So I found a great deal for a 4790 on craigslist. For those of you who don't know what that is, its just a place where people can list things they want to sell. I started to talking to the guy and he said after putting it back into his system, it didn't work right. He said that it boots, but the computer was very sluggish (as though it was out of memory) and games would either not load, or crash after about a minute). I really want the cpu to not be broken, so I am looking for other possible causes of these issues. He says it was working fine, then he put it away for about a month and after trying it out it doesn't work. CPUs just don't go bad, do they? they either break completely, or work fine. Can anybody advise me as to what might be causing the sluggishness on his end? (FYI, he upgraded from a 4790, to a 4790k and the k works fine). I also don't think he's trying to rip me off witha broek CPU, because he is the one who tested it and is saying it doesn't work right.

I'm planning to sell my desktop setup to pay for a lower end laptop. I'll be going to uni in a year or two so a desktop is really inconvenient, a laptop less so. Don't plan on buying a high-end laptop, again this is only for uni. Gaming isn't really my thing any more. Thinking along the lines of an older ThinkPad with plenty of RAM and a solid quadcore. My desktop is old, specs below. I don't know what would be the best way to sell it. My options are: sell it as a gaming rig sell it as a workstation in its current state sell it as an office computer with a smaller slim case and sell the PSU and GPU separately (they won't fit in a slim case) part it out completely, doubt all parts will sell. Below are the specs of the current machine as is: AMD Phenom II X4 955 @3.2GHz - (manufactured in 2010, got plenty of life in it, solid CPU but definitely won't sell as a CPU on its own.) ASUS M4A78-LTM micro atx board - (unlikely to sell on its own, again in good condition.) ASUS GTX750TI - (definitely no market for these things so won't sell on its own, best off inside a desktop I guess) WD Blue 1TB @7200rpm - (it's about 4 years old so going to be on its last legs, I can afford to buy a small low capacity SSD which would be more appropriate if selling as an office computer) Corsair CS450M - (80+ Gold rate, semi-modular. Don't know how long these last but might sell on its own.) Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Turbo - (got it a few months ago to help with thermal throttling when gaming, basically new.) NZXT H230 Black - (this case is out of production, no side window, sound insulation on panels, the top is lightly scuffed) 4GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3 @1600MHz 2x2 - (is there even a market for this anymore?) 4GB DDR3 Kingston @1600MHz 2x2 - (ditto) 2 Corsair AF120 fans Other components I've got lying around: Antex Minuet Micro-ATX slim case with 350W 80+ Bronze Power supply - (this could fit most of the components except GPU, with an SSD might sell as an office computer, I don't know. Won't really sell on its own, I doubt it) Akasa cooler - (cooler that was on before I changed to the Cooler Master.) Another thing to note, the Hyper 212 will need to be sold on its own as I can't actually fit the side panel on the desktop, it's too tall. So that's that. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the most money out of these dated components. Parting out might sell some but not most of the components; probably will not sell as a low end gaming rig (maybe some dumb kid buys it but it's by no means flashy looking); could be sold as a workstation with the GPU and HDD (it runs Fusion360 well, runs and renders in blender fairly well with the correct settings); could be sold as an office computer in the small case with an SSD and then the GPU, large case and PSU separate;; Any suggestions? Sorry for the long post.

I am trying to sell my PC to build a different one, but I have no idea where to start.

Specs: i3 6100 (~55 €) GTX 760 3 GB OEM (~55 €) OEM motherboard taken from an Asus G11CD gaming PC (about this I'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking something between 20 € and 40 €) And the case is Asus Essentio CM6830 (I'm just thinking about giving this for free) Thank you

Hi guys, I've been trying to do a lot of research but I feel like the situation I'm in is an awkward middle ground. I've been trying to sell my Lenovo Flex 3 15" for the last few months but I don't really know of I'm marketing/selling it the way it should be. It was purchased at $1200 in 2014. Specs- Core i7 5500U 8gb DDR3 RAM 1tb hdd 360° touchscreen I swapped the HDD for an SSD while I used it but swapped the HDD back in once I built myself a PC. While the SSD was in it was totally usable and the battery life wasn't awful (3-4 hours). I kept it in good condition. Is $400 too ambitious of an asking price on the local classifieds? I don't think it's at the point of being a salvage computer, even though it's going on 5 years old now. Should I be following some kind of rule of thumb for value? Thanks and let me know if pictures are necessary.

So I started playing video games on a WII and my dad's PS3, but once I saved up a bit of money, I decided to buy myself a computer in order to play some games with my (still) best friend. Now it's been a few years since then and I have now built my very own PC and have upgraded it a few times. This laptop is simply sitting around doing nothing and I am thinking of selling it on Kijiji (Canadian craigslist) but have no idea how to price it. It's decked out with only the latest and greatest A6-5200 4c/2Ghz, Radeon 8400 w/512Mb vram, 750Gb 5200 Rpm HDD, 8Gb DDR3L (could someone also tell me what the L is?) and a nice 15.5"LED LCD. I would also like to note that it has a full keyboard (numpad) and the I/O is not bad either; 1x Ethernet, 1x VGA, 1x HDMI, 3x USD 2.0 and an optical drive slot (no drive, but it does have a dust cover). Could anyone tell me how much this would be worth? Thanks

Hey everyone, Im probably going to be building a new gaming rig soon. I have a 980ti Hall of Fame edition card in my current set up. I was wondering if they go for more in the used market than a regular 980ti.

Heya! With all the builds and upgrades that people do, I feel like we are missing a portal/subforum/website where we as the community can sell/buy hardware from each other. Be it parts or entire builds. I believe a separate website might be more suited for this, but you decide. I simply believe that there is tons of hardware lurking among the members that they most likely would like to sell and others need. Make it happen please!

Hello ! I’m quite new on forums so I don’t really know if I’m in the right section... Either way I’m planning to build a new pc but for this I have to sell my old one but I’m not sure at what price to sell it... The specs are CPU : i7 5820k MOBO : MSI X99A Gaming pro carbon RAM : 16gb (4x4) HyperX Fury 2666Mhz AIO : Corsair H55 GPU : MSI GTX 1060 3gb PSU : 735W 80+~~ (I can switch it with the vs650 if needed) Case : NZXT S340 SSD : Samsung 850 Evo 250gb SSHD : Seagate Firecuda 2To I put it all together on pcpartpicker and new it’s worth about 1500€ so I took 25% off and it’s between 1000€-1100€. Do you think it’s a good deal ? I can show some pictures on demand. Thank you !

Kind of a weird request but I have an Asus PB277Q Monitor and I now travel around the states doing media for FIRST Robotics... My mom had thrown out the box from the closet and the only box I can find online to fit from uline.com... Has a minimum quantity of 25... I have been in the search for another monitor to keep at home...

Hey all, So I have my second whole new PC in progress (This one is technically my first but I now have none of the original components in it through years of upgrades, you know how it is). It's strange because I've never had a whole other spare PC to work on and truly put my dedication toward, so this work in progress is turning out to be the best thing I've ever done. Normally I'm rushing to get it back on because I don't have a PC temporarily. My current (outgoing) PC is as follows: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Motherboard 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC Corsair RM850 all in a white Corsair 760T (the holy grail case in about 2014) I still have all of the boxes for all of the components, including the case box with the nice good quality foam. All my drives will be coming with me, and I'll take my AIO to the new build too, which means I'll put the AMD Wraith Prism back on. My question is: would it be better to sell the PC as parts in their boxes, or to sell it as a whole mid-tier gaming PC? I believe it's still current enough to be a good mid-tier performer for most people - what do you think? I'm in the UK - so bear in mind I won't be able to use craigslist, and the UK used PC market is a lot smaller than the North American one. Cheers Rhys

Would a PC with the following specs be considered an entry-level PC (it's a desktop) ? Specs: i5-3330 3 GHz 4 GB Single Channel DDR3 RAM 465GB Space (HDD) 1 Optical Drive Integrated Graphics The reason why I'm asking is that I'd like to know what to label this PC as after I refurbish it a little and maybe add some stuff before eventually selling it.

So I have an Asus Rog Strix Z390 - E gaming motherboard that I used for a few months before I replaced it. I was using it with an i7-8700k and about a week after I got it I started to notice an issue with it. If I left the computer off overnight or for about a day and tried turning it on after a cold boot it wouldn't display anything and the VGA light would come on, if I restarted the computer after the VGA light came on it would boot up just fine. I tweaked around with some settings and found that it wouldn't do it if I disabled fast boot. It stopped doing it for a few months, until I upgraded the whole system, I got a 9900k, 2080ti, new memory, drives, etc. Even with everything in the system brand new it still did it. I did some research and found it's a fairly common issue on not just the Z390 - E but also the F and A. I talked to a few other people who said Asus was working on a bios update that will fix it because it is a software bug, I waited another couple months and still no fix so I just ended up getting a new motherboard. The motherboard still works great and is in fantastic condition, it has no other issues and was only used for 5 to 6 months. I was thinking about selling it but I'm debating on if I should just sell it now as is for fairly cheap because of the cold boot issue which I still don't think has been patched or try to RMA it and hopefully get one back that doesn't have the issue and then sell it. It's been a little while since I have contacted Asus about a patch, was thinking I could email them as well and see if it's been patched first.

Hola, thanks for reading this and I'm sorry if I'm posting it in the wrong section. So, I just built my very first rig last year and now I have one silly question to ask, which is as the the title suggests. Will it damage my pc if don't put RAM in it because I need to sell them and idk when I can buy another memory kit, maybe when things get better, hopefully..

I have a couple questions. I want a faster and better CPU. I have had some bad FPS with CPU Heavy games. Also, I would like to render videos and animations faster. I was thinking up upgrading to a good Coffee Lake processor. I was thinking of getting an i7 8700 (Costs less an I don't think I want to overclock.) My current CPU is an i5 6500. So here are my questions. How much could I sell my i5 6500 for? and can I upgrade from Sky Lake to Coffee Lake right now without buying any new parts other than the CPU. Current motherboard is MSI B150 Gaming M3. Thanks in advance!
