part no. M47409-001)? It can be found on the back of that lcd panel in an HP Probook with that screen.

Hi there guys. I'm trying to build a new system for a friend of mine working as a web developer on Linux/PopOS. 1. Budget & Location Budget for this build will be around 1500€ (~1600$), we are located in France. 2. Aim The aim here is to upgrade a 6-year-old build that is starting to show its age. He currently has a 7700K and a 1050Ti with 32GB of RAM. No gaming, no video or photo editing, just coding/programming with a lot of open tabs, web browsing etc. 3. Monitors He has 2x 32" 4K monitors (LG 32UN500) 4. Peripherals No additional peripherals needed, he mostly uses Linux and switches back to Windows from time to time. 5. Why are you upgrading? He just wants to upgrade to something a little bit faster and snappier as he has started to notice some lags in his workflow. For the CPU, I was thinking about the Ryzen 9 5900X as it's getting quite cheap and seems like a good value for the money (370€). Mobo, a decent B550 board with wifi (maybe the MSI Gaming Edge Wifi if I can find one available). RAM will probably be 32/64GB DDR4 with a decent clock but maybe I need to consider the infinity fabric here ? Let me know. My biggest interrogation is with the GPU, I know a web dev doesn't really need one but since he's using 2x 4K monitors I was debating whether or not more VRAM could be beneficial (he currently has 4GB). I was thinking about the RTX 3060 12GB but it's sitting at 399€ currently which is way above MSRP. Let me know your thoughts on this ! Thanks !

Hi Guys! I know this has probably been in alot of discussions, considering the 4070 Ti Super is releasing this week. Wanted to ask, truthfully, if it's worth upgrading from a RTX 3080 to a 4070 Ti Super. I have considered the 4080 Super, but I'm not sure at the moment. I think the price point for the 4070 Ti Super is what's capturing me. I've also heard, from other people, to wait for the 5000 series GPU, so I'm just conflicted pretty much. I currently have an AM4 motherboard with 5800x3D so I think going to a 5000 series GPU might be overkill since I plan on maxing out my AM4 board to its fullest. And really at that point...idk how well a 5000 series card would match with a Ryzen 7 5000 series CPU. Let me know what you guys think.

I currently have an I9 12900KS in my machine right now, which I use mainly use for gaming. But I'm planning to get into some Blender work/3d modeling and rendering, etc. I'm planning on upgrading my CPU, and I'm trying to see which CPU would be a good upgrade. I'm planning to go on AM5, and I'm looking at either 7950X for work, or maybe the 7950X3D for a gaming boost on some off time. I'm torn on which one to go for. Any advice?

Hi everyone! I got a budget PC back in 2019, and it provided a pretty good experience. However, with the onset of C0V1D, home office, and online schooling, I didn't have much time to use the PC. During this period, I upgraded to Win11, which did work just fine because I primarily used Teams or remote desktop for work with no problems. I'm now facing issues with regular tasks like browsing, using Word, working with photos and videos, etc. Strangely, gaming works perfectly fine without any hiccups (playing Metro Exodus and Horizon). When using the PC, my mouse moves fine, but everything else seems frozen, as shown in the video, same with typing, the text apears after several second even a minute after last key stroke. I even did a fresh install of Windows day ago, but the problem persists after few minutes of usage. I only have a few programs installed (OrcaSlicer, Bambulab Studio, Edge, Notepad++). I know one solution could be reverting to Win10, but I'd prefer to find a reasonable fix or maybe even cheap PC upgrade. I uploaded some screenshots of my system below. I did some research and consulted others before reaching out here. There are a few things that could be related: The main issue might be switching to W11 with a CPU that probably lacks TPM or something related. While technically unsupported, the only mentioned reason was TPM, some IT guys described that as "not necessary" but still required by W11. I tried bypassing TPMCheck and SecureBootCheck in the registry and updated to W11. ( Windows 11 supported AMD processors ) Is that really that important? There was a known problem with AMD CPUs Intermittent System Stutter Experienced with fTPM Enabled on Windows® 10 and 11 I'm not sure if it applies to me since I don't have TPM and it woked fine with W10. Would trying the workaround with hardware TPM be a solution? Additionally, I was thining about BIOS update, but the motherboard manufacturer advises against it for my CPU architecture. However, the articles suggest that newer BIOS versions fix the issue with the TPM. Could you offer any suggestions or share your thoughts on this, please? I'm aware that I messed up my PC with that update, but what are my options now? So im looking at different cpu mobo combos, im thinking about upgrading my GFs rig, she currently has an 8700k at 4.8ghz - Me myself i have an 13600kf and its great, but with the release of intels 14gen i was looking at maybe getting her a 14600k, but reviewing benchmarks they seem to performe the same? Anyways, what would you upgrade to? She mainly plays CS2 and PUBG, im thinking the ram and gpu can stay, its a 4x8gb 3200kit and the gpu is a rtx 2060 13600kf where i live costs around 300$ (mobo about 150$) 14600k cost about 400$ (same mobo, 150$) 5800x3d 440$ (mobo around 150-200$)

I am planning on upgrading from my 10th gen i5 to a i9 or i7 11th gen. As well I was planning to upgrade my RX 6600 to a RX 6800. Is a 600 watt bronze rated PSU going to keep up? On paper it will but in practice should I go for a higher wattage?

Hello, I recently got a new GPU 4070 Ti and was planning to install it into my existing PC. Before doing so I figured since the min requirement PSU for that GPU is 750w (which is what I currently have) I would purchase a new PSU to hopefully give myself a better threshold and power management. Unfortunately things did not go as planned. Current PC: Tuf Gaming X570-PLUS (WI-FI) AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor G.Skill DDR4 8gb Ram (X2) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6gb EVGA 750w Bronze Power Supply New PSU Corsair RM1000x(have not installed but want to) New GPU 4070 Ti (have not installed but want to) Everything works in this configuration from initial installation. No overclocking has been done. Now on to the issue, I fully disconnected the 750w PSU and connected the new PSU RM1000x back up just as it was removed and ran into an issue. Still using all the same original parts just with the 1000w PSU I have MB power and GPU power (1060) but when I go to hit the power button i get a flash of everything as if it turn on for one second then turns off again. Then without cutting the power off I try to hit the power button again nothing happens. I have also Cycled the power switch on the PSU (750w) and tried it again and same thing. Thing I have done: Checked the 24 pin Checked the 8 pin CPU connector Checked to make sure i have the correct cables Used out of the box original cables Tested the PSU and confirmed it is working correctly Tried booting without GPU (1060) Re-seated Ram Re-Seated CPU Reset Bios to Default I know the MB is still working fine because once I reinstalled the 750w PSU everything boots and works just as it has been. Please help I'm running out of ideas and the GPU was a gift from my Girl and she is questioning why I haven't installed it yet. (don't want her thinking I don't appreciate it.)

Hello I want to upgrade my CPU since it seems to be bottlenecking my GPU but am unsure on what to choose and there are over 3 billion videos on youtube that I cannot begin to go through. here's what I currently have: CPU: i5 7600k GPU: RTX 2070 Super OC 8G Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z270P-D3 LGA1151 Intel Z270 RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Monitor: 3440 x 1440 I don't really have a budget but I wouldn't want to spend more than $1000. I was thinking of an i7 9700k but like I said, I have been overloaded with how many youtube videos I've come across. I don't think my GPU needs upgrading but I'm no expert. Any advice would be welcome, whether you recommend that I get a new motherboard, monitor, ram, gpu or cooler (I have the Cooler Master RR-212L-16PR-R1) I don't know if future proofing is a thing that would be recommended as well but any advice would be appreciated. I currently have a 'mpg z490 gaming edge wifi' paired with an 'intel i5 10400F' and a 'NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 super' my gpu is always running perfectly and in know that there is a CPU bottleneck there so i was wondering if anybody could give me a hand ive been researching for a few days but have ofund no real progress in a decision. at this point in time im seeing the 'Intel i5 12600' but i cannot find it anywhere thats not sold out so then my choice of the 'MSI PRO B760-P WIFI DDR4 ATX' goes out of the window because i need to change my motherboard to correspond witht he right socket size can anyone give me any advise on how to mopve forward wiht this problem id be willing to spend around £300 for the new motherboard and the CPU but if its slight more i wouldnt mind either. thanks.

My current setup is: CPU: Intel i7-8700k (OC 5 GHz) MoBo: Asus ROG Strix Z370 Gaming-E PSU: EVGA G2 850W PSU GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080 Ti Monitor: Asus ROG PG348 (G-Sync Ultrawide- 3440x1440, 100Hz Refresh Rate) So the two options I have been thinking about are: ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB ProArt OC Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB NITRO+ Vapor-X Graphics Card Both cards are priced the same at £810 ($1025 USD) I do a bit of gaming, racing sims (asseto corsa, projects cars, forza, eurotruck sim) also play FPS (COD BO, CS and similar) as well as games such as flight sim, shadow of the tomb raider and city skylines similar. I also do cad modeling using Solidworks and a bit of autocad. I do use photoshop and Lightroom for photo editing. The system is in a Cooler Master MASTERCASE H500P MESH, Plenty of room for any size card. My main concern is that if I switch to AMD I'll have issues with the monitor, but then if I stay with Nvidia the concern is that I'm not getting the best performance for my money.

This will be paired with the GTX 1070 (which will be upgraded in the future), 16GB DDR4 3600Mhz RAM and a 750W power supply. I will also need to purchase a new CPU cooler as my current one won't fit (PCPARTPICKER said so). I have three questions - should I get a liquid or air cooler for this rig, and which one? Hello, I’m looking into upgrading my parents old Satellite Z830 laptop with a new cheap non-mechanical drive. They have a mechanical 128GB hd in there and it’s really slow. I’m just not sure what to look for exactly and not sure if modern drives will be compatible since this laptop is quite old. For the size anything at or above 128GB would be fine as they mostly use usb sticks for storage. Bonus recommendation: memory upgrade. They have 6GB so I thought I might as well look into upgrading to 8GB. Again, not sure what would be the optimal ram upgrade here. Budget: as low as possible since the laptop is old and I believe that any upgrade will be much better regardless of cost. Thanks in advance for the recommendations.

Ripjaw 4 F4-2400 (4x 8gb). Got access to a 2070 Super OC2 Greetings forums; Long time reader here! I am turning to you folks today for guidance and recommendations. Been so long since my last build. I am looking to gradually upgrade my current rig to a whole new rig in the coming weeks/months. I will replace Mobo, CPU, RAM and GPU and case. Don't think the PSU will need to be replaced since it's a 1000w gold plus already. My good old X99 has been serving me well over the years, but I am afraid I am hitting the limits of its capacity, correct me if I am wrong. It's currently running a 5930k so I got 40 pci-e lanes. And I am using a 1080ti for graphics. With 32gb of ram I am only gaming in 1080p since my current 3 monitor setup doesn't include any 4k displays and are only 60hz I would like to change my main monitor to a 4k down the line but at the moment the main focus is the rig it self. But if it is achievable within the budget I would upgrade right away. Cable management in my current case NZXT H440 is not very easy, so I would love to replace it with something with ample space and room for a CPU AIO. And since I am no longer running good old spinning drives I won't need a full size tower anymore. That this is tall AF. What do you guys think? Upgrade GPU first or Mobo CPU/Ram or everything at once? Is my CPU plenty for now? What would be the best bang for my canadian rubles...
