I have been looking for a sound card for my 7.1 system as the my X-Fi Xtreme Music started to occasionally produce artefact sounds the cards I considered are listed below I really want a creative card but all of them are old, designed in 2008, the currently sold Audigy RX is even a downgrade from the X-Fi Titanium series and you can only get those refurbished or used, So seeking to find out if I can switch to an ASUS cards things to consider: the specs of hardware for both asus and Creative are top notch EAX is only used in some legacy games so creative has no edge here, as ASUS also has it's GX 3.0 emulation (it's almost on par with creatives DPS chip and alchemy) thou I don't know if the new ASUS cards listed below support it CMSS-3D vs upmix I only used creatives option witch works perfectly, actually this was the reason I decided to get a discrete card as the integrated realtek chip or software on my asus motherboard produced sound artefact when upmixig Drivers, the sound drivers for ASUS are awful https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?93764-How-is-Asus-new-soundcard-the-AE-Sonic-Studio Sp the irony is that the best 5.1/7.1 card is the 2008 Creative X-Fi Titanium line, Titanium 16 MB RAM Titanium Professional Audio PCI Express Asia-only variant of X-Fi Titanium with minijack-to-2RCA cable and EMI shield 16 MB RAM Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Essentially a Titanium Fatal1ty Champion card without the I/O drive box. 64 MB RAM Titanium Fatal1ty Champion UAA support and TOSLINK in/out added. 64 MB RAM Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_X-Fi Asus cards I considered: Asus Xonar AE 7.1 ASUS Strix RAID Pro 7.1 ASUS ROG Xonar Phoebus 7.1 I think this is what Linus should have mentioned in his video, as stereo setups have a lot of choices these days

Hey all, My buddy is looking to build his first pc. Parameters: Budget: $500-$700 Needs to run the following Solidworks Keyshot Adobe CC Suite Game. It's been awhile since I've dug into budget building. Is Ryzen still a better value than intel? I thought I read something about Intel's newest gen perhaps being better. Any advice on specific parts? Thanks. Edit: Updated with speculative build, thoughts? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZqKnpG

I'm having trouble with the "THX Tru Studio Pro" software which i installed on my xmg p502 (since that laptop is marketed with this specific software). However sound quality is very bad overall and the software does absolutely nothing. Fiddling with the bars and sliders in the software itself does nothing and therefore does not improve sound qualtiy. So i tried uninstalling it in the system control which results in an error: RunDLL: problem starting c:\program; The stated module was not found. I've also tried iobit uninstaller which doesn't give out any errors but does not uninstall the program, it just pops back up after a restart with all the folders still there. I am getting really desperate and i want to know if there's any way to brute force an uninstall with complete folder removal and registry cleaning? I also checked the install folder and there's indeed no uninstall.exe or dll.

First of all pardon me my English. I was wondering what is SNR means does it matter much about gaming? I have 2012 motherboard and onboard sound card is good enough for day to day task but when it comes to gaming i can barely hear a thing. Searching on google apparently my onboard sound about 90SNR and considered getting Creative sound blasterx AE-5 it's 122SNR and two separated left and right sound crossover. Does DAC amp will do the same to internal sound card in term of gaming?Played a lot of PUBG ,CSGO,Overwatch all the games that takes advantage of having good hearing. I did all the sound guide from changing 7.1, 5.1 stereo to compressed sound every sound guide you can imagine I did it all getting Sound blasterX AE-5 is my last resource.

Using Creative SBS A225 or something on a VISE LCD tv. It has a 3.5mm output and presumably one input jack. Im using the speaker on the output jack and it generally produced static. I have the volume half, so the static is quite less and not bothersome. However if I raise the volume through the dial on the speaker I get louder static. Also, plugging in the R speaker, which does not have the audio dial, shoots the static way more. The L speaker at least plays some sounds, however the R one is pure static. I had another set of similar speakers, same experience there. So the TV is definitely to blame. This brand is not known for quality and not known well at all either. What can I do to fix this?

Hey there, I really hope someone can help me here. I recently upgraded from a old Logitech Headset to the beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro and the ModMic 5 as a microphone. Because my On-Board sound is horrible I also got the Creative Sound Blaster Z. The sound is amazing now but I'm having problems with the ModMic 5. If I don't turn on the integrated mic amplification in the Creative software (recording volume on 100 already) I can't be understood in Teamspeak whatsoever, because I'm so silent. If I do turn it on, as higher it gets the better (up to +30db) I'm understandable but obviously the sough sounds and background noises get louder too. I guess it isn't normal that you have to amplify the microphone that much to be understandable at all, so what could be the problem? Is the Sound Blaster mic input not giving the ModMic enough power to run properly? Or is something just broken? I tried to run the ModMic on my onboard soundchip aswell, but since I can't amplify it there I couldn't really hear anything. Does anyone else have this problem with the Creative Sound Blaster Z? Did I fuck up by getting one of the cheaper soundcards? Problem is I can't return the Soundblaster Z anymore unless there its a hardware defect. I don't really want to get another soundcard because 1) I don't have that much money and 2) the sound is fine with the Sound Blaster Z, just the microphone is making problems. I just recently bought the ModMic so I could send that back without problems. (The sound Blaster Z is in a PCIe slot directly under my GTX1060, don't know if that matters) Mainboard: Asus Z-87K Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster Z Headphones: beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Microphone: ModMic 5

So I have my monito UW 26inch monitor set on top of my Creative subwoofer. A350 model I think. I feel the vibrations from the woofer go up into the panel. The base takes most of the hard vibration, rest tiny bit goes to the panel. I was wondering if in the long term this would damage the display in some way. Would you guys know? I dont take my volume above 20% in windows.

Hi, so I have Sony MDR-7506 headphones, because I heard great things about them, but my problem is that my onboard sound isn't the best, its Realtek ALC887, which is on the low-end from what I can tell, I was wondering if soundcard could improve sound and maybe even loudness, because right now, even my Redmi note 4 phone is louder with these headphones than my PC is. I need it to be under $100. Could you guys suggest anything of the sort? Also I don't know if internal or external would be better. PS:Sorry for possible grammar mistakes, not my native language. Sorry for the poor array of speakers up for selection here, but which one would you guys recommend? https://us.creative.com/p/speakers/creative-pebble https://www.edifier.com/int/en/speakers/r19u-compact-2.0-usb-speakers Also, I'm a bit concerned regarding the connections on these 2 speakers. Currently, I'm running an extension 3.5mm out of the back of my PC, where I plug in my earphones. If I were to plug in the speakers to the back of my computer instead, I would be losing the green (audio out) port. I would then have no place to plug in my earphones. This is a bummer, since the speakers don't offer the option of plugging in earphones straight to them. Any solutions / suggestions? From what I've seen so far, it seems like the edifier one allows me to get audio from computer using usb only. This would be great since I can then plug in my phone when I want to as well, and listen music from there. And it also frees up the green port so I can continue using it for my earphones. Does creative allow this as well? Sorry for so many questions, hope someone can help out here. Also, I would be willing to hear any other suggestions for speakers you guys might have. Thanks!

hey So basically, a friend and I are going to be doing a creative project for our astronomy project class, but we seem to have difficulty choosing a topic, so we'd like to ask you. We were planning on either making a documentation in VSauce's(Micheal's) style or building something(probably a model of sorts) and explaining how we built it, what works how and why, and making a seperate, short documentation about that. I know this is very vague, but so far, we've considered either building a giant solar system or making a Vsauce-style video about time travel. What do you think we should do? Thanks in advance! xqcL

Hi, I strangely find comfort in a bit of white noise while using my headset. I also love talking into my mic and being able to get reverberated sound that goes through the headset. For example, when I'm on any voice chat software, Skype, Discord, TS, etc - I don't want to hear myself(like an echo) but only hear the white noise and the sound of my mic picking up my voice. This way, I can determine how loud I'm being or whether I'm breathing into my microphone. This feedback is vital to me because I love the clarity and crispness of headsets. It's like talking in real life and hearing your own voice, I hope that makes sense - it just helps me stop from speaking too loudly. I can accomplish this my motherboard's on board RealTek audio but not my Creative Sound Blaster Z. On my Sound Blaster Z card that I bought yesterday, the headset feels completely muted, too quiet - almost to a fault. Can anyone help? For those who may be interested, here's the specs: Soundcard: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009ISU33E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 All other PC Parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/xkzdXH Thank you in advance

Hey! Just want to introduce myself real quick: My name's Jan-Niclas, I tend to be called Janni though. I'm a hobby musician from germany with indian roots at the age of 18 years. I also do some sketching, a little bit of photoshop as well as less than mediocre video editing. As for my musical activities, I mostly produce Deathstep and Chillstep, two subgenres of Dubstep, but I can basically do everything as I got over 6 years of experience. I'm in the process of learning to play the guitar and I play some piano as well. In case you are interested to hear my stuff just search for "Endevie" on Soundcloud and YouTube, all of you who watch some sWooZie every once in a while will probably already have heard something I did Enough about me though! Let's hear about your creative work, I'd really love to know what this community is up to musically and otherwise creatively!

I'm a Hi-Fi aficionado always searching for the best possible quality in my audio setup. That said, i'm updating my setup a little bit. I used to have an Akai AA-A35 receiver with a pair of Gradiente Turbo 75 speakers hooked to that old thing. I treated myself to a nicer, more modern Denon DRA-37 receiver and a nice looking pair of Pure Acoustics QX900 speakers. They sound really good in my opinion, i'm no Kenrick Audio person to demand more than that (nor have the same amount of money that those guys have. I'm not really used to mess with computer sound cards, but i was wondering,if i exchange my internal Purity Sound device (ASRock's own modified Realtek internal chip) for a dedicated Creative Sound Blaster Z, would things get a little bit better? I noticed my Yamaha CD deck has a little bit more clarity in the audio, but i believe that is not really relevant...

So I need to buy a new laptop for university and I'm an animator so I will need a laptop that will be able to handle some adobe programs such as photoshop, flash and illustrator. I will also need it to be able to handle multitasking so i can have a bunch of tabs open on chrome and use photoshop without everything lagging. I don't need much for games should hopefully be able to play something like league of legends without lagging. This is one that i have looked at but the battery life is really bad only about 3 hours and 58 minutes : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-ideapad-15-6-inch-Laptop-Notebook/dp/B015Q3BD74/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1456542946&sr=1-2&keywords=laptop
