Is time to me to upgrade! on a budget, ok I'm going to keep this a short as possible. Ok my needs I'm attemptin to be a graphic designer and a memebr of adobe creative cloud so I use Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and After Effects quite heavily so a lot of cores would be nice, but I will like to enjoy some gaming too (WarThunder, Arma III, H1Z1 ect..,). Budget: $600 NOTE: I can't take advantage of rebates (I'm outside of the US) Things I have: Periferals (Mouse & Keyboard) Monitor PC Case (Standard ATX Mortheboard Size) A Graphics Card (EVGA GT 740 FTW) I know is not the best but is what I got. EVGA 430W 80Plus Power Supply Things I need: Motherboard CPU 8GB Memory RAM (can be more as long as it is within the budget) Hard Drive (SSD+HDD combo or Hibird would be nice) Note: The FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition is what I have in mind for the CPU but I want to see what you guys think. Sorry for the bad English

Hey so for a few months now I have been thinking of doing an Overclock on the i5 4690K I have looked into a lot of guides and tutorials (using the ASUS Z97-A) on how to do it but I am rather frightened of over/under volting my current chip id like to push 4GHz and 4.1GHz on the turbo clock but being held back by the scary side of things I don't want to damage my system I suppose this is what risks are involved with overclocking that I would need to take any advice on the matter would be appreciated

Hey everyone! So I am on a a budget and I was planning to build a new pc primarily for gaming. Someone suggested me this build for under $700 (my budget). And I have a few questions.... (I am horrible when it comes to these things ) Build Suggested: CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor ($138.98 @ DirectCanada) Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($100.44 @ DirectCanada) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($58.98 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card ($189.64 @ TigerDirect Canada) Case: Thermaltake Versa H21 ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.05 @ Vuugo) Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($82.21 @ TigerDirect Canada) So my questions are as follow: - Will the graphics card be able to run two monitors? - Will this PC be able to run modern games at high settings while running 2 monitors at the same time? I am planning to use the BenQ XL2411Z Monitor, if that matters - Is the case the right size? - Is this a decent build? Thank you so much for the help! I am very new at this and I appreciate any help that is given to me! Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum

(I added the pole just for fun ) So I build a lot of PCs for friends and family and help a lot of people online with their builds, and their budgets always lead me towards lower end processors. I seem to always go for i3s as intel is always better IMO at all prices. I usually choose the i3 as most simple applications these days still rely on only 1 core, and the i3 has better overall single core performance. But the 860k being cheaper and coming with 4 physical cores sounds very compelling at a lower price over the i3. But the i3 also has a better iGPU. I was wondering what you guys think of these 2 CPUs and which one you think is better.

The main AMD desktop CPU out there is still the FX-6300 from 3 years ago. The MSRP has gone from $160 to $90-100 since then. I'm wondering how the AMD 6 and 8 core Piledriver CPUs compare to Intel Haswell laptop CPUs. Considering the AMD ones use more power and are clocked higher, that there are other benefits for larger CPUs on Desktops, how does that translate to comparing gaming, multitasking and multithread performance? If you look at the cost of ASUS ROG laptops starting around $1,500, how much of that cost is justifiable towards the CPU? The way I see it a Sandy Bridge i5 is better than any AMD CPU for gaming on average. Would the 3 year old Piledriver FX processors from AMD perform just as well or nearly the same compared to Intel's Haswell lineup? To me a $90 desktop CPU performing effectively just as well as $300-500 laptop one slides in favor towards the cheaper one regardless. Any good charts out there? CPU Boss rates Intel laptop ones being superior at everything, but rate them equal in the end because of the price difference. There's still the 8350 too. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-4700HQ-vs-AMD-FX-6300

Apparently my ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard has been the culprit behind CPU throttling in my PC. I was just wondering what AM3+ motherboards are recommended for around £50-£70/$75-$100. Which wouldn't throttle and would be compatible with my PC: GPU: Gigabyte HD 7950 (Stock OC'd to 900 MHz) PSU: Corsair CX750M CPU: FX-8120 CPU Fan: Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme RAM: 4x4GB, Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, CL9 Case: Cooler Master Elite 330 (Mid Tower)

I recently put together a new gaming pc, (my second build) and would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with this issue. Thanks The specs: i7 4770k CPU ASUS Z87 Plus Motherboard ASUS GTX 970 GPU Corsair H100i CPU Cooler 8GB 1333mhz ddr3 RAM 2x Samsung 840 evo 750Gb SSD's Corsair TX850M PSU The Problem: I recently put together a new gaming pc (as my old pc was 6 years old and very outdated) when I had completed the build I turned the pc on, the fans started up but it refused to connect to a monitor (with any of the connections on the motherboard or graphics card) I then noticed that the red cpu light was on. I double checked all the power connectors and reset the cmos but nothing has changed. Thank you for paying attention to my problem. I am getting pretty desperate at this point as I have been saving for 4 years for this pc and so would greatly appreciate any help, Thanks.

So, i see in some games that the 4690k pulls ~5 more frames paired with a GTX 970 is it even worth the extra $80 for the 4690k?

Well, this certainly seems to be interesting. Intel just announced that it intends to combine its loss generating mobile division and the heavily profitable PC division into one group. Their reasoning for this move could be summed up with the following quote that spokesperson Chuck Mulloy released: There's two ways to look at this. Either Intel is becoming super serious (or more so than the same Intel a year ago) about mobile, or this is a response to the recent cries from their investors to explain the way their mobile division bleeds money. In Q3 2014, the mobile division lost $1.04 billion while the PC guys were swimming in an operating profit of more than $4 billion (nothing really new either). By combining the two, they can easily hide their losses under a mountain of cash and pretend nothing ever happened. Guess we will have to wait and see what comes of this? Hey everyone! This will be my first post on this forum, so I hope we will get along. :] Most of us know about Devil's Canyon, or the i5 4690k and i7 4790k. The paper date is, presumably, June 2nd while it will be released for consumers around July/September. (Correct me if I am wrong.) My future computer build I'm saving up for till December will be around ~$1000. I'll obviously be including one of these i5's. Despite them being k-versions, I won't be overclocking straight away, but I will be in the future. I know it's not out yet, but would it just be a "no-brainer" to buy this i5 4690k versus the i5 4670k and accompany it with a Z97 motherboard? Apparently the prices will only differ about $10-$20. (I'm just looking for the most performance in Arma 2 and 3, really.) Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions, feel free! Cheers!

So we got the haswell refresh we've all been waiting for last Sunday, and all it was was an i5 and an i7 with low power variants, both of these have no different specs compared to the 4670 and 4770, the k versions are what we all want, because they have apparently fixed heat issues for more stable higher overclocks. I'm really getting tired of waiting for these because I have been drafting my next build since late February and it relies on the devil's canyon i7 and nvidia 880, but it seems both intel and nvidia just like to see how patient we are. Anyone got any idea when to expect these? All we got is "mid-year" but the non k variants are already out and so are the 9 series chipsets.

So I was browsing PC part picker and I notices that the xeon dropped below the 4690k in price, usually the xeon is $15-$20 more. So I checked out the specs on the intel ark and noticed that it is a lot better than the 4690k in terms added features for workstation type scenarios and the only downside was that the clocks frequency is .2ghz lower than then the 4690k, and you can still overclock xeons by increasing the base clock (right?). And you get 8mb of cache compared to 6mb on the i5 bringing the xeon closer to the i7's in specs. So are there any downsides to this processor, it seems like it has way more features and a few better specs than the i5 for $10 cheaper. This is almost too good to be true, for me at least, but probably not for OC enthusiasts, because I don't OC much so not having as much headroom on the xeon isn't a big deal. Just wanted your guys opinion on this xeon compared to the 4690k.

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my PC's CPU to an FX-6300. The only problem is that I am currently using an A8-5500 APU on the FM2 socket, while the 6300 runs on AM3+. As a result, I need to buy a new motherboard too, and I made this thread to look for reccomendations of good AM3+ boards. I am looking to spend less than $100 USD, but can go to $120 if necessary. I have an ATX case, so ATX or micro-ATX mobos will work. I have one 7870 GPU and don't think that I will be buying another to crossfire. Also, I will probably be over clocking the 6300 in the future, so I will need a board that supports that. Any help is appreciated!

Hey guys. I am not going to be overclocking for now so I thought I would get a non k-series CPU to save a little money. But thats besides the point. Is the Intel-3470 processor anygood? Its a Quad Core i5 that has 3.20GHz clock and 3.60GHz boost clock. This is for a casual gaming PC. Try not to give me recomendations on other CPUs I would rather know the good points and bad points about this one. Thanks

I built this computer about a week ago and about an hour ago the rear chassis fan randomly stopped spinning I shut it down and checked if it was in tightly,it seemed to be so I restarted and it is spinning now? I have noticed my PC is also quite loud even tough all of the components are relatively new: Mobo:Asus Maximus VI Case:Corsair Graphite 230t CPU cooler:Cooler Mater hyper 212 evo cpu: Intel i7 4770k It could be nothing but I downloaded speedfan and here are its readings...(coretemp aswell) http://i.imgur.com/BD7RybM.png anything strange here? Thank you for reading.

Personally, I'd prefer about 3.7 or better. What do you guys think? This will also help me decide on what I should get on my personal build. Thanks!

hey all, well the title says it all, im trying to decide if i should get an I5 4670k or an I7 4770k for gaming. the games will be mainly for BF4 and newer releases which i still dont know what i will buy i run 2 sli 570's HD, i would like to know my framerate on bf4 with each CPU. i've looked on google, but every test is done with 700 series cards or newer. i would like a more down to earth opinion as i do not think i need to upgrade my GPU's thank you all.

Should I get the new Athlon 20th anniversary G2358 or AMD Athlon 750k. This CPU should handle: -Semi-heavy gaming (Payday 2, Battlefield 4, GTA V, Garry's Mod, maaaaaybe Call of Duty, Minecraft) -Browsing -Having a few programs open while browsing & gaming Which is better for these kinds of things and what should I buy?

I have been thinking about my upgrade this December and I don't know what to get (my budget is $400). My current computer has served me well over the years but as it is using a duo core and a although good but, old striker 2 formula. I have thinking about buying a amd processor so I can save some money and spend it on a better motherboard and ram but, going on the intel side you have way better performance but with my budget it will have to buy a cheap mobo and ram. So I ask you guys to help me get the hardware that will give me the best performance in my budget. PSU: 1000w (don't know exact model) Case: Cosmos 1000 (supports Atx and extend Atx motherboards) GPU: GTX 560 ti
