Hey guys, I'm here to ask for help in finding a solution to my audio issue. Here's the problem: I am using a Logitech Z906 5.1 sound system which has an integrated decoder and optical (Toslink) connection and that speaker system is plugged into my PC, the audio card on it is a VERY old AUZEN X-Plosion 7.1. The problem is that due to the way i am sitting in the room where my speakers are set up on the wall, i am way closer to the front (center and left/right) speakers than i am to the back ones. Now the Z906 does have a volume control for front/center/rear speakers but it's not from 0 to 100%, it's more of a small adjustment. Which is not enough. For that matter i was forced to find an audio card (in this case the Auzen X-Plosion) in order to have individual volume control over each speaker when outputting digital 5.1. This way i can turn the volume up on the rear speakers in order to hear them when i'm sitting at my PC, since they're so far away. So far i was able to solve this issue. But i do not know how much this audio card will keep running since it's stopped production in 2008. So i'm betting it's at least 10 years old now (it was bought as SH from Ebay about 3 years ago). The problem now is what to replace it with when it finally goes dead. I would require an audio card (internal preferred but not exclusive) that is able to output a 5.1 digital (not analog) output over toslink (or even coaxial). I've tried using analog outputs from several sound cards but from what I've read and understand, since Windows XP, there is no longer good support for analog 5.1 by Microsoft's Windows. It's pretty hard to find accurate information about what kind of signal is outputted by audio cards when it's digital. Usually they just mention that it's a digital output. but most of the cases it means it's just a stereo output. Thanks for taking the time to read this and hope you can help me.

Hi Guys So I just purchased the HyperX Cloud 2 Headset and started to play CS:GO. But in the CS:GO audio options 5.1 doesn't show up. I've enabled surround in sound settings and I've enabled it on my remote for the headset. Can someone help me? (btw. I don't need to know that 5.1 is fake and all that stupid shit)

I was just about to buy the Sennheiser G4ME ZERO headset when I came across this post: http://www.overclock.net/t/1456588/question-on-using-sennheiser-g4me-zero-as-a-7-1-headset It speaks of an adapter which can turn the GAME ZERO with supposably mediocre surround sound to quite decent surround sound. I can't seem to find anything with that adapter of similar. Can anyone give me any recommendations? Are these adapters worth getting? If so, can you recommend me one?

Hi everyone I don’t think I know a lot about vram to make a decision here, so I need to know what gpu setup is best for my use here i need a rendering gpu and a gaming gpu here's what I think can work ish 2x titan xp’s in sli for gaming applications 1x quadro p4000 for rendering applications now i really have no idea how the vram is going to be split here if the 3 surround monitors are going to be used by the titan xp and the 8k hooked up by the quadro is the quadro going to take the heavy load of the windows + rendering applications while the titans are used for gaming only? can I run that kind of setup with no issues? which vram is going to be affected by the system ? And if it’s a quadro should I get one with higher vram?

I'm curious to know if it's possible to play games using three monitors, except with a central monitor that uses g-sync, and the side monitors are at 60Hz. Any idea's?

Now that Win10 has been out for a while I'm curious as to how the triple screen with Nvidia Surround works. I know that Win10 finally natively does the 4 corner snapping per monitor which is SUPER nice, but not enough for me to transfer over to 10. Is Surround still terrible, or does Win10 support it any better? Currently on Win7 I can use a hot key to go in/out of surround, but coming out it goes back to single screen mode and I have to winkey+P to extend back to triples. And once in surround it still kind of freaks out the snapping. The side snaps take half of all screen space, but fullscreen snaps USUALLY only take up one monitor. Is this the same in Win10? Also, is there any other fun tips or tricks that Win10 can do with triples?

We got a 4K 70 inch tv with a Samsung blu ray player as the receiver and got a surround sound system, but audio isn’t Surround, even when we watch video recorded with surround sound it won’t work, all the speakers work but no surround, and when we go to the receiver itself and press the test button, only two speakers work and the right speaker audio comes out of the center speaker, we have all the connections in properly, please help

Hey everyone, After many complaints from my friends saying I don't have enough spatial awareness while gaming (PUBG, Battlefield 1, Overwatch) I've decided to purchase a (gaming) headset. All I want from a headset is surround sound and a mic. It doesn't have to be the best of the best, doesn't have to be wireless (would be nice though) and it doesn't need to come with a DAC or external amp. The most important thing for me is that it's comfortable. I've had numerous headsets and headphones which were all putting a huge strain on my ears and I was never able to wear any of them for over an hour without getting a sore head. Right now I have a Mad Catz FREQ M and a B&W P3 which I use when travelling and occasionally to listen to some music at home. They are both comfortable enough to wear for around an hour before they start to hurt, and they're not surround, so I'm really looking for something to properly play games with for longer periods of time. So my question is; can any of you recommend a good headset which is very comfortable and reasonably affordable (max 100 bucks)? I've been looking at the Razer Man O' War (which is on sale for 74 bucks right now where I live) and perhaps something from Sennheiser (with our without mic). Thank you in advance!

Hey, I just bought new ath 40x's. Now I need a new soundcard because I have only an on-board soundcard. So there are the internal soundcards that may cause trouble with the interference with the Mainboard. And the external that don't have the problem. I personally don't care about internal or external but after my research I have some questions. I mainly use my headphone for gaming fps games like cs go and sometimes music or YouTube. I want to spend like 50 or 60 euros. Cheaper is better if the quality is good. Max 70 euros. 1. There are external soundcards with 7.1 surround sound like the creative sound blasterx g5 with virtual surround sound 7.1 or the. So I really like the surround sound with 7.1 https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=%23&ved=0ahUKEwiP-9bAza_VAhWHAsAKHfvSA9wQxa8BCB4wAA&usg=AFQjCNF1sHlk2z9QIx28jtvfnGP_UlkifA So my question is if there are also internal soundcards with a virtual 7.1 surround sound option or external soundcards at my price range with 7.1 surround sound. 2. What is your opinion. Do I really need virtual 7.1 surround sound to hear footsteps in a game like cs go? If not do you have an suggestions for me at my price range? Thank you for your answers

Hey Guys! I have a particular problem regarding the nVidia Surround technology. I recently bought three new monitors. They are Asus PG258Q's with G-Sync and 240hz refresh rate. My plan is to fire up the nVidia surround. I have the Asus Strix GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. And this is where the problem emerges. The card only has two displayports, two HDMI's and one DVI. The PG258Q only sports one HDMI port and one displayport, no daisychaining supported. My question is: Is there a way for me to successfully play a game in nVidia Surround at 144hz and above and with G-Sync enabled? Right now, I can play in Surround, but only at 60 hz because two monitors are connected via Displayports but one is connected using HDMI. This setup takes the whole Surround experience to 60hz as all the monitors need to be at the same refresh rate in Surround. G-Sync works only on the monitors connected via Displayports, too. I was thinking about buying MST HUB from Club 3D and dividing one Displayport on the graphics card in two, thus getting three displayports total, but I have read that the nVidia Surround does not support this; unlike AMD Eyefinity that works with MST Hubs. Or is there some kind of active dongle that could be used with nVidia Surround, converting the DVI port on the graphics card into a Displayport? Please, I would really appreciate any feedback as this whole thing starts to drive me crazy. Thanks!!

Hello! Im trying to figure out how (if possible) to get true surround sound from my laptop (ASUS ROG GL552VW). Im interested in the surround sound mainly for gaming. What would be the optimal setup (Headset, external soundcard etc)? I was looking at some Astro A40 with the mixamp, but from what I know its a bit tricky because of the optical requirements which my laptop doesnt have. Thanks.

I want to buy myself an E10K as a treat I have a p8-b75-v motherboard which I the DAC assume is trash because the whole thing costs the same as an E10k! Question 1: Will I be able to use razer surround? Recently I watched hardwarecanuckses video on 7.1 surround demo (Sennheiser gx1000 gaming dac/amp) and fell in love with surround! I thought I could use Razer's software for surround. will I be able to use it? will it sound nice? Question 2: How terrible is my motherboard's DAC? will it be worth it? my headphones are Sennheiser HD 518.

So I've got this motherboard (MSI Z77A-G43) and this home theater setup (Samsung HT-BD1250) I got from my aunt & uncle. I've been using it as 2.1 for about a year now but thought it was time to get 5.1 working. There are images of all the HTBD1250s outputs / inputs in the link and it supposedly supports onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. I'm not sure what this means, but i was wondering if it would work with my motherboards outputs, or if I would have to buy something and in that case, what?

Hello guys, I recently acquired myself a used Phillips 56PFL9954H/12 which I'm super happy with, except for the audio, it's decent, but not at all on the same level as the rest of the experience, so I want to bump it up a notch, now, I have a 5.1 Samsung PS-DW0-2 speaker set (Speakers only, got them from a friend), and I'd like to hook them up to the TV. My problem is, I know jack-squat about TV and audio when it comes to this stuff, seeing as I've always just used my PC and my 5.1 there up until now. The TV unfortunately doesn't have Optical Audio Out, and I have no clue how to connect the speakers to the TV, my thought have been that either I need a receiver, in which case, how do I pass the signal from the TV to the receiver, or, alternatively, I believe it's possible to get an HDMI-passthrough box, that strips out the audio to 5.1? TL:DR - What do I need, to get connect my 5.1 speakers to my TV?. Any help would be highly appreciated. Here's a picture of the O/I of the TV. (There are 4 HDMI ports cropped off, that's pretty much it)

so recently i've been noticing a few problems when trying to run games with Nvidia surround active when i first launch a game with surround active the game will instantly only run at around 3 fps with a max of 5 and (using black ops 3 as an example) during the start scenes with the Treyarch and Activision logos it will only reach a max of 4fps, also when resetting all the games video settings to the optimised settings for surround through geforce experience it still will not run higher than 5 fps. the only games i have been able to get running at the normal above 30 fps in surround is euro truck simulator 2 by trying to get into the settings and setting everything to low then adjusting them from there, doing this within geforce experience does not work. also when playing with sli enabled when not in surround every game i play seems to flicker to a green screen every 10-30 frames and this has caused one of my monitors to flicker for 2 days. can anyone think of a fix to this or is it a known problem and Nvidia may or may not be working on fixing it? System specs Intel core i7-5820k MSI x99a SLI Krait Edition 16gb HyperX Fury DDR4 2300 Mhz x2 Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 SC (Blower style) Corsair RM1000i 1000w psu x3 Dell U2515H Monitors Games i've tried in surround with the problem occurring Call of duty Black ops 3 Call of duty Black ops 2 Euro Truck Simulator 2 American Truck Simulator Project CARS Battlefield 3 BeamNG Drive Overwatch Outlast The Crew *most of these used to work in surround until either a windows update or a Nvidia driver update

Hey everyone! I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD598's. I have a Rampage V Extreme with onboard SupremeFX 2014 (Realtek ALC 1150 with added software goodies). The headphones sound great, but I've been doing some research along with listening to some sample files people have uploaded using DACs or high-end sound cards like Creative ZX's and ZX-R's. I can tell already that I'm missing out on something with my onboard audio. I would like to start by saying the EQ presets in the SupremeFX software are absolute garbage and I've made my own. I believe I've reached the best sound I'm going to get with this onboard set-up. I like using the surround feature for gaming, but it does destroy the natural sound-stage of these open ear headphones. My question lies here. Should I buy a DAC like the Fiio E10K or SMSL 793-II and pair that to the onboard surround sound for gaming? Or should I buy a Sound Card like the Creative ZX-R and use SBX surround? I'm sorry if this is confusing, but basically is it better to use a DAC with my onboard software, or use a totally separate card and software all together? These headphones are very low impedance/high sensitivity headphones. They don't need much to drive them so an extra amp is not needed. I really notice the difference between the SBX surround and SupremeFX surround- SupremeFX sucks, sorry. But would a DAC using stereo or the onboard surround sound better than the SBX sound cards? I know this is a lot of questions and I'm repeating some, just re-worded, but I'm genuinely lost as to what I should do to get the best listening experience out of these headphones that is both crisp and clear, but also great for gaming.

So I have a laptop and a set of simple speakers that have an aux cord for sound and a USB cord for power and an idea occurred to me. Is there a way to use both laptop speakers and individual speakers in a surround setup. I have found out how to use them in the same time but its not quite an immersing experience. Note that I'm no audio professional nor audiophile. Thanks.

Can I plug all of them into 1 HDMI Ports with a Splitter? 2.Can I Plug into 2 DP + 1 HDMI? Will it work in Surround? 3. Can I Use an adapter on the DP Port so I Will use HDMI Cables? And should I Get active or passive Adapter?

Hi, im currently looking for a new headset but there is just so much stuff out there and i dont want to go through the process of ordering a bunch just to test them and send them back, so i thought i could get some advice here. Im currently using a Sennheiser PC 363D and im very happy with the sound but its starting to fall apart. I will mainly use it for watching movies/tv shows on my pc and some gaming, plus i would like to listen to music on my phone. My budget is around 200-250€. What im looking for is: A microphone (quality is not important, only using it a couple times per year) Wireless (Bluetooth so i can also use it on my phone) Some form of surround sound Over-ear style Im happy for any suggestions. Edit: should probably mention that im not an audiophile, just your average consumer

Hi, I'm looking for a way to have high-end surround sound on my PC. I looked into run of the mill surround systems, but their speakers are not the best. Does anyone know a surround av receiver with a USB digital input to hook it up to a pc or a dac and amp that would allow to connect 6 or 8 passive speakers?

Tonight, I was playing CS:GO with some guys, and they were all making a callout for a guy right around a corner. I couldn't hear any of him and ended up dying. Apparently, his noise was super obvious, and them with their 7.1 blah blah blah headphones could hear him. He WAS right in front of me how I was looking at the corner, not left or right of me, so I assume it's because my headphones are stereo. I know CS:GO has a 3D audio setting, and my DAC (This) also has "Virtual Surround" in its enhancements tab. Which should I have enabled? Both? My DAC>CS:GO or CS:GO> my DAC? The CS:GO setting does say to disable other audio enhancements... But then my audio in other games wouldn't have virtual surround. I also have Equalizer APO turned on to a config I found on Reddit that someone made specifically for the 770's... Could this be a hindrance? I don't see how it could. I think I might just throw some money at "gaming" headphones and switch them out for games. I know that it's not real 7.1, and they're not BETTER, but it seems like they are for position. Thanks a lot. Btw, after breaking these in the past two weeks, extreme comfort and sound quality. Beautiful.

Has anybody tried utilizing these headphones in place of a gaming headset? If so, how was the experience, and were you able to configure it with surround sound? My knowledge on the headphones themselves are limited, but I know there’s a setting within the supplied app that allows you to change the perspective of where the sound is coming from (ie as if the sound were behind or in front of you) I’m just wondering if that anyone has managed to make it work as a surround sound system.

Hey guys. So I need help here. I would like to know if the denon avr 791 or the Yamaha vsx 1500 is better. To be clear I do not have the set up mic for either unit and unless I find one hella cheap I wont be getting one any time soon. So all adjustment must be made manually. Looking for bolth opinion and fact here regarding sound quality and build. I will only be able to use 5.1 source files via Dolby digital in my use case. Or up some with pliix. Xbox one x via optical or hdmi arc from TV which can only do max of 5.1 Dolby digital. The denon has features like true HD. But I cant really make use of it. The Yamaha reciever is considerably heavier and I just feel as tho it may have better internals and is thx certified for w.e that's worth. Also input on pliiz or presence speakers could help my decision. Sorry if this comes off to wordy. I am new to forum posting. Thank you in advance
