Hey, guys I need your opinions I am currently in need of a laptop that keeps me away from power outlets as my current gaming laptop only last for an hour or even less. So, I’ve been eyeing on getting a macbook for a while as OSX is very compeling for me. I saw an ad wherein, A Mid 2009 15-inch Macbook Pro is for sale for $224 Is it worth it to get it? I’ve read That Mid 2009 MBP’s have batteries lasting up to 7Hrs I’ll attach some specs and photos of the unit?

Well I did it. I did it! Well... almost. Currently coming in the mail is a smorgasbord of sexy silicone. I have everything I need except a gpu. Wish me luck because everyone knows what that means. My poor wallet is about to blow out a nut. Its like my wallet was running through the woods and gets plowed in the poop shoot by the biggest boi from the prison down the road. Youre like, but Sellin Hugs, how is he in the woods if he was in prison? Well i tell ya! My poor wallet is about to get his back door bunker busted by a big boi booty basher. Oh well... PCMR isn't free and I strive for the finer things in life lul. So time to dish out some more clams so i can get all the juicy krabby patties... I mean frames. So I set off on my quest like a harware buying version of Ash Ketchup and i gotta catch em' all. About to drive my budget Cadillac right on down 1080ti town. Wish me luck. My poor wallet... I hate myself for this but the games bro. THE GAMES. I can no longer play this stupid fucking xbox! Halp. All the wootercooling goodness thats about to go on makes me hot. Ugghhh send noods...... ***!!THIS JUST IN!!*** Man goes to prison for sexually assaulting a computer in a gamestop. The suspect was later questioned and all he had to say was "the tempered glass let all the sexy out and I just went primate." Allegedly there was a fleshlight in one of the drive bays. Back to you Tom. RIP - my wallet.

How come Surface book 2 with i7-8th gen with nVidia GTX 1060 is inferior with Acer Helios 300 when gaming AND how cam Acer Helios 300 becomes inferior with Surface book 2 when it comes to productivity when it has the advantage in gaming wherein in gaming requires huge raw power of CPU and GPU? PLEASE enlighten me. Linus ignores my comment . Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00aQl_XuQqw

Your CPU of Choice for Gaming/Streaming/Productivity I would personally get Ryzen 7 2700x
-
I'm trying to get a gaming/streaming/productivity PC Here are the specs I want. Ryzen 7 1700x MSI Gaming SLI Plus x370 Mobo Corsair Vengence 3200mhz LED 16GB (2x8GB) EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SSC ACX 3.0 I'll mostly be using this PC for gaming/streaming/productivity and mentioned before. I know that Intel's CPU has better gaming experience but not in viewer's experience. I will be playing three games which is Fortnite/CSGO/PUBG Most of the ingame graphics settings will be competitive which means I'll be going for most performance. I wont be overclocking my CPU since I don't really want to void my warranty and I don't really care about the OC performance. So which one should I get still? a i7 or Ryzen 7. I will be using 144hz monitor btw.

I need a laptop below $1000, that support thunderbolt 3 as I need to connect an external GPU for productivity. I'm looking for the cheapest of all laptops. Maybe a little gaming too, if possible. I'm grateful for any help you can provide.

I'm looking for laptop suggestions to help kick start my search. So I'm going on exchange soon, and I plan to travel around before, during and after. However, I still need a relatively powerful laptop for use with Maya, Premiere, Illustrator, After Effects, etc. Not super heavy use with any of those apps; won't be doing any 4k work or physics sims, so an i5 should be fine. I also want to be able to game on it, so like a 1060 or higher. 8 gigs of ram is crap for me, so 16 gigs. I don't care about touch screens. 1080p is fine. I'm hoping to spend around 1500-2000 dollars. EDIT: AUSTRALIAN dollars. I had a look a the LG gram but idk about gaming on that, but if it's good then let me know. PS I'm in Australia rip

Hey guys! I need some advice with laptops. I'm leaving for college this summer and i need laptop that can handle gaming. (battlefield, overwatch) And graphic design work in blender, zbrush, substance, photoshop and so on. The productivity side is more important, cuz i want to learn and progress not game and fail school. Here are some laptops i found. I'm happy with the specs, its mostly about brand, thermals and those things. Here they are: NOTEBOOKS Site from my country with all of them in one place. Acer Predator Helios 300 Obsidian Black Aluminium ASUS ROG STRIX GL502VM-FY165T Myst Black Aluminium ASUS ROG STRIX GL503VM-FY014T Black Metal ASUS ROG STRIX SCAR Edition GL503VM-ED032T Black Metal I have tried to look them up on US sites but i failed so im sorry they are in foreign language but you can understand specs whatever the language. Helios 300 is in the middle with price, same specs but its larger so maybe temps are better? But its also more bulky. And LTT has a video saying its the best "cheapo" gaming laptop. GL502VM is cheapest, slim but im not sure with temps. GL503VM Is most expensive. But imo it looks best and they say it has the best screen and i need good colours for my work. GL503VM SCAR Its cheaper, 120Hz, but im not sure with the colors, but only 128Gb SSD with 5400rpm HDD. I like this the least. So, i want to hear your thougts on this, which one would you choose if you need ntb for 3-5 years, good colors, rendering power and gaming in free time? If you have other suggestions for ntb list them bellow. Thank you in advance!

Looking for a 32" 4k monitor for productivity - 1080p scaling?
Pyr0monk3y posted a topic in Displays
I'm looking for advise on a 4k monitor, here's the skinny: Budget: $800 Size: 32 inches Usage : I write code, layout PCB's, and read datasheets for 8 hours a day. Currently I'm using three 23" 1080p monitors, but I would like to replace my center, primary monitor with something larger so I can see more of a schematic or model at one time. I play games once in a while (maybe 3 or 4 nights a month, very occasional). My GPU is a GTX770, I'm pretty sure this will struggle at 4k. Can I downscale to 1080p and still get decent image quality on most monitors? I've read that some monitors are better than others at this. Current Considerations: BenQ PD3200U (IPS) Samsung U32H850UMN (VA) LG 32UD59-B (VA) LG 32UD89-W (IPS) Does anyone have any of these monitors and can speak to their 1080p usability? Am I leaving any monitors off my list? Thanks in advance!- 1 reply

Ever since I first started getting in to PCs and started figuring out what I wanted as part of my dream setup, I've wanted an ultra wide display. Especially after beginning to use two el cheapo monitors and finding that more screen space is just a necessity whenever you want to get things done. I use the extra space for everything: school papers, music production, CAD, light gaming, and the occasional coding. I'm ready to make the jump now, and I know that I want an ultra-wide that is going to suit my general all-purpose needs for a few years. I've looked, but there are SO many different model names and different versions with the exact same specs and I know there are differences I'm just not seeing. Which do I choose? The following are my musts: 34" - I've seen 29, I would much prefer the 34 freesync - I don't have an NVIDIA gpu and I hate screen tearing in games. 2560*1080 - No sense in spending on the extra resolution, I have an rx 470 and 2560*1080 is basically its limit. Maybe 75+ refresh rate. I've used 144hz at my friend's house and I've overclocked my old monitor to 80hz, I see very little difference As close to 300-350 dollars as possible. Please help, this will be a mighty fine addition to my setup but a mighty fine penny out of my pocket as well.

I'm looking for a laptop as I'm about to leave for university. I have a budget of around $1500-1800 max and need something for general course/everyday use and potentially some light gaming. I don't care much for features like touch screen etc. but I'd like something with a decent build quality and keyboard. Any help is appreciated.

Hello everyone. Over the last few weeks, my 9 year old desktop PC is starting to go downhill, with random reboots and shutdowns being almost a weekly tradition. And as such, I must prepare my wallet for the inevetable expense of having to buy a new PC in possibly the worst time (price wise). My current budget if the current PC dies today (knock on wood) is ~900€, but if it lasts until the summer it should go up ~1200€. Also note that I live in Greece, so prices are in Euros (€) and we don't have Amazon, Newegg etc here. There are 2 search engines (www.skroutz.gr / www.bestprice.gr) to see the prices of the components in local stores. And yes, prices are much higher than the global average. Small country with very small stock on a few stores, import taxes and a 24% VAT dont help. But we gotta work with what we are given. Current PC: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Motherboard: Gigabyte EP43-DS3 RAM: 4x 2GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 @ 800MHz GPU: XFX AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB PSU: Thermaltake TR2 700W Storage: Patriot 120GB SSD / Seagate 750GB HDD Cooling: 2x 120mm Xilence Blue LED Case: Vero VeroStation 2 The PC was bought as a prebuilt (I was 15 then) with a different GPU (MSI GeForce GTX260) that died 4 years later. I bought the 6850 used for 70€. It started its life purely as gaming machine until I started studying Computer Engineering in late 2013. Since then it is used daily for everything school and work related. I game very rarely (1-2 times a month) and play old games like CSS, TF2, NFS U2, NFS MW, GTA SA, TMNF. My daily workflow is mainly programming, hardware engineering and 3d modeling. For the programming jobs, programs like Visual Studio, Sublime Text, 1-2 linux VMs, SSH and FTP connections are the daily bread and butter. As for the hardware engineering and 3d modeling. I mainly use Autodesk EAGLE, NI MultiSim, Dassault SolidWorks. And a few times per month some MATLAB. Also to mention I'm a Chrome tab addict. I rarely have <15 tabs open at the same time. On my current workloads, the CPU barely copes and ram usage is atleast 6-7gb all the time. Plus upgrading such an old system is a waste, since nothing newer is compatible. As you can see, my workloads are mosty CPU dependent. Plus due to limited time and being 8+h/day in front of a PC, gaming is lets say not a priority. And so we come to the 2 build I have in mind around my budget. Build 1: Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (Window) Black [95€] (I want the R6 but its not available in Greece yet) (Treat it as a place holder) PSU: Corsair RMx Series 650X [120€] CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 [280€] Motherboard: Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 [105€] RAM: 2x8GB G.Skill RipjawsV DDR4-3200MHz kit [185€] GPU: ***I used to have an RX560 4GB but nothing is available*** Storage: Samsung 960 Evo 250GB [125€] Total: 910€ plus a GPU that I can afford... Build 2: Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (Window) Black [95€] PSU: Corsair RMx Series 650X [120€] CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K [365€] CPU Cooler: Coolermaster MasterAir MA410P [45€] Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD3 [120€] RAM: 2x8GB G.Skill RipjawsV DDR4-3200MHz kit [185€] GPU: ***I used to have an RX560 4GB but nothing is available*** ***I think I can get away with only using the iGPU here*** Storage: Samsung 960 Evo 250GB [125€] Total: 1055€ without a GPU... My main problem is that almost none does productivity benchmarks and I cant decide is the amd or the intel is better for my workloads. I understang that that's what most people do with thei PCs but I want is mostly for getting work done. Also it has to be VERY SILENT. My heart want the ryzen (or the ryzen+ in a few months) cause I'd like to support AMD not that they are on top of their game, but having to get a GPU not seems impossible. The 8700k is 80€ more expensive and 2 cores less, but has a 1GHz+ clock advantage. Plus most software is better optimized for the intel architecture. And it has a iGPU. But its hotter and requires an extra cooler. And i dont want a AIO due to noise. If you have any suggestions, I'd love the hear them and see what you think. And sorry for any errors, english aint my native language. Thank you!

I'm a new PC Builder and I need some suggestions on my PC Specs. I've been hunting for either i7 or Ryzen. I'm confused on which should I buy? Its either R7 1700/1700x, i7 8700(Non-K) or 7700k. The graphics card I will use will be either 1060 or rx 580. I'm mostly going to use it for rendering( SketchUp, V-Ray, Lumion, AutoCad, CInema 4d, etc.) I am also considering the budget for my motherboard since the coffee lake is only available with the flagship z370. Which should I buy? Which is the most future proof? Is the 8700 worth the motherboard price? or should I just go with Ryzen?

I am looking for a monitor to connect my ultrabook to. Things I am looking for: - definitely ips since I don't need it to be fast - vesa mount is a must - reasonable out of the box color accuracy - atleast 24 inch Whether it's QHD or FHD I don't really mind, but text shouldn't be blurry from a normal viewing distance. Amazon.com is ideal

Hello I am currently building a ryzen themed system mainly for productivity, such as video and photo editing. My question is whether I should add one 570 4 GB graphics card or two 560 4GB cards that are linked in crossfire? Could you possible also add a reason for your answers. Regards Uneducated PC Builder

I'm after some advice here with regards to getting a new gaming monitor. I've got two 1080p 23" monitors at present and for productivity, they have been fine but one is slowly dying and I would prefer to game on a single larger monitor and have a second one to the side. I initially thought of getting a 27" 4k monitor and when it came to game time just gaming at 1080p on the 4k monitor but after some searching, I believe that is a bad idea. The next thought was to just go bigger and get a 27" 1080p monitor, I found a cheap one with better specs than my current ones but again after some searching people were suggesting 1080p isn't a good resolution for a screen that size. I've looked at some 1440p monitors, I could game at that resolution (my GPU is a gtx1070ti) and it would give me some more real estate for productivity but the issue I then have is do I just go for a 1440p or go for an ultrawide? - I believe ultrawide isn't supported in some games yet and I don't want to be forced to have black bars at either side of the monitor. So all in all, I was pretty sure the 27" 1080p monitor would be fine until the internet put doubt in my mind. Does anyone want to add some thoughts/suggestions?

I’m looking to build a desktop for moderate gaming (1080p 60hz, medium settings) and medium productivity (Word, Excel, OSM editing, some light 3D modeling for fun). https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Trevosaurus/saved/bCqWXL I already have an old, large, well maintained ATX case with an older version of the listed PSU and plenty of case fans. It’s basically a larger Corsair 270R that has 8(?) expansion bays down the front of it, so it can handle a good deal of parts. My desired cost is $750 US. Thanks

Hi guys, I'm looking for a powerful laptop under 900€. I'm going to use it for Photoshop, InDesign and gaming. I would prefer dedicated graphics (gtx 1050 if possible), SSD, 15+ inch display and a decent battery life. If possible, I would prefer a normal looking notebook, instead of those flashy, heavy, gaming laptops. I found HP Pavilion Power 15-cb005cn, but I don't trust HP. Are there any other good laptops? Thanks for your answers. Sorry for my english

Hello, everyone! I'm searching for the cheapest graphics card that can handle a 4K 60Hz monitor. My usual tasks for this rig will be web, coding, CPU-computing and a bit of watching youtube, so 4K (or any other) gaming is a non-factor. By now, I stopped at NVIDIA GTX 900 series low-end part, but I'm not sure if it will be able to handle 4K or if it is an optimal choice regarding performance/$ in these particular circumstances. Also, I'd rather prefer an AMD card because I'm running Linux and AMD has a WAY better support, but I don't know a lot about AMD graphics to make a good choice The other components, just in case: - AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - 16 GB dual-channel DDR4 - MSI X370 Gaming Plus Thanks!

Hello guys (and ladies), My current mouse is reaching the end of it's life, it has served me well for the last three years. This is where I need your help! What mouse should I get? Not interested in RGB. Looking for something ergonomic that is good for productivity, gaming performance is not really important as I rarely game. Would like something no more than £30 although I could go £40.

Hello all! I'm going back to school to pursue a degree in Information Technology and Web Design this spring. My current rig isn't quite up to par and can't run Adobe Creative Suite; I've tried and it's so painfully slow and crashes all the time. My current daily driver is: Early 2011 MBP 13 inch 2.3 GHz Core i5 2415M CPU Upgraded 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz Ram Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB I'm looking to stick with a laptop and I'd love to stay under $2000 American, but another hundred or so won't be a deal breaker. I'm open to all makes and all models! Thank all y'all in advance!

I need a new laptop as my old one is getting unusable day by day. I have been considering the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 - http://www.dell.com/in/p/xps-13-9360-laptop/pd?oc=a540033sin8&model_id=xps-13-9360-laptop (i couldn't find the link to the 2-in-1 model of the Dell XPS 13 I know it exists though) and Asus Zenbook Flip S - https://www.asus.com/in/2-in-1-PCs/ASUS-ZenBook-Flip-S-UX370UA/Features/ If there is something else you would like to recommend please let me know. I want to have a high res display with a touchscreen, 13" display the laptop should be thin and light. I will not be gaming on it except for an occasional game of LoL or Starcraft or similar titles. Also if you guys recommend the Dell XPS let me know a pen/stylus that will work well with it. Edit: dell xps 13 2-in-1 - http://www.dell.com/in/business/p/xps-13-9365-2-in-1-laptop/pd

Hello everyone. I’m looking for advice to purchase a budget laptop for my parents this holiday season. Specific model number would be most helpful. My budget is no more than $400 dollars, and it will primarily be used for Office, browsing news and stock tips online, and for viewing pictures sent from their adult kids. No gaming besides card games, so no need for a dedicated GPU. Just looking for the best bang for the buck that will last multiple years. The trackpad doesn’t have to be spectacular, as I assume they’ll be using a mouse. This laptop will live in their home, and seldom be more than 10 feet from a charger. Should I be looking at AMD now? Or does Intel still reign supreme even at the lowest end? Lastly, if anyone has advice between leaving the bloatware on (for the most part) or installing a completely clean version of Windows, I’d appreciate the input. Thanks in advance!
