I'm wondering if there's a good/easy/cheap way to get surround sound with standard bookshelf speakers on my PC without running a $7-800 surround sound amp. For reference I have a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 I'm currently running surround on with two cheap pairs of Logitech speakers.

Topic. After a pair of Logitech Z323 speakers failed on me (clicking noise, something to do with the subwoofer), I have decided to write Logitech speakers off in search of a better pair. I prefer to spend under a $100, but after this debacle (and considering the fact that I am trying to save for college), I am willing to go $50 over my budget if necessary. I was considering the $100 Bose Companion III speakers as a replacement, as none of the reviews for it on the Best Buy website mentioned anything about sound distortion according to the keywords mentioned. But I was curious if anyone had a recommendation for a different set of speakers. Oh, and these speakers need to have a headphone jack on them, as well as be able to adjust the volume. I also only want 2.0 or 2.1 speakers. Thanks in advance!

So I have had my Logitech Z-2300s and they have served me well, and they have aged very well. Though right now I am trying to find the next step up from these. As I have noticed over time that, though great, the Z-2300s aren't strong in some situations. For instance, the thundering soundtracks of LOTR movies at higher volumes the subwoofer just can't keep up with, or the mid ranges such as an electric guitar solo or some kind of very mid range heavy sound don't sound natural to the ear (to clarify, instead of all the parts of the song will instead of sounding very separated, as in you can pick out all the different parts, it kind of all mushes together and just can't keep up). The only problem with my situation is that the way that my desk is setup I don't have room for studio monitors. As nice as they would be, you can see that I just don't have the room for such things and can only really fit a 2.1 system. (pardon the mess, I use my desk for a variety of tasks so I end up with a consistently messy desk) So what I am looking for is a suitable upgrade from my current audio situation when it comes to my speakers.

i recently cleaned my computer using a can of compressed air and found that my audio coming from my speakers was distorted when i went back on my pc i have tried to fix the problem in a number of different ways. the first way way replacing my aux cable however this did nothing. i also tried plugging the audio cable it to my front io and the io on the motherboard at the back however this did nothing. i have also tried plugging in another speaker via aux and the same distortion occurs for this reason i know that the problem does not lie in my speakers or any of the hardware however i have also updated my drivers via device manager with no change to the audio. the distortion that i am hearing from the speakers is that of a fractured sound with static and a fan like sound (fractured) . the sound only occurs at certain pitches often in the lows. i have not found a solution online and am looking for an answer, i was thinking that maybe i have damaged something internally e.g.the HD audio socket and have unplugged and plugged it without a change in the situation

Im looking for some speakers for gaming/music. My budget is around 150-200 USD. Most of the music I listen to has a lot of bass so I was looking for some speakers with a subwoofer, but most that I found were far over my budget. Are subwoofers not worth it around my price area? What speakers would you recommend?

Hey ltt community, I have the Logitech Z623 and I like them a lot. But sometimes I want them to connect to my phone without aux. Are there any cheap ebay modules (I live in Germany) that I could diy connect to my speakers? My speakers are rated at 200W and I would like it to be Bluetooth 4.0. Thanks!

I want to hook up some 1/4 inch speakers to my system, and don't know what to do. I have the speakers, just not the know-how. Do I just need Schiit AMPs and DACs?

Hi everyone, I'm planning to build my first speaker. I wanted it to be Bluetooth capable, and all I could find in my country is a TDA7492P 2x25W Bluetooth Amplifier board (so I guess I'm kinda stuck with it). I want to salvage the drivers from my old PC speaker set (MidiLand MLi-620), and I found out that its woofer is only rated at 10W RMS and each of the satellite tweeters are rated at 3W. So that's 1 woofer and 2 sets of tweeters that take 16W in total (I think that's how it works?) Now my question is, is it safe that I connect that 25W amp to these drivers? Thanks for the help.

I have been having issues on trying to diagnose this problem for my speakers. Basically, I get loud static noise randomly (see video). Usually it's from me watching YouTube videos but I suppose any audio for that matter. My current setup for the speaker can be seen here. Also, for met to get rid of the noise, I would have to play the YouTube video while audio is on mute, or I can restart. My initial thought would be from like not using insulated cable or if they're too long or whatnot. Grounding issues? loop back? My hardware is listed as: Asus Xonar DX 7.1 SVS subwoofer Audioengine a5+

Hi, I'm just getting into Audio, and I wanted to know the answer to an important question. If I have a speaker of 60w power (70w peak), can I use an amp that has a wattage of 2x80w or 2x160w? Will the amplifier correct itself, so that it wont give too much juice to the speakers? Here is a link to a few amps that I have in mind: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sabaj-A3-Bluetooth-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B01N10PF4B/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496413975&sr=8-1&keywords=sabaj+a3 https://www.amazon.co.uk/SA-98E-TDA7498E-Stereo-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B015J0P7VM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1496414025&sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=drok+2x160w https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M662N3N?psc=1 THANKS! I actually really do appreciate the help.

I have a usb headset (hyperx cloud 2), and a crappy old pair of beige speakers that I got for free from work (single 3.5mm jack) I only need to use one at a time and I'd like to switch between them fully, using simple software without unplugging anything. I tried using a program called AudioSwitch, it's nice and easy to use, but it only moves some programs, and others seem to be locked to either my headset or my speakers. Any ideas? Something with hotkeys would be fantastic. Thanks!

I have some fairly old speakers(2) from Logitech. They are powered by a single USB and 3.5 headphone jack cable from my motherboard. Every time I launch a demanding application such as Watch_Dogs 2 or even Minecraft, the speakers begin to make a high-frequency noise. The noise disappears when I close the application. The pitch and loudness changes when I move my mouse. While the computer is idling or being used for nothing demanding, the speakers have an audible hum/squeal. Any suggestions as to why this might happen would be much appreciated. Please note, this didn't happen when I used these speakers with a laptop

I am thinking about converting my existing non powered computer speakers into powered ones. My only dilemma is that I dont know if by adding stuff to the inside it will significantly change the sound signature of the speaker and cause them to not sound good. Will this happen? Im planning on adding an amplifier, bluetooth cabapability, and and audio out. So I recently bought a 65" Samsung KS8000 4k TV from Costco and I was setting it up in my living room and I couldn't figure out how to connect them to my speakers. I'm using the Audioengine A5+ bookshelf speakers and a Premier Acoustic PA-150 Subwoofer. The TV has an audio input called ARC that I've never heard about and an optical cable as the other audio input, neither of which my speakers have. Right now I'm using my desktop PC with the TV and I can connect my speakers directly to my PC, but I want be able to use the speakers when there's other sources like PS4, or the smart TV itself. The speakers only have an audio jack and white-red cable inputs. What's a good clean solution? The less cables the better.

Hey guys, So I have a Samsung KS8500 and I was wondering what would be the best bang for my one hundred dollars, it can be a bit higher, but nothing too over the budget. I've been looking at some older Vizio 3.1 soundbars for my budget (I'm fine buying pre-owned), but then also see these "systems" than are 5.1 surround sound but are way cheaper than their soundbar alternative.. So.. What do you guys say? Needs: Bluetooth/Wireless, So I can play stuff from my phone, I don't care if I need to connect a cable to my tv or not. Just need bluetooth so my phone can connect to it. At least one subwoofer Under 100$ USD, I'm fine with ebay pre-owned equipment, as long as it's not too old.. Nothing too crazy, I still have to make my tv area generally nice, so nothing to exotic.. Don't care about brand, even if it's from RCA.. I won't be primarily using it for music, but as long as it plays music loud and nice (with bass), it's all good. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2FTjuhtMnYZT1ZXOFVHY2ttTFE/view?usp=sharing p.s. I know this is a repost, but I didn't see this sub-forum existed, so I'm trying my luck here..

Fellow Techies, I just got done doing a little work on the pc. I have a problem though, the pc doesn't put out sound. The computer recognizes the speakers being plugged in, but no sound. I hear popping ever so often. What is up with this? All I did was change LED for the power button, and no plug in all the front IO. Any suggestions?

Following up on the title's question - Do speakers with audio jacks for heaphones/aux cables have their own integrated sound cards? As in, we're not connecting our headphones directly to our computer, but rather, through the speakers CONNECTED to the computer.

I'm renovating my setup. I'm building myself a new desk with a mixture of IKEA parts, and I have these pretty good Logitech speakers with subwoofer (Which I don't know the name of, they're pretty old but they're fine) but I am planning to get new speakers. I just bought myself the Fulla 2 from Schiit, and the Sennheiser HD 650s. I'm wondering what speakers would be great to get. Max budget $300 would be great, and I was looking at the Creative SoundBlaster X Katana soundbar, and the Kanto YU2 speakers. But I'm torn. I have a white setup, and I want to have good speakers, and the Katana seems like a good choice to sate my RGB hunger, but at the same time I am open to suggestions for other studio monitors + subwoofer for the new desk. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I am i the process of setting up my speakers to my pc. I also have a pair of headphones plugged into my pc. The problem here is that i cannot play sound though the speakers, only my headphones, had my hifi friend come over to check if something was wrong with the speaker or amp or somethong, but it works just fine on my phone, so, i assume the problem lies in windows, the question is, what the hell do i do? Kind regards

This might be the wrong forum but I'm wondering weather the Onkyo a-9010 integrated amp has enough power to power the Bowers & Wilkins CM5 S2 Speakers to a reasonable volume. I am considering this combo against another combo and i am sure the other combo will work just fine but probably not sound as good, the only reason I'm hesitant about this combo is the power question. Both combos are in the same budget btw.

Hey guys! Today I'm going to give my two cents on speakers I have purchased. Product: JBL LSR305 Studio Monitors ( x2) Disclaimer: If you do want to purchase these, be aware that each speaker is sold individually. General Specifications: Why did I buy these over other products? My Corsair SP2500 malfunctioned a week into use. The subwoofer was completely blown and RMAing with Corsair was a pain. They didn't have any in stock and everywhere I searched, they were discontinued. I returned those and stumbled upon the JBLs on Amazon. I knew about JBL only in the automotive industry. They had a high reputation so I'd figure they'd probably have the same high rep in studio speakers. After two whole weeks of burning in these speakers, I have to say this was the best investment in audio equipment. ( For now) Also I wanted something that was a reference monitor. Something that was able to reproduce sound extremely accurately. Physical Appearance: These speakers are huge and requires a lot of space. Unfortunately for me I have a small desk and very limited surface area. I had to purchase stands and let them stand by themselves. They are not touching the table. Here is the speaker next to my Deathadder. (To give a reference of how big the speaker is.) There is no grill or any cover for these speaker. Gotta be careful and not make them dirty or break. (Exposed Woofer) Between the two speakers, there is a white LED light to notify user that the speaker is powered on. On the tweeter, there is a feature called "waveguide". This allows the sound waves to travel in the most efficient way to the user's ears. This also allows the person to hear it accurately from whatever position in the room. Waveguide is also seen in their M2 flagship monitor and on the larger LSR308. (with larger 8" woofers) On the back of the speaker, we see where we can place our inputs, XLR and TRS Balanced. The speaker allows for adjustment in LF and HF ( bass & treble ) with -2dB ,0 ,or + 2dB. I personally leave my LF on +2dB and HF on 0. My highs sound great and I need a little but of extra bass. A volume control knob with 20 way adjustability ( increment of 0.5 ) . Input sensitivity adjustment to prevent damaging speakers and adjusting to user input. Back firing port... Finally power cord & switch. What comes in the box? Speaker itself, & power cord. Input cables are not included probably because JBL assumes people buying these already have them. These cables are pretty cheap so I didn't mind paying the $10 bucks. Packaging was simple. Easy setup right off the box. How do they sound? ( Not from an audiophile's perspective but from a person who listens to a lot of music) My listening experience has been inside a bedroom setting. The environment is not that big compared to what they are meant to be in... A studio. First thing I noticed was that the LSR305 was loud. Party / wild banger loud. At max volume these were uncomfortably loud. What I noticed when I tried max volume was that the music still sounded great. No distortion. Without a subwoofer, I was amazed that there was some bass with the speakers. It's not right in your face but very subtle. It felt weird for the first time having the bass felt on my chest. (I was more used to having the sub on the floor so none of the bass was on my chest) However if I really want more bass, I would add their subwoofer down the line. There is no replacement for a sub. Vocals on these are amazing. Voices are crystal clear. Nothing else to say. Instruments. OMG! You can hear almost everything. Going from gaming speakers to these reference monitors, I heard stuff that I missed. Revisiting music from my playlist felt like listening to something extremely different. (dont know how to explain this phenomenon) . These obviously sounded quite flat. They're suppose to be. Made for mixers and musicians who need to accurately hear how the instruments sound. source: noaudiophile.com who measured the frequency response. Testing methodology: The speakers are placed 2.5ft away from each other and positioned to fire towards my ears rather than having them point forward. I assumed normal desk sitting position. I am about 1.5ft away from each speakers. Speakers were connected to my Asus Xonar Essence STX II's left and right RCA connections. There was no XLR or TRS for me to connect to. Sources vary from Spotify Premium, Apple Music, & Tidal. Songs used for test: 1. Eagles - Hotel California 2. Louis The Child - Slow Down Love 3. Calvin Harris - Slide 4. Hippie Sabotage - Sunny 5. Aero Chord - Love & Hate 6. Sam Gellaitry - ESCAPISM I II III Albums. Viable applications for these speakers... 1. Desk 2. Bookshelves 3. Living room theatre 4. Obviously in a studio. Pricing: At under $150 for each speaker, these are amazing. In my opinion this offering is way better than AudioEngine's A5+. These are true reference monitors whereas those are marketed to be similar to reference. The only problem I have with the LSR305 is that they are not bundled together in a package. However Amazon does offer a combo package for people without any equipment. These were priced just at under $100 at Massdrop. Do not know if they will ever comeback on that site. Conclusion These would def be my go to for anyone. These are reasonably priced and sound amazing. IMO this is JBL's attempt to give people a first hand grasp of what great speakers can do for you at a very very nice price. I def like how these are individually sold. If one of the speaker is faulty, you could simply replace one without having to completely replace the entire setup. The product's downfall is that you can't really "plug into the computer"... Don't know how to fully explain this either. In the long run, I'd for sure add their subwoofer to this setup. I'm pretty satisfied with what they offered. Now time for me to return to AFK status...

Recently took a look at some JBL LSR305s. From reviews, I heard these things sound amazing. Hard to agree with many reviewers because I can't really get to experience the speakers before purchasing. A lot of people had to mess with placing around with positioning for maximum listening experience. Kinda a huge factor for me since I'm confined to a very small bedroom. I might want to get a pair. (THEY'RE NOT SOLD IN PAIRS. HOWEVER AMAZON AS FAR AS IM AWARE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN PAIR YOU THESE). For the size of the speakers I don't mind them. They don't intrude or invade my current setup. (Measured my desk to check for size compatibility) Anyone had past experience with TSR / TS / XLR cables? Thinking of buying TSR to RCA cables because my Xonar Essence has RCA out. The other outputs are for my headphones. I've never dealt with any of these connections which is why I am a little hesitant to immediately purchase them. Rear vs front ported monitors? Thoughts on using an AMP+DAC card on top of speakers that are already amped? Pages I've been on while researching these speakers. http://noaudiophile.com/JBL_LSR305/ --> this person's review seems somewhat neutral imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOySstGCMRg --> Z review. Pretty big audiophile. Hated him at first cause he bashed on the M50X but his reviews are on point. Tells me everything about the speakers. Guy tends to buy everything because of how great something sounds.

Does anyone have experiences with EC Living speakers. As their new sub woofer comes out soon it looks promising. It is wireless speakers designed to allow multi room setups. The one review i found said their only drawback was lack of deepness in the sound image. They are now coming out with a sub woofer that might fix that? They also have this streaming box to hook up to your current system i am considering for my current living room setup. Any on hands impressions would be awesome! I think Linus should do a review! I would like to watch that before deciding on buying one. https://ecliving.electrocompaniet.no/speakers/?lang=en https://ecliving.electrocompaniet.no/home-cinema/?lang=en OH SHIT WRONG PLACE TO POST. HOW DO I DELETE?
