So recently i noticed that the GTX 1060 price has gone down significantly. Should I upgrade from my GTX 970 to 1060? Or should I wait for a bit more and get a GTX 1660 instead? I mainly play GTA V, some Far Cry games and in the future I'll play Red Dead Redemption 2 and Hitman 2. My setup: I3 9100F 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 GTX 970 Corsair VS550

Hello everybody, a brief insight into my intentions: I want to path-through a second GPU into a VM. Therefore I bought a second GPU. My problem: When I have connected my main GPU to the power supply, my Manjaro Cinnamon boots normally. If I now connect the second GPU to power, my Manjaro doesn't boot anymore and gives me the following output: My System: OS: Manjaro Cinnamon 18.1.0 Kernel: 5.3.7-2 CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk Motherboard RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz SSD: WD Black SN750 NVMe 500 GB, 2x Sandisk 500GB SSD GPU1: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Armor OCV1 6GB GPU2: AMD RX 570 4GB PSU: Corsair RM650x

Hello, dear forum! First time here, as i were looking to build for my college pc, working on various software (3DSMAX , solidworks, CATIA, Keyshot, sketchup, adobe suite, microsoft virtual studio). Im also doing side job taking on photo and video editing (lightroom, ps, ai, vegas, premiere) Thus i'm just here all out asking various community about whether my build is enough for me. bear in mind that i've got budget constrain (598dollar usd to be precise) so far, my nost valued (and on budget ) spec was : ryzen 5 2600 ASROCK B450m pro 16GB DDR4 3000MHZ gtx 1060 6gb PNY SSD 240GB ssd Aigo PSU 550W 80+ Bronze Aigo Black tech mini/Segotep Prime M my question is: 1. will it be sufficient for handle all the software? 2. will stock wraith amd cooler come in bundle with the cpu will be enough to handle the 'heat'? 3. does gtx1060 can be rendered well on 3dsmax? i really wanted the rx580 but i researched that 3dsmax did not play well on radeon gpu. thank you in advance for those who replying to this!

No video when turning on PC, but it works after restarting
Vengarl posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hey everybody! I recently upgraded my PC and I have some weird issues that I never encountered on my previous dinosaur PC. My computer turns on, but the screen remains black or I get some green spots on my screen. Everything else seems to turn on with no issues in the background, I can hear the system sounds and autostartup stuff. So far holding the power button down and starting the system again seemed to fix it, but I really wanna know what causes this. Additionally, my windows is also acting strange sometimes, the mouse cursor lags and the audio is glitching, but same thing, a restart fixes it. At first I thought it was because of windows, so I switched to Windows 10 Pro, but nope, same thing. I'm using an Asus GTX1060 6GB dual OC which had been used in the old system for a year with no issues. The framerate in games is stable and the GPU runs at normal temperatures (70ish celsius max when playing for 1-2hours), I use the "OC mode" preset in Asus GPU Tweak II, so it's not really overclocked either. System specs: Ryzen 3700X MSI B450 Tomahawk 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz Asus GTX 1060 6GB Dual OC Corsar RM750X Noctua NH D14 Cooler What could the issue be? I haven't messed with anything in BIOS other than flash-upgrading it to the most recent version to support the Ryzen 7 when I got the motherboard. -
Looking to get a GTX1060 but i dont know were the best place to get one is.

Hi guys, My 1st post here actually ? So I'm building this new PC for mainly gaming, well VR gaming to be specific. And after doing a lot of research (Linus videos) i came up with this build since i don't exactly have a massive budget , If you guys have any suggestions on anything i should change or add that'll still stay with in my budget i really would appreciate it! I've Acer predator helios 300 PH 315-51. i5-8300H, gtx 1060, 16 gb RAM 2667MHz single channel. My GPU is not performing as it should be. I've managed to control the temperature using Throttle stop so i think there's no thermal throttling issue. My CPU clock speed won't go above 3406 MHz while gaming(as it should turbo boost up to 4 MHz). i think CPU is bottlenecking GPU and i Don't know what causing it. My GPU usage varies and hovers around 60 to 80 percent and even if it reaches 99% I don't get enough frames. I'm getting around 25-30 fps in Ghost recon Wildlands at ultra settings ( i should be getting around 55-60 fps at ultra settings). Even playing cs go I get around 90-150. My power mode is at best performance while playing the game. should i add another 16gig RAM, i wonder if that's going to solve it?

Can my GTX1060 run a 144hz display and a 4K display at the same time?

So, I am looking into getting a gaming laptop for myself. I did some reading and a quick search of local stores but it did not help as much as I had hoped. Ofcourse there will be other specs as well for my new laptop but the main question I have is which GPU will give me good investment for the next few years. Where I live, in the north of EU GTX 1050/1050 ti laptops are generally plentiful and under 1100€. Gtx 1060 start to appear at about 1100€, gtx1060 and gtx 1070 seem to be the most numerous configs at reasonable prices. Gtx 1070 start to appear at about 1500€ Rtx 2060 will come to play at about 2000€, although the lowest I found was 1600€ Lenovo y740 Rtx 2070 appear at about 2200€, lowest was 1900€ Lenovo y740, maybe it was a max-q config...? Gtx1650/1660ti are rare and at about 1300/1500€ Naturally there are discounts and special sales on some makes and models almost all the time so with good luck any price can be 100-400€ less than normally. I prefer to buy from locally due to need for scandinavian keyboard. I might get a work related trip to US so I might get one from there because usually they are cheaper but then I would have to buy stickers for keys which is a bit silly in a laptop of 1000+€ or $$. I don’t care about battery life, but I do care about weight because I will carry it with me alot. Thin and light would be good. Semi-professional look is also a plus, so no crazy led lights for me. Will gtx 1060/1070/1660ti give me a solid performance in the years ahead with high/very high/ultra graphics in 1080p/1440p? Up to now I have happily played games at 1080p@60hz. I don’t mind lowering some settings but overall they should be high at minimum. Or should I go for the rtx anyway? Mainly I am looking forward for the new Doom Eternal sequel so I am not in a terrible hurry to buy. -Nes

Found this while scrolling eBay trying to find a house that was both affordable and functional for a friend's birthday gift pc. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F173897787172 Came across this seemingly brilliant gem. From the item description it seems to be almost like a person/company selling off old stock or something, and it's coming from a specific place in the UK which Chinese sellers wouldn't normally use. However, they only accept PayPal transactions and something just feels... Off about it. Anyone care to give advice as to whether there's any chance this is worth the shot for the price?

Beside the mobo and cpu are parts that I had in storage and I just really wanted to try out the new AMD cpu. Because of the limitation of the Fractal Design Node 202 and therefor the cooling (height) I bought the Ryzen 5 2600. I did swap the noisy stock fan of the AMD cooler to a Noctua fan. Specs Case: Fractal Design Node 202 Mobo: Gigabyte B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU cooler: AMD heatsink with Noctua NF-A9 FLX RAM: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz SSD 1: Samsung 960 EVO NVME 250GB SSD 2: Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" 500GB Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB PSU: Corsair SF600 OS: W10H I had to cut some bits off so I could screw it in the heatsink. The case fits fine in my bag, which means I'll bring it along on holiday ;) On 6 with the stock cooler & fan, on 5 with the Noctua fan.

Hey guys! Lately I have been getting extreme drops in performance in all games after one day my CPU usage skyrocketed to 100% on the desktop. Before, CSGO on Ultra would easily get me over 240 FPS. Now, I hardly get 60-70 FPS when no player models are present, and when they are, i get an instant frop to 40 or - also as often - 30 FPS. Before this happened, it was still acting crazy and I would stilI get 100% ON THE DESKTOP. So I took my PC after to fix by warranty and they told me to get an SSD (yes I know I was stupid I had dual drive system). So I did get one, installed windows and CSGO on it, and yes I can launch games, its just -as mentioned above- extremely worse than before. Any idea what I should do? BTW the CPU is still the bottleneck and reaches 100% on a regular basis. Any idea what to do? The temps are definitely not the problem they are never over 40 degrees on any core.

Hi all. I've been having some problems with my GPU recently. I updated to the most recent drivers (419.67) and started getting some stuttering in-game. I went through a bunch of settings to try to fix it, but nothing ended up working so I used DDU to uninstall and then put on a fresh copy. This fixed the stuttering issue but brought with it another issue. When I try to run a game with G-Sync enabled, the FPS seems to be capped at 60 and movement feels very slow and sluggish. The game I've been testing with is War Thunder in Full Windowed mode. Turning off G-Sync or turning the G-Sync option to fullscreen only seems to let me play with uncapped FPS, which makes sense since then G-Sync would be disabled in this test and I'm pretty sure G-Sync is what's causing the issue. On a most likely unrelated note, GeForce Experience keeps telling me that a critical driver update is needed for Whisper Mode, despite the fact that I just reinstalled the drivers and clicking on the prompt does not give me a new driver to download. Some other things that could be of note: Xbox DVR is off, the Nvidia In-Game overlay is disabled, and power management is on Prefer Maximum Performance in the NVidia 3D settings. I'm pretty sure this is a GPU issue since I have a 6700HQ, 16GB of RAM, and have the game installed on my SSD and I don't think switching the G-Sync setting alone would create such a large bottleneck in any of the other areas, especially since it hasn't in the past. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. I was able to run the game uncapped in Full Windowed mode before with both Fast Sync and G-Sync on, and if possible I would like to get back to that point. Thanks in advance!

Hello guys ! I got an annoying and awful issue that my pc is stuttering and sometimes i got BSOD at startup, but for a few days this didnt happen. From time to time video just freezes for a second and audio is buzzing. It gets worse when i play videos, games or i stay on teamspeak. I usually have my processor oced, but i got it on stock clock speed and is the same thing. I memtested my ram, both sticks separately and everything seems good. I thought it could be my dedicated sound card, but i deleted its drivers and removed it and the issue was still there. I tried everything i could think of. I reinstalled windows and everything is up to date, drivers and so on. I used sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth. I checked temps of everything and nothing surpases 65C when i am playing and haviong this issue. I used latencymon software and this message appears but i dont know if it helps: "Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates." My BIOS is up to date too and i got every power option on maximum performance. My specs are: 600W PSU Assrock AB350 Pro4 mobo Ryzen 1600 GIGABYTE GTX 1060 3GB 2X8 corsair vengeance 2400 MHz CL16 HDD WD Black 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD) Western Digital Green for OS (windows 10 64bit)

Need help! I've been using an old laptop (acer 4743 13 m380) and thinking to get a new one as I've used this one for good 7 years (I'm actually impressed since it runs without significant errors, just upgrade on RAM to 8GB, 1 battery and 1 fan replacement.) Now with more demanding work needs, I think it is time to upgrade. I will use it on 2D-3D projects (maybe VR in the future), and tiny bit of non competitive gaming. So I think i7 8750H and GTX 1060 with 17 inch IPS would be great... I've researched a bit of MSI GP73 8RE and Asus FX705GM (leaning more to this for durability reasons), my budget is around these 2.... any other recommended laptops based on this? Also how important is USB-C to have in the future? Thanks and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Whenever I play games like fortnite the fps always seems to drop from 200+ fps to 80 fps when I am building or when I am in an environment where I am fighting someone this happens. I saw a benchmark video on fortnite using this graphics card (down below) and he uses a intel i5 7400 which is only 3.5 ghz, when I use an intel i7 3770k which is up to 3.9 ghz. Especially when I am gliding in the air my fps drops down to 60 fps when in the video it stays at 140 fps. I would like some feedback for why such an event is occurring? I also bought a new 144 hz monitor which may of had an influence on this drop as when I was using 60 hz it never dropped down to 80 fps. This monitor is the acer predator xb241h which has a g sync display and when I use g sync to match the monitors refresh rate it still drops down to 80 fps and is never consistently at 144 fps. I will gladly appreciatye any feedback or opinion to why this is happening.

I'm looking to replace my Asus 1060GTX 3Gb card and don't want to drop a huge amount of cash. The processor handles the loads fine but the VRAM I'm finding tends to get maxed out a lot while gaming or editing a video. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hello, I have been skulking around the forums looking for some help but i have finally decided on my final parts list. I would like some feedback to see if i didnt mess something up. Total price is €969.65 including shipping when i actually buy my parts. ! note : the ram i buy is a 2*8gb kit but i couldnt find that exact kit on partpicker so i took the 4*8gb for demonstration purposes. Issues / questions I can get a MSI GTX1060 6GB Gaming for exactly the same price as this RX580 so its hard to decide Certain PC assembly YT video's (from very popular YTers) tell me to update the motherboard UEFI once the build is complete and it starts. This is however an extremely risky maneuvre (since it could kill it if power falls out). Is this necessairy because i would rather avoid that if possible. If i run into issues when assembling it and get to the final stage where i have to take off the stock CPU cooler (with included thermal paste). Will i then have to buy additional thermal paste and removers or can i just stick it back on again? (i assume its the new thermal paste route) EDIT: i changed the RX580 for the GTX1060 mainly due to much lower power consumption and similar/identical performance

Want to update my PC. Bought the last setup in 2012, on recommendations from a guildmate. The system is CPU: Intel Xeon Processor E3-1270 Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT,Socket-1155 GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB PhysX CUDA This has given me good framerates on low graphic settings in as new games as Overwatch. I'm primarily looking at rx580 8gb or 1060 6gb and I'm worried about how the Xeon will hold up with a new GPU. I'd prefer not to upgrade my entire system, as my spare time for gaming will decrease in 1year ish. Any thoughts on this?
