Hey guys, so I really need to reset my pc, it has gotten aa little slow, and while trying to do so, I ended up with an error i.e. "There was a problem resetting your pc". I have tried it twice, watched a few youtube tutorials, but nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance for the help!

ive been trying to reset my laptop for about 5 hours this afternoon, until suddenly an error pops up, saying that it could not reset and there were NO changes made whatsoever. the screen was blue, much like that of the advanced options screen, and a very brief summary of what happened. there was no error code, no problem specification and no working solution. ive removed software manually, using third party software to make sure there were no residue files, but again, to no prevail, it kept coming up with the same issue. i hope someone here has some fancy way to fix this, as ive been unable to install ANYTHING from microsoft store (dolby access mainly for my RIG 500). even the sign in screen was coming up with an error stating i was not connected to any internet, even though i was at the time, watching youtube, browsing my primary webpage and listening to music. again, no solution worked for that too, and that is what lead em to this. please please please please help my worthless ass and at least give me command lines for CMD or something that could help me out here

MSI GL73 8rd specs storage space pawn
Allmightyballs posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I just picked up a msi Gl73 8rd from a pawn shop. It reset it using the msi factory settings way (youtube tutorial) & updated fine after but it seems slow starting up & I feel space is missing. What type of storage comes factory? Ive got 558 on C drive & 349 on "data". Also dragon center shows 1T HD but this PC shows 558 & 465 free on C & 349 on "data". The OS loads from the C drive(HD) instead of what seems to be the SSD. Does this sound normal &or could something be taking up space? Can I just add another 8 gig stick or should I replace that with 32?(what I thought this should have) I feel like parts are missing or changed & MSI website doesn't state size of said drives. Note- I have it in my head its a 1T HD & the data is an ssd & the OS should boot from the ssd Any advice on the subject is or laptop itself is greatly appreciated( its replacing a HP stream13 nightmare for daily use) -
I F'd up. I dont know exactly what I did, or how to fix it. The secret technique of using google, and other search engines, to searh for a solution has failed me thus far. My goal is to avoid factory resetting the phone if possible. The Device: Oneplus 6 Adroid 10 Oxygen OS 10.3.5 Not Rooted The Problem: While playing with the ability to disable/forcibly stop apps and clearing un-needed application cache/storage, I seem to have broken anything related to google. Maps, Drive, Docs, Gmail, Chrome, App Store, Google Play Services, and anything with a "login with google" option, all buffer infinitely or crash. This is exclusively on my personal phone, as I can use the account perfectly on my work phone, desktop, and laptop. (All on the same network, wired/wireless.) (Cannot use the work phone as a daily driver, it is a fab phone) Some of these applications will inform me that "there was a problem communicating with google servers" (google play services), or that there is no internet connection, when there is certainly an internet connection (google maps). Attempted Solutions: Yes, I tried rebooting. After each attempted solution, rebooting is something I have done. Settings > Apps and Notifications > See All Apps > 3 Dots on the top right > Reset App Preferences > Reset Apps App preferences were confirmed to have been reset. Did not work, even after reboot. Google Play Store started working for a short time, and I updated all apps to the most recent versions. Then it stopped working after reseting app preferences. I can still access the front page of the store, but going to "My Apps and Games", or anything under the 3 bar menu in the top left, causes it to buffer infintely. Cleared Cache and storage of all google related applications. Removing/Adding google accounts: Every time I try to add or remove a google account under: Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Google (non google related accounts can be added perfectly fine) Settings > Accounts > select existing account > Remove Account It returns me to the "Accounts" menu and freezes the settings application. It magically removed my secondary and tertiary google accounts from the phone, one day after I tried to delete them. I have yet to remove my primary acccount, due to my inability to add it back. Last Ditch Effort: I am not phone person, so any advice at this point would be most appreciated. I do not want believe googles help pages, which say resetting my phone is the only option left. Help me LTT Forums. You're my only hope.

Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 Msi b450 tomahawk max Ripjaws 5 3600 mhz 16GB Sapphire pulse 5600 XT Kingston A2000 250gb nvme ssd Crucial bx500 2.5” SSD 1 TB EVGA 600 BR PSU so about a month ago I had this bootlooping issue where the computer would restart about every 10 seconds once windows had started up. Hitting delete and staying in the bios seemed to keep the computer from restarting but it would reset after a couple of seconds on the windows homescreen. I took it to an IT place and they diagnosed an issue with an old HDD I was using. But now a month later with windows freshly installed on a clean NVME SSD, the problem has started again. Took it to said IT place again, they reinstalled windows on it and cleaned the drives, said there were no hardware issues, gave it back to me and it started rebooting again. I can’t normally get to the desktop screen long enough to do anything and if I try to reinstall windows the computer will normally restart itself before the process is complete. Here’s what has been tried: -Several reinstalls of windows, reinstalls of all the drivers -windows is up to date, as well as the bios and all drivers for all the appropriate hardware -prior to full reinstalls windows had been reset quite a few times -restored bios settings to default multiple times -computer is currently completely disassembled and i’m gonna reassemble it incase it was some kind of grounding issue The IT place assured me that there wasn’t any problems with hardware but I don’t really trust them now that they’ve failed to fully fix the problem twice. The weird thing I find is that the problem was solved for a month only to start again after 6 weeks of hitch-free use. A buddy of mine is getting a new power supply so once I can get my hands on the old one i’ll see if that makes a difference Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, so I am very new to owning a PC in the windows realm. I have only owned Apple computers and never really did anything tech related. I bought the NZXT streaming PC a few months ago to get into PC gaming. However, recently I have been having problems with programs and windows tools not working, as well as programs telling me I didn't have the appropriate permissions. I may have gotten in over my head, but I tried to take ownership over all my C: Drive files, which was my first mistake. Later, I changed my user name in regedit which has also caused issues locating my account. Recently, my Xbox game bar app that comes with windows, is not working correctly so I attempted to uninstall it using PowerShell. After it was removed, I went to the windows store to reinstall it and I get an error saying that it wont install. So then I made a second account on the computer and the game bar works on that account. So I copied all of the Xbox app files from that account and tried to replace them with the ones in my account. Windows told me I don't have the required permissions to do that. So then I decided to "Create a system image" just in case I messed things up more. However, when I try to create a system image I get an error message saying "the backup application could not start due to an internal error" and it will not let me create the image. Moreover, I tried creating a restore point, but when I tried to restore to the restore point I created, windows tells me that it could not restore successfully. So I decided to do a full system restore of windows and delete all my files. However, after this was finished it still did not fix things. I feel as if the restore didn't not do what I thought it would do, even my desktop background stayed the same. At this point I don't know what to do. I know that was wordy, but all I want is to restore my PC and operating system like it was when I first got it. - restore all the ownership/security settings to default - restore all system files that windows uses so things like game bar work again - restore my username to the way it was Basically a fresh start. I was going to format the C/ drive, but the computer came with windows 10 already installed and I didnt want to lose that. Right now im at a loss of what to do and I would really appreciate any help. Lastly, feel free to educate me on the correct way to grant permissions to things when it tells me I need I dont have the correct permissions. Also feel free to send me anything that you feel is important information that new PC enthusiast should know and understand. I want to know what im doing and currently I feel overwhelmed and nervous that my PC wont work right anymore.

Hi so I did my first build last week using Asus Prime B450M-A and Ryzen 5 3500X. It was working completely until yesterday i decided to manage my cables for a cleaner look. After doing so, my pc is not booting up anymore. I noticed there was no beep during startup anymore which makes leads me to think this is a POST problem. The peripheral fans, processor cooler fan, and gpu fans are working. But the monitor says "no display." Even the rgb on the RAM is lighting up. I have searched google for troubleshooting tips and these are what I've done so far: - Remove both rams then turning it on - remove one ram and leave one on either slot A2 or B2 (ive tried every combination) - checked my connections but everything looks fine - checked my mobo to see if there are burns or bends or if something is shorting but there is none - reset CMOS by removing the battery and shorting the reset headers as said in the manual for about 2 hours I think ive done almost anything except check for cpu but im hesitant to do thst since google says its rare to destroy the cpu especially for a 1 week old build. I might even damage it more. I also dont have extra psu or gpu or motherboard to troubleshoot. What do you suggest i try more? Do you think this is still fixable? If not, which part do you think is the problem? Im guessing the motherboard but i cant believe it since it's very new and it was just working before i organized my cables. Thanks.

Hello everyone. I am having an issue that is almost driving me crazy. I have an HP Laptop (Spectre X360 to be exact, from late 2015) with Windows 10 64-bit installed and a resistive stylus that is specifically made for that series of laptops. Normally, if the tip of the stylus is brought closer to the screen, it acts as a cursor. In order to create input with it, one needs to touch it to the screen and apply some amount of pressure. The problem is, from time to time. I get this weird problem with the stylus where it creates input without touching the screen whatsoever. I just hold it static and it creates random lines. In the video, you can see exactly what I am talking about - https://streamable.com/qgio08 This stylus came with no drivers or any kind of installation media. So far, I have tried to "uninstall" the device from the device manager and restart the computer hoping it would fix it. Which didn't work. Interestingly enough, if I lock the computer with Win+L combination, it behaves normally there. So, at this point I am fairly positive that it is a software related issue. But I have no software that could remotely be interfering with the stylus operation whatsoever. My touchscreen is also disabled and even if it didn't it should not be interfering with the stylus anyway. The only "fix" to this issue is either going back to the restore point I created earlier but this sometimes doesn't work either. Another way (which has always worked the few times I tried it) is "Resetting" the PC which removes all the software. Am I right in assuming that there must be a certain folder somewhere that has files controlling stylus behaviour? If yes, where is this folder located? My interaction with HP Tech Support was egregious as they stated firmly that there is no such folder, some agents even went so far as to claim that some device my neighbours using may be "interfering" with the stylus which is a silly thing to claim since it goes away on a freshly reset account. At this point, I am totally clueless regarding how to fix this abomination. I would more than appreciate if anyone gives me specific instructions as to how I should diagnose this issue as I do not want to reset the PC every few months. The frustrating part is that I could not get any specific hints on how I could move further. Let's say I create a new user account where this issue doesn't happen. How should I compare this with the existing account to determine what is the difference between those 2 that causes this? If I need to provide more information regarding my computer or anything else, please let me know. Thanks to everyone in advance. UPDATE: I created a new local user account and tried the stylus behaviour there. Interestingly inside OneNote it behaves normally, but outside of it it goes berserk again. It seems the pen "chooses" to misbehave on certain settings... Another program that I have never seen the pen "misbehave" is the small sticky note app that comes natively with Windows 10. I hope these clues can help me find the right way.

Hia, I bought and fixed a server a few weeks ago, installed some new hardware and the newest version of Linux Mint. I've been messing around with different software solutions for what I wanna do and I finally have everything planned. The problem is, now I've got a very messy server with lots of different crap on it and I wanna wipe it completely. There is one SSD (with OS) and two HDD's (formatted with ZFS) in the machine and I wanna wipe everything, the ZFS formatting, all files and start all new. How would I best go about doing that? Cheers

When did it start and other problems My 3-year-old PC has been acting weirdly recently. First, it got weird graphic glitches that have been here since February I think, but that seems to have been solved with my very recent Windows reset (yesterday). Recent Reboot. Ever since a couple of weeks ago, my PC has been rebooting out of nowhere. No error message on Mobo, no blue screen, not under load, just a force reset when browsing or doing anything. Troubleshooting I have reset windows, reinstalled all drivers including BIOS, installed a new CPU cooler (it was too hot for comfort with the stock cooler). What to do now? I believe that this makes me think it is a hardware problem? I recently changed case and have now, today after my most recent crash, unplugged my Case power button if that maybe was the problem. If this doesn't help I want help with what hardware that could be causing this. Here are my thoughts: PSU, mine is 3 years old and only 80+ standard (check specs below) Motherboard, it did get some cables stuck under it and might maybe (very unlikely) have scratched the underside of it? Malfunctioning Graphics card. I have recently had trouble with 2 monitors but it seems odd to have this caused a forced restart of the PC Help Do you think I got this right, or do you have any other suggestions on what could be the cause of this force restarting issue? Every i/o port seems to reset every so often on my PC. The headphone jack, ethernet, and all usb slots seem to restart randomly. At first i thought it was overheating because my fans were not running. So, I've installed new fans, and still having the same issue. Specs: Mobo: N/A GPU: RX 480 CPU: i7-8700 16gb ddr4 ram Note: I recently did have like a 3 inch drop and spilled like, little specs of milk inside the case. I cleaned up what I could and made sure none of the liquid hit anything important. It really was a very small spill.

So, I had to perform a cmos reset by removing the battery, and now it has a boot artifact, always with the wame pattern. Also, fans sound like they're kinda fast. It doesn't go past that. I dont know what to do

Hi Guys! My sister has an HP Pavilion X2 and she wanted to reset it so we did that in the Windows 10 settings, and she let it run overnight and it was stuck on 60% throughout the whole night. When she woke up, she decided to turn it off with the power button and when she turned it on again, it was stuck in a boot loop and for a split second, this could be seen: We decided to try and wait it out but after a few hours of no progress my sister turned it off again and before being stuck in a boot loop again, this was on the screen: Note that the keyboard of the laptop practically doesn't work so that's that. Does anyone know a solution to this?

In preparation to sell my computer, I’m trying to reset the pc and remove all my information but I’ve ran into some issues, here’s what I’ve done so far: Tried to reset PC through settings - update & security- recovery - reset this pc - remove everything (got error message: ‘could not find recovery environment’) I tried to use this guide to create a recovery drive: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10/how-to-create-a-recovery-drive-for-reinstalling/58df9c7d-84de-4652-9952-8bac34abc6c5 I ran into issues again in the ‘troubleshoot’ page after restarting with the USB device as there was no ‘recover from a drive’ option as shown in the last image on the guide (if it’s helpful, the options I got on the troubleshooting page were: system restore, go back to the previous version, system image recovery, startup repair, command prompt, and uefi firmware settings) Any suggestions would be appreciated

so after my pc went horribly slow from one second to the other with no errors on memtest, cpu and gpu tests, and no viruses i thought it would just be time to do a full reset and wipe everything. that was around 5 hours ago. went to 10% within 45 minutes and has been stuck at 10% for 4-5 hours now. ive reset many laptops and computers before and never had a problem like this. shall i just let it run? there were around 500 gibs of games and files on the ssd/hdd thanks

I wasn't sure exactly where to put this since it seemed to fit under a lot of categories. I found this answer today even though I've searched it before, and after Jan 11th, 2018. It's been driving me crazy for the longest time. Here's the quote in case the link breaks: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3589013/nvidia-color-settings-resetting-boot-startup.html#r20584354 I just deleted the triggers: Hope this helps!

Hi all, Had a failed update and my latop wont repair itself or boot. Tried booting into the win10 media creation tool on a usb and repair it that way (using the built in repair and going off various cmd youtube tutorials), but nothing worked... So I've gone into ubuntu on a seperate drive and copied most of my stuff. Was going to do a fresh reinstall, but got to the disk selection window and saw this: My latops SSD is 128GB, thus the main drive is obviously the one selected... Not sure why there are so many recovery partitions (one of which is 13gb wow), might have something to do with the cmd magic I tried before... Nevertheless, I wanted to ask for opinions on what to do. Should I just use the selected partition and ignore the rest? or should I delete them to free up some space on my main drive? I know that even if you select a fresh reinstall, windows still keeps your old files in windows.old (which would be nice to have). would deleting these delete that windows.old file? Thanks in advance.

So I'm in a bit of a difficult situation here, I'm trying to reset Windows 10 Home on a HP laptop, but the problem is, I don't know how. The start menu won't open, it comes up with a dialogue saying Critical Error, please sign out so we can try to fix it, and of course that doesn't seem to work... and Action Center won't open... Is there any way I can get into the Windows 10 'Metro App' settings area through the run prompt? Any help appreciated

Few months ago my system started randomly restarting and shutting down (cutting off) so I reinstalled windows and everything was fine until a week back, where it started resetting again and more frequently. Sometimes the monitors cut off and pc is running and I have to hard reset. Sometimes it resets on its own. Sometimes it just cuts off. I noticed that some of the SATA ports on my motherboard stopped working and will at times randomly detect/not detect my HDD. It restarts randomly, sometimes when I'm playing games and sometimes when nothing is running at all. The PC is over 4 years old (GPU 3 years) and I hope its not a motherboard/PSU/GPU issue as warranty has passed. Note that I sometimes run my PC for extended periods of time and it works fine, but it suddenly resets and once it does it resets quite frequently I do not have access to additional GPUs/mobo/CPU/PSU to test. I play overwatch a lot, and I've encountered a reset only once so far. I develop using unreal engine and have encountered more resets while using it. Things I have done : Reinstall OS (again) Run memtest (pass) Remove overclock System Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit Intel i7 4770k @ stock clocks with corsair h100i Asrock Extreme 6AC 4x4GB memory Zotac Nvidia GTX970 120GB SSD Samsung 840 Evo for OS 250GB SSD Samsung 850 Evo for programs 2 TB HDD Seagate ST2000VX003 for data 800w Corsair gs 800

Taking my computer in... For a reset. In like 10 minutes. So now I am thinking. What will the experience be like right when I get it back. What will I do. And if it will be, less of a benefit. Than an advantage. So what do you think. And what do you think will go wrong. Will it affect the hard drive, make it even slower? I don't know really.
