I wanna upgrade my System with an M.2 SSD, but I do not know which one to choose (2TB Crucial P3 Plus and 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus) . There is a sale rn in the store in which I always buy Computer Hardware and both Samsung and Crucial M.2 SSD are the same price. Both sound very good and both have 2TB Storage. Is one better than the other? Is one more reliable?

I looking start switching to using more SSD's for storage rather than HDDs like I mainly have now. I want to get a 2TB SSD for the bulk of my games as well as videos I edit. I was looking to get either a Samsung 2TB QVO ($229) or a Crucial 2TB BX SSD. ($199) Is the extra $30 from the Samsung a big difference for loading games and editing videos from that drive?

I need a 2nd drive. my first 1tb is nearly out of space. have an 860 evo 1tb ssd/non-m.2. i tried an m.2 120gb corsair and it login loops. i'll be going with a more recent distro, so it may solve that issue on this new drive. for gaming does m.2 vs ssd make any diffrence? also when i was on samsung's site i saw the pro version was slower. should i go pro, evo or plus?

I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what wont work here. I put together a new Build Including the following parts Motherboard: Gigabyte B450m DS3H BIOS Version.F41 Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 RAM: 8GB Hard Drive: Samsung SSD 860 QVO 1TB Now I CAN get it to boot and function on my old 500GB Dell HDD effortlessly. (Thats how I have been doing but Im revisiting this issue) How do I get this Samsung one to work?? I'm attaching a picture of the notes I took of everything I tried... My original issue was getting Win10 installed onto it, felt confident i got it...but then it kept going into an install loop every time I tried to turn on and LOAD the OS. I could see it was installed on the SSD, but it would still try to prompt me to install Win10, or would give me a "failure to boot" message Since all that failed, I reset everything to default and went about my life with the old HDD Since my last attempts I got a cable to plug the Samsung SSD into my front USB and I installed Windows directly onto it to bypass installing from a separate USB...still won't boot Please help...I want this new SSD to work so badly and I cannot figure out what to do or where the issue is

I've recently purchased a Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB solid state drive. I've successfully installed the product, in hopes that I could migrate some data from my old ssd to this new one. I used you're program and unfortunately I keep getting error coded, I've gone through many forums and help sites, but none have given me a solution. I've applied many of these methods and techniques but nothing has been fixed, I keep receiving the message, "Clone Failed - Error 0, Failed to Create Volume Snapshot. Result Code: 0x8004231f, Clone failed - Error 0 - Unable to match partition - Drive 1. Start Sector 233517056. (image attached) I only wish to migrate all my files from my current SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB) to my new 1 TB one. If I could receive some assistance, advice or tips I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Cameron.

Hello ! I came across a specific details that bothers me and I wonder if you guys could answer my question (for the purpose of the topic, we will only talk about the SSD 860 series) Samsung on their web site (specs section) advertise their SSD's exactly like this : QVO 860 (1TB) : Samsung V-NAND 4bit MLC EVO 860 (1TB) : Samsung V-NAND 3bit MLC PRO 860 (1TB) : Samsung V-NAND 2bit MLC The problem is that fundamentally if a cell has 2bits it's a MLC, if it has 3bits it's a TLC and if it has 4bits it's a QLC. This is my question: Why does Samsung keep advertising their SSD's as MLC if they are not ?? Is it partially true at a certain extent (maybe if it's just 20, 40, 60, 80 or even 100% true) or it's just marketing bullshit for sales ?

I own Samsung NP300E5X LAPTOP. Just upgraded from HDD to SSD, but for some reason my SSD is using half the speed its capable of. [ ''A word about SATA compatibility as well: SATA III is required for proper Samsung SSD performance, and if you have a SATA II mainboard then you can expect much slower speeds. '' ] In the Laptop specs it says that it has SATA III.... So why am i getting Half the speed of my SSD?

I want to know how long will my SSD last. As SMART tells that worst value is already achieved. I have also activated over provisioning. Also, suggest me how can I improve the health of SSD. -
Hi, I've got 3x 1TB samsung 960 evo. I have installed windows on 1 (C:/) and made a RAID0 (for my current video editing projects) with other 2 (D:/), on CrystalDiskMark Seq Q32T1 on single drive (C:/) I have 3334MB/s READ and 1925MB/s WRITE but on RAID0 (D:/) I have 3465MB/s READ and 3802MB/s WRITE. I'm happy with WRITE speed but shouldn't READ be around 6000MB/s ??? Threadripper 1950x Gigabyte X399 AORUS GAMING 7 (Triple PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 Direct from CPU)

I built my current Ryzen system in June and simply moved my current SSD from my old system into this new one. Windows 10 detected the new hardware, as expected, and everything has worked just fine ever since. Well, until I paid some closer attention to the performance of my SSD. I bought it used for $60 last year with only seven terabytes written (I believe they're rated for 150 TBW). I noticed last night my IOPS were about half what they used to be. I'm pretty sure I checked when I built my Ryzen system and it was performing as expected, but I'm not entirely sure. I've made sure to be running the latest AM4 B350 chipset drivers and updated the drive's firmware, but I'm not really sure what else could be causing this. I wonder if any other Ryzen owner have this problem, or if my SSD is beginning to fail? I don't notice any problems during normal use. I know I have the option of doing a clean install, but I'm trying to avoid that.

What's the difference between Samsung 850 Evo 250gb ssd MZ-75E250BW and Samsung 850 EVO M.2 MZ-N5E250BW SSD The first one has a temperature gaurd protection and is available for 13$ lesser than the second one. Is there any difference in performance other than the size of both SSDs

So I have an Asus Maximus VII Ranger and I want to get a new M.2 Samsung 960 Evo. The problem is that my motherboard has an M.2 port but its limited at 10Gbit/s. That means 960 Evo's potential is wasted on my motherboard. I thought about getting an M.2 to PCI 3.0 x4 adapter (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Lycom-DT-120-PCIe-Adapter-Support/dp/B00MYCQP38) to get the maximum speeds of the M.2. But I need to know if the M.2 will be bootable. Please help, I have been searching for days and found nothing. Thanks in advance!!

I have a MSI Z170 M5 motherboard with a Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SSD being used as the main drive. I am trying to replace it with a Samsung 960 EVO m.2 SSD. What is the easiest, fastest way to transfer everything to the m.2 so that I can use it as my main drive and give the 850 EVO to a friend. Specifically, can I just install the m.2 and work within my system to clone the drive and then take out the 2.5" drive without any problems? I running windows 10 home. Any tips or resources would help. Thanks.

My PC specifications are: Intel core i7-5930K 3.5GHz ASUS X99-PRO Motherboard GSkill Ripjaws HyperX 8GBx4 Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 500GB My problem is that the BIOS is not detecting the SSD. I have tried almost every setting in the BIOS related to storage device but still no success. However it is working absolutely fine in another PC with ASUS motherboard (Z97-K). What can be the possible reason, why is it not getting detected?

Hey guys, So I was just curios if I used this adapter on amazon, if I would get the full performance of the Samsung 950 Pro SSD using this converter. BTW I am using an Asus Z-97A motherboard which I know will not natively support the max speed of this drive. Thanks so much! http://www.amazon.com/Lycom-DT-120-PCIe-Adapter-Support/dp/B00MYCQP38/ref=pd_sim_147_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=41ui-dV0KoL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL320_SR294%2C320_&refRID=1ZJWBBDJA1CG8V0AC87Z

What is the fastest Samsung SSD and which do you recommend?

Hi, i burned my previous build ( not litteraly.. but the motherboard died). And im now building a skylake build, with an Asus Maximus VIII HERO, which supports m.2 ssd on the board. Have any of you tried to build a system with an m.2 disk ? does it have more stability than just a regular ssd ? or is it simply the size that makes it prefferably over a normal ssd ? Right now i do not see a downside to using a m.2 ssd as system disc. Does anyone know if there is any issues to using it as system ? compatibility issues ? my first entry ^^ hope you guys can enlighten me

Issue | Getting a Samsung 850 Evo 1tb to register in the BIOS/Windows on a RIVE mobo with latest BIOS. So I should have asked this a long time ago honestly cause I have just had this drive sitting in my case not doing anything, figured an upgrade would help out later on. But with the upgrade to Windows 10, I figured I would help a friend out and give him one of my 120gb SSDs and just try the 1tb SSD again. I guess it wasn't meant to be, after plugging it in again it showed one time in the BIOS and I thought it would stick. But ever since then, it won't show up in any shape or form. I've tried changing BIOS changes to SATA devices, resetting power and SATA cables, changing ports for the drive, etc and it just will not register in the BIOS or the OS itself. I've already had to RMA this drive once to Newegg cause I thought it was faulty, I never thought to RMA it again so much later after the problems didn't change before. I've also had to RMA this mobo 3 times, I gave up trying to get a completely working RIVE after the last time (Mainly USB issues and false RAM BSODs). The system would hang (when it was actually detected), I would get random BSODs in Win 8.1, and on random resets it would stop showing up in the BIOS once again. So I decided to just unplug it and leave it be like I said before not thinking anything of it until I did the upgrade so I could give my Vertex 3 120gb drive to one of my friends. I've been working with computers for around 15 years and have never come across something like this, I'm at a complete loss for how to go about fixing this. Any suggestions from people who might of had the same problem, or know what might be going on? CPU :: 3930k @ 4.5Ghz Motherboard :: Rampage Extreme IV RAM :: 64Gb Corsair Vengeance GPU :: EVGA 980 GTX Storage :: 2x 120Gb SSDs | 2Tb Seagate | 4Tb WD (Trying to replace a 120gb SSD with the 1tb) PSU :: Corsair AX860 Sound :: SoundBlaster Z OS :: Windows 10 64bit

Hi everyone, I'm trying to install windows 10 to my 500gb ssd. I am installing from a usb. I boot to the usb, go through the steps, select the ssd, once it installs all the media and restarts, it wants me to go through the process again. I try to boot to the ssd? says there's nothing on it, and so I'm stuck in this infinite loop of installing windows media to my ssd.

Hello there I have a bit of annoyance with my computers boot times. When I first got my SSD and installed that bad boy I was blown away by the speed, but for what ever reason now I'm stuck on the post code 9C for about the same time (approximately 10 seconds) as it took for the computer to entirely boot up in the past. recently I have gotten a new monitor an apple cinema display 24 inch with a usb pass through/hub which currently has a razer tartarus and a wireless Logitech mouse attached, both of which I had hooked up in the past though in a different configuration. In the motherboard is: the single usb which goes to the monitor, both USB connections from my K70 RGB, a razer sabertooth, a thrustmaster hotas, and the USB power for my turtle beach X12s. most recently I have added the keyboard and the turtlebeaches (leftovers from my Xbox 360 days). all the respective drivers I keep up to date, and if its important all the USB connections are full on my motherboard. \ If you need more information I'd of cores be happy to provide it. Thanks! Richard Troon-Salas
