Wasn't Insomniac a sony exclusive developer? I hope Insomniac bring the same quality of the development to it's vr games as everything else. https://newstechandgaming.blogspot.com/2018/05/insomniac-to-unveil-open-world-oculus.html

I already have a CV1 so I'm overdoing it a bit, but I recently realized that almost all of the gearvr games are available on the Go so having access to like a thousand more games makes it worth it to me. Especially with the fact that it has two turn-based RPGs available for it which has been lacking on the PC side of VR. Anyone else ordering one out of curiosity? Obviously PC VR is miles ahead of mobile VR so that goes without saying, but this is exciting for VR since this is like the equivalent of the first dedicated VR console since it's an all-in-one for 200 bucks. It has the potential of bringing VR more into the mainstream which is good for all of us who are into it. What are your thoughts about it?

I could hardly believe it when sorting by reviews on steam and saw that Beat Saber, an early access VR game, is the top reviewed game on steam. I feel like this game might be the one to finally give VR the kick it needs for mass adoption. I think this will be the biggest VR game to date and I don't think it will be close. https://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=Reviews_DESC&category1=998%2C996

If you've had the issue where you get a hardware error with a yellow warning on "Generic Superspeed USB hub" in device manager that makes you unplug and plug back in your rift cable to clear.. I found the solution: (This will likely apply to other USB devices as well.) .Go into your bios and find your USB settings menu. .Look for a setting that lets you switch between full initialization and partial initialization. .Switch this to partial initialization. Your rift or sensor USB's are doing this because they don't like being initialized during bootup. It may also be USB 2.0 legacy support kicking in when it shouldn't. If you don't have a bios setting like this, you may still have other options. If you don't mind losing all USB 2.0 device support with your USB 3.0 ports, you can turn off legacy support in all of the bios's I've seen. That may fix it too on a hunch, but I haven't confirmed it. You may also be able to solve this by turning off fast boot in some scenarios, because I could imagine this full initialization/partial initialization setting could be tied to that on less advanced motherboards. This has happened with two different motherboards for me so I figure it's somewhat common. I'm putting the solution here in this forum to archive it so it's somewhere that people can find on google if they need help with it.

I am having a problem where my oculus sensors are working perfectly, but if I plug my t500RS wheel into the front IO of my case one of my sensors starts disconnecting and reconnecting constantly. But my sensor is plugged in to the back of the motherboard. Could this be caused by the USB controller or board cant handle so much throughput at the same time? I remember this happening once before and then a restart fixed it, but trying to troubleshoot whats causing it so I havent done that yet. Also sometimes when I have been using my PC for a few hour and then decide to play VR I only see black in the HMD, or the headset starts disconnecting and reconnecting. also fixed by restart but its a bit annoying. Anyone experienced the same issues? Ive unchecked the box to allow the sensors to go to sleep, Ive tried different USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers..

Will overclocking the BCLK improve the performance of VR USB devices such as Oculus sensors? This question has been nagging at me in the back of my mind. I know that overclocking from the BCLK technically overclocks your whole system even your USB controllers.. so I'm wondering if that'd hurt or improve the performance of high bandwidth USB devices such as Oculus sensors with motherboards that are on the low end of supporting them like maybe an 1150 socket motherboard with regular USB 3.0. Just for the sake of science I'm wondering. Has anyone tested this? Even if not, what are your thoughts? It wouldn't be something that's necessary as you can just buy a USB card in that situation, but I'm debating on whether or not I should do an experiment with this.

Every time I see a VR discussion of if someone should buy an Oculus or Vive, I always see people claiming that the rift doesn't have roomscale. It's had roomscale for like 2 years. Ever since touch released. In fact, it's pretty much the same size playspace too. Around 12x12 feet with 3 sensors and about 14x14 with 4 maybe a bit more. That's not counting expanding the playspace to the point where the tracking gets bad of course for either one. They're pretty much the same. I don't get all of the Oculus versus Vive stuff. They're both awesome, but this one just makes me want to:

Need some help really bad. Just bought a Rift with the controllers and everything but for some damn reason, the OculusSetup.exe application won't run for me... At all. It just crashes right after I run it, doesn't show any window or any error, just a windows error message. I checked the log files, all looks fine, nothing shows an error. I've tried all the generic trouble shooting methods like running as admin or moving the file somewhere else, even re-downloading the file, trying other setup files. I also tried changing my "program files" folder attributes to make them not "read only" as one user recommended (if you get what I'm trying to say). I'm at a loss and their support isn't getting back to me, nor are their forums. It's been 4 days...

Hiya i'm contemplating getting a VR headset and not sure which rout to go. At the moment a new rift with controllers and sensors is about the same price as a second hand Vive with controllers and sensors,or £200 more new. Is the Vive worth getting second hand or the extra money over the Rift

So I just got my Rift a few hours ago and have had fun with the Oculus apps but now I want to try SteamVR but it's not recognizing that my Rift is on. I'm getting this error message I've done all the Googling and whatnot. I've tried manually telling SteamVR to use my GTX 1070 through the Nvidia Controller 3D settings. I can't seem to find the program to run SteamVR as admin though. Any help would be great as there are tons of games on Steam that I'd like to get and some I already have that can use VR.

I ordered an oculus rift w/ touch controllers and 2 sensors and am expecting them to arrive today or tomorrow. I am looking for any good free or paid games for oculus, from oculus store, steam, or mods. Touch supported games preferred except racing games are an exception ofcourse . Favorite genres: Racing, stealth, FPS, horror, RPG. Feel free to suggest me anything and tell me your experience with the game. Thanks in advance! - Henrik

ASW was created to make it so you could use an Oculus Rift with a lower end card, but it also has another fun use. You can get much higher graphics settings with it on, but you need to use something to monitor FPS to make sure you're not dropping below 45 FPS and causing compositor frame drops. You can use the tray tool for that. There are HUD's for monitoring things. The performance hub shows FPS on the left, your performance headroom on the right and application/compositor frame drops up top. .First turn ASW on 45 FPS and then back to auto to make sure it's activated. .Enable the performance HUD. .Put on your VR headset and crank the settings in your game. .Walk around and keep your eye on the FPS. If it drops to 45 fps that's ASW kicking in.. if it drops below that, you need to lower some settings and try again. .After you're done with that, you need to keep refining it a bit more. Now, memorize the compositor frame drop number, walk around in game for about 10 minutes and if you don't have any compositor frame drops, you're good to go. If you have 1 or 2 and you're an experienced VR user, it may not even bother you so that's personal preference, but you don't want a lot of them. I get 1080ti level settings on my 1080 this way. I'm at about -10 to -20 performance headroom and I'm not getting a single drop or stutter. I don't recommend this for new users though as if you're still getting used to VR, it may make you sick. It apparently doesn't work as well on some cards as it does on others, but that's anecdotal so take that with a grain of salt. This combined with a GPU overclock, can make a very big difference. If you're getting drops no matter what you do, you likely have another problem going on that needs to be resolved like a botched driver update or a bad nvidia control panel setting. Note: Compositor frame drops that happen between loading screens and when you first put your rift on don't count. Only ones that happen while in the game walking around do.

I have a 1070 and I don't know if it could handle the games well, can you help? Also, what do I need to get when I get the oculus (Wires, adapters, etc.). Also also, I forgot if the oculus rift can run steam games, if you know please tell.

So I've decided on getting an Oculus Rift, just have to click "Buy now" on Amazon. I'm wondering what are some good games to get that will help me get every bit of fun out of the headset? I already have Elite: Dangerous (which will be a huge one for me), Subnautica and War Thunder. I play some racing sims like iRacing so I'll try it with that, I'm also looking forward to trying it on Euro Truck Simulator 2. Things I'm looking at getting for it are Star Trek: Bridge Crew and I Expect You To Die. Anything else I should check out? Maybe from the Rift store? Are the games bundled with it any good?

So with a little Christmas cash I’ve decided to treat myself to some VR. My main issue obviously is which headset to get. I’ve heard and read that the Rift is lighter thus more comfortable while the Vive is heavier due to the sensors and whatnot. The Vive has room scale vs the Rifts sitting or standing. In my current room I don’t really have space for moving around in VR but I’d like the option to in the future. The Rift is also a hell of a lot cheaper than the Vive, £350 on Amazon vs £600 at Currys which makes the Rift very attractive. I already have Elite: Dangerous and Subnautica in terms of VR games but I’d like to get Job Simulator and Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades (which is only available for HTC Vive I know). Any help deciding? Any experience with VR that could help? Should I wait for what the next year brings? I don’t really want to wait because I’ve already been waiting for forever. Thanks!

I am unsure as on what to do. I'm super stoked to start in VR, but as we all know those things aren't cheap. If I were to buy the Rift S now I would be able to use it for approximately 2 months, after which I'd have to leave for about half a year in which I wont be able to use it. Are there any expected new VR-sets planned to be released in 2020 that would make me want to consider holding off the purchase until after I get back? (I havent seen any from the "main" brands, but I could have missed something) Whats your general opinion on what I should do? Im just too hyped and need to have some fresh eyes on the situation before I buy and regret. Current PC specs - i7-2600 (3.4Ghz Quad-core 8Threads) - MSI GTX 1080 8GB Gaming OC X (Will most likely upgrade pc with new CPU, MOBO etc when I get back, but keep the GPU)

VR is no doubt about to get very popular with the advent of HL:Alyx and all the games/mods that will spawn with Source 2 SDK. (Not to mention this is only 1 of their 3 promised flagship VR games) I think it's worth having a section for: VR - General VR - Hardware nested under general and VR - Games/Software nested under general What do you think? I know I'd like to discuss it here at LTT :) I'd also like to help people out with budget VR setups that aren't shit!!!! (for those in the UK, look at CEX for used Windows MR headsets, or used Oculus CV1s, no joke they're cheap as fuck! and work so well. Windows MR tracking got massively improved since it was first released. I use a Lenovo Explorer myself)

Oculus Rift has a new minimum spec Doesnt matter. Most people are using the vive anyway. So this is a controversial one, to say the least. Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey has been revealed as the mysterious money man behind the creation of a pro-Trump campaign to spread memes and shitposts. Luckey apparently contacted the group through Facebook (where else), and promised to match community donations to the cause. /r/The_Donald redditors were not convinced of the authenticity of the plan, even when it was backed by Milo Yannopoulos. The timing of the revelation is awkward for Oculus, just 2 weeks ahead of its annual Oculus Connect conference, this year expected to be a major PR push for the Touch controller launch. My personal opinion on this is... I barely have words to describe how crazy this is. It's one thing to back Trump, but to specifically back a meme/shitposting brigade? And the timing is absolutely awful for Oculus, right when they're about to roll out their Touch controllers and a raft of new content to go with them. This could literally be a significant blow to Oculus, heck even to VR as a whole. Just because some rich kid wearing socks and sandals () gets off on more or less racist shitposting. I guess there really is a thin line between genius and insanity. Source: The Verge

Hey, I'm wondering if I meet the specs to run a Vive at 60 fps with high graphics. I'm not sure if my cpu is good enough. Please no biased opinions. My specs: Evga Gtx 1070 Amd Fx-8300 16g ram. Thanks for your time.

I didn't came across the news here yet, so here it goes: The German retailer Media Markt accidentally made the product page for the Oculus Touch public, revealing a price of € 199,- (including 19% VAT) and a launch at the 21st of November. VRTech article here. Quite a hefty price for a controller. At the moment the Oculus Rift+Touch would be about €100,- more expensive than the HTC Vive. Is there any way the Touch controller is better then the Vives' and would it justify the extra cost?

I want a VR headset but AUSTRALIA IS EVIL meaning that... VIVE (Approximately $1350AUD) RIFT (Approximately $1100 give or take) OSVR 1.4 HDK ($480) FINALLY SHIPPING HERE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW So Yeah price is a big thing FIRST OF ALL I don't mind the drawback of not having walk around experiences... I mainly want it for a seated experience e.g. Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, Project Cars SECONDLY I am fine with the "less good" screen (there are upgrades to the new display) THIRDLY I don't mind the trek of setting it up A few questions. (I have googled) Will the OSVR "technically" work with most of steamvr's games? and Considering I am 15 and work at maccas would this be the "best" option for me. Thanks
