Still wanna complain Linus? Its faster than optic fiber so... Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, but I have a provocation for you all: What would you do, if YOU could BUILD your own CASE? I mean, what is your ideal case? what materials would you use for this project? I want a lot of answers, A LOT! I already love this forum, it's full of nice people! PS: I'm Italian, so please, don't mock on my english ! :D

I just finished playing Far Cry 3, what a great game! Really cinematic and a positively epic ending (I chose to save the friends). I just thought it was a really sad ending though, why couldn't Citra accept any of Jason's friends yet treated Jason like a god? Also I didn't get why Jason didn't go home with his friends. That's what I wanted to happen. Yeah I really don't like Citra. Oh yeah another thing what is up with the weird tripping stabbing of all the bad guys? Is Jason high? Are they all actually dead? I don't get it... Anyway, fabulous game 10/10 would play again.

Hi guys, Firstly, this video. Now, one very important thing to note is that this stuff flakes off when exposed to Sunlight (Ultraviolet radiation) for extended periods. You can buy it at Home Depot for about $20 a can. I want it. So bad. It can go on ALL THE THINGS. Maybe not plates or utensils to eat with, but the floor, my kitchen counters (where food is not supposed to be prepared), my mouse, my keyboard (so I can just dunk it in water to clean it). Here are some more videos to show it off: Super Hydrophobic spray-on coating. It is Oleophobic too. (Like it is with water, but with Oil.) Will this be the next Asbestos? Not sure. But it is fricking cool.

Post at /. Holy crap. Dats a lot of hash rate. ... Hmm. I don't see the value in paying to mine currency. I mean, why don't they just keep the coins they mine? Really? I understand it's a more constant stream of cash, having people pay you to mine for them. But still. It just doesn't seem logical. Note: If you go to slashdot and it looks weird, make sure you aren't at beta.slashdot.org. They are trying out a new format. It's terrible.

Story at /. Anybody think it will appear on GPU's? Is this the same type of NAND Flash that can handle 1TB sizes? Or is it a different kind altogether? It'd be epic if it were on GPU's.

Hi guys, So yeah. That thing is just. Crazy awesome. I want one. Of course I would shoot my own eye out with it. Somehow. Mom was always right. :|

Hello, I was wonder if you put an SSD into an external hard drive enclosure, would it function properly? As in would it function without problems? SSDs prefer TRIM to work most effectively but would I be activated if you tried this idea? I want to know this as I want the redundancy with an SSD with the portability of the external drive. I know that solutions such as Angel Bird exist but it would be much cheaper with this method. The SSD I had in mind would be the Samsung 840 with any external drive enclosure. Thanks.

Hey guys, I thought it'd be cool to take some pictures of the servers my company uses for their business. They aren't particularly special or anything, but for our size (2 buildings comprised of about 40-50 people), I think they are pretty nice.

So basically I am currently using a WD Caviar Black 1TB (I know a 1TB hard drive with an os on it) and I was wondering, should I get a Samsung 840 500 GB SSD or even a 840 Pro 512GB, how much of a speed boost to expect? Thanks for all help guys!

Something magical just recently happened. I entered a contest to win a phosphor smart watch from Tech of Tomorrow thinking it's worth a shot. Well turns out I actually won. But when I read that I won it said it was from 4 months ago. I asked Elric if he still had it, he said no and I had 30 days to claim but didn't. I felt pretty stupid and sad for missing out on a great chance to get some cool prizes. But in the darkest time I saw a light... on my phone. It was Elric personally calling me to find out my steam name so he could send me some games because he felt bad. In no way did he need to call me or give me anything. He could of said well tuff luck and kept going. But no he took time out of his schedule and contacted me and gave me some steam games. Great man for doing so. Everyone should go check him out he is a great man with a good heart. This is speaking directly from me. There is some proof.

Hey guys and girls, I don't know if there is already a thread on OneGigabit but I couldn't find one so here is one. So there is this company called OneGigabit that is an ISP (Internet Service Provider) and they provide Google Fiber like speeds in Canada, specifically Vancouver for now. They are cheaper than Google Fiber with plans from $40-$65 for gigabit to ten gigabit speeds. Here is their website: http://onegigabit.ca/index.shtml thought it might be worth sharing as it increases the possibility of them spreading out over Canada (free advertisement). If I can recall, Linus Media Group uses Telus to get the speeds in the house that they use as headquarters, this might be a better option for them (I might be wrong though).

Hey, guys ive been having some problems with my brand new gpu, its the s3 prosavage ddr . So basically i got the last one off of newegg just before they ran out of stock at the black friday sale for 179.99. Heres the rest of my setup- Corsair 900d, Soyo SY-5EHM, Via Samuel 2, s3 prosavage ddr,and i went with the evga supernova 1500w. And also im a huge computer geek so i know what you guys are talking about so dont spare me any details. Anyway i tried to overclock my gpu to 4.2Ghz after following my 8 year old cousins instructions. After i did that the gpu almost exploded inside my computer causing the 900d to shrivel into bits. Everything is still intact though. Since the overclock did not work i am just asking what kind of aftermarket coolers do you guys reccomend for the s3 prosavage ddr. Thanks and once again IM OUT.

I was wondering which cards would be perfect to a 2way configuration (crossfire or sli) in a $1500 budget. What would you recommend me to get? (I personaly like the ASUS cards and the EVGA ones) It could be NVIDIA or AMD either. Thanks!

So i was doing some work on my NAS which had a bad fan in the PSU, and after sometime the fan just wasn't cutting it anymore got to the point where it didn't even spin properly on its side. I just finished replacing the fan with a Delta fan i got a fair while ago now, which by the way is pretty loud (4000 RPM, 120mm). Though i would join the forums make this my first post, throw some pictures up for you all to see and explain it! Specs: ASUS M4N82 Deluxe AMD Phenom II 965 C3 7GB DDR2 (667 or 800, who cares anyway) 2x Intel Desktop Gigabit NICs PCIe 2x TP Link Gigabit NICs PCI 3x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 2x WD 80GB Caviar Blacks (1 IDE, 1 SATA) 160GB WD Caviar Black IDE 1TB Seagate Barracuda Other Noteworthy Items: COM Port 3x Hotswap SATA Bays Lots of fans Cable Ties 2x 8GB USB Flash (1 for OS, 1 for Jails running on the OS) About: Well having a NAS is very handy, and the best kind of hardware is the hardware you build yourself plus commercial NAS systems are overpriced i think. This particular NAS system runs FreeNAS 9.10, and well does the usual thing you would expect from a NAS which is store files, share files, etc. Most of the installed HDDs are in RAID arrays using ZFS, if anyone is interested ill post more details on what RAID levels i am using and a bit more in depth information about the setup on the software side of things. Just thought I would have a little rant. With a new halo this year which has been entitled (At the moment) "Halo Xbox one" on their website, I see no hope for a PC release however I find this a shame since I wont be buying a Xbox one only for this new release and maybe one squeal before the Xbox platform looses its hold on the market (But that a topic for another day). I grew up with Halo, with the original Xbox, going onto the 360 until I realised that a PC gives a much much better experience than consoles. But what a shame halo is an exclusive. Halo is arguably the best and one of the most versatile game franchises that has ever been. But it was a mistake by Bungie and 343 Industries not to port halo onto PC. I am not talking about a brand new release going on to PC. A bit more like how rockstar has went about GTA 5. Even if they ported Halo 3 to PC now. Imagine what the modding community could do to halo 3 if they were let to edit it and get their teeth into the engine and graphics, like they have Skyrim. Giving the game the full graphical overhaul it deserves and allowing us, the gamers to play the game that Bungie wanted it to be experienced. The story behind all of the halo games is a masterpiece in itself but it is often that the graphical aesthetic of the game lets it down. I experienced this with halo 4 it seemed a let down, not because of the story but in the 5 years between the two games, I saw such a little improvement and I just expected more. (Sorry for using this example again) Skyrim, since its release its graphic has evolved so much that with these improvements it can still stand toe to toe with new releases which are orientated around graphics and story. If the halo franchise was allowed to spread onto the PC, I think it would enrich the experience that we would get from the game. Now i am not saying the graphics as important as the story but what I am saying, is if it were released to PC they would become better, and I did however think that when halo: anniversary was released with the "graphical overhaul" it didn't improve the game, I preferred the vanilla graphics because that is what I can remember from being a child. And many people will feel the same way. But i think it is an insult to us gamers that we should get a new release designed for a set hardware to render at 720p which is then up-scaled (correct me if I am wrong I don't really know much about the 360/Xbox one) to 1080p. When their are games out their that have been designed to push the limits of technology, which aren't even AAA titles. I doubt that the new Halo wont be full of story, and lore, and all the things that we love as gamers. However I do think that the graphics and limitations that the console brings to the table is something that us as gamers should have to deal with in order to play the games that we have grown up with and loved nor should having to buy an inferior technology. This is the genre that requires a lot of graphical input and user immersion, that only a PC can bring (Spyro on PC would be amazing with or without a graphic boost). And the bonus' that the PC gives a game is so important to a first person game. (Sorry again) Skyrim thrives on mods created by the community. Halo's forge gives so much versitlity to the online and this keeps the game going (at least on Halo 3) way after its release. Its this sort of community creativity boost that makes games so enjoyable. Starcraft 2 is a very good example of this its online becomes very monotone after a while of playing, however the creation tool that blizzard gave the community was so open and so programmable that it is what keeps the game alive between the expansions (Debatable). Something that Diablo 3 could do with, if blizzard opened up the random dungeon crawl engine as a tool to create independent community made quest lines i think the game would thrive. Halo Wars is the one game I would have loved to have been an exclusive to PC and designed for the PC as it was simply on the wrong platform. If it had released when it did for PC it would have enriched the RTS genre before the release of Star craft 2 in the next year. I don't think this would port very well now however as Blizzard raised the bar for the Sci-fi RTS genre to a very high height and any sort of port to PC would seem, a waste of money. I know how much people rant about this sort of thing and how annoying exclusives are so please don't slate me about how stupid this post is or anything, and the reason I posted it here instead of on the halo way-point forums or another halo community forum is because I most probably wouldn't have been heard as much as I am here (hats off to Linus) and If I were heard I would have probably been shot down by all of the fan boys of consoles, who know nothing about PC and would have probably received a comment such as "Gaming with a controller is much better than keyboard and mouse" and I would have most probably went into a rant with a prepubescent child, trying to convince him that you can use a controller with a PC.

So my friend (who knows me too well) showed me the razer naga epic... and now I want one. The one thing I wonder about though, is it a bit small? I've seen there are inter-changeable grips on it, but the standard one felt a bit small. I guess I have average sized hands (medium) for a guy from scandinavia. Anyone have any advice on this one? Also, how is the battery life?

Simple. I like it. I wonder why teachers don't teach us this awesome, simple method of doing algebra and such. It seems like it'd fix all our problems. (literally) What awesome tricks have you learned to do math?

I just found out about this thanks to my supervisor showing me it. I thought I'd share. Here is the page listing all the utilities (in a better format, because I'm not formatting all that after Ctrl + Shift + V). However, I can't find the download button on that page. I found a legit place to download it here. Go to the bottom and click the hyperlink where "Filename: Hirens.BootCD.15.2.zip". Some of it is old and useless (for Windows 8 for example), but other things are pretty cool and always useful. Some are for MS-DOS (yes, old), some are for Linux, and some are for Windows. This is for those who don't want to read the full list linked above; it's an overview.
