Long time lurker however I have an issue I haven't been able to find a solution for. Bit of a long shot but here goes... Trying to install a PCI IOFX 420GB SSD card and hit a roadblock. Updated to latest version of VSL driver and IOFX firmware I could find and they just don't talk. In cmd line I get an error saying the firmware needs to be updated but I can't find anything newer. Any ideas?

Hi everybody, i'm preparing myself into my first pc build (waiting for ssd and ram), but i've ran into a problem. While i was dry placing my motherboard (gigabyte b450m ds3h) and gpu i noticed that it covers my pciex1 slot which as i understand is meant to be used as the optimal slot for a wireless network adapter (running cable from the modem isn't an option for me), but i'm left with the bottom pciex4 slot, where i can't really slot my gpu cause it wouldn't fit in and if it would it would be scraping the bottom of the case. So now i'm asking can i slot my network adapter in to the pciex4 slot and if yes, do i need to do something to get it to work or is it fine from the get go? All help will be appreciated and have a nice day, Damian

HP Omen 15-ax250wm I have posted before that my GPU disappeared after blowing some air from laptop vent. Today my NVMe disappeared too. It just won't show up anymore. I can't think up of any solution. Should I take it that my Laptop is broken? If so, what should be the next one to look up? I only have up to 500$.

Hey guys, So I got as a present a QCA-9377 and the interface is a PCIe 2.1 and I got a GA-AB350 motherboard. I cant figure out how to install this device. I tried this slots. I imagine that my motherboard doesnt support 2.1 is there a way I can surpass this problem without having to buy another adapter? And if no, which kind of interface should the new adapter have? Thanks for taking your time with this question!

I just bought a gtx 1660ti but realized that my power supply only had a 6 pin PCI-E cord and the 1660ti requires a 8 pin. Is there anything I can do without upgrading my power supply or damaging my card?? BTW my power supply is a cooler master 500 watts https://www.amazon.ca/Cooler-Extreme-RS-500-PCAR-I3-consumer-electronics/dp/B01E2IS2O6

I've had a problem with my newly built system for about a month or so now where i lose connection to all of my USB ports and possibly my pci slots. First, I will be in the middle of playing a game or just browsing the internet when I lose connection to my mouse and the internet at the same time. If I try to reconnect my mouse to the same port, it wont connect. The keyboard I use has a USB port, and my mouse reconnect using that port. Secondly, I use a wireless adapter for my internet connection. I lose connection with my game, if i'm playing online, or with chrome, and my computer can't find any router to join. In other occasions, my computer will randomly shut off with no crash report and reboot. I originally thought that i was using my computer to much, so I let it sit for 2 days to rest. I come to the same issues and still don't know what the problem(s) are. PC Part Picker Config: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fFXBq3

I just upgraded my system to a Ryzen 5 1600, and a Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming (https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-AX370-Gaming-rev-1x#kf) motherboard. I had a 970 in there before I received a 1070 off of my friend. Everything worked fine with the 970. The 1070, not so much. My motherboard has 2 PCIE x16 slots. One running at x16 (top slot), one running at x4 (bottom slot). The 1070 will boot fine from the bottom x4 slot. The x16 slot will allow the system to turn on, but will not display anything. I've updated the BIOS, updated the drivers, and the 1070 worked in my friend's computer before I got it from him. I'm at a loss at what could be wrong other than RMA'ing the motherboard to see if that PCI lane is messed up. But that just doesn't make a bit of sense to me since the 970 was working fine from it.

Hello, everyone! I'm looking at this SSD to buy from a guy but I am unsure if it is NVMe, and my laptop only supports NVMe ones. It is an M.2 2280 form factor, which is what I want. By the speeds it can't be SATA interface, but I'm confused as to whether PCI e gen 3x4 is NVMe or if those two are two different things! Looking up the part number online, I can't find anywhere saying "NVMe", so I'm afraid it isn't... aren't the only 2 protocols SATA and NVMe? Isn't PCIe gen 3x4 just another "synonym" with NVMe? Thank you so much I advance! I'm really confused now

Hello there. Like the title, do you know what speed to expect from the 2nd m.2 slot on the ASUS PRIME X470-PRO? The manual says this https://i.imgur.com/AtkpCcK.jpg, but I don't know if the 2nd slot is a x2 mode of a Gen2 (10gbps) or Gen3 (16gbps) pcie. Since I'd like to put a 2nd high performance nvme in the 2nd slot, I'd like, at least, to know which speed to expect, so I can choose better what to buy. Thanks in advance guys

Hey, I just recently purchased a dell optiplex 7010 to work from home. However I also bought it to do some light audio editing. In order to use my audio interface I need to install a PCI FireWire card. Ideally I'd like both 400 and 800. The problem is that I'm not 100% sure if I'm getting the right card (and also if there's a cheaper one somewhere?) I believe from the research I've done that it needs to be low profile so that it powers from the port and it also needs the smaller bracket size. The card I've been looking at is here https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002S53IG8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_QrcvFbZBYNTDY but it looks like this could have a bracket that won't fit? Maybe I'm wrong though. I am also attaching a picture of the board too. Appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

So I have an MSI Z370 Gaming Plus Motherboard, which has no Bluetooth on board. However it has the following extension PCIx Ports: (1 x PCIe 3.0 x16 1 x PCIe 3.0 x16 (x4 mode) 4 x PCIe 3.0 x1) //one for the GPU). My requirement for the card is: Bluetooth 5.0(or higher), aptx (low latency) and a price under €50. I already searched trough Amazon, but only found ones with strange brand names like Ziyituod ? Any recommendations? oh and my highest priority is for audio b 5.0 and aptx

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ADT-Link-External-Graphics-Thunderbolt-PCI-Express/dp/B07ZB5CS1R Hello, I'm in the market for a new laptop and fancy the XPS 2in1 because I'm a student and the keyboard/ screen/ track-pad reputation as well as the look and size are very appealing to me. That being said I'm also a gamer, so would like some gaming capability in a new laptop, especially an expensive one. Unfortunately they don't make GPU equipped versions of that laptop, but I have a plan. I already have a desktop GTX1070, and might as well use it if I'm going to be gaming on my laptop for any length of time (like a holiday or stopping over at the GF's house for example. My plan was to use the Thunderbolt 3 to PCI-E riser (linked above) along with a small power-supply to pair that with the xps, I was wondering if anyone knows of a better solution or any reason this outright wouldn't work. I have considered an external GPU dock (like the razer core) and as I understand it, they are just a similar solution to this but combined with the power supply in a single unit. The reason I am keen to avoid anything like that is that I am currently saving up for the XPS working during University down-time and want to put as much of my eventual budget as possible towards a higher-spec model, and all of the GPU docks I have seen are very expensive. If I can jank-diy a solution cheaper without cracking open my laptop like those m.2 based options, that would be fantastic. Cheers.

OS: WINDOWS 10 Pro x64 (1803) DEVICE: C-MEDIA CMI8738 (PCI sound card) So the problem is... The application for Sound Card settings aren't working at all, the thing is it was working before. I reinstalled drivers (in compatability mode because C-MEDIA doesn't support drivers for this devices for win8 and up), the aplication appeared in Control Panel but it just won't launch. I have a few ideas of work around but still need help with something. I want to try and launch it in compatability mode as well, but since the file is in the control panel I cannot do that, nor find file location. Any idea on how to find the executable file?

Hey Everyone, I'm looking for an internal thunderbolt 3 card that's compatible with multiple types of motherboards (specifically Asus Z97-K and MSI Z370-A Pro). I'm wanting to be able to use 2 Blackmagic Ultrastudio Minis. I've been using my MBP for them but it's struggling... badly. So let's attach it to the beefy Xeon PCs.

Is PCI express card into PCI slot possible?
Newbie0 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, Recently I have moded my case. So that, i can not use the top yellow slot (PCIe 2.0 x 1). Now I’m wondering if i could use the PCI slot(may be legacy), which is at bottom. Then it will solve my probelm. One more thing, if i flip my card and put it in bottom yellow area; will it work?? Or should I must put my sound card into red area of PCI slot. Please help me out. Thanks. -
will dual slot card fit in g31-m3-v2 mobo? yes i know it sounds stupid but: the space between the pcie and the thing where you plug mic and headphones is small. check for pictures on the internet and you will get me. thx for your help and time.

Hi! I have the Intel B250 motherboard and I was recently considering to add an SSD to my system. So I opened my case and saw these to things saying SSD next to them (see attachment). But I thought these were too small to be regular SATA. So does anyone know what kind of device would fit on these slots? Thanks!

Hello, I am fixing up a pc that my friend who went off to join the army gave me to give to a friend, and the friend doesn't have the ability to use a ethernet cable. The case is a DIY PC Cuboid R http://www.mydiypcusa.com/products/cases/cuboid-r.html The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA78LMT USB3 https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-78LMT-USB3-rev-60#ov The graphics card is a non aftermarket Radeon RX 480 that you would find on AMD's website https://www.amd.com/en/products/graphics/radeon-rx-480 The issue is that when I plug the RX 480 into the PCIe x16 slot, the PCIe x1 Slot is covered by the fan/heatsink housing, and all that is left is a PCI slot. Does anyone know of a way to either use a sata connector or molex connector or use the PCI slot to get a PCIe x1 slot adapter of some sort or a PCI wireless network adapter to make something like this work http://www.rosewill.com/product/rosewill-rnx-ac1300pce-wifi-adapter-wireless-adapter-pci-e-network-card-802-11ac-dual-band-ac1300-pci-express-network-adapter-2-4-ghz-400-mbps-5-ghz-867-mbps-include-low-profile-bracket/ ? PLEASE HELP ASAP!

Sorry if this is the wrong place, i couldn't find a more relevant place for this. So im looking for a good pci/internal capture card to play games on my PC in windowed mode and preferably with 1080p and 60fps support(futureproof) and as little latency as possible since im going to be using my PC to play instead of changing inputs. As for price range anything from $50-200. Im not really going to be using it for recording but once in a while i might. If anyone knows of a good capture card with this specs id really appreciate it.

Okay I'll keep this as short as I can. Backstory: ======== I bought a used Zotac FE GTX760 which didn't work at first. It needed a small soldering of an IC connection on the back to work as it was loose. It was done at a professional shop. The problem started after installing Nvidia drivers (though it's not caused by the driver itself) The card is recognised as a GTX 680 instead of a GTX 760. Since then I've tried in vain to flash it with nvflash only to be greeted by 'Gpu mismatch' and it doesn't ask for any prompt for override ( I did use override codes -5,-6. -4 is unrecognised). So anyway, after watching a guide on youtube,(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSlgOZZMKU8) I managed to successfully flash the GTX 760 bios on it in DOS mode. Current Issue: =========== The current issue is that Device ID is recognised correctly as 1187, corresponding to GTX 760. However, PCI adaptor ID is recognised as 1180, aka GTX 680. Therefore Nvidia will install 680 drivers instead of 760 and it crashes on desktop. I've been trying for days trying to fix it with no luck Only possible way i can imagine is to manually change Adaptor id using --setpci command in Nvflash but I don't know how. I really need help with this as I really can't afford another GPU. Specs: ===== Asus P5G41T-MLX Pentium E5700 @3Ghz 2Gb DDR3 1333Mhz GTX 760 (obviously lol) Corsair VS550 I know it isn't the best, but I'll be putting a Xeon in it and add 8gb of Ram and I'll have a 1080p capable rig You can see that Adaptor ID is that of a 680, while the device ID shows 760
