Part list: PSU: Unsure, friend took it out of a workstation (He claims it's over 700 watts) Processor: i5-6500 3.2GHz Motherboard: Asus H110M-C D3 (Chipset: LGA 1151) Ram: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 SSD: G.Skill - Phoenix Pro Series 120GB 2.5" GPU: Sapphire - Radeon HD 5970 2GB Video Card --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Computer was working fine for about 2 months. I opened it up to inspect my GPU, but when I put it back in, the PC wouldn't turn on when I press the power button on the case. No lights, no fan, nothing. I've tried pretty much everything. -Switching the reset button cables with the power cables. -Resetting CMOS and battery -Reinserting practically every cable -Removing and swapping ram -Removing GPU On the back of my PSU, there is a reset button. So long as I'm pressing it down, the RGB lights light up, and fans start spinning. Once I let go of the reset button, everything shuts off. Nothing shows up on the monitor even if I press it down long enough. Just because the fans start spinning, can my MOBO be dead? Or is it the case power button?

Possible stupid question here, but I am trying to connect my ASUS Maximus X Formula MB to my Cooler Master H500M case's power button. I can't find how to do this in my MB manual http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/ROG_MAXIMUS_X_FORMULA/E13427_ROG_MAXIMUS_X_FORMULA_UM_WEB.pdf?_ga=2.146811831.1486131050.1533935187-553127753.1531639343 or my case's manual http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/mastercase-h500m/ Can someone give me a page number in either of them to reference?

I am trying to connect my case's front panel power button and other front panel I/O to my motherboard. See this page for a picture of what I/O exists on my case: http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/mastercase-h500m/ See page 22 of the manual for all information about the front I/O connectors that exists in the case manual. See page 1-21 of my motherboard manual: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/ROG_MAXIMUS_X_FORMULA/E13427_ROG_MAXIMUS_X_FORMULA_UM_WEB.pdf?_ga=2.146811831.1486131050.1533935187-553127753.1531639343 for where the front panel I/O is supposed to go. I have hooked up the power switch, power led, and activity led as shown below, and attached that connector to the bottom right header of my motherboard. This results in a non-functional power switch. I suspected that I also needed to attach the reset button, so I went hunting for that cable, and it turns out it is attached to a separate pcb on the back left of my case. see next pic: Since my motherboard seems to want the "RESET SW" plugged directly into my motherboard, but the case and the manual have the reset switch plugged into this pcb, where should the reset switch actually be plugged in and how do I get my power button working?

I'm rather new to building computers so please bare with me on this. Any help will be very much appreciatedI have recently built a new PC. I got it up and running Saturday night on 6/16/18. PC was running fine with no issues all night. The following day on 6/17/18 I continued to use the computer as usual with no issues. Doing my normal typical work, gaming and web browsing. Computers CPU temperatures ranging from 35-40 Celsius. Video Card Temps at about 35-48 Celsius. Towards the end of the night I installed the Asus Utilities download from the Support Page of the Motherboard which has AI Suite 3 and Dual Intelligent Processors 5. The next day on 6/19/18 I began using the computer after work to do some web browsing with some YouTube. After a while the computer monitor went blank and showed no signal. Everything in the computer is still running, fans, video card heat sink fan. I tried powering restarting via reset button in the front and nothing. I then tried holding down the Power Button and no luck with that either. I also noticed the HDD Lights weren't lighting up anymore either. So I had to manually shut it down via the back with PSU. I let sit for a bit and tried the computer again. I did the same, web browsing and YouTube. Left computer idle playing a video with no issues. Once I began activity web browsing. The same issue occurred. At that point at I didn't fire it up as I didn't want something to happen to the computer as I wasn't sure what is causing the problem. I then proceeded to look up threads for any similar cases but was unable to find anything, at least that I noticed. So I asked a friend of mine who has some building experience suggested I check Video Card for overclock. My Card was is overclocked by default. I can see this in the Asus GPU Tweak II Software. It has 3 default Profiles. Overclock Mode, Game Mode, and Silent Mode. I set it to default setting which is Silent Mode on the last try as it was set to Game Mode. When I fired up the AMD Ryzen Software I did notice the CPU was running Overclocked at a speed of 4.2GHz. As Far as I understand, the chip I have runs at 3.7GHz. I never messed with any settings to Overclock or any of that as I'm not to familiar with such steps. Now my questions is, what could be the possible reason this issue is occurring with the computer? Could it be the chip is overclocked? Hardware issues? Software Issues possibly? I'm afraid I could have overlooked something during the building process. Below is my list of all hardware of my new build. If anyone could provide any information or give me something to point me in the right direction. I would very much appreciate it and would mean a lot. I'm still new to all this and willing to hear and learn from others. Best regards and have a wonderful day. I will also provide pictures of my rig. If their is any additional information you may need of my computer please let me know. I went ahead and bought a couple of momentary anti-vandal buttons I had planned to drill holes through the plastic plates on the 3.5" drive bay. Unfortunately the plate cracked when I drilled the second hole. Does anyone know of a solution for me? Either a steel bay plate to a pre-drilled plate for a 22mm and a 16mm button.

So, let's say a guy had a super cheapo Rosewill mATX case, with a power button backlit by a blue LED. And he had the problem that he was gonna put a Red Team build in it, and the blue light right up front would harsh his vibes. #FirstWorldPCProblems If said guy wanted to just change that LED from blue to a soft white, on a scale of 1-10 how difficult would that be to DIY modify? On a similar note, what about swapping out the kinda ugly pink/green front audio ports to the more typical silver?

Hi! I have a build in my NZXT S340, that has been working fine for about 3 months, but recently, I've been having to press and hold down the power button more than once, and sometimes for more than 10 seconds. I have tried flipping the power switch connector, trying different pins, and I also turned on my system by shorting out the pins with no problems. (Don't think it's a MOBO issue) I hope I don't have to RMA this. Thanks! Video of problem:

Ok, I recently built my pc and it worked like a charm. However, when I bought the pc case, I was told the front LED was supposed to be a soft orange. When I powered it on and saw a sporadic flashing red light, I assumed something bad was happeneing and I shut the pc down. I switched some LED pins and it turned on, but was still red. I did this on off test a few times before i realized that the hddLED was red. Not sure why it wasn't Orange, but oh well. I turned the pc back off, put the side panels back on, replaced it in it's previous location at the left of my desk, plugged in my display and peripherals, hit power, and nothing. Didn't beep or flash or anything. Just didn't turn on. The only different thing I did was plug the mouse and keyboard into the front usb3.0 ports instead of the back like I usually do. The front ones were pretty stiff and didn't like being used, so I just plugged then into the back again and hit power. The only thing I can think of is that the power button has decided to stop working, however the button is at the opposite end of the case, that is, usb in upper middle, power at bottom. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hello well this is my first time building a pc by myself and I seem to have managed to work out all the technical issues by installing and reinstalling everything over the course of two days but one thing that refuses to work is the power button. The reset switch also does not work until I have turned the pc on by using the motherboard button. However, once I have turned on the machine by using the motherboard button the reset button on the case works fine any advice. The leds also work once I have turned it on via the motherboard.

I need help sourcing an I/O set up. Im building a custom case for my friend, and this is my first time building a case from scratch. I need a complete I/O set (Power button, usb 3.0, audio). Im not super picky. Infact seeing how difficult it is to find one with a power button im getting desperate. Extra features are welcome. I will be adding a fan controller to it also, so maybe an AIO would with the works would be great. I appreciate any help, This forum is always super helpful.

Killed 2 mobos. won't start with power btn.
harry9s posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I apologize In advance how long this is, but I thought It would help to diagnose: About 3 weeks ago I put a 1000w power supply, that I knew was good and had lying around, in my pc. All was fine until I (stupidly, late at night) plugged in the molex connector on my pcie riser (which is not needed as my mobo has an 8 pin connector) that i was using until I got a new case that would fit my 280x. There was a pop and a puff of smoke, I turned off my pc and inspected for damage, all appeared fine and I assumed I must have broken something like a capacitor/resistor in the riser. I turned my pc back on and everything was ok, I benchmarked for a while and it was normal. That night I turned off my pc. The next day I pressed the power button... Nothing. I quickly tried EVERYTHING to get it to show any signs of life(green and black wire on power supply which was normal, checking 24pin voltages were fine and they were, ram, shorting power switch pins with paperclip, different power supply, different gpu). I eventually stuck a paperclip in the green and black pins on the 24 pin connector while it was plugged in to the board... it turned on, but only while they were being shorted so was useless. I eventually gave up and switched to a random rubbish motherboard I had lying around, This worked perfectly and still is, except that the cpu is SLOW. A few days ago I got a spare pc from a friend that worked fine and had a slightly better cpu than the one I was using. I swapped my pc to the newer motherboard and cpu, basically it would not boot with my amd 280x gpu. While I was trying to get it to boot the same issue occured, IT WOULD NOT POWER ON, no idea why this time, so I went back to my rubbish cpu and motherboard and have been since. I am reluctant to buy a new motherboard incase it happens again. specs before issue: amd fx 6300(Idk if this works bc I don't have a spare am3+ mobo to test it). gigabyte dx10 motherboard(now dead by my feet). Novatech power station 1000x v2 80 plus bronze, black edition. sapphire vapor x 280x. 8gb of corsair vengance low profile. *sighs* thanks if you read all of that! Any ideas?- 2 replies

Hi, The two wires that go to the power button switch have come loose. Is it ok to turn my computer on/off by simply touching these two wires together? Will it cause any damage? Thanks
