Ok, here is my problem. I got a used Gigabyte HD 7870 http://www.gigabyte.us/Graphics-Card/GV-R787OC-2GD#ov and want to upgrade my sisters PC with it. The card works just fine in my own system but in her's I just get a mobo post code for no display signal. She currently has a Medion GTX 550 ti pulled from a prebuilt PC and it works fine. Her specs are: i5 2500k MSI Z77A-GD65 https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z77AGD65.html 6GB noname 1333mhz RAM from the same prebuilt PC Medion GTX 550 ti Be quiet Pure Power 10 500w CM https://www.bequiet.com/de/powersupply/934 some harddrive with Windows 10 When I put the 7870 in her PC and start it up everything that glows spins or rattles, starts to glow, spin and rattle but I just get the Code 97 from the mobo and I don't get a displaysignal, when I try plugging the display cable into the mobo to check if it goes for the iGPU, nothing either. I've checked for proper placement in the pcie slot, checked power cables, display cables, deleted everything Nvidia using DDU and I still get nothing and I don't really know what to do beyond this. If anyone has dealt with this card, mobo or problem before or has any insight or solution for this I would be glad to hear it, thank you for your time Just in case it matters, the monitors are plugged in via HDMI and VGA on the Nvidia, the 7870 doesn't have VGA so I'm using a VGA-miniDP adapter.

Hello guys, I am having weird issues with my new setup, made up of the following: * Gigabyte AB350 Gaming * Ryzen 5 1600 * 700W PSU * GeForce 460 (old) * 8G DDR4 UDIMM * 500GB SSD (old) * 500GB HDD (old) The issues started right after the first successfull startup. I realized I had forgotten to add the speakers, which turned out to indefinitely beep after starting. This issue was successfully resolved by updating the BIOS to the most recent version; Then the real issues began though. I realised that most of the times I try to start up the computer, it would not do so. Either it would not even pass POST (no beep whatsoever), sometimes it would beep once, then show a black screen. Then again sometimes it would beep, show the POST screen and then crash during boot. Sometimes it would not power the keyboard or the mouse, sometimes if those work it wouldn't let me access the BIOS (freezing effectively). From my current point of view there is no correlation other than the hardware, and I cannot make out a reason except faulty hardware. The funny thing however is, that sometimes it will start up and boot the system, which I then can use indefinitely (i.e. for 5 hours straight now, only built the rig today). What I did for troubleshooting is: * Power on with just MB, CPU and RAM, same issues * Look for settings in BIOS possibly corrupting * Update BIOS * Reset CMOS by shorting the jumpers * Reset the components (RAM, GPU) Since I sometimes can successfully boot the rig, I don't think it is incompatibility between RAM/ CPU, the RAM is listed as compatible in a list published by gigabyte. The graphics card worked in my old computer, which had issues with randomly turning off and (unrelated because occurred with another graphics card and components) bluescreens, so it MAY be the graphics card, which I doubt though. I cannot test this right now though, since the ryzen does not offer an igpu. I currently ordered a replacement for the Mainboard, because I suspect it to be faulty, but I am still trying to resolve this issue or at least identify the faulty part. Has anyone encountered this issue, or does anyone have any tips for me? I am getting pretty disappointed RN. Thanks in advance.

Hello! A little bit further down you can find my current build, my wishlist (you can make recommendations if you want) and the reason why I want to upgrade. All prices are the cheapest ones that I could find in germany. Currently 1€ is worth 1.16USD. Current build: (Or click here for a detailed pcpartpicker-list) And here's my wishlist: (You can tell me if something is too expensive, not worth buying or just wrong) Here's the reason why I want to upgrade and how much money I can spend: Feel free to correct any mistakes, give any sort of recommendations and tips! Thank you very much in advance for any reply!

Hello Guys, so I need a little help with something I'm working on... I'm fairly new to the whole build your own PC world and didn't build a whole lot of systems. Also, english is not my native language, but I'll try to explain my problem as clear as possible. I got the opportunity to buy an old Lenovo ThinkCentre M82 for only 50€ from the firm my father's working at, the only problem was that the case was somewhat messed up. So the plan was to simply stuff everything from the ThinkStation into a new case, throw in a gtx750 I have laying around from my old PC and build a nice looking, budget gaming pc. I thought it would be easy and bought a Zalman T3 Mini M-ATX Tower without thinking about it too much... I ran into a few problems I could handle but there is one thing I need some help with... basically I have no Idea how to connect the Intel HD Audio connector that comes from the front panel to the mainboard. The front audio from the lenovo panel has a different connector and also the pins on the mainboard do not fit. Here are some images to better demonstrate what I'm trying to explain: http://imgur.com/a/Cse4p The front audi is the only thing not working currently and it would be really nice if I could fix it somehow.... so does anyone have an idea how it could work?

Hello! Currently I'm rocking an i5 6500 and a micro atx mainboard, but I am going to upgrade in ~six months to something like a Ryzen 5 1600 and maybe few months later install a custom loop. Since I'll switch the platform anyways, my mobo has to go. So in terms of case choice everything is possible, but it shouldn't be too expensive since saving money always is a good thing when saving with pocket money... Can anyone recommend a case?

Hey, today I updated to windows 10 Creators Fall Update. I though I take the opportunity to update my bios. After installing I now get the Q-Code d0 which means "CPU Initialisation-Error". The CPU worked flawlessly before. Also sometimes I get into the bios and can access all settings, but after saving and resetting the error reoccures. I also cleard the cmos. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, i saw a really cheap 22 core processor on ebay. (Xeon E7-8880 v4 ) The socket for the cpu is FCLGA2011 so i was wondering which mainboards will fit. I saw some really expensive dual socket board online but I'm searching for a quite cheap board (I heard you can maybe use normal 2011 boards). It would be awsome if someone could help me to find a matching board. Thanks in advance Julian

Hey Guys, since two days one of my CPU Cores is getting really hot it always jumps to 100°C but all the others stay at a cool 50°C. This Problem occurred after i delidded my CPU. If you are wondering i had to delid my CPU because my CPU (all Cores) always maxed out at around 95°C. The Problem occurs in the most random moments, for example when i open google chrome it instantly jumps to 100°C and back down to 60°C. I think the problem is my mainboard but i don't have another one to test it. Im planning on buying another one because the one i have right now is not the one intended to buy this one :D. I have an I7 6700k and as a mainboard i have the ASUS Z170-K. Hope you guys can help you. TechNICKer

upgrade 7700k or 7740X - Future Upgrade-Ability
Ferrari posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi! I need help by choosing the best system: System 1 7700k CPU Z270 mainboard ~$480 System 2 7740X CPU X299 mainboard ~$580 difference $100. The question: What system should I buy? For InGame-performance, these systems are almost identical (FPS, that's the point here). So at first it does not make sense to spend $100 for "nothing". But with the X299 platform I have the opportunity to upgrade to an 8-Core CPU in the future, once this is actually necessary (ratio as current 2C vs 4C). When this 8C-era has arrived, there will be an Intel 8C for ~$350 for sure and in all likelihood compatible for the just released X299 platform, which I then don't have to upgrade! This path seems to me even more useful, if also more expensive, than now buying an 8C (Ryzen 7 1700), which has currently less power than the 7740X or a future 8C. Lookin' forward to some answers! -
H, Since i upgrade my case to a BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 my PC shuts down itself and reboots without any bluescreen or signs of failure also in the event viewer there isnt anything who cause the shitdown. The thing is i can run benchmarks as Prime95 or Furmark or whatever benchmark without a problem but if i start a game the PC will shut down and reboot sometimes it can take 5 minutes and sometimes it can take 2 hours. I changed my CPU and CPU cooler. I also did a fresh install of Windows 10. I got this problem a while ago and i changed my motherboard and cpu and the problem was gone since now when im changed my case, i also changed my PSU back then but it didnt bring any change to the restart. My Cpu temp under load is between 45 and 60 degree celsius and my GPU is arround 82 celsius. I also checkem my harddrives and did a BIOS update, my RAM looks okay to the testing with MEMTEST. Specs: I7-6700KASUS Z170-ANZXT Kraken x52RAM 16GB Corsair VengancePSU EVGA 850 P2 GTX 1080 FEHDD Seagate 1TB2x Samsung SSD 840 PRO 256GBSasmung SSD 850 EVO 120 GB Edit: I run Furmar and Prime95 at the same time for about a half an our without any problem. The PSU Voltages were: 12V:...12.384, 5V:....5.000, 3.3V:.... 3.344V. So i belive it wont be the PSU who causing troubles.

Hey, I own 4 8GB Sticks of Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400Mhz (CMK16GX4M2A2400C14) and a new R7 1700X and want to use all of my RAM. Since my current Asus PRIME B350-PLUS only supports 2 8GB RAM Stick of my RAM im looking for a new mainboard. I tried everything to get all 4 sticks working but, everything failed. Even Asus cant help me out to fix this. The board detects all 4 sticks but only 16GB are usable. the other 16GB stay "reserved for hardware". Here are some photos, that may help to clarify my problem. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8b1qay44ttljq2n/AABlCT7k2UO8rfLhbyNNxD_ka?dl=0 I hope you can help me to figure something out. Greetings from Germany, Fredyy90

Hello! I have a problem guys and I need your advice. I really did a shitty move. I wanted to clean my PC and when I wanted to take my GPU out i have destroyed a capacitor (stupid mobo manufacturers, who puts high capacitor near pcie? -.-) Soo. I bought capacitors and tried to swap them. It's not possible with my current equpment. My soldeing device is to weak (~10 - 15W) and it's not possible to solder Tin with other metals. No go here. My current rig is i7-3770k / Asrock Z77 EXtreme 4 / 8GB DDR3 2400MHz / GTX 1080 The worst thing is that i bought new 'old' CPU (i7 3770k) in april and sold i5 2500k because of CPU bottlenecks with 1080. And i just bought new ram. Upgraded from 1600MHz to 2400MHz. It's such a waste So I have to options: New mobo. It's hard to find mobo from Sandy/Ivy. THere are some on ebay but I will just not pay 150 Euros for guy with 2 or 3 feeback - high risk of scam and zero warranty that it works. Second option would be to sell CPU/damaged mobo / memory (trident z is so nice ) / h80i aio and invest in new CPU/MOBO/RAM. What to buy? Again i5? Isn't i5 just too low for 1080? Or maybe Ryzen 5 1600? Or should i go for 1700? Or buy i7 7700k and good aio? Wht would you do? Buy just mainboard or whole combo (cpu + ram + mobo)???

hi guys, i have bought almost everything except for the cpu and mobo... what im currently looking at: ryzen? i5 6600k or i7 6700k? or wait for kabylake? will kabylake make skylake cpus cheaper? and i havent found any motherboards yet, too many to choose from, you may suggest me a few

Whenever I try to install Windows 10 on my SSD, my PC crashes randomly somewehere in the process. Sometimes even before the installation, sometimes right in the process and sometimes just when its about to finish. I tried a lot to resolve this issue, the spec-list can be found below: installed the newest BIOS-version (7B17vA5) To exclude the installation media as a source of malfunction: generated a new version of the USB-installer using the Windows Media Creation Tool tried a different USB used both USB after another in each USB-slot (3.1 Gen2, 3.1 Gen1, and 2.0) To exclude wrong installation of the components: reseated CPU&RAM To exclude mass storage: put my M.2 NVMe in the other slot tried a SATA HDD instead To exclude Windows as a source of failure: tried to install Ubuntu Bionic beaver However, the issue still persist. When I am booting a live Linux, the system just boots fine and I can even stresstest it without failing. SPECLIST: i5 9600k beqeuit! Hey Guys, I am looking into upgrading my rig with a new Ryzen 3xxx CPU, just like many of you are I will be most likely buying the 3700X and I would like to get the most out of PBO. Currently I am looking at the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, but I am not sure if the VRMs are good enough to handle the 8-Core overclocked. If they aren't, would the X470 GPC be a better choice? Do you have some sleek alternatives? Thank you guys!

(I have an old thread with another Problem from the same PC(except the CPU), so you can find more background to the PC here) So I've build my first custom rig and, after getting a new CPU because the old one seemed broken, I powered it up. Everything seemed to go well for the first 10-15 seconds, the fans started spinning, lights were on etc. But then the debug-light 1(CPU) blinked and the PC shut itself down. The screen doesn't show anything, USB ports do not output power. After a few seconds the PC tries to boot again, with the same result. This cycle seems to continue indefinetly. My troubelshooting steps were: Pluging the PSU in and out of everything Reseating CPU, RAM, GPU and SSD Unplugging every not-necessary conection from Motherboard and PSU Replugging everything I could I think it might have something to do with the PSU because I had to plug it in and out many times during my first problem, and it makes some unsetteling electrical sounds if I plug it in. They aren't that noticeable and I can't tell I they were there from the begining, maybe I just didn't notice them. Hello guys, I currently have a Core i7 7700, 16 GB DDR4 RAM (2166) and an RTX 2070 Super my Mainboard is an MSI Gaming M3 (H170 Chipset) My system is handling everything great including Games and Music Production as I use Ableton Live to produce music and it needs lots of CPU power, now the thing here is that I made some research about the 9 series Intel CPUs and made some comparison, I'll get some performance boost but it does not justify the $600+ that I'll be spending, do you think I should wait for the 10 nm Intel CPUs?

AS the title says, i was thinking on using 2 Xeon E5-4650 on a supermicro X9DRI-LN4F+ motherboardThe question is, do Quad Socket CPUs work on a Dual Socket mainboard?I dont seem to find any real information on that matter wether it works or not.
