I recently moved over to an H400i, got it on newegg for $100 seemed pretty cool, and it looks super nice, got it in white. Being the "Smart" version it comes with the little integrated fan controller. I have my front intake hooked up to a h100i v2 from Corsair and the other 3 is on one branch from the fan controller that comes with the case. When I start windows the CAM software then has to come up followed by automatically logging me in to the online feature of the software (allowing me to share this with my phone). While it does that it makes my 3 exhaust fans run at full speed (these are all ML120/ML140 fans so this is about 2400 RPM, very loud to have 3 of them doing it.) Having these run full speed is very annoying that it does that on start up. I have enough headers on my motherboard that I could bypass it I suppose but I want to use the feature that comes with the case. Is there any way to fix this or is this just how it has to be for the NZXT software?

Working on a new build that is using mostly Corsair LL series (120/140) fans and 3 generic'ish 50mm fans on the back mounted over the expansion slots. Am hoping to use a fan controller. I have 4 primary groupings for the fans: 2 LL140mm in front (filtered intake) 3 LL120mm on top for the Corsair cpu radiator (filtered intake) 3 50mm in back (unfiltered exhaust) 1 LL140mm in back (unfiltered exhaust) Id like to group these fans using pwm hubs for the 4 primary groups listed above but I am having troubles finding fan controllers/pwm hubs that are comparable. Does anyone have any recommendations?

So I went out and without thinking about it accidentally bought a whole bunch of 3 pin fans assuming they are 4 pin but instead of going through the trouble of returning all of them I was wondering if I'd still be able to control their speed through the motherboard I have an MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon I am really hoping I will still be able to control their speed.

Hey everyone, I recently switched cases. Everything went well, all the parts did fit in and I didn't manage to drop everything on the floor. Now I ran into a weird issue. Before switching, I was able to control all my fans (1 x 4-pin cpu, 3 x 3-pin case) in my bios. They were running at around 600-900 RPM. Now after switching cases no fan is reacting to changes in the bios, they keep running at ~1500 RPM. The only thing I changed about the setup is the case: Some sharkoon case to Fractal Define C, both without fan controlling And I changed my 4-pin CPU fan with one of the 3-pin case fans. I didn't change the slot on the MB, it's still on the same 4-pin slot as before. Reminder that all fans don't react, not just the one I changed. I tried updating the BIOS, doing different settings (custom, silent, perfomance etc) on every fan but that didn't help. I didn't switch around any fans or unplugged any yet. My MB: http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/Z87 Pro4/index.de.asp?cat=CPU Fans: 3xPure wings 2 120mm 1xFractal Case fan OS: Win 10

I have an old Sony Vaio VGC-RA830G, with a power supply model # DPS-400LB A, from Delta Electronics. The power supply died on the system, I did pick up a Insignia 550 Watt power supply (model: NS-PCW5508), however it's missing a 3 pin plug that plugs into the motherboard (motherboard is a model PTGO-VX Rev 1.04 or the O could be a D making it PTGD-VX Rev 1.04). The 3 pin plug is to the upper left of the 24 pin. The colors of the wires to the 3 pin are: Blue, Black & what looks to be a cream color. I searched Google to see what voltages each wire was to see if I can adapt it to a molex, etc. but couldn't find what the voltages are. Attempts to find a manual for the motherboard has come up empty except for finding out that Asus made the motherboard. I can only assume that the 3 pin is for the CPU fan next to the cooling tubes (as there's no fan above the CPU) and the case fans, but have yet to try the new power supply. Questions are: 1.) Does anyone know (or could help find) what the voltages are for the 3 pin? (from looking inside the power supply, the cream colored one has Fan-M, the Black has -GND and the Blue has Fan-C printed next to the solder points.) 2.) Also, where can I connect/adapt from to supply the power needed to this port? Thanks, John

Hello, My custom watercooled PC has been running louder than needed for the temperatures it runs at, and the BIOS on my Asus X370 Crosshair 6 Hero doesnt seem capable of allowing me to set the profiles below certain points. Hardware: Asus X370 Crosshair 6 Hero Ryzen 1700X at 3.95Ghz, peaks around 40C when gaming Asus 1080ti Strix at about 2Ghz, peaks at 43 during gaming 6x Corsair HD120 rgb fans on two fan splitter PCBs, PWM 2x Corsair ML120 attached via a Y adapter, PWM PrimoChill D5 pump with PWM Full custom loop with 2x 360mm rads in/out temp sensors. So based on the above temps, the fans/pump shouldnt need to be as loud as they currently are. Im also willing to raise temps a bit to reduce the noise. Is there any software that will reliably allow me to set much quieter curves? As mentioned, the BIOS wont let me set the fans below 40-50% depending on the header, and wont allow them to limit their max speed below 100%. Would that software allow me to have speeds based on the actual fluid temperature with the probes that I have in the loop, and connected to the mobo? Thank you!

Hello. Anyone else recenly had any struggles to get the ASUS AI SUITE 3 software to work? I remember my computer restarted once during two nights ago when I was aswell, ever since then, the software refuses to work. Curious if anyone has any success to get it working or having same trouble as me.

Does anyone have experience with SpeedFan not picking up any fans? It's reading temps just fine for me, but no fans are to be found. Did I miss a step somewhere being the newcomer I am or something?

Hey guys, My question is: There is a 4pin connector on my power supply which connects directly to the motherboard. What is it used for ? Can i control the fan speed of the fans that are connected to the power supply if I connect the 4pin to the motherboard ?

I've noticed my fans all run pretty low and I've been having some higher temps. I was wondering if there was any good free fan software out there and where I could get it.

Hi All! So for my first post I'm looking for some advice on a build I'm currently doing. I've been looking into fan control and I've been debating on where to plug them in. I was initially planning on plugging my fans into the fan controller on the NZXT H440 but I was skeptical from the Linus review where he said there is no control on the fan controller meaning the fans would either be off or on full. Furthermore, my motherboard came in the mail yesterday (Asus Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1) and I read that it has an in-BIOS fan controller. So I guess I need to decide whether to plug my fans into the H440's fan controller or into the Sabertooth. Thank you! Joren

Hey All. i got a Phanteks P400S case and it has fan control for 2 fans. The fan control fits a 3 pin connector but has only 2 pins in it. I would like to connect my new Noctua NF-P14 (two of them). The Noctua fans are 4 pin. So wanted to cut the plastic around the fan control connector so i can connect the noctua fans into the 2 pins . Will the fans work and have fan control?

Hello, I've been looking into a new motherboard recently. I currently own a Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7, generally a great motherboard, but lacking in any good or smooth fan control. Also for fans I have 5 Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC (3000 RPM). Asus seems like the best in terms of motherboard fan control, but I'm not sure weather the Asus Z170 Deluxe or SABERTOOTH Z170 S is better. I've watched a LinusTechTips video where Linus talks about how in Fan Xpert 3 with the Deluxe there's a feature where the fan speed transition is always smooth and doesn't change abruptly which I really like. The SABERTOOTH Z170 S doesn't have Fan Xpert 3 it has Thermal Radar 2, but does Thermal Radar 2 have those really nice cooling features too? Thanks for your time, guys! EDIT: The SABERTOOTH Z170 S also has a TUF ICe (a dedicated processor that monitors onboard temperature sensors and fan speeds for ultra-accurate cooling) will it make a difference?

Hey guys, something I've been trying to deal with omw and using manual solutions for is the fan control on my MSI/Corsair GPU. The fan on the board itself is controlled by MSI afterburner, and has a nice little fan curve, this however only really cools the VRAM. The fan header for the SP120 fan that's on the radiator is PWM and plugged into my motherboard. So far I've just used standard settings, either low medium or high speeds changed using ASUS AI suite 3 (Asus Z97M-PLUS Micro ATX) I've tried Corsair link 3 and even 4... but neither of these gave me the option to add the GPU temp to the Fan as the sensor. So that I could have my fans ramp up based on GPU temp. The only sensor they allowed me to use were the CPU and motherboard. Does anyone know of any software or workaround for linking my AiO fan to the GPU temp?

I have a Predator 240 and it seems to always be running at an average speed always keeping my Cpu nice and cool.... but its loud. Its constant hummin is starting to get to me and i was wondering whats the best software to control this coolers fan speed? I have it hooked into a CPU fan header so it should be controllable using software but my EVGA x99 micro 2 motherboard wont show me fan control stuff.

Hi everyone, I'm going to build my 1st PC (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fbqtzy). The parts will be arriving soon and I'm really looking forward to it . I'm planning to switch out the case fans that come with the Phanteks Enthoo Pro for some Corsair fans and also the stock fans that come with the CPU cooler (h100i) will get replaced. So I will order some extra fans to complete my build. My Fan-Plan ( ): Front: 2x Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition Back: 1x Corsair AF120 Quiet Edition H100i GTX (mounted on Top): 2x Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition (Fans on top pulling air through the radiator out of the case) Since this is my first build, i would be thankfull for some advice on how to set my fans up so that i can controll them via the Motherboard and keep the build "clean" (I don't want to have all the cables on my motherboard). My Questions are: 1. I noticed that the Phanteks Enthoo Pro has some kind of Fan-Hub in the back of the case. Can I just plug all my fans in there and connect this hub to my motherboard? 2. What about the fans of the H100i? Do I need to plug them into the CPU-Fan-Connector since they are kind of the "CPU-Cooling"-Fans? 3. Are these the right fans (AF-Fans) for this setup or should I go with the SP-Fans for the whole case? Sorry if I'm sounding a little confused with my questions but i hope you can give me some advices

I am using Windows 10 MSI Z97A Gaming 7 MOBO Bios V1.11 MSI Command Center Vers. 1.01.08 I would like to know if there is a way to keep my fan profiles saved at all times. Every time I shut the computer off I lose my fan profiles and I have to load them again. I have it enabled to launch at Startup and I have my fan profiles saved but the problem is every time I shut my computer off it forgets my settings and I have to load all of my saved fan profiles. I want my fan profiles to stay loaded so that I dont have to mess with it and it will stop going back to default settings. What am I doing wrong or am I supposed to reload all of my fan profiles everytime I boot and I dont want to change my BIOS settings I want to be able to control my fans through software that I can change on the fly. I have tried Speedfan but I think that MSI Command Center is conflicitng with it and I am not shutting off MSI Command Center for Speedfan. Speedfan doesnt work with the MSI Command Center it seems like MSI Command Center overrides it maybe? Im not sure. Thanks

Hello guys, I've got a small question about pc fans: Would plugging a pwm fan in a fan controller with voltage control do any harm to the pwm circuitry of the fan? From my knowledge pwm uses an impulse method to send short 12v impulses to the fan thus making it much easier to fine control the rpm of the fan. Would sending different voltage vallues to a fan cause any problem?

Interesting question: my Macbook Pro often gets quite hot form time to time, and the internal fans don't seem to do enough to cool it. Anyone know of some trustworthy utilities to control fan speeds within the OSX environment? I've seen some by doing a ye ole' google search, but I'd trust the opinion of anyone on here that's used it before the shady (and frankly lackluster) reviews on those tools. Currently running Mavericks.
