Which powersupplies are considerd long term safe. My friend is cheap af and wants to build a fat gaming rig. He's thinking about getting a 3070, 5600x. To feed that he is planning to get the Cooler Master MWE White 700W V2. It's a pretty cheap powersupply for its wattage so then id like to ask, would it be safe for maybe 8000 hours of use with those specs? Would it be worth it for him to get a better one from maybe corsair or another company or is it just wasting money? Sorry for the bad English, I'm a swedish 15 year old plz help.

Hi guys, Got a weird situation, I changed my pc from hdd to ssd, partitioned, everything worked just needed to go into bios to change the start up drive, tried this and the PC wouldn't boot (pre mb speaker) yet all the fans and lights were on. Had a few troubleshoots and nailed it down to issues with the motherboard, cpu or psu. Hence sent this to an IT specialist for testing but due to covid they had to isolate and gave me my PC back I then tried the PC again after plugging in an mb speaker and it all worked perfectly POST beeb etc, however I had left the pci network card out, so I unplugged everything and reinstalled it. Now the PC has the same issues as before, no POST beeb, no display and the funny thing I noticed is the case fans and cpu fans are spinning, when the PC was on before the case fans were not on. Any ideas? Has the network card shorted the mb? I'm literally so confused at it was working perfectly prior to the network card installation. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Hello! I'm looking to pick up a new 750 watt power supply, i wanted 750 watt to future proof myself for upgrading. Though i don't know what one to pick. Both are about the same prices in canada, both 750 watts. Thermaltake seems to have better ripple protection and voltage fluctuations, and maybe a little bit nicer of cables. But corsair seems to be very quiet and maybe has some cleaner power? What one should i go for? I feel like Thermaltake gives me more features for my money and more steady power then corsair. Thanks :)

Hello there. I don't know much about powersupplies but while choosing the right one for my future build I found something that I can't seem to understand. So in the listed connectors for most powersupplies they have a 8-pin +12V Power connector (for the CPU). All clear for now. Some units however have instead of this connector a 4+4 pin EPS one or a 4+4 Pin ATX/EPS. So could someone tell me if a EPS 4+4 is going to work with a normal AM4 motherboard or do I have to find a non-EPS one. My motherboard is an Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 and the power supply I plan on using is the Deepcool DQ750ST (the EPS connector one I mentioned above). Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone! So I am very excited to be building my first PC. The only thing left on my list is a PSU. I just wanted to know if it is ok to go with a 650W unit for my system or if I would have to go for a 750W one. My system specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600x GPU: Gigabyte 2070 SUPER Windforce OC MOBO: Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3200MHz (2x8) STORAGE: 1 x M.2 Samsung Evo Plus 500GB, 1 x Hard drive WesternDigital 1TB The power supply I plan on getting is a Bitfenix Whisper M 650W GOLD. Do you think it is enough? If not I better get back to researching

I am going to be replacing my mobo, psu and gpu. Right now I have- i7-9700k GTX 1060 3GB A cyberpower motherboard made by ASRock (not a good mobo) 2x8GB RAM 600 Watt non certifiied (psu) Be Quiet! Dark Rock TF What I will be changing- Swapping out 1060 to RTX 3070. Swapping out motherboard to a MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon AC. (If you know a better mobo for around the same price point or cheaper let me know) Swapping out PSU to a Corsair RM 750Watt 80+ Gold. (If you know a better PSU for around the sanme price point or cheaper let me know) I want a PSU that was 80+ Gold certified or higher and I want it to be at least 700 Watt for some headroom for future upgrades and overclocking. Open to suggestions I want a good motherboard that has a easy to use bios and good for overclocking. Again if you know another mobo that you would recommend please let me know. I have around £750 to spend. Keep in mind that the RTX 3070 is at least £470 which leaves £280. Thanks

Hi. It has passed 4 months I brought *Antec VP550 Plus 550W* But some of peoples saying this is the worst psu? I know its not 80% rated, And didn't saw anyone saying any problems of this model. So MY QUESTION is Does *Antec VP550 Plus 550W* Good? or worst ever? Should I need to worry? Thank you!

Hello all Is it correctly understood that if my system draws around 650w and I have a 1200w PSU, the PSU fan might not even start spinning or if it does, it's very low in RPM which means low to no noise under load? Awkwardly enough, I just found out my blowerstyle GPU isn't only what causes my PC to be so loud under load, it's also my old Corsair HX750w from 2013. Soon I will get my RTX 3000 series ROG STRIX and I'm aiming for undervolting to have a very low noise level while gaming (I like to use speakers, so no headset) but I also want my PSU to be quiet. I don't care about efficiency - if it has to draw 300w instead of 250w, that's fine, but If I got myself the HX1200i PSU for my system that would draw around 650w under load when getting the new GPU, would that mean almost silent to maybe fully silent? Thanks

Hi Guys, I am heavily considering upgrading to an Asus TUF 3080 after all the teething issues with crashes and stock shortages etc subside etc. but I am wondering if my current systems PSU will be up to spec to handle a card that draws so many Watts. I currently have a Corsair CX750 Power Supply in my PC, which has been more than enough for my i7-9700k and RTX 2060 Super, however hearing about all the issues with Power Supplies etc people are having, I am a little worried that getting an RTX 3080 and using that with my current PSU might be a bad idea if it ends up running the power supply at its maximum rated power delivery a lot of the time, and might causes crashes etc. Would you guys be able to let me know if you think it would be alright using that Power Supply, or do you think I should upgrade to a better rated 850w PSU instead, as recommended by NVIDIA? And also as a side question, would an i7-9700k bottleneck a 3080? Link to my PSU: https://www.cnet.com/products/corsair-cx750-power-supply-750-watt/

I noticed in Linus' small form factor build video from yesterday that he purposefully routed the AC power cable away from the GPU riser cable. I'm assuming that that would have something to do with electrical noise/interference messing with the data going through the riser. My build is set up such that atm my riser cable is actually touching the PSU. Does this do anything to harm my system? Furthermore, when I upgrade to a 3080 with 3x 8 pin power cables, the only logical (and visually pleasing) way to run those cables will be alongside the riser. Will that cause an issue? Thanks.

my spec pc : ryzen 5 3600 1.1v undervolt 4.1ghz 8x2 vengeance pro rgb psu 500W aerocool +80 bronze gtx 1080 gigabyte 3 fan 4tb hdd seagate 1tb wd blue 500gb intel 660p nvme Actually this happen when me upgrade 4tb hdd seagate, before this there is no problem when i gaming on warzone, destiny2. I notice than when i play dota2, csgo, valorant there is no issues about it, im also streaming before this and nothing happen. Can i know is 4TB upgrading there is effect on my PSU not enough ? I see the power consumption is no problem at all or my extension plug having problem?

So I recently noticed that the loudest component in my PC was the PSU and not the CPU or Case fans and based on the tier list it was a C rating so I decided to upgrade so I can have a much more silent PC as the humming gets a little annoying. I picked up the MSI MPG A650GF for $59.25 from Microcenter with my $25 off coupon and I can't find much info on sound which is the second most important to me apart from quality. I picked up a Corsair (2018) RM550x for $63 on the Prime Day thing a week or two ago for a buddy and I'm not sure if to wait for a little and pick it up for myself and return the MSI or keep the MSI. My current PSU is the Corsair CX Series 550 Watt 80 Plus Bronze so I only need 550 Watts but the 650 Watts also works

Hello everyone! So I've put together a list of parts that fit my budget, I'm not sure about the power supply and my budgeting priorities - is this an O.K build? I'm really not sure, but what I'm looking for is putting together my first ever gaming PC. PC will be used for gaming, and light browser-based work since I work remotely Using one 1080p ultrawide monitor. Here's my list - prices are in USD converted from my local currency Romanian Leu. ASRock B550M Pro4 $110 Cheapest positively reviewed MOBO that I picked because of a GamersNexus review. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X $227 I was going to pick a R7 5700X - but since it doesn't come with a cooler, I'd need to spend another $100 on that - so I figured I wouldn't need the extra 2 cores that it comes with. PNY GeForce® RTX™ 3060 XLR8 Gaming REVEL EPIC-X $463 I read on here and other parts of reddit that PNY is a good brand, not bad, this is the cheapest 3060 I could find honestly! NZXT H510 Flow $112 I think I could get the H510 regular, but think this would be better for airflow. NZXT C Series C650 $101 The power supply I'm really doubtful of Kingston FURY Beast 16GB DDR4 3200MHz $70 Best budget option I could find that fits the CPU and MOBO SSD Samsung 980 PRO 500GB PCI Express 4.0 $103 Is this overkill? Any opinions are welcome, but my main concern here power supply and budget allocation, if anyone can chip in, would be amazing! Thank you!

I left my PC beside an open window when it rained (was rushing out of the house to help with an emergency). When I got back the side of my PC was really wet but after inspecting the internals, the side panel looked to take most of the water and the inside of the PC was dry. I immediately cut power to the power bar and dried the drenched table and everything connected. I didn't believe any water should have gotten into my system so after unplugging the system and throwing lots of silica packs into the system and blowdrying the PSU for a few minutes I powered it on for abit to see if there was anything off (this was because I thought everything was dry). After a minute or two, I began hearing a low humming sound I've never heard from my system before. I've since, shut down the system, took out the PSU unit and threw it in a bag with some silica packs. I am wondering how to figure out if my PSU has been water damaged. How long should I keep my PSU in the silica drying bag for, and what symptoms would appear if it was water damaged?

Suddenly that one particular 2.0 USB port on my H510M motherboard decided to decline my mic ? i tried switching to a different USB port the other 2.0 one beside it and it's working fine. I thought something was wrong with my other 2.0 port until i connected my keyboard , it worked fine , tried mouse pad , it worked fine, tried my mouse and it worked fine. the USB port recognizes them and it's all good. Why is my mic the only thing that suddenly stopped working on it today ? Also i wanted to add that whenever i open the sound settings and the recording tab when its connected to the malfunctioning 2.0 port the recording tab freezes the whole sound system app. it goes not responding it only closes after a minute or if i unplug my headphones USB. the sound is perfectly fine from that port but the mic isn't working suddenly.

So, I bought a new PC and it's behaviour is weird. The first time I turned it on, it needed 2 tries to actually start. But I didn't think nothing of it. And all the next times I turned it on, the lights started glowing for half a second then it turned off and turned on again, repeatedly for like ten minutes until it finally turned on. Now I thought that it doesn't receive enough Power to actually start, but it was a prebuild and I bought it 2 days ago so either it was already broken? Or idk. I looked at the components, everything looks fine but it just needs so long to start. Does anyone know a fix, which doesn't require me to really work at the components or that I don't have to replace anything. Or should I just send the pc back and ask for a refund or for a replacement?

Budget (including currency): roughly php26000 (400usd) Country: Philippines Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Just minor games, Literally anything better than a 6th gen laptop Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi guys I made this account because reddit is somehow the most infuriating place to look for parts. So I came here! So I am about to buy a new pc and finding a PSU is much more difficult than I thought. Here's the stuff I bought so far: Ryzen 5 5600g T-Force 3600mhz CL18 16gb (8x2) ram. Msi Pro B550M-VC WiFi. A random Dell monitor (it only had dp, hence the motherboard choice) Stuff I haven't bought: Kingspec 512gb nvme ssd (I had to cheap out on SSD because yeah PSU) A case. A mouse and keyboard. So I wanna put out some stuff before you leave a reply. Yes I have stared at the Tier list from both here and cultists. But unfortunately the 'good' ones just don't exist in any of the local online stores. And yeah I am on a strict budget, I wanted to spend more on my PSU, I'd love to but unfortunately I don't have a regular job and all the money is funded by my furry art commisons. (Yeah I'm a artist.) Originally I wanted a Segotep PSU but now I wanna look for other options. I plan to probably upgrade it in the future when stuff gets cheaper or I get richer.
