Budget (including currency): 400 Country: usa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gta sa, oblivion, nfsu, etc. Games of that Era. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have had this acer aspire for over 15 years, it has a ht2000 motherboard, 512 mb of ram, and a single core athlon 3500+. I never use it anymore but it has sentimental value as it belonged to my grandfather originally. I recently had the idea to just dress it up in the best components of its own Era, just to play some old games on it. Whether it's good by today's standards is irrelevant, it's more of a pet project. The issue I want to address before I buy anything for it is compatibility for the motherboard, it is an am2 board, but being relatively new to computers in general really I'm just unsure of whether any am2 processor will do or not, nor am I particularly familiar with parts of that Era. Any input on the matter would be very much appreciated.

Need motherboard ideas Ryzen 7800x3d
JackAttackHero posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Going to put a Ryzen 7800x3d and 7900xtx into a system and I need a motherboard thats going to be well optimized for it. I do gaming and content creation. -
Essentially what I want is a new motherboard that doesn't feel like I'm downgrading my motherboard but it costs less than my taichi mb. I spent around $270 for that mb and It was a good board but I don't want to spend that much again for an older generation cpu. I bought my mb 3 years ago and I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty by now. The most important thing for my new mb is that it has 3 m.2 slots since I have 3 ssds.

I've been using an old pc ad a minecraft server on and off for the past 3years the pc contains an a10-6700 apu 16gb of ddr3 ram and a gt620 (all the parts are from an old prebuilt the acer tc-130). (I'm gonna call it a server for a large part of this even tho technically it is just a regular desktop) The pc has been working for the last 3yrs, as the nature as a second older pc I've cycled alot of components in and out including multiple harddrives and os (windows 8.1 , windows 10, 11(even tho it's unsupported I goy it working) and ubuntu server) The server was working last week when I decided to switch out the mechanical harddtive into my main pc to speed up chunk loading, the drive ended up dying a day in probably unrelated but gor detail. So I decided to use my 500gb crucial sata ssd to have the minecraft server on with ubuntu server as the os (same as the harddrive) point is i finish rendering the world and went to put the ssd into the server and was met with a reboot or insert proper boot media. Since I've attempted to use 4 different drives a harddrive with Windows 11 on a harddrive with ubuntu server on and my ssd i plan to use with ubuntu server and even tried to use a blank drive and install ubuntu server onto it with boot media which worked whilst installing but after restarting as part of the install process (the part when removing the usb stick) it can't detect a boot device. Since I've tried 5 different ram sticks, a range of different sata cables. I've some what attempted tk change bios settings but have a limited knowledge do a fix to the issue is likely to be seated there if there is one. The only other thing I could suspect is the powersupply howrver the harddrives spin to life on power on so this doesn't seem to be an issue any input is appreciated there's 2 links showing below. (Don't judge me for being on carpet and using motherboard boxes to keep of it ik it's risky but I don't rlly have many other option available at the momment) Boot without keyboard: https://youtube.com/shorts/LdTeL4OqOGM?si=-YN1-Oj4UObUbapt Bios and boot with keyboard: https://youtu.be/zn2lzjh9ZkY?si=9L89AV98_yAI7V8n

Hi, my computer is turning off underload (starting a game), reseating RAM always works, the computer boots, but everytime I want to launch any game, computer turns off and I have to reseat it again... After my computer turn off, bcs of the "load", my fans ain't spinning... only their lights are on and my motheboard light is on too. Is it more likely to be my RAM faulty or does it sound like a motherboard issue? All 16 GB of RAM shows up, their frequency shows up right and the usage seems normal... My CPU and GPU are around 50°C on idle so overheating does not seems to be the problem too... can't quite get the temperatures in-game.. bcs.. u know.. I can't launch any game rn.. Ty for any help

Hello LTT Community, I'm planning a new PC build and am considering the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX ICE motherboard for my Intel i7 14700K CPU. Before finalizing this choice, I wanted to gather insights from this knowledgeable community. Compatibility Concerns: Are there any known compatibility issues between the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX ICE and the Intel i7 14700K? Performance Feedback: If anyone has experience using this motherboard, particularly with the i7 14700K, how has your experience been regarding performance, stability, and overclocking capabilities? Alternative Recommendations: I would appreciate suggestions if there are better-suited motherboards for the i7 14700K. My priority is balancing performance, future-proofing, and reliability for gaming and professional workloads. Thank you in advance for your help and advice!

We just upgraded our cpu from the i7 8700k to the i9 9900k and it’s power cycling with all 32gb ram in it we also did boot it with 2 of the ram sticks in slots b1 & b2 when the i9 is in slots a1 & b2 don’t work specs before i7 8700k Asrock And Radeon Rx 6800xt mobo Asus rog strix Z370-E Corsair Vengeance 32gb (4x 8gb) 3400MHz ram corsair 1000w psu so we’re not sure if it’s faulty ram or faulty slots that puts the computer into a power cycle

I was wondering if a SATA connector connected to the motherboard this way, maybe we can replace it with a M.2 SATA or M.2 NVMe. If that's not possible and NVMe should be connected directly to the motherboard, is that possible to move my WiFi Card over here (on the place of ODD SATA port)? so that I can connect an NVMe ssd there. Also Speccy says I have 3 PCIe x1 ports available. What are those and how I can utilize them?

MB: Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX The screw I marked in the photo is completely stuck. I've tried screwing counter-clockwise and also clockwise without it rotating a single degree. I've tried to unscrew it so hard I end up just scratching the screw instead. How do I take off the cover? I've heard you're supposed to loosen it up and take off the cover with the screw, but the screw doesn't get loose, it can't be rotated a single degree as I said before. The screwdriver seems to fit pretty good with only being a little smaller than the gaps in the screw.

i have 4 sticks of corsair ddr4 3200mhz ram on msi b450 mortar and i tested all the ram are working however whenever i try to boot up with the ram configuration like this: [(ram)(ram)(empty)(empty)] or [(empty)(empty)(ram)(ram)] my computer fails to boot up and the debug led light up on ram. Only with [(ram)(ram)(ram)(ram)] and [(empty)(ram)(empty)(ram)] and [(ram)(empty)(ram)(empty)] does my pc boot up Anyone have any idea if the motherboards is dying or its a bios/software issue? i have already checked my cpu for bent pins and reseated my cpu , cleared my bios , reset cmos by taking battery out the rest of my system if it matters: msi ventus gtx1660 super , ryzen 7 2700 , boot drive mx500 1tb

I've been reading the new specs on new AMD motherboards and seems like they've added a third number in the power stage nomenclature, but after digging on the web for 3 days I haven't found any reliable info about it. I know that in the 16 + 2 nomenclature, the first one is the power phase for CPU and the second is for RAM. But now, with 16 + 2 + 2, idk what is the third number for. Can you help me guys? Thank you.

So my fiance's PC keeps restarting randomly whenever it's doing anything (reinstalling windows, playing games, sitting idle). At first we thought it might be that at our old place the wiring was bad and the over current/over voltage protection was being tripped. But now in a new place, same issue. Swapped out power supplies, GPU and still same issue. The power supply and GPU are fine, tested them in my rig and ran stress tests and my PC stayed on the whole time and is still on (using her PSU but back to my GPU for now). At first I thought to test the ram in the slots they were in, 2 and 4. Same issue. Removed one stick (in slot 4) and it booted and before I could finish installing windows it turned off, you could hear it turn off, and then it turned itself back on and booted back up. Tried the other stick in the same slot, same thing. Trying a stick in slot 2, it won't boot but everything turns on and the fans are at max. The Mobo shows an orange LED where the dram is, maybe that slot is dead? Her Mobo is Asus b 550 gaming Her GPU is a 2070 Super Zotac XC Gaming PSU is currently my PSU - rm850x Ram is GSkill Trident Z Neo 16gb ddr4 3600 CPU is 3700x CPU cooler is a Corsair aio, the h150i pro if she remembers correctly. (I can edit later if this ends up being incorrect) I've made sure all connections are good on both the Mobo and the PSU and nothing smells like burning so I don't think anything is shorted, but I could be wrong. Should I test the other stick first and see if the dram light still comes on, or should I just assume the Mobo is dead and replace it? (Can't test the CPU as we don't have a spare and we don't have thermal paste. I also don't know if my CPU would work in her Mobo. My CPU is a 2600)

I accidentally dropped the CPU while inserting it into the socket and now can't post. Ezdebug says CPU. Going to attempt the repair in about an hour. Anyone have any advice? Y'all think I'll be able to save the motherboard? Please point out any bent or misaligned pins you see, I'm having some difficulty seeing the problem. I'll attach some photos....

Hello I have a Lenovo ideapad s145 I5-8265u 12GB Mx110 2gb ddr5 Windows 11 fresh install The problem is that Windows (10 and 11) Don't recognise headsets, they work but they show as speakers. Downloading the latest Intel driver 1-it uninstalls the current driver 2-restart pc 3-doesn't finish installing, shows an error BUT here is the weird part not doing step 3 everything works fine, they show as headsets I get the enhancements tab in audio settings until I restart that as and it reverts to old drivers Everything else is updated. Also it's not a headset problem first one was a moxom something, now I have a hyperx cloud

Recently, I got some a dual channel 16 gig kit to replace my (at the time) current single channel kit. I added it but, it wouldn’t completely boot, staying stuck on the ROG boot up screen. I added the original stick back and everything worked fine. Two weeks after the same boot issues started occurring again. I’ve left it off, removed the cmos battery, and reseated the gpu. I just resorted to buying another kit and the same issue is going on. I’ve checked bios and it is detecting the new ram. Like I said it loads on the ROG screen infinitely but every few boot ups, It will boot up to a black screen with an hour glass that switches to a standard mouse cursor. Nothing else happens after that. If anyone can help that’d be great. Windows 11 64bit i7-9700k 2080 Super 16gb 3200mhz 850watt platinum

Specs: 3060 ti Founders Edition (for now; from pre-built) i7 14700KF ASUS Rog Strix z790-F Wireless mobo 32 gb corsair vengenance 5200 ddr5 RAM (currently one RAM stick is in whilst troubleshooting) 2TB MX500 Crucial SATA SSD (from pre-built) Corsair 850x PSU (from pre-built) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guys (also posting here from Reddit as an completely stuck on what to do ) Over the past few days I have put together my first PC using some old parts from my pre-built build and others which are new. However, I've been experiencing issues. To start, my PC will POST when only one RAM stick is in. Both sticks work when they are in individually (one at a time) and in any mobo slot. Secondly, if I have one RAM stick in and boot my usb with the windows install, my PC will POST as normal with the ASUS logo appearing to go into BIOS. However, as the windows install comes up, I then get a blue blank screen and my PC turns off automatically about twenty seconds later. Sometimes, I have received three different error messages. The first two messages I have received is when I briefly see the windows install but get BSOD stating "PAGE\_FAULT IN NON\_PAGED AREA" and "Kmode exception not handled". The final message type I have received is a black screen with a "Windows boot manager" heading stating that the "digital signature for this file couldn't be verified. Status: 0xc0000428". Would anyone happen to know what issue I may be facing? At this point, I'm not entirely sure what the root cause to all these issues are; my gut says it's either a CPU (memory controller/cooler is too tight) or mobo issue. Would greatly appreciate any assistance, and apologies for the long post. Starting to go insane not knowing what could be causing this
