So I have a laptop with one working video out, mDP, I want to output to multiple HDMI monitors at the same time. I have found this from Amazon, http://a.co/ieKjI2q. Will this extend the monitors that my GTX 1070 can drive? The mDP out on my laptop is 1.2 at least. I want to be able to output to a 2560x1600 and a 1920x1080 monitor.

Hey guys I working on building a new PC desk and one of the things I want to do is build a USB hub into the desk. I need something that can put full power to every port. I have 3 power hungry Razer Peripherals and would like to be able to charge phones and tablets on the other port all at the same time. Need at least 5 ports or more. Need to send full power to all ports, even if all are in use. USB 3.0 or 3.1 (It can be some combinations of the of 2 3.0 3.1) Suggestions? Looking for real world experience. I find that packages and spec sometimes lie.

Hello all, I would like to create a thunderbolt 3 docking station of sorts that both my 15in Macbook Pro and wife's 13in Macbook Pro (no touchbar) could use, but I'm having difficulty figuring out something user friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Essentially, I would like to have three 4k monitors, power, and several USB devices all connect with two thunderbolt 3 plugs. I only have my laptop, a mouse, USB microphone, and USB MIDI keyboard so far, so I'm pretty much starting from scratch here. Budget is about $2,000. Use will be productivity focused with some very light gaming (Civ, Worms, Minecraft), so 60Hz is fine. 27in, VESA mounting, and Freesync are also desired if possible. From my research, it looks like a single thunderbolt 3 cable can run up to 2 4k displays at 60Hz. Thus, my general plan is to dedicate one thunderbolt cable to two displays and the other to the third display and an external backup drive. Then I'd sprinkle my less data intensive USB devices throughout using either built in USB ports on the displays or a USB hub if necessary. Does that make sense? A dock like the vertical Hengedock is attractive to get rid of cable clutter and transform it into a truly single plug and play solution. Although this model will not fit both Macbook sizes. The Dell UltraSharp 27 4K display really caught my eye. (27in, 4k, IPS, HDR, VESA, bezel-less for $500!) However, they don't have thunderbolt 3 inputs. There exist some thunderbolt 3 to dual displayport adapters, however I'm not sure if they would A) charge my laptop from the display and B) limit USB performance of devices attached to the monitors' USB ports. There doesn't seem to be any thunderbolt 3 monitors on the market right now that support daisy chaining and full 87 Watt charging, though both should be possible. I would like whatever accessories I buy to last 10 years since both 4k and thunderbolt 3 are forward-looking. The correct solution may be to wait a year or two until the right products come on the market. Any input would be great! Is my general thought process correct? Am I way too soon to be attempting this type of setup? How should I distribute my USB devices? Are there any products you know of that would suit my needs? Would a thunderbolt 3 dock or an external graphics card enclosure be worth the high prices? Could I purchase one monitor now and complete the full setup later? What is the best VESA mount to use? P.S. If you feel inclined to hate on my laptop choice, just read Macbook Pro as Razerblade Stealth

Hey guys, I'm looking for a USB hub that can connect to my PC that looks like the image below. One that charges (like that one), but one that can plug into the PC so I can use my USBs and connect my phone to the PC etc. Is there one around? I've been having a look but can't seem to find any. Thanks

My motherboard only has 1 sysfan header, so I'm forced to use a fan hub, since I want to add 2 or more fans (no controller, I have no front bays and dont want to use dials, want to control from bios). And I want to be able to control them all from the bios, which I would ideally do, by controlling the hub, attached to the pwn header. If I got a pwm fan hub, could I hook my 3pin fans to it and they would be regulated by the hub? I'm just trying to find a solution and save a couple bucks, also it seems weird to me that most fans that are bought on amazon or in general are non-pwm, while many people must use them with a hub or controller.

Hi there everyone! TLDR: I would love (if need be to start) a new RGB Discussion Topic. I am new here but have followed LTT for a while. So short story long (sorry but my handle is an IRL nickname, I didn't get it by chance) I own a small PC repair and service store in Copenhagen Denmark. Since taking it over from my much older cousin who retired I have been following LMG on youtube to get myself back to snuff in terms of current knowledge. I have played around with PCs since I was a spoiled 10-year-old so I know "a few things" and can fix most common problems but I by no means know it all. My Wife and I run the store together and we are both gamers (but have no time, yay small business) and we are discussing making some upgrades to our own systems if just to showcase what we can do. However I have hit a snag and discovered I have made some incorrect assumptions based on how easy it is to light up a PC with RGB. Now we have a case, a mobo in mind, some rgb fans and we want to get it all sync'd up. But finding easily accessible information on how RGB "works" together seems to be difficult. SO! I am hoping we could add a topic to this forum where we can try to gather and pool an extensive amount of knowledge of the basic and fundemental workings of RGB hardware and software. Basically I think knowledge should be open source and not just be in the hands of those who have tried. Is that something that you, we, they can get behind? I am trying to ask politely cause I can't find any hits for "RGB Discussion" and whlie there are posts about RGB they all seem to be very specific.

OK, so i have this great idea for a way to control my room. I have a harry potter remote control wand (Link at the bottom) and i want to try and use it to control my philips hue lights. My idea is beucase the wand works with IR i point the wand at the Logitech harmony hub and it blasts out a singal to the philips hue bridge and thus my lights turn on. Is this a crazy idea or would it work Harry Potter Wand (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FXMDRZK/ref=asc_df_B00FXMDRZK5193336/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=395033&creativeASIN=B00FXMDRZK&linkCode=df0&hvadid=194024095585&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5782725677349068604&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012089&hvtargid=pla-314762759648)

So i'm getting 7 RGB fans and in going to have 2 RGB controllers, how will that work? do you have to control them individual in the software? And can i just use one controller and use RGB cable splitters? Here are the fans: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0731KRCTX/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 And the other one in total of 7: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XJ2LCPG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

I hate to add another thread about USB hubs but my question is a little different. My main desire for a hub is to not clutter my tower with adapters (I.e. Bluetooth, Wacom, Logitech, Xbox, and any more I may need in the future). I dont think performance will change, but would I be better off getting a 4+ port usb pcie hub like this or something directly into the Mobo header like this? Also for adapters like the ones mentioned above does usb 3.0 matter?

Hey guys! I have a simple question: Can I use a HUB to charge my phone and to connect it to a 1080p @30Hz screen at the same time? And can you suggest a nice hub under 30$ (it needs to be able to ship to Hungary) *My phone has a Micro USB B, not C!* Thanks

Hello everyone, I plan to buy a MacBook (please don’t judge the brand, I just prefer macOS for everything except gaming) and I am therefore looking for a USB-c Dongle/hub. I want at least one type A port, as well as one HDMI port. Ethernet and USB-c Pass through are a plus, but not needed. My problem is that I am not able to find a dongle that supports 4K (or even 1440p) they all support max 30Hz, or 1080@60. Is it a limitation of USB 3.1 gen 1? or just cheap brands? And I know the thunderbolt 3 docks supports everything I want and more, but they all cost about 300€ and/or require external power

Hello guys, I recently bought this usb otg controller (https://www.amazon.de/GameSir-G3w-Gamecontroller-Controller-Playstation/dp/B019PSLC36/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497898563&sr=8-1&keywords=gamesir+g3w) for my galaxy note 3 to play some games and it works really well ... the only problem is that I cannot charge the phone while playing because the only usb port is taken up by the controller. So I thought that there might be a adapter to split the one micro usb to 2 female micro usb ports but I didn't find such a thing. Is there some way to charge the phone while using the controller for gaming ? Thanks already

Hi all, I'm working on a new documentary series about interior design. The theme of one of the episodes is about tech homes/rooms, garages, warehouse or just attics. The series is called Amazing on the Inside and it features 2 or 3 stories in per episode - we're looking at some completed projects but we'd also like to find at least one project that we could follow from the beginning until the end. So, if you guys know someone who already built or currently building their dream setup, or maybe refurbishing their living room, attic, garage etc. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH!

Hi! I recently bought the LG 34UC88, and what a great monitor. But today i am experiencing trouble with the usb hub function. I have connected my macbook pro with a hdmi cable, and a usb type a/b cable for the usb hub function to work. The problem is that usb ports on my monitor does detect computer mouse/keyboard, but it doesn't detect external harddrives, usb flash drives etc. It seems like the ports doesn't provide enough power. Does anybody know whats wrong with it? is there a fix to it??

Hello Hello, I have an Alienware 15 r2 and when I get home I will like to connect all my extra peripherals with only 1 connector (thunderbolt 3 USB-C). So... I need a usb-c hub with at least 3 USBs type A (usb 2.0 will be fine, I dont need 3.0), a hdmi (1080p monitor) and an audio jack. I searched the amazon (uk) but nothing with exactly this configuration... mostly of the hubs dont have a jack connector... Do you guys know any ?

So hello i recently bought PC componets and studied almost everything about building(and already built one before). But my concern is that in my new case there is PWM hub allowing up to 5 fans ... I already have 3 connected(case fans) and my question is if i can connect another 2 radiator fans and still it all can be all powered by CPU_FAN header on motherboard ad wont cause any damage to my MOBO. Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro(front 200mm fan exchanged for 2x 140 mm fan (sp140) MOBO: MSi z170a gaming pro carbon PSU: evga supernova 750 g2

Hi guys! As far as I know, PWM and RGB "cables" are the same. I want to spice up my build with a bit of RGB action, and because I do not want to overload anything and for upgradeability I want to get a hub for PWM and my RGB headers. I currently use DEEPCOOL fans (normal, not argb) and I do not need a controller, just a hub. Now I was wondering if there is a difference between a PWM and RGB (12V) hub. And if you had a recommendation? Thanks in advance ^^
