Hey guys, I'm currently using an i5-4590 processor with 1333mhz kingmax ram (3x8gb) and an Asus GTX 1060 6GB. Is it possible that during gaming i get lower FPSes because of the cpu and ram? Also, i want to upgrade my PC to DDR4, and i'm thinking between i5-8600 and ryzen 7 2700x (it's around the same cost where i live). Having 2 displays i usually netflix/youtube/facebook during my gaming sessions, and i dont know if i could get better performance with the AMD. Please help, also please suggest ram for the CPU you advise. Thanks in advance, Neugo

Hi all, So I just bought a new 1440p monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate (Samsung C27JG50) and I am currently pairing this with a GTX 1060 6GB (will be upgraded in the future). So far everything is running very smoothly except for this issue I've seen with The Witcher 3. For some reason there is slight artifacting on the left side of the screen. It was very bad in the beginning but then I switched HDMI cables with the one that came with the monitor and it became much less. However there is still a bit there, but in terms of FPS and temperatures I am doing fine. I haven't overclocked it (set the Power limit too 111%) but I have tried overclocking and underclocking the card. I have also tried setting the display to 120Hz and 60Hz, but not change. I am getting around 70fps with the settings on medium. I have not seen the issue on CS:GO (where I actually hit 144fps) and F1 2017 (where I get around 60fps). I'm not quite sure how to explain what the artifacting looks like, but it's yellowish and like a rectangular shape or a line. The artifacting I got from the HDMI cable was red lines, but those are no longer present. Could it be that I need to use a DisplayPort instead of an HDMI cable (I don't have one so can't really test it)? Are there any other things I could try? Unfortunately I won't be able to test it until tomorrow but I would appreciate any input Cheers

Hi, I'm currently using a desktop with Intel i5-2300, GTX 1060 6GB and 8GB of ram and I was wondering whether my CPU is bottlenecking games like Final Fantasy 15, Assassin Creed Syndicate, Assassin Creed Origins, World of Tanks, World of Warships, Frostpunk, Witcher 3 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Just curious if my CPU is a severe bottleneck or a minor one because I was thinking about upgrading it but I'm not too sure if the performance increase is worth the money, looking forward to some replies hehehe :)

Hi I'm buying a used GPU in the next couple weeks and I was wondering if I should get the GTX 1060 3gb or 6gb. The performance boost seems pretty good but the price is my issue. I can get a GTX 1060 3gb for $90 or a GTX 1060 6gb for $135. Is it worth $45? I only have about $95 right now so do you think it would be a better idea to buy now for a 3gb card or wait a month or so for a 6gb variant? Thanks in advance!

FPS drops in every single one of my games after the september windows 10 update. I have a computer built with a GTX1060 6gb, Intel i5-7500, a 750watt PSU and a 144hz main screen (if this even matters)My issues started about two weeks ago, when i got the September 2018 Windows 10 update. Before this date, my computer was getting around 130 - 144fps, (capped, but i have tested, it could easily get more) in almost every game. Now, it is struggling to get 70fps in games that previously ran well. Also, my CPU and GPU usage (after the windows update) spiked to a 100% every time i opened a game.I have tried everything in the book, scanned for malware, scanned for rootkits, cleaned my fans' with compressed air, reinstalled my drivers, reinstalled windows, fiddled with the power options/power consumption. All of this, to absolutely no avail. I am at a complete loss as to what i could do, since a GPU and CPU doesn't just ''break'' overnight. If anybody has any input as to how i could fix this terrible situation, (besides the usual ''just wait for a windows update''), i would be grateful.

Hey guys, I'm brand new around here and not too sure how this is done but I'm looking for advice regarding a new GPU I'm looking to buy. Here's the situation, I haven't upgraded my PC in a while and I'm looking to buy the ASUS Dual series GTX 1060 OC edition 3GB GPU ( https://www.asus.com/za/Graphics-Cards/DUAL-GTX1060-O3G/ ). I am currently using a SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB. The problem is I'm using an AMD A8 5600K CPU running at 3.6GHz which will obviously bottleneck the performance of the card. Overclocking the CPU is an option as I have a corsair watercooler (I won it in a competition) but I have never done it before. I want to know if it is worth me upgrading the GPU and if I'll see a performance boost worth my money if I do? Thanks in advanced!

Hello! I'm new here and not sure how many things work on a forum site in general but I do have a problem I am seeking help on. I have a GTX 1060 6GB that my cousin gave to me because his psu wasn't powerful enough to power it (250w...I don't know what he was thinking). Any-who, I plug it into my board and it does something odd. The backlight on the monitor comes on but no image. Then after some messing around with it seating in the slot better it started to display finally. After about 3 hours of installing and fighting the windows 10 trying to auto install drivers I gave up. Code 43 over and over and over. But then out of the blue on my last attempt it installs successfully. The split second i start into the haven benchmark though It "magically" shoots different colors for every pixel across the screen flickering with multiple different lines and then shuts down. Since i'm on such a tight budget I decide "Well, I got it for free so time for the oven it is". Then it goes back to the backlight no display. At this point i just flat out gave up. Put it back into the box sat it on my shelf and walked away. Now that we are about 6 months later I have a completely different rig using my old graphics card. Ryzen 2600, x470 msi gaming plus, 8gb 3200 mhz corsair vengeance lpx, AMD R9 270x 4GB OC from Sapphire, and a 750Ws Hive from Rosewill. I decided id give it another shot before sinking about 1200 in that console frames ray tracing performance RTX 2080ti. I stuck the 1060 in the PCIE x8 slot and it managed to produce an image. So i wiped my computer clean of any old AMD and Nvida drivers and restarted my computer making sure my display cable was hooked up to the 1060. It booted up and now is refusing to work with any driver from asus website or nvidas website. Just keeps saying code 43 and once or twice code 31. Im not sure maybe you guys could figure out what is wrong with this card. Thanks!

Hey there mates I am currently facing the problem of only being able to boot in Safe Mode, as when I attempt to normal boot, screen shows for 1 sec, turns black, I can randomly see the desktop for 1 sec some times, can see the cursor sometimes as well, but I can not proceed to any action, since the screen is black. I have tried uninstalling and installing drivers 3 times, formatted, no overclock whatsoever. How can I fix this without having to look for IT help? (only because I do not have other parts I can test) If I can not, how can I play games in safe mode until I can give the PC to an IT? Huge thank you to anyone that helps. Thank you again to anyone that helps.

Hi guys, Need your advise. I'm planning to upgrade my Sapphire 7970 3GB. I'm still gonna keep my 1080p monitor so I don't need that big of an upgrade. I'm between the RX 580 8GB and the GTX 1060 6GB. Prices in amazon (europe) are almost the same, with the 1060 being cheaper most of the times(20-40 euros cheaper). The benchmarks that i see online are pretty much head to head between the 2 so no help there. Is the extra 2GB of the 580 going to help in the near future? Is the extra cost worth it? My current specs: i5-4670(non k) 8gb 1600mhz RAM Sapphire HD7970 3GB Dual X EVGA 750w P2 Platinum SSD & HDD. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks!

I've been messing around with overclock settings on my gpu. It's a gtx1060 3gb. It is definitely stable (I did some benchmarks and played Assassins Creed Origins for a bit since I set the overclock), I just want to know if my settings will be detrimental to the life of my gpu. Here's a pic of my afterburner settings and an impressive userbenchmark I got on it. I just feel a little uneasy with it performing "way over expectations" lol

Hey all! I recently bought a used budget gaming rig. It's got a gtx1060 3gb, Pentium G4600, 8gb DDR4 ram, 275gb SSD + 1tb HDD. I definitely think my CPU is bottle-necking performance in AAA games, so I think it should be my first thing to upgrade. The mobo only supports 6th & 7th gen CPUs, so what would be a good one to pair with my 1060 3gb? maybe an i5 7600k?

hello to every tech lover out here ! i'm a quiet and peacefull web designer/ video editor in France. i say that because today is the day that i stop being quiet and patient, because as much as i am, i have limits. never buy the surface book line ( 2nd generation ) if you plan of doing graphics intensive work. the fact is that, as bizarre as it can be… the gpu goes insane when connected to an external monitor via usb c to displayport, and lose so much perfs that it can't even get past a gtx 960m performance and goes lower than that ! i went and tested in details 3 surface book 15 and collected the results of a current YouTube friend "OWNORDISOWN" to have a larger idea of what the f*** is going on !, results are very bad... Microsoft services in France are the worst you can get , they take you for a marble and solve Nothing, they just know how to reinstall drivers, look at the task manager (even when you say that there is no task/processing errors or shady .exe running and wrecking performances ) look if you have any update then say "your unit must be defective" ….. and that's not the worst part ! i went to contact them because i knew the surface line have a problem, but can you Believe it ? they can giggle at you went you tell them you tested on a pethora of devices and have results from all over the world see the link bellow https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfbook2-surfdrivers/surface-book-2-15-1t-connect-to-monitor-for-gaming/b6119f0c-d4a2-4169-8c3e-68845f7709ff In a first time, i would like some feedback : some of you guys that own a surface book 15" or 13" please do this test if you have time and passion to spare : plug a displayport monitor to the usb c of the surface, select the external display as master display, kick the surface in max perfs and run any type of game you want or really intensive gpu sofware for 10 min or more and post the results here ! Be sure the gpu is giving it its best by setting the nvidia control pannel for the app you will be running into " prefer max performances" you can run afterburner or any other gpu setting fiddler you have, and look at the frequencies of both Vram and core clock….take screen shots, videos, GIF, anything that show the result of the test so we can look deeper into this sh** to take a firt look here's mine (see pictures i linked) any comment is good as long as it doesn't state anything bellow: - changing device once again - install drivers for GTX - change app - change cable - use an other PSU or disabling performance mode (i tryed and the gpu went to 94°c) because of the fan curve being slow as heck ( hello mac settings in a window machine ) - OMG UR GPU MUST BE OVERHEATING WDFBBQ, nope my gpu stand as a max of 78 °c when the card is pushing its full boost ( core at 1.8 ghz and vram at 4 ghz ) - trying to lock the frequencies via afterburner or other sofware ( tried that and it doesn't work ) have fun and a very large thank you at everyone who will take part in testing this. ps ( i know the pictures doesn't show the gpu load, because it took thos photos for "Microsoft service France" to show them it wasn't a overheating issue, but the load is at 100 % all the time)

Hi, I have decided to build a PC with the following configuration: Intel I5-8400: I haven't had a good experience with AMD on my last pc. MSI z370-A pro: I'm choosing z370 just in case if I want to change my CPU to an unlocked one. Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB founders edition: suits my budget NZXT H500: Choosing because of good reviews as it keeps GPU temperature low 2666 C15-16 RAM: Should I chooose any specific one? Corsair TXM 550watt: seems good enough to me Samsung lc24fg70: 1ms response time as well as 144hz I'll be using the pc for some gaming as well as some personal projects. I may run VMs on it. What do you think of this build? please share you views. Also, if possible could you suggest me alternate screen? I do not sit far away from screen, 1920*1080 resolution on a 24" screen looks good to me. Also, If I decide that I won't be using an unlocked CPU, which motherboard would be good? Does gaming variation of motherboards have any advantage? In my area temperature goes as high as 45-48 degrees in summer. Should air cooler be sufficient or should I invest in a liquid cooler? Thanks

My computer recently started making a weird noise. It seems to be coming from the graphics card. It's intermittent and occurs regardless of load. Video of the noise: It's a gtx1060sc. It's the single fan EVGA model. What could be causing this?

Hey guys, I'm going to study abroad (in Portugal) for the next 2 years. But I only have a desktop at the moment and I cannot bring it with me. I will bring my monitor (P2715Q) with me, though... So I was thinking to buy a laptop when I arrive in Europe. I will use the laptop for my classes (I'm studying Computer Engineering, btw) and for gaming. The perfect laptop would have: Intel i7 8th Gen CPU (i7 8750H) GTX 1060 A good IPS Display that cover most of the SRGB color space (I'm spoiled by my current monitor =P) Don't look "gamery" Between 1000 and 1300 EUR Decent durability and battery life are also nice Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time finding a laptop that checks all the boxes. Most laptops in that price range lacks a good display (Dell G3/G5/G7) or looks too "gamery" (Helios 300 and HP Omen). If I bump up the price to 1500 GBP (around 1780 EUR), I can grab the Zephyrus M (https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Zephyrus-GM501GM-EI005T-15-6-Inch-i7-8750H/dp/B07C7F5Q3Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1533677395&sr=8-1&keywords=zephyrus+m), which seems the best option, although I find a little pricey and a 144Hz GSync display is unnecessary. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

What fan curve should I have on my evga gtx 1060 6gb ssc? I have an overclock of 75mhz on the core and 300mhz on the memory. I want a fan curve that will give me good temps and it doesn’t have to be really silent since I have headphones on.

Hey, So I have a i5 4670K overclocked to 4.2GHz, a ASUS DUAL GTX1060 6GB OC Edition, 8GB DDR3 RAM Currently having 1 - 144Hz Monitor, 1 - 75Hz Everything is fine and I have enough fps while playing different games (More than 144 fps). I was wanting to get another 144Hz monitor because I really need another one. (Don't feel like explaining specific details lets say I'm self employed and I really need it for the stuff I do.) I own a acer gn246hl (144Hz - main monitor) and a acer gf246 (managed to get it on 75Hz). My 144Hz is on a DVI-D and the 75Hz is ona DP (144Hz doesnt have a dp only a DVI-D) Since my GTX doesnt have 2 DVI-D ports (like most dont) I found a good 144Hz monitor that uses a dp (asus vg248qe) so I'll have 1-144Hz on DVI-D, 1-75Hz on DP and 1-144Hz on DP I'm pretty sure everything will be fine for my job, but I don't know how much will my fps tank when I'm playing games on a 144Hz monitor and there is stuff like videos or twitch streams moving on both screens in the same time. All replays are really appreciated

So, recently this morning I have come across a rather strange issue (i swear its one thing after another with this pc). I was playing battlefield 1 with my speakers on, and I noticed a buzzing noise, I then turn down the volume and here a rather bothersome buzzing noise. I thought that it might have to do with my case/pc fans being a little dusty and I dusted everything, even made sure if there was a fan cord hitting anything to trigger that noise, but nothing. After I dusted it off, I gave the computer a rest. I was hoping it would fix the problem but its still the same problem. While im typing this topic, there is no noise. it only seems to happen when I play graphically intense games, everything does seem but I just wanna know exactly whats going on, before I actually wind up having to replace anything. My speculation is that there is something going on with my graphics card, but I just dont know whats going on (I swear this computer is gonna be the death of me). heres my specs just in case CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x Ram: Corsair vengeance lpx 3000 16gb ram (currently running at 2933 because i cant get it to go to 3000) GPU: MSI gtx 1060 6gb Storage: 3TB WD purple hardrive PSU: EVGA 650 80+ gold Monitor: MSI 1080p 144hz monitor
