So when I turn on or wake up my computer after an extended period, the screen will wake up for a half second and then turns black. Not off, just black. it used to be that I could turn the monitor off then on again, and the display would work again. But eventually it required doing so more and more times. Till now it simply will not stay. I recently had to replace my motherboard with a refurbished one from China since it’s so old. (Currently at work, so can’t remember what exactly it is.) So I was wondering if maybe that had something to do with it. But that being said, the monitor itself is probably 7-8 years old. Flatscreen Dell monitor, pretty standard. I might be forgetting something, but running out of lunch break here. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully it’s just an old monitor that needs replaced kind of issue.

I had update 1803 mess up my os first time around because it kept reverting to my restore point in the last stages of installation after a restart. But now since they've re-rolled the update out I'm having the same problem... Could this be a mobo firmware issue? Or is the update still just trash? I'm running 3570k on z77a-g45

Hey guys, I had a USB drive with Windows on it and my installation crashed because of my cpu problem or whatever it is. Since then I can't boot Windows from it again and I can't format it with right-click because the volume is 0kB now instead of 8GB. Can anyone tell me how to format it again? Thanks in advance!!

I put together a new pc yesterday and everything booted up fine, posted, and I installed windows. As I was installing ASRock RGB LED, the system shut down completely and no longer boots. I will note, the RGB light on the board was red while just sitting plugged in (not booted up). Now that same light is a yellowish-green and if I hold down the power button the system does not boot and that light disappears, and when I let up the light reappears. I have the same wiring as before and everything was powered properly. I might also add that I tested the PSU with a paperclip and it is fully functional. I also reset the BIOS and CMOS, the motherboard reacted the same way when the power button was pressed. Hello all! Just looking for some advice or to see if anybody else has experience with a similar issue. It has me properly scratching my head! haha. So, last Wednesday, while my PC was running completely at idle, sat at the desktop, my Corsair SF600 power supply failed with a bang and a flash of light from the rear of the PSU itself. Tripping the circuit breaker for the sockets on that ring. This appeared to kill the unit all together. Wasn't able to get any power to any of the components until I connected up an older power supply, an AX750, externally (as it doesn't fit in my SFX case). I one-by-one reconnected each component and tried powering the device. To my surprise, everything was fine with all of the components hooked up. Ran a couple of hours of Prime95 and Unigine Valley simultaneously with no issues. So I shrugged and attributed this to the heatwave we are currently having in the UK that must have pushed a very heavily used 3 year old PSU over the edge. So I ordered a replacement. The next day I installed the replacement SF600 and i was off to the races. However today, 5 days after installing it, the replacement unit appears to have failed. The PC, this time while streaming a video from 4oD, powered down suddenly. Followed by a 'clunk' from the power supply. Sounded like a safety shut off to me. Testing would seem to agree as cycling the power switch on the PSU would allow me to switch the PC on for a split second. Then it would power back down immediately. Seems to be a protection cutoff. I have tried powering up the PC with this 2nd SF600 with just the 24 pin (ATX) and 8 pin (CPU) connected. Still exactly the same results. Only powers on for a fraction of a second. The PC is now running fine again using the AX750 as an external power supply sat next to the tower. No stability issues running stress tests or games. Could anyone here suggest a line of investigation? I'm confused as to how I have managed to kill 2 Corsair SF600's in the space of a week... Amazon are already sending a free replacement for SF600 number 2 and I'm concerned this will just pop as well after just as short a life span. Would you guys think the 2nd unit being faulty is more or less likely than one of my components being at fault? The PC is on a surge protector. Maybe this could do with replacing? Maybe I'm experiencing unclean power... So many avenues to go down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So my hard drive on my PC cannot be detected. I tried swapping out the SATA cables but it still won't show up in the bios. Does anyone know how to fix it or recover its data cheaply? I'm planning to replace it with and SSD anyways but I need the data recovered from it The hard drive failed with a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD and then the system refused to boot citing no boot device. The SATA cable was quite loose but when replaced would not work.

A EVGA 970 FTW just failed on me after just over a months use. This was an RMA that was still under warranty and it failed on me, I'm concerned that another component is the factor here. The PC runs without the GPU inserted into the PICe slot. All other components show no sign of problems, or errors. The original 970 FTW that I'd had lasted for almost 3 years, but then a second fails on me just after about a month? I don't have another card, or motherboard to test on, or even another power supply to test. I'd love to get some feedback on recommendations of things to investigate. Specs of system are below if that helps any Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370XP SLI - Firmware F8 2x8 Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400 EVGA 750W G2 80 Plus Gold Sound Blaster Z Samsung 850 EVO 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB 6TB Western Digital Blue Dell 24" Gaming 144hz G Sync 1440p Monitor Dell 24" 1440p 60hz Monitor

Hey, Windows did an automatic update when I was out, and it seems to have totally wiped and broken my Samsung 840 EVO. The drive shows up in Disk Manager, and list of drives, but I can't format it, write much data to it, access any data that was there. I've tried so many solutions involving deleting and creating partitions, as well as changing the ports and cables it's using. The disk just doesn't seem to want to work properly. It's out of warranty by about 6 months, so thats out fo the question. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Okay so for the past couple of weeks at least, Windows 10 has been forcing security updates on me. Windows Update Assistant thingy starts downloading & installing updates without an option to cancel then it goes through the restart process several times to complete the installation, then once complete it says something like Attempting to restore a previous version of windows. Every. Single. Time. It does this & I can't stop it. Any ideas on what's wrong?

Edit: I tried reinstalling my Nvidia drivers and it failed on the ‘graphics driver’ portion. After rebooting I am no longer getting any signal whatsoever from the computer - just a black screen. Hey everyone, So last night a problem suddenly started happening - my mouse/cursor would randomly skip frames and lag. It's never happened before. It happens throughout the Windows UI as well as in games and is reproducable through moving the cursor in circles until it happens - usually every five seconds or so. I've tried uninstalling the device from the device manager, removing any excess peripherals beyond the keyboard and still the problem persists. I also have the latest drivers and firmware installed for the peripherals (stated below). My system specifications are as follows: Case: Phanteks Evolv Shift Power supply: Corsair 600SF PSU Motherboard: Asus Z370-I ITX Motherboard Processor: i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz CPU cooler: Corsair H80i V2 Memory: 32GB 3200MHz Corsair Dominator RAM Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 SSD Video card: Asus GTX 1080 Ti Poseidon -- Logitech G615 Keyboard Logitech G703 Mouse To emphasise, this has only started last night - I've had the computer for two weeks without any issues whatsoever. Thank you all so much for any help!

Hello, Yesterday, I was doing a routine graphics driver upgrade when I got the message: Nvidia Installer Failed. I have tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, I have used DDU to clean the old drivers off, and I have tried reseating my GPU. Nothing works. It seems as if my old drivers have been completely removed because if I go to the control panel, my GPU is not there and there is one "Unknown Device." When I try to upgrade drivers for the unknown device, it tries to upgrade to the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" but that also fails. It says "The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information." So, basically, I am stuck with no drivers for my GPU at all because it always fails no matter what I do. Help is appreciated. Thanks, Landon

Hello, I've just bought a new western digital blue hard drive to add to my computer. I've plugged in the power and sata cable and the PC finds the new volume in disk management. However when I try to name it and format it a error message pops up saying "The format did not complete successfully." The drive keeps the letter I gave it but not the name. I have a small 240Gb SSD and a 1Tb western digital black already installed on the computer and I've used this Sata lead before so I'm confident the wire is working. And I've restarted the computer a few times with out any change. Is there a way to check that it's getting the power it needs from the PSU? Let me know if you need to know anything I've not mentioned. If anyone knows how to fix this problem I'd appreciate the help.

Hey guys, about 4 days ago I was having a issue where every single game I tried to play crashed within 10 seconds of starting. I thought that it could have been my drivers so I installed them again and still had the same issue. After that failed I figured I would try a clean install of the drivers, so I used AMD's Clean uninstall utility and removed all of the drivers. Then I reinstalled the drivers (turned off anti virus during install) and still had the same problem. After a TON of trouble shooting I found out that it was a program called plays.tv that was causing the crashs. Ever since I used the clean install utility I have been unable to open the RadeonSettings and have been getting an error that says "failed to create OpenGL context (see pic below)" I have searched all over and cannot find a fix. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks for your time. CPU: FX-8350 GPU: R9 290 MSI Gaming Edition

I played the original versions on steam and completed them both. Bioshock Infinite was not "remastered" and thus shall not show up inside this post. Okay, the first major problem about these are the fact that it takes up an extra slot inside the steam library. Considering these "remasters" are hardly even a patch, this confuses me. I would like saying that even though they were garbage PC ports, I enjoyed the original games for their atmosphere and the overall experience exploring the city at the ocean's floor. It was a great game and I played both on Xbox 360 AND PC. I beat Bioshock first on Xbox and then once again on PC. I played Bioshock 2 a few times on Xbox and then completed the game on PC. I bought the Minerva's Den DLC too.I played on an Xbox 360 gamepad on the PC version. Bioshock 2 had some serious problems the first time around. Bioshock was fine, though. These "remasters" are garbage ports and unstable trash. Look, the idea that they would update the resolution and frame rate for consoles was not a bad idea. Including all 3 games on the same disk was also a cool thing. Releasing this trash for "free" on steam was just a dumb idea, considering how they were done very poorly and shoddily. It crashes during the game's first 10 minutes! The game resets custom key bindings every time! The game, I felt, already looked cool considering the game's age. This added a crispness and improved the game's worst graphical problem: the textures. Still though, they took the time producing this product and yet everything that was bad about the original versions remains. The mouse settings, they are trash. The graphical settings? They are trash. The overall stability? Trash. Verdict? Garbage. Anyway, before droning on about people being entitled and whining about a free product, just shut up. 2K was best off not even producing this garbage. This barely constitutes a patch. Actually. it was the opposite. At least a patch fixes bugs.

So I bought a PC about two weeks ago and it's been pretty good, BUT when I tried to install Just Cause 2 when I checked if I wanted DirectX to be installed and I press NEXT, it shows me an error that says: "Unable to execute file: D:\Just Cause 2\3rd\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe CreateProcess failed; code 740. The requested operation requires elevation." I thought this was just because there was something wrong with the game so I just shrugged it off as if it was nothing to worry about. But NOW I was trying to install Mafia 2 and the exact same thing happens. I have googled about this problem but all I could find was people saying that I should just run the program as an administrator, but that doesn't work, at least not for me. So please if anyone can help me with this I'll really appreciate it, because I'm losing my mind with this BS.

Hello guys, I am in need of help! Not long ago I decided to upgrade to windows 10, after I downloaded it my pc started to run into some problems: it started crashing, the screen would freeze with pink artifacts all over the place and the sound would continue for a bit and I would get display driver kernel errors and such. I noticed the pc was only recognizing 24gigs of ram, which was weird because I have 32, so I took the motherboard out of the case and started to test each stick individually and different configurations then all of the sudden they all started to be recognized again. After that the ram issue was fixed ( no idea why that happened ) but the problem persisted and looking online I found it might be the gpu, it wasnt letting my pc even turn on at some points, so I decided to put it in the oven and it helped, for a while ( 1 week ) then it falied again,so I sent my evga gtx 780 6gb edition to repair. btw I did try everything I could, reverting back to windows 8.1, completely removing all the display drivers and installing older ones ( tried about 23 drivers I think ). The guy let the gpu run in benchmarks and games for 1 week and nothing happened, it was working flawlessly there and over here the gts 450 I had lying around was working just fine too. He sent it back to me and it just wouldnt work. I started to think it was the psu messing around with the gpu, and a repair man told me it was the psu through the phone. What is weird is: if it is the psu why would the gpu work for 1 week after being put in the oven for 4 minutes ? and why would another gpu ( I know it consumes less power ) not run into the same issues ? Right now the pc wont load windows, as soon as the windows 10 logo goes on the screen and starts to load the pc freezes and restarts if the 780 is plugged in, if the gts 450 is in it works just fine. Any suggestions ? the 780 was out of the warranty period and I was desperate since I use this pc for university work so I had to try the oven, and no it didnt damage capacitors or resistors. I also read on the nvidia forums that windows 10 was bricking some gpus, so I don't even know what to think or try anymore.

Hey guys(/girls) I've been having this problem for a while now where my os just can't manage to pull off the update. When I shut my pc down it usually powers down in about 30seconds and boots to desktop in 40s as well but now it's always updating till 100% and then undoing them. I've tried checking for corrupt windows files, came up empty. I've tried the windows troubleshooter which worked for one time but next time it was back. What should i do? Thanks in advance

One day I decided I wanted to play BF4, I got into a game with decent ping and then I started to rubberband. After about 10 seconds I got kicked. This happened with every match I went into. I made a post to the battlefield forums and got some advice there. Other multiplayer games I tried have the same error. After updating different programs and power cycling my router the problem still remained. Here's a link to the battlefield forum post so you guys can see everything I've tried: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/BF4-Weird-Rubber-Banding-Glitch/m-p/5340086#M209132 After more research I thought the problem might be packet loss. I pinged my router through the cmd and after the test in the statistics it informed me of my packet lost stat, which was 0%. I've checked SpeedTest and my download speed is normal and I still get the error. I also tried pingtest but the packet loss measure won't work for me. It says I need to install Java which I have. I am on wifi using a Linksys' adapter (SN: JNW10J718551). I've been having quite a few problems with my computer lately but I'm not sure if they're all related. Another problem I've been having is after putting the computer to sleep a couple times new chrome tabs just stop working until I restart the computer. Edge works fine but I'm more partial to chrome. As well after logging into my computer sometimes a message saying "Failed to connect to a Windows service" will pop up. I'm really stumped here, hoping you guys could help!

Hello everyone, I am back again with another issue. So I was going to update to 362.00 drivers, so I deleted my drivers in Driver Fusion. I rebooted my computer and Windows Update came out of nowhere. So I loaded back up and tried to run 362.00, it opens, downloads, then checks for system compatibility, then ultimately fails, saying everything is not installed. I have attempted to install 361.91 and 361.75 (I think) and it said "These drivers aren't supported with this version of Windows" I have attempted to run as administrator. I have tried to update through device manager, changing the directory of the driver folder NVIDIA/International/etc., but failed. I have tried deleting NVIDIA corporation from Program files x86, and Program files, failure. I downloaded driver sweeper and wiped every driver it detected, rebooted, and still did not work. I have disabled my virus protection, nothing. I tried to add my graphics card ID into the Display.driver files, ran the setup.exe, still nothing. Even though I supposedly deleted everything NVIDIA related via driver sweeper, Geforce Experience and NVIDIA documents under my user still exist. Possible error source? I ran a sfc /scannow in cmd, and it said nothing came out of it, so I think my Windows 10 update is stable. SPECS: CPU: i5-4430 GPU: GTX 660 RAM: 2X Corsair Vengeance 8 GB RAM MOBO: Msi G45-z87 PSU: HX 650W HDD: Toshiba (don't know exact model) OS: Absolute latest Windows 10 update Drivers: currently using Intel-chipset drivers because I can't rollback NVIDIA. Please help. Thanks.

So I wanted to restart my PC with only the necessary drivers because I wanted to start my PC without all my unnecessary programs running in that background at startup so I went to Msconfig and selected 'normal startup- load all device drivers and services' Now when I try to start the PC I get this error. I've tried inserting the Windows 7 disk but start-up repair failed (probably because I upgraded to Windows 10) and I can't do a system restore because I don't have any backups... Oops.
