I have a dell optiplex 760 small form factor computer and would like to transfer it to a new case. The motherboard is kinda flipped as the PCIE slots are above the I/O outputs. Does anyone have any suggestions for a case that would fit?

Hey guys, I've bought some parts to build a home server and had a question about the proprietary board for the Dell Optiplex 790 SFF (Dell D28YY) This is the small form factor board. I was wondering, as I've found mixed responses. This board is mATX, or something else? And the power switch header located here: Is a proprietary 5 pin header for the power switch (it's a single switch but I do believe it includes LEDs, and sorry for the big picture dunno how to change) I was wondering if I could use a standard 2 pin power switch for this or turn it on via jumping certain pins, and which pins? Thanks everyone and sorry for being vague!

hello, i just recently got a dell optiplex 755 dt for like 10$ now i want to ugrade my cpu and gpu, i have an extra psu in my house if i ever need it, i want to upgrade my gpu to a 750ti or something like that, but on internet ive seen that that motherboard has a label on its pcie 16x slot that says 25W... ive seen multiple posts on multiple forums talking about upgrading gpu in a dell optiplex 755, but none of them really answered my question... at least nobody said that a 750ti wouldnt work.. but nobody said that it did work. if the 750 ti doesnt end up working i could try to use a gt 1030 which will kind of work thanks to its low power consumption... but lets face it... thats not a gaming gpu. whiile for the cpu upgrade i was thinking about a xeon x3363, thoughts about that? it seems cheap, while still faster than a q6600... would it work? would i have a chance at running games at 1080p? thanks so much

So i am looking for a super cheap (<$25), used graphics card on ebay and it needs to be low profile to fit in my optiplex 745 sff. The goal is to run csgo with at least minimum requirements. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I need help, I am trying to change the power supply for my old desktop which is Dell Optiplex 740 with a regular 450 watt PSU but the CPU does not boot at all.. Reason is recently i upgraded the graphics to gtx1050ti SFF(Modified Bracket) which does not need any additional supply but the built in PSU does not support it hence PSU change is necessary. Please advise thanks..

Okay, so I have just installed a Radeon rx 560 into my OptiPlex 960 MT series. Problem is that once I install the drivers from the AMD site and reboot I am having graphical issues, and I am readjng a code 43. Uninstalled drivers and reinstalled. No change. At this point I'm at a loss. Anyone know what may be causing the issue or know how to a dress it?

So I ordered a Dell Optiplex 9020 Mini Tower today. The system I ordered comes with a 1 TB hard drive, though looking to add the SSD as the master drive to put windows on. Dell seems to have proprietary features in place. I have been having some troubles to easily locate a backet/caddy for a SSD. Are there any after market alternatives you can point me in the right direction with. Cheers

Ok so I have this project where I will turn a trashpicked Dell optiplex 755 into a low tier gaming PC, it has a core 2 Q6600 (2.4ghz), 5gb ram, 275w PSU and a 500gb HDD. I moved all the internals into a mid tower so I could fit any GPU I need. I was looking to get a 750ti because it's cheap and doesn't require a 6pin or 8pin power adapter, on the outer vision calculator the entire system wattage would be 257w so my question is will the card even work with the old dell mobo? And if it doesn't what card should I get?

I'm getting a i5-6500 dell optiplex sff for free and I'm wanting to know if 1. can I upgrade the psu and if so to what one. 2. If I can't upgrade the psu can the stock psu run a 1050ti? I would appreciate all of the help! Thank you guys.

I'm planning on buying a Dell Optiplex 9020 MT from eBay. It'll come with 8GB RAM and an i5-4690. I was thinking about getting a Zotac GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC Edition Graphics Card to use untill miners eventually stop buying all the good cards and they get back in stock. My question is: Should I get the 1050 Ti and then get the 1060 6GB (With a new PSU) when the mining is over and they are back in stock or just wait and get the 1060 6GB (With a new PSU) and not get the 1050 Ti?

I have a dell optiplex 7020 MT. Motherboard is this Genuine-Dell-Optiplex-7020-Motherboard-DP-N-F5C5X-LGA-1150.See this pic: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1ZxG1j27AlgMGNFZ01OS...In the pic, can I install my pciE x1 wireless adapter in the number 1 labeled black slot? And install a gtx 750 ti graphcis card on the number 5 labeled slot? I can't install the pcie x1 card on the 3 labeled because the gtx 750 ti requires two brackets, and it would take the place on the pcie x1 slot.I dont have the gtx 750 ti yet. I will still buy it. Before buying it, i tried installing the pcie x1 wireless adapter on the number 1 labeled slot. But computer would turn on, but my mouse, keyboard, monitor wouldn't. Is it becuase the number 5 slot is empty right now? So when I get my graphis card and install it in the number 5, and my wireless card in the number 1, will everything work fine?I'm sorry if i confused you a lot. Please help me. And btw i installed a 520w power supply. Will the gtx 750 ti work?

Me and a friend have found Dell optiplex 9020's with i7 4770s in them (Small form factor case). I was wondering if i can put in a gtx970 and use it as a gaming pc. Is there anything I would have to do to get it to work properly? I live in a Australia and would like to spend most of my budget on the gpu (Not including PC itself). Not interested in looks, if it works it works

Got this pc free as parts and I think the only thing wrong with it is the psu. However, since it isnt the mini tower, the psu is smaller and more rectangular. Id like to put one closer to 300w in it. Anyways, My question is, is there an after market solution or will I have to buy a used one and hope it works? Or will a new psu even help? (see pictures below for reference) its an optiplex 790 with the i5 2400

Hello all, Haven't visited the forum in a while, so I'll go straight to the point. I own an old but trusty Dell Optiplex 9020 mini tower, with the specs: I5 4570 8GB DDR3 RAM 300W OEM Power supply (with 8 pin connector to Motherboard instead of usual 24 pin) Nvidia GTX 750ti 240 GB SSD + 600 GB HDD 2 x 24'' Dell monitors (60Hz) - These will not change as my peripherals are all supplied by my employer. I usually play World of Warcraft as main game, but also a lot of Rocket League, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, F1 2016. I had noticed my rig could not handle witcher 3 very well but on medium to low settings it was playable. However, recently after buying F1 2018, I noticed I could not play smoothly at all at 1080p. I had to lower to 900p to have a decent frame rate. I believe I will continue gaming forever but always 1-2 hours per day maximum, so I am not planning for a top spec machine. I also have family investments coming so need to spend as little as possible, but also keep in mind it should last me a decent amount of time. So, the question now is Buy a new tower, for around 640 USD Case - Corsair Carbide 200R - 63 USD Power Supply - EVGA 600 BR 600W Bronze CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1500X w/ cooler MoBo - ASUS B450 RAM - 8GB DDR4 Graphics card - Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Note: I already own the SSD + HDD I will need. Upgrade my existing rig with the following parts for a total of 375 USD: COOLER MASTER MWE 550W 80+ BRONZE (65 USD) Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB (300 USD) 24 pin to 8 pin adapter for the Power supply Motherboard connector. (10 USD) Upgrade my existing rig with minimal specs for 255 USD: COOLER MASTER MWE 550W 80+ BRONZE (65 USD) Nvidia GTX 1050 ti (180 USD) (requires only 75W from the PCI board) 24 pin to 8 pin adapter for the Power supply Motherboard connector. (10 USD) If any of the above lasts me at least 2 years I am absolutely fine. If less then I might be more inclined for a new build. Thoughts? Regards

Hello everyone, I'm planning to make a build out of an Optiplex 9020/7020, but have just gotten a bit confused as to compatibility between these components and hope someone can straighten me out. CX450M & Adapter - I understand I'll need at 12 to 8 pin (Dell specific) adapter for the new PSU to work. I believe this [ https://www.moddiy.com/products/Dell-OptiPlex-9020-PSU-Main-Power-24%252dPin-to-8%252dPin-Adapter-Cable-%2830cm%29.html ] is known to work reliably (unlike others where users note poor quality control), though I don't know what to do with the 1(?) pin molex connector - not sure what plugs into that. CX450M & RX 570 - I've seen it posted that 'many' power supplies that while in theory provide enough wattage, won't work with the Dell specific power setup because they don't provide enough power on the correct rails (3.3/5v) as seen here [ https://www.dell.com/community/Optiplex-Desktops/9020-MT-Problems-Installing-GTX1060-or-Radeon-RX570-oc/td-p/7277156 ] (search for "BARE Minimum working" and read that post)? So, I've gotten a bit spun around and need some clarification - thank you for reading, any response is appreciated.

I bought a rx 570 and i wanted to use it on a dell optiplex 790 ssf(i already have a 700w psu and a bigger case). The only problem that i have is that i heard that amd rx cards are not supported by older oem desktops. Will updating the bios to the latest version fix this issue? System: Dell Optiplex 3010 SFF, CPU Core i5 3470 3.2 GHz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB HDD, GPU NVIDIA GT 1030 Issue: on first boot CPU is stuck in Turbo Boost mode (3.55 GHz) when idle, one restart fixes it and the CPU idles at 1.55 GHz. How it came to be: either bios update and loading default settings (less likely), or running Dell SupportAssist software where Tune performance default option messed with system files and registry. (more likely). Tried: loading system defaults on the newest bios, flashing the previous version of bios and loading system defaults, clearing cmos, enabling/disabling Turbo Boost in bios, enabling/disabling Speedstep in bios, switching back and forth from balanced and high performance power mode, running Dell SupportAssist again, uninstalling Dell SupportAssist. Opinion: Dell SupportAssist software messed with registry and system files since even disabling Turbo Boost in bios has no effect but one restart fixes the issue. Suggestions?

I have a dell optiplex 980 i7 that I wanted to convert into a gaming pc. I took it apart outside and spray painted everything black and left everything out to dry. The next day I woke up with my psu sitting in 3 inches of water because the water sprinklers unknowingly went off. So is my psu dead? If so I can’t just replace it for $20 because the motherboard connector is specifically for dell. That would mean I would have to buy a whole another $500 computer. Which I can’t afford because I’m only 12. I heard other people saying that if it has power going through it, it is fryed but if it’s off it just needs to dry. I didn’t have power connected to it, it was completely disconnected. Will it work or is it fryed and what should I do? I can’t really afford to buy a whole another computer.
