Hi all, I recently got a Razer Blade 14 as an RMA replacement for my Razer Book since they don't make that model anymore (broken display cable on the Razer Book). The battery on this new Razer Blade laptop dies extremely quickly. Approximately 1% per minute while doing basic web browsing or just idling. Why is the battery draining so fast? What can I do to fix it? I have a 3 hour lecture and the laptop can't even make it through one class. Also I am running the latest Firmware that was released which was supposed to help with battery life -- it didn't. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi all- I am looking to get a new laptop for college and my budget is anything around $1000. I was looking for a windows machine as that is what my school mostly uses. I do not really need it for any type of gaming since I have a desktop but if it can that would be a plus. I was thinking something like the Razer Book or Blade since I like the big trackpad like the Apple MacBooks but if theres anything similar I would also consider it. I was also thinking the Framework Laptop Kit could be a possibility. What do you guys think? I am open to used laptops - the Razer Blade would most likely need to be used. Also for some reason I can't find the Razer Book at MSRP it seems like people are scalping the price on them for some reason. Input is greatly appreciated

So, I recently purchased a used 2020 Razer Blade 15 RTX 2070. The person I had purchased the device from had it for less than a year and wanted to sell it to build a gaming rig. Though the laptop is still relatively new it is having some performance issues when playing games. When I should be getting frame rates in the 70-100s I am getting frame rate in the 30-60s. This coupled with thermals in the 90c range. I've tried everything I can think of to increase the performance, i.e., setting my computer to high performance, updating all of my drivers, closing all background applications, undervolting the CPU to prevent thermal throttling, and more. I'm starting to think that the issue is a hardware one such as thermal paste no being properly applied, dirty fans (Although I have used an air can on the fans), and or something else. Besides the issue with performance and thermals the battery life is not lasting as long as the advertised 5 hours. If I had to guess it is probably due to the temp issues damaging the battery. If anyone had any other idea about what could be going wrong with my laptop please let me know. ╰(*°▽°*)╯

I want to purchase a dock for the Razer Blade 15 (Early 2020 Advanced Model). I have tried the DELL WD19TB, only to find that the USB and ethernet wouldn't work. I tried all the drivers, even a firmware update but the PC wouldn't detect the dock to start the firmware update - even on an XPS. Having spoken to a DELL engineer whilst at work, it seems like DELL Docks (especially thunderbolt) are definitely not high up on the reliability scale - this does make sense given the amount of DELL dock issues we have had to deal with at work. I'm returning the Dell WD19TB today, and am thinking about the Lenovo 40AN0135EU - THINKPAD THUNDERBOLT 3 DOCK GEN 2 as a next attempt - we have used lenovo docks at work before and I can't think of anyone having issues with them before (granted we have never used the dock with a Razer Blade). Can someone let me know if they have tried/used this with the Razer before, and what levels of success you got with it? Before anyone asks, yes I have done the classic amazon search for "thunderbolt dock", but it seems that all the generic docks (from Elgato, Belkin, Startech, CalDigit, etc.) all either do not have sufficient display ports (I need at least 2 full size displayport ports) or do not supply sufficient power, I'm looking for at least 130W (I know that's not the full 230W that can be used to charge the Razer, but should be enough to stop it discharging when the laptop is in normal use) - trickle-charging is not a problem for me, as I will be having the laptop "docked" for 8+ hours at a time. The Razer Blade 15 Early 2020 Advanced laptop does support USB-C charging - it worked with the DELL WD19TB, and it works with my ~85W Macbook Pro charger, so that's not a worry for me. I wish that Razer would just make a TB3 dock, they're really good with build quality and I have no doubt that it would be a high class "top notch" dock. It would probably get them a lot of money too, manufacturing a device to turn a gaming laptop into a fully-fledged gaming desktop setup with a single cable. First time using this forum, make me proud fellow IT-ers!

Hello. I had the chance to buy a razer blade recently. I have been using the computer for 2 weeks. There was no problem except warming up. During the game (I tried CS: GO, Fall Guys, GTA-5, while playing LoL); GPU (RTX 2070 Max-Q), changes between 70-80 C. (Approx 70 for LoL, and 80 for GTA.) CPU (i7-9750H), changes between 80-90 C. As I read from some forums, i am not worried that it gets hot while playing games, it doesnt bother me. Generally, they talk about heating problems in most of the gaming laptops. In a few razer blade test videos I watched, the temperatures were more or less like mine. My main concern is that the computer gets too hot when I'm not playing games. I didn't buy this computer with the main purpose of gaming. I needed a laptop for long-term use. I saw that the razer blade was highly praised and the processor graphics card, etc. was good enough for me. Today I turned on my computer, which was completely cold. I just watched Netflix for about 50 minutes. During this time I used the computer on battery. I will add photos of the degrees below. The computer goes back and forth between 55-60 degrees. I can never put the computer on my knees or anything. The case is made of titanium (I am not sure, it could also be aluminum), so I am feeling the heat even more. I am writing here because I do not know if it is normal for this razer blade to get so hot when using it on idle. In the first photo, when using on idle, there are temperatures, how much of the processor is used and speed values in mhz. The other 3 photos belong to the ThrottleStop application where I did the undervolt process. I use this profile while only on battery. I tried many things, but somehow I could not lower the computer to 40-45 degrees. Is it normal to get this hot while using on idle? I also couldn't understand what caused it to get so hot. Only 5-10% of the CPU is used and thanks to throttlestop the CPU does not go above 1.5 GHz, but for some reason the laptop does not go below 55 degrees. I would be very happy if you could help me work this out. I leave the specs of the computer below. Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model (Mid-2019) CPU: Intel i7-9750H GPU: RTX 2070 Max-Q Ram: 16 GB Display: 240 Hz, 1080p

Hello, I think it's obvious at this stage that my battery needs a replacement. But I wanted to discuss it here to hear your experiences and see if I can avoid damaging the battery like this again. So I've had my Blade 15 Advanced Model 2018 for 2 years now, it's been an absolute beast, gaming and work, home theater laptop, renderer, mf been put to work. Mid its lifecycle, it began to run naturally hot, I remember it for the first year running the CPU and GPU at temps in the low 40's Celsius at idle. And those temps has risen up gradually over time. Nowadays it runs high 60's-mid 70's. GPU is always locked around 74C. Those are idling temps or with minimal CPU load, like chrome and Visual Studio Code. That's heat, the major issue is the inflated battery though, the battery is so inflated that, 1) the touchpad doesn't click, and has horrible sensitivity, 2) the chassis itself is bent upwards and downwards, so the bottom of the laptop is bent out like its pregnant with a fat battery, and the lower part of the keyboard too, is the same way. 3) The laptop lid doesn't close comfortably, like, the magnets do not hold it from both right and left ends because of the pregnant battery. Discussion: yes, obviously I'm replacing the battery, but is the sucker going to die out again soon? Is there anything specific I can do to prevent future battery from doing this? Should I not even bother and just take out this battery and work the laptop batteryless? Does the heat cause the battery to inflate? or vise-versa? the inflated battery causes heat? I'm down making this a double topic, the battery and the heat issue, what can I do about the heat? Undervolting for example, I do not mind at all losing half my current performance for reducing the heat (and noise).

Hello! So I have the Razer Blade 2017 with the i7-7700HQ and GTX 1060. Within the last year I've noticed that in certain games my laptop will practically stop charging even though it's plugged in while playing games. This will cause a massive FPS drop to 30 FPS and happens without warning. From what I've gathered, I've only seen it drop while playing CS:GO and Dota 2. While playing games like League and Warzone there are no problems at all. This problem occurs in stutters and I can't seem to figure out what it is. I've tried throttling the CPU and updating the drivers. It didn't used to happen but as of late 2019 it happens every time I play CS. I have a video of it here https://streamable.com/6gz04 You can see 3 separate times at the beginning walking through doors, the middle, and the end walking through doors. FPS is in the top right corner to show the loss because the video doesn't show it too well (I think it got cut down to 30FPS after I edited it). Also the Windows noise was just because I hit something wrong sorry in advance. Thanks for your help!

Hey guys, looking for a laptop that is sufficient for my mobile DAW and premiere/after effects needs. I guess 1660 / 2060 ish does it. (apart from premiere, its mostly CS and LoL). I wanna switch to single device, so it'd have to replace my ipad pro as well. So I guess im looking for a 120 / 144hz razer blade 15. but is there a laptop thats basically that, but 2in1, with a pen as well? I use the pen for marking up and taking notes on thousands of pages in adobe acrobat. It doesnt need to be an ultra book, but shouldnt be too bulky and "gamery looking". I post this here, since I couldnt find any product like that (lenovo, msi, razer etc). So its kinda like a question about the market in general. Do you think my use case is just too rare? (needing 2in1, to actually hand write on the laptop; but the latter is also like a creator machine) Thanks for your time, Chris!

I bought a refurbished 2018 Razer Blade from eBay (in hindsight, probably a bad move) that was initially working fine out of the box. However, a month into using it, some keys on the keyboard were either not registering any input at all or were registering multiple keystrokes at once (mainly on the left side). This occurred after I had initially wiped the keyboard with a alcohol-damp (not wet) microfiber cloth, allowed to air dry, and later plugged in a Microsoft XBox USB controller adapter. I noticed the keys became unresponsive after trying to use the XBox controller, so I uninstalled the driver. That didn't work. I turned off the laptop for a full 48 hours to allow any residue to fully dry, but that too didn't work. Since the laptop was basically a fresh install, I even reset the Windows 10 installation, fully updated, but no luck. An external USB keyboard works fine, however. I'm stuck as to what to do next. Has anyone else had a similar problem with this laptop? What have you tried or are your recommendations? Thanks!

Hello Everyone, i just sold my Macbook pro (mid 2015) [I7 - 16B - 256 NVME - Retina Display], and i want to get a new laptop in the windows world. what i need is something with good graphics for photography editing and a little gaming, i never liked those gamer laptops that are huge, so i'm looking at something slim and sober. right now i am looking for something like a Dell XPS or a Razer Blade 15": i'll like to go with the razer, but the only version with 4k oled display is to expensive (i don't need the top of the line GPU), and i want a good screen for editing. i'm not looking for hard gaming so i'm not so worried about temps. my budget is something around 2k. so, any recommendations? i don't know about other good brands that are like this form factor (not the gaming type like an MSI GE6X)

Whats up guys, new to the LTT forums... just looking for some use-based recommendations. Heres the deal, Ive always had 17" gaming laptops for my job, always, and finally I've decided my backs had enough traveling with them, so I ordered a 2017 Razer Blade 14" Whats a good bag that will protek, but ultimately will be a nice sleek change from massive 4 zipper bags I was having to shop for my 17" Bonus points for cross body strap options.

Hello everyone!i'm new on the forum, nice to meet you! i'm searching for a new laptop for graphic design and 3d modelling work after my loyal Asus X555 started dying on me, hope you can help me! My budget is around 2000€, i'll be purchasing from France I'm looking for a thin and light 15.6" laptop, as i would be taking it with me to college very often Full HD (1920x1080) with good sRGB coverage (min 90%) 512GB of storage or more 16GB of Ram or more I mostly use the adobe suite (PS/AI/ID/XD/AE) and cinema 4d (sometimes 3ds max too) I also plan to use it for some casual gaming (say AAA rpgs like witcher, assassin creed or the upcoming cyberpunk 2077 at med-high settings with decent fps) Can last at least 4h on casual web surf / writing text on MS Word and streaming netflix on say 75% brightness i did some research on thin and light gaming laptops on my side, and managed to narrowed it more or less to the Razer blade 2019 and MSI P65/GS65 8RF , i found both at a local re seller for ≈2000€ (for the Razer blade 15 Rtx2070 Max-q,16GBRAM,512GB) and 1730€ (for the P65 8rf (Gtx2070 Max-q,16GBRAM,512GB), but i read some pretty terrible thing about both on reddit and such (poor build quality for the msi, and poor QC that may lead to random failure and pretty high temps for the razer).i would be really grateful if you helped me choose between the two or if you can suggest to me another recommandations that would fit my needsThanks!

Like the title says, I launched afterburner to see temps and such and I noticed that about every 10 seconds on the dot I get a notification saying "Connection to GPU 1 lost." This is followed by a steep drop on the charts to "0" for all readings on GPU 1, which is then followed by a rise again to normal readings. Now normally I wouldn't consider this such a problem considering that my laptop is running still running software-wise just fine. However, 2 days ago my HDMI port stopped working. All pins look just fine in the port and the cable definitely still works. Since I used afterburner about 1 week ago and it was just fine, I am assuming that these two are somehow linked. Does anybody know what the problem could be or how I could fix it? Or if it is even a problem at all? Thank you for your help ?

Hey Guys, I'm currently upgrading from the old Razer Blade to the new RTX Line. But while checking the different configurations I noticed that the 2060 is a "normal" Laptop 2060 and the 2070 (and 2080) are max Q designs. I looked for a comparison chart and found this: https://www.notebookcheck.net/GeForce-RTX-2070-Max-Q-vs-GeForce-RTX-2060-Laptop_9611_9581.247598.0.html And judging from that Notebookcheck Comparison, the 2060 Version is as powerful as the 2070 or even stronger. Is that correct? Am I missing something? I'm looking to game and do some Photo editing on it.

Welcome friends and tag along with me while I tell you this fantastic tale of Razer fucking me over! It all starts after being a broke Razer fan years ago and all of the sudden having enough money to buy a laptop that not only looks cool but performs well in a very compact package. So I bought a Razer Blade late 2017 with a GTX 1060 and a 7700 hq professor. Life was good! It was like driving a super car. Everyone wowed at the keyboard and hundreds of Mac owners asked if their Mac could do that. However a couple weeks ago while I was typing a FUCKING Word document my laptops display went black in a weird way, keyboard changed color and the fans went berserk. I tried to give it a minute and nothing. Then I thought “stupid thing crashed” and held down the power key so it could be rebooted. Surprise, the only that that happened was a faint light coming from the capslock button! I waited for morning to give Razer a call and solve it however when morning came I was told to boot into bios which I could not accomplish as my PC was “dead”. No matter what I tried I just could not get it to work. After a small search on the web I found out that many owners had the exact same thing happen to them and that it all comes back to being a design flaw. Funny thing is I was out of warranty and the Razer tech support guy called Kahlil told me to pay a fee to get the computer to the US and asses the problem... I insisted they cover it sinse it is a design flaw and guess what? Apparently their policies say that EVEN if it is a Razer design flaw they are not responsible after my warranty ended... I gave them hell and no matter what I said I got the same “fuck you” like answer back. People bitch and moan about Mac, but I had a 2013 15 inch MacBook and in 2017 I took it to the shop because of a display issue and they gave me free repairs because of a design flaw. Then after the computer broke again they gave me a new one. So the morale of the story is fuck Apple, but super fuck Razer. Now I have a 3000 dollar brick

Hi guys, I'm starting to get a real headache trying to find the perfect laptop that has the build quality that of a MacBook Pro but with a GTX 1060 or higher. By build quality, I mean: top notch screen (IPS panel, great viewing angles, around or more than 400 nits, sRGB 100%, 100-97% Adobe etc, minimum screen wobble), great centered keyboard without the numpad, centered track pad with good palm rejection, non flimsy chassis, non-gamerish design. I was thinking about the new Razer Blade 15", but after watching some reviews, realized that the screen is quite dim compared to that of a mac book (unless you opt of the 4K Touch screen which apparently has more nits and has better color quality). But then the price blows out of proportion (as that model is also only GTX 1070 + 512GB SSD only) and there's still other issues with it, like the weird arrow key positioning on the keyboard and poor palm rejection of the track pad. A friend at work got the Gigabyte Aero 15", which I was considering at some point as well, but after trying it, realized that the build quality is mediocre - screen's very wobbly, not the best viewing angles, keyboard is meh, etc. Then I found out that one of the best non-apple laptop screens out of there is that of the 2018 Dell XPS 15" and I was like ok, that's a good start... also it has a centered keyboard, good trackpad, etc... BUT it only comes with a GTX 1050 TI (WHY?!). So now I'm looking into MSI GS65 Stealth Thin, but I haven't yet found the proof that the screen is up to par with a MacBook Pro. Some other alternative ideas: Getting the HP Spectre 360 vega + eGPU, but in their latest model they reverted to a full on keyboard with numpad + trackpad on the left (also spectre + eGPU raises the price up to the Razer Blade 15" 4K model). Any recommendations would be much appreciated, also any comments about the screen quality of the MSI GS65. Also any HP Spectre 360 vega owners here, what are your impressions? A summary of my priorities: 1) Perfect 15" screen. 2) Great keyboard (TKL, centered) + trackpad (good palm rejection). 3) Solid chassis. 4) Good thermals. 5) At least a GTX 1060 or higher or, alternatively, something much more underpowered but with an eGPU option.

Hi All. I recently installed ubuntu on my Razer Blade 14 B6 (GTX 1060) and I found some major problems with it. 1. Graphics driver error I tried many solutions online but none of them worked. I installed nvidia driver but the computer do not use it anyway. And I check nvidia xServer and Screen X and GPU options were missing. 2. Dual monitor error Whenever I connect the laptop to the second monitor, the screen turns black with some broken pixels. When I disconnect the hdmi, log-in screen appears and works again. I think this might be because Graphics driver error. 3. PCIE error When I tried to fix Graphics driver, some people on internet said they disabled graphics interface by going to terminal-like screen by pressing [ctrl + alt + f2] or [ctrl + alt + f3], then try to install Nvidia graphics after disabling lightdm and gdm. And while I was trying that, the pcie error massage was continuously appearing. Has anyone successfully installed Ubuntu or any other Linux on Razer Blade 14? Can someone help? Thanks

heya, so i have bought this 2017 razer blade 14 with 500gb, and i use a razecore v2 on 2 monitors, eitherway the razer core v2 usbs and ethernet does not function either but the worst part is that it wont read my external hardrives fast enough to play any games on them, i have tried multiple diffrent ones, ontop of that every time something uses the hardisk inside the pc the pc is unusable as it lags so heavily, and it just does not want to open some applications, have tried re formatting many times, still all these issues anyone know any tips or fixes for any of these?

Hello everyone new user here on the LTT forums! I was just wondering if anyone has attempted or even succeeded at upgrading the SSD on the new Razer Blade Stealth? I purchased my blade stealth a couple days ago and I'm immediately regretting the storage capacity I purchased. I've skimmed the internet for how-to videos and I've only come up with upgrade videos on the 2016 blade stealth's, perhaps there the same? I'm not sure. Any information or tutorials from someone who has successfully upgraded their 2018 stealth SSD would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Hello, I can’t chose between Razer blade 15 and Dell XPS 15 (9570). I am architecture student and use Revit, Photoshop, illustrator and 3Dmax daily. So GPU power is important. I would go with Razer blade but the big problem is that in 11 months I will leave USA and go back to Europe so after those 11 months if something happens to razer I am in trouble cause razer don’t have international warranty. The other choice is Dell XPS 15 9570 which have much weaker GPU but if I take premium support I will have international warranty and safety net if something happens after I leave USA. My question probably is which one to chose the one with much greater power but higher risk or safer but weaker option? And maybe some body use razer blade, how often do they break after first year use? P.s. I have heard that if laptop is fine after first few months then it should work good in long term. (No clue if it is true)
