Hello everyone. So I recently got the Sapphire Radeon R9 280 and am waiting to get a few cables I need for it. In the mean time I thought I'd ask the question if my setup will be enough for Star Citizen My build: AMD A-10 6800k @ 4.1GHz Non-OC'd Sapphire Radeon R9 280 OC Edition - No additional overclocking Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-D3H 1x120mm front fan + 1x80mm exhaust fan Comment below what you think I can get out of Star Citizen in graphics settings and resolution. Thanks!

Hi, I was wondering if anybody owns or used to own a Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X Cooler card and what kind of stable over-clocks you managed to achieve. Thanks

I am looking at buying a new GPU to replace my 2 GTS 450s. I am interested in the R9 280. Newegg has a deal on the XFX R9 280 for $150. Should I grab one of these or wait for the R9 380? In this article (http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-300-series-pricing-confirmed-aggressive/) it says that the R9 380 4GB will be $235. In the future I plan to buy a 4K monitor. Should I wait? Thanks!

My friend wants to start pc gaming and wants a budget thats under 550€. (Prices are a lot higher in holland than US). I showed him this: I3 4160 Sapphire r9 280 3G dualx Asus b85me WD blue 1tb Crucial bx 100 120gb Fractal design core 1100 CM g450m 450 watts Crucial 8gb ballistic sport Total: €549 Is this alright? I told him that brodwell won't really make a difference in gaming than haswell and that after Christmas he can get like an i5 4590 or 4690. Should he go with the r9 280 or wait till the r9 370? Thanks in advance, much appreciated Alberto.

Hello, I am looking into building a new system, and was wondering whether the extra performance was worth the extra cost of getting an R9 290 over an R9 280. Getting the 280 would let me put my build under $1000, and save me over 100 USD. Any input is appreciated.

Hey there. I bought a R9 280 X-Edition (not R9 280x) from VTX3D last summer and now two questions have arised. 1. Using HWInfo x64 or MSIAfterburner I can see that the card only goes up to 855Mhz core clock even though it is rated at 960Mhz, changing core clock or power limit in Afterburner does nothing. (Pic of Afterburner screen is attached.) What can I do to get the full power? Using Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and a Corsair CX750M 750W PSU. 2. The card has a dual fan cooler on wich does a good job of keeping the gpu cool but it blows the air into the case instead of out of the back. Can I do something about that? When playing something demanding my case gets kind of warm and my HDDs reach temps of above 40°C. I want to seal the long side with duct tape so that it can only go out the back. Is that a terrible idea?

I have been looking at the R9 280, R9 280x, R9 285, and GTX 960 cards for awhile and all are around $200 and have around the same performance. Which one should I buy? And also which brand should I buy?

Hey guys! My current PC case is the Rosewill FBM-01 and I was looking at the Sapphire Radeon R9 280 to upgrade to. Here's the full info on the card(including pictures): http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-11230-00-20G/dp/B00IZXOW80/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431478964&sr=8-1&keywords=sapphire+r9+280 The length of the card is ~10 inches and the length of the case is just under 14 inches. Do any of you Rosewill FBM-01 owners know if that card will fit in there with any spare space? If you think it will be too cramped in, feel free to suggest any case replacements you think are right.

What one is better? I mean they are only about $20-$40 apart. http://www.microcenter.com/product/438581/Radeon_R9_285_Overclocked_DCII_Cooler_2GB_PCIe_Video_Card http://www.microcenter.com/product/440775/Radeon_R9_280_BOOST_3GB_DDR5_Video_Card What one would you recommend?

Hey guys! I was looking into the R9 280, which seems like it's a pretty good price for what it is. I currently have an A10-6800K and I'm a little worried that it will bottleneck the R9 280, since it's more of an entry level APU. So IS the A10-6800K going to bottleneck the R9 280? If so, what processor in the AMD line would be a good replacement?

I've Looked all over the internet and I have not been able to find an answer. Is there a Water block that will work on a Gigabyte windforce r9 280 (non x)? (doesn't have to be full coverage or anything like that) (i'm not talking about the all in one coolers either) Some people say a 7950 water block will work but i'm not sure because gigabyte uses custom PCBs

Hey guys, I'm planning this build soon, and I'm also planning on overclocking the CPU and maybe the GPU. I'm concerned about whether the PSU will have enough power to manage the overclocked build. I originally had a 500W PSU and was told to upgrade to 600W. I was then told to upgrade to a 650W. I don't know what to believe any more. What do you guys think? I'm planning on overclocking the CPU as much as my cooler will allow, and I may overclock the GPU aswell if the stock temps are low enough. Do I have enough power? Hi all, I have an R9 280 (Non X Version) in my rig right now, and I may be able to get three GTX 680s for $100 USD. Should I buy these? They're all Gigabyte 4 gb models.

Here's my setup - Asus Motherboard, F2A85-M LE AMD A10-5800K (APU - Radeon 7660D) 8 GB Corsair Vengeance (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10) Amacrox Freestyle - 750W PSU (aka FSP) 1TB HDD Cooler Master K380 Windows 8.1 Here's the story.. I initially wanted to get the MSI R7 260X but then a bunch of people online suggested I buy the Gigabyte WindForce edition R9 280 instead, that's just perfect for my budget and bang for the buck. But the thing is, I'm not in the US and my @%#&!ing country's recent change in rules, is somehow denying all payments (regardless of the bank and type of card) to international websites for electronics. If you didn't already guess the PMSing country, it's India. So anyway, I'm willing to spend around Rs. 12,000 - 15,000 (that's around $200..) for my first GPU. And after I saw the GigabyteWF R9 280's specs, I gotta say.. 3GBs GDDR5, 384bit, with those clock speeds at this price?! Freaking Awesome. Now I'm hellbent on getting that GPU, or, since it's not in my country; and my country won't let me - an alternative. I've tried buying from Newegg and Amazon.COM (not amazon.IN - they didn't have it) both sent me an email a while after saying my order was placed, that my payment has been declined. And I get in-touch with the bank and they told me what I've told you. Freaking new rules. But I then checked up Gigabyte's website online and I called up the dealer in my city. The guy said he's stacked up on Nvidia cards (but nvidia for my rig wouldn't be the most optimal fit, would it?) and they've only just began importing cards from the US o' A, so he told me they'd take around about, and I quote, "a quarter of a year to a year, max" . . . . . .. yeeeaaahhahahhahahhahaa  No. <_< I'm not gonna wait a year. Or maybe I'll just have to *sigh* .. I've never bought a GPU before nor am I sure how to judge them, but going by hardware specs, on paper, the Gigabyte R9 280 kicks some serious butt at the pricing. Anyway! I digress... Basically, I want an alternative to the Gigabyte R9 280. And I've scoured the internet, none even come close to this GPU at this price point. I want a card of the similar, high tier chipset, 3GBs of GDDR5, and a 384 bit memory interface. I currently have a single monitor at 1920x1080, but it's just a matter of principle for me- so to say..you know?... I want that extra bandwidth, even though the internet says 256bits for 1080p displays should be fine. I want that extra 1GB for a total of 3GBs.. I've seen Watch_Dogs somewhere mention 3GBs of memory for enabling high textures.. How's the MSI R9 280? XFX Radeon R9 280X? And so I ask, fellow tech lovers, which GPU would be ideal for me at the $200 price!? Shall I wait or something? Is there a better card I've missed?(it seems impossible that I did) I'm gonna be using it for gaming of-course, but I also have a Wacom tablet, so I do some graphic stuff with Photoshop, also some 3D modelling, Cinema4D stuff, etc. Future-proofing, who knows? But I'd like this card to last me a while, say 2, 3 years down the line, I'd even be willing to settle at 1280x720p gaming... Does anyone have any idea? I'd really appreciate it. And gosh I hope the cards you guys suggest are available here @_@

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide between two graphics cards, A Radeon R9 285 from Powercolor that costs £139.99 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-175-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1983 and a Radeon R9 280 from MSI that costs £149.99 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-251-MS I'll be using them on one 1080p monitor for playing games like Company of Heroes 2, Cities: Skylines, Gran Theft Auto 5 and Garry's Mod. From what I've been reading up, the 280 has more VRAM so better for large textures like in Skyrim and probably GTA5 when it finally comes out (and potentially more future proof maybe?) but the 285 performs a little bit better in frame rates and is based on newer GCN technology. To be honest I'm not to bothered about things like Freesync or TrueAudio just yet, I will when the 300 series comes out and I buy my ultra high end graphics card, this is something I'm investing in for a couple of months until the 300 series is released and the prices normalize a bit (as they're always crazy when they just come out!). So looking for your ideas guys on which is better purely for playing games, thanks!

For reference, here's my specs OS: Windows 7 x64 MOBO: Gigabyte GA970a-ud3p CPU: FX-6300 GPU: Gigabyte Windforce R9 280 3GB RAM: Kingston HyperX Savage(8gb) PSU: Antec Edge 650w Monitor: ASUS VX239H So today I received my new PC (I had a company build for me and ship to me). I tried to boot, and got very scared when nothing happened. I unplugged the HDMI cable I was using, and used a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter to use the display port on the graphics card. This worked and the PC booted, I put it down to a missing HDMI driver. So now, with windows installed, I go to update all my drivers. When they were installed, I rebooted, and then the problems started. The screen got past the "Windows Starting" but then had horizontal lines all over the desktop. Windows then seems to crash, everything goes black, and the only way to get out is to power the PC off. I booted into safe mode, removed all drivers using DDU, and tried again, to no avail. I'm starting to think I may have a faulty card. Please, any help would be much appreciated

Do you think that an core I3 4130 would bottle neck an R9 280 or not in most modern games, or should I try to get a better CPU and a cheaper GPU, like an I5 and a 750ti?
-
These questions are possibly so commoon that everyone is sick to the teeth of it. I know the radeon is cheaper and thats exactly why Im asking this. I live in Ireland so getting these isnt a local job, willl be more than likely be getting it off of Amazon.co.uk. I play Dota(as you could guess) and Im not going for all out performace. I just need something that gets me decent framerates (above 10-15fps) and will last me a relatively long time (5-6 years) Would love the feedback

I ask because a person with an R9 280 told me that they would not recommend the i3-4130 (or any dual core) to be paired with the R9 280 because the CPU will bottleneck the GPU. The user suggested the AMD FX-6300 hex-core instead, but I have been told multiple times that the i3 would be better for gaming thanks to it's stronger cores. Has anyone with an R9 280 experienced similar bottlenecking? Am I better off switching to the AMD processor or will the i3 do fine? OR, should I save for some sort of i5 Quad core instead?

I was looking on newegg, and I was wondering if this bundle was good for gaming. I want to play games like borderlands, far cry 4, and I'm a casual gamer. And also if its possible to add a 150 watt after market cpu cooler with the 650 watt power supply. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2145098

i want to upgrade my pc and my choices are both sapphire dual x but one is the r9 285 and the other is the 280 (i dont live in us or canda so the 960 is way mor pricy from them two). my most demanding game is bf4 and i want it too live as long as possible. the problem is the future proof the 285 has lots more fetures but the 280 has more ram so i cant choose. please help

Hello guys, its been a while since I posted here in LTT I've read up an updated TomsHardware Bang for the Money GPU and the updated TechReport system build guide and I've found that getting a GTX 960 over a R9 280 is something that is to be considered. First off, I would probably play AA - AAA titles but mostly, I'd spend my time coding and playing GTA V/DotA 2/upcoming NBA 2K titles or if there's something new that would replace 2k (lol). I would also consider temps and electricity costs, this 2 factors are really crucial here in PH. Electricity costs way too much here as we don't produce electricity thru nuclear blah blah blah. For the temps, welp, welcome to the Pacific ring of fire )

So me and my friend are doing budget build for another friend. I am an Nvidia fanboy... So hear me out, despite all my love for Nvidia I agree the price to performance Amd is the way to go! But I am a noob at amd cards so which one is better of the two for gaming?! r9 280 vs r2 270x

So I'm pairing a r9 280 with the 4440 and I'm going to be using a 900p monitor and I know it will run some games 60fps 1080p will I be able to max out pretty much anything at 60fps 900p with the r9 280? EDIT:also what will the price tag for the 380x be? north of $200?
