Hey guys, I just switched from a gtx 980 to an rtx 3070. I have a dual monitor setup(One DP input, one DVI). I bought a HDMI to DVI adapter to still be able to use my older monitor as a secondary. But it seems my 3070 cannot output to it. When I check my display settings it recognizes my second monitor but tells me it "isn't active"(When I connect the monitor to my laptop with the same cable it works). Is there a fix to it or do I simply have to buy a new monitor for my new graphics card?

(4070 ti, GR driver v. 528.49) I noticed an issue in colors when opening Photoshop on my Cintiq 13 While the following is what that's supposed to look: Here's 2 other examples: However, if you look at the histogram and layer panels, the colors are displaying fine in there: I have no Idea what's going on, the tablet is connected via HDMI, But it's being detected as DVI, so it's displaying a limited color gamut, however, It's still dispplaying the colors just fine in other apps like windows photos: What's going on?

I have this VGA to DVI adapter, but it has fewer pins than anything I can find online. The wikipedia page has no info on this pin arrangement. Any idea what it's for? And what resolution and Hz it supports? I'm asking purepy out of curiosity, as I simply found this while going through my stash of adapters and other things.

Ive always wondered if ports like DVI-Digital and VGA are still competitive. Is displayport better than HDMI?

So my second monitor needs a VGA or DP input, though I don't have any on my PC. To solve this I used a DVI to DP cable to turn the DVI signal from my PC into a DP signal. Then, when I turn the monitor on, no signal is transmitted. It displays [POWER SAVING MODE] before turning the screen black. I know the screen is getting a connection, as the display would say [NO CONNECTION] if it didn't. I tried the cable on my other monitor and It didn't work there either. It's probably not the cable, as I got it just today. So it must be something in the DVI output that's messing it up. If you have a solution or any idea for what I can do, leave a comment, and ill reply ASAP. If you would like any more information on the matter, don't be scared to reach out, I'm trying my best as well!

Hi i am new to vr. And well everytime i put my vr headset in it picks this up as mian monitor even in bios. My main monitor uses a dvi to hdmi. My vr headset is the original htc vive. No matter what i do i keep getting my desktop in the vr, even in direct display. I cannot play anything let alone see steam vr as a result. On ubuntu. Is there some 2ay to swap the display order? So it detects the dvi as main and hdmi as secondary? And by dvi i mean the rectangular port with a diagonal corner. The picture is the monitor issue. I used the options menu for refrence. Yes that is 1080p. I could disable the display in settings using work space switcher to get to corner to confirm, per os spasifically but would that make it not work with steam? That also doesnt solve the bios issue. edit 1: the disabling of display in the os makes the headset not work at all.

I know, I know, it's almostt 2022 and people are talking about VGA and DVI, ew,what the f? But hear me out, I have this very odd (at least for me) DVI-VGA adapter: Basically only 6+5 pins on the DVI side. I am really trying to find out what is this thing because everywhere I look I see these: Basically there is no info on the internet about this adapter or any DVI adapter/cable with this number of pins. Not even many pictures. So... what is it and why does it look like it is missing pins? And how does it may impact the video quality? Or am I just dumb and missing something? O_o

I found a ThinkPad USB 3 dock in storage at work, and my coworker has a T470s. Will it be possible to triple monitor using the DVI ports from the dock + HDMI from the laptop? Or will the triple monitor only go as far as laptop + 2 DVI?

So I am almost finished my build but I have to keep using my old GPU until I can get a new one, the bad thing is that it's from 2012 and a GTX 660. So my problem is is that I am only running a display port cable from the GPU to the Monitor and no HDMI or DVI cables, my question is can the DP be used as the default setting for the GPU as I can't get into the bios without using at minimum an HDMI cable, is this a 2012 thing or a software thing? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, this is an issue I've been having with my monitor since November. My monitor tends to go black for a second and come back on at random, and I'm not sure why. The monitor could be fine for weeks or days then happen. There's no specific pattern that I've noticed. It's been happening ever since I started using HDMI and DVI (I originally only used VGA). At first I thought it was my PC's graphics card, but it also happens when my sister used the same monitor to play her PS4. I have tried switching HDMI cables, switching to DVI, switching DVI cables (I even bought a new cable a week ago) and tried different systems (Two PCs and PS4). Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is this a sign that this monitor is on its way out? I did get this from my dad's job in 2019. I'm completely out of ideas. My monitor is an Asus ProArt PA249Q if that helps. EDIT: I should also include that the issue has NEVER happened when using VGA, so maybe I could try getting a DVI to VGA converter and seeing, but still continue to respond if you have any fixes!

So I've recently upgraded my GPU and I don't have a DVI port on it anymore. Since I can only run 144hz on my monitor through DVI, I was wondering If I could keep my old GPU in a second PCI slot just as a video output while the primary GPU does all the work. I've tried to make it work but the pc just uses the GPU I plug the display into as the primary graphics card and puts all the load on it. A quick google search reveals that there should be a "Select preferred graphics processor" option in my Nvidia control panel but that seems to be missing. I've tried reinstalling drivers but that didn't help either Many people from other forums have recommended a Dvi to Dp/Hdmi adaptor. An active adaptor that supports 144hz will cost me over a hundred dollars and It would just be smarter for me to just buy a new monitor xP 1st GPU is an Rtx 2080 and the second GPU is a Gtx 770 if that helps. Thanks! Attached a picture of the rig just cuz I think 2 Gpus in one pc always look super awesome!

Was going through some stuff in my basement when I came across this old beast (probably wasn't but one can dream lol) and it's just been eating away at me for what it could be. I don't have a system with and agp port, so I can't exactly just gpu-z it or anything. The strangest part was the crucial sticker on the fan, which really got me curious about what this could possibly be. So I went googling just about every string of characters that was on the pcb, sticker or not, and still nothing popped up. The closest result was from when I tried on the bottom right of the front, PN 109-A034GN-00C, but that gave results that obviously weren't this card. I got desperate so I popped the cooler off, and the die was illegible. So now I turn here! To see if any of you know anything about this mystery card.

So every time I go to launch my computer it starts up the display as a DVI instead of HDMI. then after it passes the bios option screen the screen turns black for anywhere between 5 to 30 seconds changing the display to HDMI. I don't understand sense my GPU (RX 5600xt) doesn't even support DVI nor does my monitor. If someone knows a way how I can get my computer to launch in HDMI so that I don't have to wait half a minute as it tries to change the screen to HDMI, I would be very grateful.

I bought a pretty old BenQ monitor (XL2411T 2012) that can run 120hz and maybe even 144hz? The guy who sent me the monitor only game me a HDMI cable which does not allow me to reach anything above 60hz, so I used my own DVI cable (Yes its dual link) and all I get is a distorted and blurry screen on anything above 60hz with a message that says "Use the DVI Dual link cable that came with the monitor" can anyone recommend me a DVI cable that will work? I've read that CPO, BENFEI, Cable Matters and AmazonBasics DVI Cables work but some reviews say otherwise, please I really need help TL;DR: What DVI Cable should I get for my XL2411T? (Don't have DisplayPort)

Hi, I am looking at upgrading to a RX 5700XT however I have ran into a issue I may have. How would I go about adapting Display Port to and older DVI only 144hz monitor? I have tried an cheap adaptor on my GTX 680 but it only shows up as 60hz... I know the DVI cable is dual link and capable of 144hz as I use it natively via the 680s DVI port. I assume I need a better adaptor? any help appreciated

hello everyone, 4 days back i had this issue with my GPU (gtx 780 ti), i'm using a dvi-i to vga adapter (yes i know it's not the 20th century anymore) connected to my asus VW193T monitor and i tried to turn it on that morning but the screen didn't detect it, i thought the problem was that the adapter broke, but I've tried it with an old quadro 2000 and it worked just fine, then i thought that the graphics card was dead, but when i hooked it up to my tv over hdmi it worked perfectly, display port worked as well, i run games and all seemed to work great, so then the dvi-i port was clearly the problem, fortunately my monitor has a dvi-d port, my question to you guys is if dvi-i and dvi-d are related, in other words, if dvi-i port died then automatically the dvi-d is dead as well considering they are really close to each other, also, is there a way to know if dvi-i port is damaged physically or its just a software issue. thank you

Hi, guys, I'm new to the forums and hope someone can help me out as I'm getting kinda desperate. I have an old LG 23ea63 monitor and I kept my ps4 hooked up to it via HDMI, and my PC - via the DVI port. The monitor has an "input" button to switch between modes, and it worked fine until I gave the console to my friend to play for a few days. I now have it back and hooked it the way it was, but now the monitor refuses to switch to the HDMI output whenever PC is on giving feed via the DVI port. Thing is, the actual HDMI connection is working fine because when the PC is shut down and it can't locate the DVI source, it switches to HDMI automatically. But whenever the PC is on and I try to switch from the DVI image (which it locates as a priority) to HDMi one, it will just blink and turn back on the DVI. Here's a video of what happens: Tried two different cables, tried, resetting the monitor settings to defaults, PS4's HDCP setting is turned off unplugging everything from the monitor, but the same issue persists. Funny thing is, when I connect my PS3 to the monitor with the same cable, it will switch to it via the "switch" button with the PC turned on, but whenever the HDMI signal is lost (when changing resolutions, for example), it automatically switches to DVI whereas it never used to before. Also, the monitor won't find any signal at all when the DVI cable isn't pluged in, even when the PS4 is switched and hooked up via HDMI, but it always used to be like that from what I remember.

i have tried update the driver, roll back the driver to previous version, and try different monitor but its still doesnt detect the monitor if i using the output from the dvi slot i still doesnt understand why it doesnt output or detect any video from the dvi. I literally tried every single youtube tutorial but it still doesnt work.
