I am looking for a graphics card for my system to play games on ultra 60fps on my 60hz 2560x1080 21:9 ultra wide monitor. I will be choosing between the GTX 980 and the GTX 980ti. The 980 costs almost half the cost of a 980ti but the 980ti is still within my budget. If i spend less, I will save and upgrade to a newer Pascal card at the end of the year. I am also considering the GTX 1060 but that is almost the price of my friends offer for his 980ti in New Zealand. My system specs are:i5 4690k overclocked to 4.4ghz Asrock fatal1ty z87 professional motherboardFSP Aurum AU-650m 650w power supply 16gb 4x4gb ddr3 G.Skill 1600mhz RAMThe proposed 980 is a G1 gaming wind-force and the 980ti would be an EVGA super-clocked+I am planning to play games like GTA 5, Witcher 3, Far Cry Primal and ultra modded Skyrim. I wish to play all of these games with sweetfx and other graphics enhancing mods without dipping below 40fps, preferably at constant 60fps. I really dont know if the 980ti is worth the extra cost at this resolution. I am slightly concerned about the 980ti's 2gb Vram advantage (total of 6) over the 980 but im not sure if it is worth it for the games i wish to play. I will consider the 1060 but id rather go with the 980 and save quite a bit of cash for relatively the same performance.

Hey, I am looking into Ultrawide monitors, however, since i am used to IPS monitors, Samsung's new QD ultrawide looks more of a downgrade for me, even if it is much bigger and with higher res than mine. Now there are other LG monitors that are cheaper for gaming, but I do not want a lower resolution than a 3440x1440. While looking, i found this 38" beast from LG, and one more, from ACER, which has not launched yet, but was showcased last summer. However the review at TFTCentral, doesn't seem to favor gamers to use this monitor. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/lg_38uc99.htm Check these graphs here: Lag Chart Response Time Chart Now you might also tell me that I will need an AMD GPU, or this monitor will only run at 60Hz with NO variable refresh rate, I know, and I am OK jumping on AMD's GPUs, or rather, I am buying this monitor so that I can jump to AMD. I do not want to pay for G-Sync. No thank you. Could you suggest me a monitor that doesn't have such high response time and Processing Lag/Input Lag? EDIT: This is the monitor that Acer was supposed to release last year. Does anybody know if it is canceled or are we going to get it? I can't seem to find any news about it... Anybody from Acer in here? Here is a link: TFTCentral - Acer XR382CQK with 37.5" Curved Ultrawide IPS Panel

What are the advantages of using an ultrawide monitor? I'm thinking about switching to one soon.

Hi All, I'm having a little bit of trouble finding a "decent priced" ultra wide monitor without it being super ridiculous, all I'm looking for is something to improve my productivity when creating video content somewhere around the 34" mark preferably with a higher refresh rate than 60Hz, 75Hz would be ok and anything higher would be a bonus my price range would be anywhere under £650-£700 mark, please note it is in £'s not $'s and this would be the absolute top end i could afford so if you can save me some ££ that would be great any help to find something would be absolutely awesome, so thanks in advance!

Hi All, So i'm a web developer who will be working from home soon, so I can finally justify an ultrawide. At the moment i'm rocking a 32" samsung 1440p display and a 21" asus display (vertically), I want rid of them for an ultrawide. I'll be using it both for work (Code / Design) as well as gaming, so i'll want to hook up both my work mac via mini dp or thunderbolt and my pc. I'm in the UK dont really want to go above £750, i've found 2 potentials already: Samsung - It's the cheaper option http://www.ebuyer.com/671563-samsung-s34e790c-34-curved-ultrawide-qhd-monitor-ls34e790cns-en LG - The more expensive option http://www.ebuyer.com/739136-lg-34uc98-34-curved-ips-qhd-monitor-34uc98-w What can you recommend?

Hello team, The moment I introduced myself to the basic LG Ultrawide, I began my search for the best ultrawides and I have been going on a consistent loop reviewing all the 3440x1440 ultrawides and honestly need some help. I have been trying to best understand the differences between IPS and VA as well as GSync. Then different models between all these ultrawides from ACER / ASUS, now Samsung and soon to be HP. My main concerns are ghosting (saw a complaint about it on a BenQ 1080 ultrawide (but supposedly was due to being at 200hz?)), backlight issues (I am seeing so many complaints about this on the ASUS/Acer monitors but seems to be the norm with IPS?), and I guess proper colors?. Monitors I have been looking over: Acer Predator x34 (Gsync) *IPS* Asus ROG PG348Q (Gsync) *IPS* Samsung CF791 (Freesync, so can't use it) *VA* HP Omen X (ETA: March 2017, GSync) *VA* Uses for this monitor: 70% Gaming (50/50 : Comp/Casual) but not exactly at tournament level so the loss of the 44hz is not the end of the world. I hit 4k in Comp for Overwatch (then just stopped playing altogether) and before that, LEM for CSGO. 20% Movies/Netflix 10% Production (photoshop and a little AE/PP) TL:DR: I'm basically looking for some insight between these 4 or if maybe there's another I have not mentioned? I have been overwhelming myself with information between all of these that I just need to start asking questions and get some insight. My GPU is an ASUS GTX 1080 (Single) 1) Since I'm already at the $1k range, I may as well get Gsync, right? (Feel like this is a yes) - aka do not buy the Samsung? I've never experienced GSync, is it really that amazing as some people make it out to be? 2) Given the uses for the monitor, should I lean towards a VA panel? assuming the previous question is a yes, lean to the HP? 3) I'm given to understand color reproduction is amazing on the IPS panels but is it the end of the world compared to VA? 4) Given the 4 monitors I have listed, which would you recommend? Is there a different monitor I don't know about?

Hey guys, im looking for a very specific monitor and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. What i want is a 2560x1080 resolution, at least 34", g-sync, ips panel, 120 hertz, curved. Im not sure if a monitor exists with all these specs but if so please let me know. Thanks guys.

So ive just bought the Acer x34 monitor and I think im in love with it. But In the OSD there is an option labeled "ultrawide mode", with the two options being "aspect" or "1:1". Switching between the two turns the display off briefly and on again, as if it is rebooting. But other than that I cant seem to see any difference at all. Does anyone know what these options mean?

I just bought an LG 29UM67-P and it won't output over 1920x1080. I have a GTX 660. I have attempted to install the LG drivers and update my nvidia drivers. On the nivida web sight it says the GPU can support up to 4096x2160 http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-660/specifications

How do u like this monitor for gaming, productivity, and video watching? https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-25UM57-25-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00V8FAWC2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1489074109&sr=8-2&keywords=qhd

Hi guys Thus is my first post on this forum. The reason I signed up is that I'm having trouble deciding on a new monitor I currently have a 24 inch 60htz 1080p monitor and think it's just to small. I went to the scan horwich store and got to try an ultra wide monitor the £1150 Asus one with gsync which is displayed next to the 27 inch rog swift I think it was and found the ultra wide looked amazing. Now the Asus goes to 100htz and when I put vysnc on just to see if I could notice 60htz going to 100htz I didn't see the difference. But 1440 resolution looked great so looking online I find the 34uc88 which would fit the color theme of my setup but the reviews all seem to say this is not a gaming monitor? Does the term gaming come mainly from what hurtz the monitor goes up to? the z35 has 1080 resolution and 144 hurtz but the resolution is to small for 1080p at that size of screen for me.so why is it more gamery than a 1440 at 60 htz. I currently have a gtx 970 but don't feel it matters if I get g sync or freesync as a new gpu will get bought next year anyway. My desk is 60cm deep. Does any one here have a 34 inch ultra wide on that size of desk. I have a friend who has the x34 on same size of desk but the stand is insanely big and has the point at the front all the way on to his mouse mat which would drive me crazy. Which is another reason why I was looking at the LG 34uc88. The prices that these ultra wide are on make this a massive decision for me as I feel a monitor should last many many years and want to buy the right one going forward. Another note is that my desk is glass and I can't put a monitor arm on it to put the monitor any further back than what the stand it comes with allows. Thank you for reading. I know most of this is general thought's and waffle.

Sup folks, I was looking for some pc parts, when I decided to dwell around in the monitor section. I found that you can actually get pretty decent, pretty cheap ultrawide monitors for less than $300. But is ultrawide worth it? I'm afraid that because it's an unconventional aspect ratio, some games will have trouble with fullscreen viewing, especially games that are a little bit older. I also want to get into making YouTube videos again. Ultrawide is perfect for a cinematic effect, but I don't think any viewers with a regular widescreen will enjoy the poor use of their screen very much. So, for any of you that have an ultrawide, is it worth it? Should I get one or should I, especially concidering I like to play older games, keep my 16:9 widescreen monitor? Thanks in andvance, Regards, TJ

Hello, I was looking to upgrade my monitor and I was also thinking of finally going ultrawide. I want to perhaps get a 34 inch ultrawide at 3440x1440p 60Hz. What is the cheapest monitor I could get on amazon USA? How cheap could I go while still having a monitor from a reputable brand like Dell or LG? I already have seen the LG 34UC87M-B (first link) and the Dell U3415W PXF79 (second link). Could I go any cheaper on the monitor without losing the resolution and size? Thanks in advance for any recommendations you can make. https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-34UC87M-B-34-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00R59BONQ/ref=sr_1_10?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1487392206&sr=1-10&keywords=34+inch+monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PXYRMPE/ref=psdc_1292115011_t2_B00TWIE2SM?th=1

Hey guys, hope you can give me some advice. I'm current rocking twin 24inch 1080p 60hz monitors and, frankly, the clarity of the devices are terrible. My plan is to slot in an ultrawide monitor for gaming and productivity and use these other panels as side monitors stationed above until I upgrade them in the future. What monitor should I go with? My basic desires are: 100hz+ for gaming 34inch 1440p (2.5k) - size can change slightly but nothing under 30 inches will be considered. I rarely play games and mainly stick to World of Warcraft when I do play, so the hardware won't be pushed too hard. The current computer has: GTX 770 4GB edition Intel 4820k OC to 4.5 GHz 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM What monitors would you suggest? Ideally, I wouldn't want to be spending more than about £1000 though I could be swayed depending on the benefits. Thanks!

Hey guys! It's been so long since I've had the time to do one of these. I've played around with a 4k system (which is still a work in progress and will be hooked up to a projector). This is my current build (the 2.0 is for a new case [upgraded from Core V21 to Caselabs BH4) and latest Kaby Lake specs: Concept: I originally pictured a dark elven prince who became evil after his father sided with the 'evil' humans who invaded their land to establish peace. I have a whole 10 page story that I'll eventually turn into a comic or publish into some sort of manga/lite novel. The theme for this build centers around the prince - the black for the darkness that fills that princes heart and the evil that's done and the yellow to represent his royal blood and the promise of a brighter tomorrow that the prince wishes to establish for his race with the eradication of the humans. Hey there guys, Currently I am looking at buying a new ultrawide monitor for the better work and gaming experience. But I am not really sure what to go for, that's why I ask you guys for help. So I am having trouble choosing between 1080p and 1440p, I have a GTX970 which should be able to run both of those fine, though the 1440p one will require lower quality settings. Then, when choosing the monitor itself, it is also difficult. So many different screens, a lot have issues with background bleeding or just bad QC. So guys, can you give me some directions? What to look out for, which are good and which are bad? Thanks!

So I have an LG 25um56 Monitor set up in 2560x1080 and I recently got a 2nd Monitor, a LG 25um57 (Just a refresh basically), and I am trying to run it at 2560x1080 as well and when I try it only registers 1920x1080. I have tried using a custom resolution and it has not worked so far. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone. I am currently in the process of choosing a monitor for my new build, but I am stuck between a few different choices. I really want an ultrawide monitor, but most of the ones I looked at were extremely expensive or had bad specs. Here are the 4 monitors I have narrowed it down to. My budget is around 300$ (give or take 50) Here are my current options. Ultrawide Monitor, okay specs. Extremely well-rounded monitor. Cheaper one Other pretty good one I am located in the US. Here is my current build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XRjMyf

I have just fixed up my new setup which is running a 3440x1440 UW monitor in the middle and one 1920x1080 one each side of it, so a total wide resolution of 7280p. But now I need a wallpaper setup guys! and I cant figure it out.. I either need a 7280x1440p wallpaper or three different ones that match and make sense.

Hey guys, need some help: I'm looking to replace my display monitor (23 ") with a monitor that will allow me to use it as two. I'm debating for few months between Dell u2917w (2560X1080) 21: 9 Which I've got a great deal on this display (but in the meantime there's no information about... it just came out recently, there's information on its previous version but I can't rely on that), and Dell u2715h (2560X1440) 16: 9 Which it's not that expensive... both monitors cost about the same price so there is no dilemma in terms of budget and both manufacture by LG panels. I prefer maximum productivity ( features like Picture By Picture) and put a lot of visual information on the screen. My main uses of the monitor are programming (This is why Picture By Picture pretty important to me), audio editing (Cubase and stuff) and some gaming (not competitive, but still I prefer minimum of input lag). I will be glad hearing the opinion of people who have experienced one of these screens (or for that matter, similar monitors). TNX.

Anyone using an ultrawide and a non-ultrawide (perhaps 4k) setup? An example would be something like this: I would be using my rig for both gaming and work. For work which could be programming, research and writing or whatnot. For work, I would like to use an ultrawide as the primary to hold the IDE windows and possible an emulator (if it's Android development) and the non-ultrawide could hold either a video I'm mostly listening to (and I only need to glance at it briefly from time to time) or some other windows that I need open but don't have to focus on as much as the IDE. As for gaming, I've seen some interesting "immersive" setups with 2 or more non-ultrawide monitors (not sure if they were 4k) but I'm not really interested in using multiple monitors for games. I'll switch between the 4k and the ultrawide depending on which experience I like more an if the game supports making use of the wider aspect ratio for a wider FOV instead of just stretching the scene on the wider screen. Powering this would be a GeForce 1070 or 1080. What are folks thoughts on this? If you have a setup like this already, what do like/hate about it?

Hello! Looking into buying an Ultrawide and am currently eyeing: LG34UC98 LG38UC99 I'm not too sold on the 38" and was wondering if the 34" was due for a refresh soon or if any new ultrawides are set to release. Use case is to connect a macbook pro. Cheers!

So im putting together a new rig and I want to have it speced so I can run a 3440x1440 monitor setup well. I am wondering what level of GPU i will need to run my games at 60fps, also im wondering if my CPU will have any bearing on how well I can run games on that high res of a monitor. I have a GTX 1070 already and would like to keep using it but im not sure if that is realistic. I am also concerned with futureproofing, how long can I continue to run modern games at that res. The games I plan on running are as follows. Fallout 4, Mass Effect Andromeda, GTAV, For Honor, Star Citizen, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and other games like that. Mostly open world RPG's and action games.

Tossing up which monitor(s) to get, between the 25UM58-P and 29UB67-B, Both from LG. At the moment where i live (Perth) the 25'' is on sale for about half that of the 29'' and i like the idea of dual monitors and ultrawide gaming. But i am a little worried about whether the 25'' are too short? supposedly a 25'' ultrawide is similar to a 20-21 inch regular panel in terms of height. I saw this image on reddit (not taking any credit) of a side by side comparison http://imgur.com/aZMTM73 Thoughts and opinions? Let's see if LTT is more responsive than Toms...
